I am using Nexus 5x with the earphone which came along with the mobile. But the button in the earphone doesn't seems to be working sometimes. Like i can attend a phone but it wont disconnect the call. Does anyone know how to fix it?? I am confused whether it the ear piece or the handset problem.

I just received a Nexus 4 for my wife (mine is awesome). Everything works except you can't hear callers using the phone's earpiece (meaning just holding it up to your ear like normal). You can only use bluetooth or the speakerphone.
Is there anything on the software end that may be causing this, or could it only be hardware? We just got a new micro-sim(switched from regular sized sim from old phone) and the phone is on 4.2.1.
Thanks.
Switched to Nokia Lumia 920.. Lil bulky ..Has 32 gigs update.
Hello all,
Does anyone here have the same issue I'm experiencing the same problem with there devices ..when you plug in ear phones you hear a electrocuted disturbance..I have checked using different earphone to rule out the ear phone problem, I also test it out with bluetooth head set which works fine but does support beats audio...
I guess, It needs a check.
P.S: My phone is updated..the problem existed before and after (I still cont to have this problem).
Other than that I like the phone, for slickness and clarity, Incipio screen protector and case..(screen protector doesn't fit needs a good quality review)
Yes i have the same.
I think it's normal for this phone.
This will happen on ANY electrical device, be it phone, ipod, TV etc....
The OP can't be serious... surely???
Are you referring to the static you hear when plugging the headset in?
My ATIV S does the same with headphones plugged in when I unlock it...

There is a little release of static electricity when you plug in the headphone. This is why you can;'t hear it in Bluetooth, but you hear it with any headset. This is normal, and it will disappear after a few moments.
Hey guys, I'm having a problem with KitKat (4.4.2). As it turns out, my mic on my earphones stop working or is in extremely low volume. This hasn't happened before on Android 4.3, anyone have a solution? I have a friend who just received her Moto G running KitKat and has the same problem too. Nexus 5 also suffers from this problem, with a video to prove it. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSDI4u2Yq7g) Time: 32:10 There is a solution in which you have to hold down the button on your earphones while plugging it in, but as I asked, is there a different solution to this? Like a software patch? Thanks.
LG G Flex KitKat killed call quality
Major problem, my LG Flex is useless as a phone now after KitKat.... I can hear callers clearly but they can't hear me at all.... I Sound like echo/reverb box to them. The problem is so bad that I can't use the LG Flex now and had to switch back to Moto X. Hope someone finds a fix soon. Thanks
Hi all,
I just got a Nexus 4 recently and I've been racking my brain with what on earth is happening with the microphone.
The problem is that the microphone WORKS PERFECTLY when doing a google search, voice call in normal mode, or voice recording. It does not work at all if I enable the speakerphone during a voice call. This seems to be exactly the opposite problem that others are having with the Nexus 4. I can still hear the person in the call but when I talk, they can't hear me. Not even white noise, just total and utter silence.
I have tried 2 flex cables (trying replaced the initial one whose microphone didn't work at all, at the time I had CM11) and tried flashing everything (baseband, recovery, system) to stock 4.2.2, tested it with no luck. I then flashed everything with the latest version 4.4 off google's developer section and tested with the same issues. I've tried factory resets, unplugging the headphones, and also soundabout and nothing resolves the issue.
When I look at the flex cable and the phone housing, it seems to me that there is only one microphone on the bottom. On the top, there is the noise canceling mic, but I don't think this has anything to do with the speakerphone. Am I wrong? Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? I don't know whether this is a hardware problem or some low level software issue.
UPDATE:
I noticed something super strange. If I plug a headphones w/ a mic into the headphone jack, I can actually hear very loudly and in great detail the friction from my fingers moving up and down anywhere the case of the phone, and if I tap on the body of the phone (anywhere, even near the USB port on the bottom) it's like stuffing paper into your ear canals. I can still hear the person on the other end fine, and they can also hear just as clear and loud when I touch the phone body. This phone is a science experiment now. The closer I move my fingers to the bottom of the phone near the mic, the louder it gets.
've tried everything. You also changed the Kernel, I do not know ... Maybe it's a problem RADIO, but I doubt it.
Eventually contact Google support
Typical factory problem....when i bought my Nexus 4 (S/N shows production date is October 2013 so its the newer batch with little nipples and camera lens offset fix) the microphone was dead and i could've only talk through headphones and speakerphone....took it to the repair shop and everything works now. Don't know what they replaced, maybe it wasnt the microphone.
Hi,
I've been using Nexus 4, and recently this issue started.
when I try to call, the other side can not hear my voice.
However, if I turn on the loudspeaker the mic works fine.
So, the probably the hardware is fine because the same mic works fine when used in loudspeaker mode.
I've not installed anything, not changed anything, its a brand new device.
I've tried starting in Safe mode, it doesn't help.
i was using the stock android from google all these days and issue started. I have now migrated to Cyanogenmod 11 and the issue still persits.
I have downloaded an app from play store called soundabout to try convince my phone that there was no headset plugged in. But of no use yet.
Any help on this please
Help please

Does your earpiece speaker work normally? If so I can only guess the nexus 4 uses top mic for loudspeaker calls. If your bottom mic has failed its easily fixed as it comes as part of the charging block.
It could just be something blocking the mic. Does your voice sound muffled or is it no audio at all?

Yes the earpiece speaker works fine. the bottom mic if u hold it close to ur mouth and talk works just ok...as in the other person cant hear 100% but its like u r talking from a far off place.
Hardware problem, mic - flex cable???

Probably is just dust or something then, get a dental pick or something and try and clear the mic hole from the outside. If it still doesn't work you might have to disassemble the phone and remove the blockage.
I had the same problem and I use the application soundabout to resolv it
