Yeah lets discuss. First of all as many people said, N really is what MM should have been. But anyways ,better late than never. Actually the guys at google are not only devs but business men also. They would never bring all the goodies at one go. Why? well you know the obvious. And after all we still have a long way to go from "O" to "Z".
Being a part of Xda, we already have seen everything that N is bringing (via custom roms or Xposed). But from mass and non tech savvy POV there are many significant and welcome changes. Now, the question is when are we going to have N in our device?!
I know, its only a dev preview for nexus group and there would a few betas >then final> then AOSP>CM14> then if we are lucky( and of course sticking to our device) one of our dev would port this to our device. So, is not possible to skip all the steps and start porting directly from the Nexus images. Yup, that sounds absurd( I m not a dev at all). BUT we are XDA, and we like livin on the edge.
Yeah nevertheless we can hope much as our device has one of the very Good support from cm.
What you guys think about it's name would be???
Something like nutella is well in rumours.
For me the Android N is an Revolutioned Android Marshmallow with another utily functions

It's truth. You can find test build in cm13 thread
I'm so hyped for nougat, can't wait for new nightlies
... i really wonder about how so good is the update... if it is kinda have a better kernel and more functions without resting too much resources,,, it is good, but if it is kinda windows vista... omg better stay with 4.4 or 6.0
I wanna have this update, and test it... just hope that it would worth.
BTW, tx for all
You guys are more lucky then me. U have very early access to nougat via cm14. I don't have s4 mini now. And I'm missing my lil champ. I'm currently using galaxy s5 snapdragon which doesn't have nougat ROM yet for public.
I ve bricked s4 mini.
After 2 days arco done first build of cm 14. RIP:crying:
awaiting news
I believe in the potential of 7.0 for my i9192, I'm using a unnoficial build of CM14 and I confess that pleased me, even as a test, as I think better than the Marshmallow. I am waiting anxious that the Devs work with nougat and to bring good roms.

I would like too see a offcial rom, not some debranded provider ones
jvx and jvw are here now which is a 100% clean stock version
no pre rooted or other stuff
i highly doubt an ICS build from samsung since theyve already announced builds for galaxy s 2 and a few other devices but no mention about about galaxy s and if you are a true flashaholic flash CUSTOM ROMS also the onecosmic ICS AOSP build is much better with less bugs and faster in general
I don't think we 'll have ICS
I think that there wont come ics for gt9000. But try teamhacksungs ics mod. Pretty good now, love it

i would love to do this but for 4.0 i will wait till its developed all a little further and they fixed the hardware acceleration. and when all stuff works. ill do it.
but i have never flashed custom roms you need root and stuff and need to backup that uhmmm idk the name but the imei, but you need root for that.
i only flashed tons of stock roms. and i look forward in trying 4.0 soon is it already good enaf for fulltime use ?
Would love ICS from Samsung, but I'll settle for CM9..
Guys Dont think its miui based Rom or its jus Miui...!! i can assure its Totally different UI.. This Rom is called presently as DX ROM or DianXin Rom...
i know you guys may think it looks like MIUI , but i asure you it’s totally different ROM nor MIUI-based modification.
As with MIUI, it’s based in Asia, so the ROMs available to try currently still have some translation to go through and are only available on a couple of devices. Namely, the GSM and CDMA versions of the Samsung Galaxy S.
The people who are working on it currently are the aforementioned qtwrk on the GSM model and XDA Senior Member swamp goblin, who ported it to the CDMA version from qtwrk.
So far, these are the only two phones that we could find running the OS, which is reportedly only 3 weeks old. It can be expected to start making its way around the forums as people start warming up to the idea. In 6 months we could all be saying that development is not truly active until there’s CM, MIUI and DXOS are present.
If you have a Samsung Nexus S and want to check it out, or if you just wanna see what all the fuss is about, then you can head on over to the GSM Samsung Nexus S thread found here and the CDMA Samsung Nexus S thread found here. Inside these threads you’ll find download links, discussions, installation instructions, the all-important screen shots and additional information about this potentially awesome new Android-based OS. As per the norm, these ROMs are still in beta so exercise the usual caution when flashing (making a nandroid backup, etc).

I started developing my own touchwiz based rom for galaxy S6 (SM-G920F).
My initial ideas are to remove bloatware, add some cool programs, tweak the interface, modify the kernel, make a cool bootup animation and sound and many more.
There will maybe be an AOSP based Galaxy S6 (SM-G920F) ROM in the future but simply it's more cool to work with a TouchWiz based ROM.
Please request any additional ideas and i'll try to put em' in if possible.
Initial release is expected to be on January 20th or 21st and official release is expected to be on February 2nd or 3rd.
This ROM will also be available for Galaxy S5 and maybe S4 and all the mini versions. They're releases are not yet expected, but maybe on summer this year something will come out.
This ROM will be available in 5.0.2 and 5.1.1 versions of Android and maybe later support will be added for 6.0 when released.
Extreme debloat aroma wise is always great.
available for t-mobile variant
Add xposed and root.
Plz add the support for att.

Development starts tomorrow!
So, I've been a little busy with school and stuff so i haven't had time to make a ROM.
But, since the weekend starts tomorrow i'll get to work.
So, the 5.1.1 version will not be released so soon, but the 5.0.2 version will be released on 20th or 21st of January 2016.
But, as soon as the happiness starts, there come the problems... I have a terrible Wi-Fi connection, so upload will take 2 or 3 days or maybe even more. Wait I have an idea, why don't I go to my friend's place and upload there, seems like a good idea.
This will be the BTU (British) firmware so, ask If you want me to make it for different countries and also it will soon arrive for other models like SM-G920A or something, but first for SM-G920F.
That's it for now, see ya in other posts, bye.
I'm sorry...
There will not be released any version soon because I'm too busy with school.
But, there is a chance I could possibly release the first version (1.1) on Tuesday.
That's it for now.
This sounds like BS to me...
yearp
Next week I will be ap able to do some work on my ROM. Maybe I will not be releasing it soon but it should look nice and cool.
Can any MOD please close this useless thread please.

How long till Android Oreo/8.0 Custom ROM
I think it took them till 31st December for Nougat so could be a while yet officially.

Okay thanks
I'm sure someone's already tinkering with the new released oreo source. But I guess someone will post a booting rom in the next couple of weeks? Ah how long is a piece of string?
Didn't take long for Nougat. I remember testing Cyanogen/LOS based roms by November 1st and I waited for a few of the bigger bugs to be solved. There are some awesome devs around here. Be patient. They'll have some in testing before you know it.
CypherOS aka AOSCP are bringing up Oreo but don't expect anything anytime soon. https://gerrit.cypheros.co/#/q/status:open
I think it will be faster than Nougat. Nougat was a bigger update, Oreo should be simpler.

Depends on how much is broken back when nougat first came out a lot of work had to be done to port the code across from mm as the source code was not available for nougat from oneplus.
I would not expect anything to be fully working until oneplus release the Oreo source for their kernel.
I would expect a nov/dec timeframe for very early release of Oreo with lot of bugs and half of it not working properly!

If I remember correctly, you were one of the devs who brought us some of the early Nougat builds. I'm pretty sure it was one of the ones I tested. Will you be working on Oreo too? I'd be happy to test on weekends when I'm home if you are.
Thanks again for all your work!

Great, thank you! Android 7.1 on nexus 7 is already miracle... So 8.0 will be a miracle in square
Unlikely that there will be Oreo for N7 since google changed kernel requirments to 4.4 in R2
@tomcis147 for new devices rolling out with Oreo ..
last Android 7.0 ROM i tried was super laggy comparing to pure nexus based on Android 6.0 so I'm not even going to try 8.0
