Does anyone know why the S7 Edge will sometimes prompt me for a fingerprint, but then other times, some times minutes/seconds apart will only ask to swipe up? I am at my house (thought it was a trusted location) but sometimes it will ask to be unlocked with a fingerprint/code, then other times, with nothing else changing in my environment, it will just want a swipe. Thoughts?

I don't have any of the trusted location settings enabled and it always asks for my fingerprint as expected.
To me, it sounds like those times it is requiring the fingerprint lock is when the phone has disconnected from wifi.
This could be because the phone is disconnecting to save power (option to keep always on in the Wifi settings), or due to weak signal.
If you already have it set to stay always connected when phone is sleeping. You turn off the option that drops weak wifi signals. Turning on always stay connected may use more battery, and the other option may result in slow data speeds if it is in fact due to a weak signal.

My Nexus' GPS is constantly giving me the finger. I read this thread and I believe I might have the same problem, but the latest Play services update hasn't helped any.
Setting the location setting toggle to 'Only Device' completely breaks the GPS - The phone is never able to get a lock-in until I switch back to the High/Low accuracy setting. Rebooting the device provides temporary relief, that is, until I lose my mobile signal or turn on aeroplane mode (at which point the GPS stops responding and my location is gleaned from the last know coarse network fix). I use Tasker to turn on aeroplane mode every night, so I'm essentially without any GPS connectivity until the phone is rebooted. And I really, really don't fancy doing a hard reboot every single morning. Also, it won't be doing the phone's battery any favors either.
I've tried multiple NTP apps in hopes of squishing this extremely annoying issue but no avail. I occurred to me that I can't be the only person with this issue, hence the thread. So, suggestions?

I have a stock unrooted Verizon Galaxy S5. For several months my phone has been plagued by several issues at startup. Whether I reboot the phone or start it up after the battery has died, it always enters an odd state immediately after loading and seems to get stuck in this state for an undetermined and variable amount of time (anywhere from a few seconds or minutes to hours or even overnight).
While in this state, this is what happens:
1. Screen stays on. Once I unlock the phone, the screen stays on. The side button doesn't do anything to lock the phone or turn off the screen. Holding down the button, however, still triggers the power menu. The screen timeout never triggers, even though it should turn off the screen after 2 minutes of inactivity.
2. WiFi and Bluetooth turned off. Even if they were turned on before I powered down the phone, they are not enabled when the phone first boots up. I can manually turn them on but the WiFi will not connect to a network, even if one is available. It may show it is connecting to the network, but it gets stuck at "Checking the quality of your internet connection" and continues to use the 4G network for data connectivity. This happens no matter what WiFi network I am within range of, so it's not an issue with the network or router itself. If I am not near a network at all I will still experience the other problems of not being able to lock the phone, etc.
3. Startup applications don't load. I have Tasker on my phone, but it doesn't load and show it's notification bar icon.
Otherwise, I can use the phone normally and open applications, surf the web, etc. It seems that loading some applications and using the phone eventually causes the phone to exit this mode, but I haven't been able to find a single particular application or series of steps to fix the problem. If I power on the phone and don't use it that just seems to make it take even longer to fix itself.
Once it gets out of it's weird state, the WiFi connection will become active (it will turn on WiFi if I haven't done so manually already) and it will connect to a known network if one is available, the phone will lock itself or I can do so from the side button, and things like Tasker and Power Save mode will turn on.
I am stumped as to what could be causing this problem or how to fix it. It seems the phone may be doing some kind of check, maybe related to Knox, that hangs during startup and prevents certain things from working until it straightens itself out.
Any clues into what this problem is, what is causing it or how I could further analyze this problem and determine its cause would be greatly appreciated.

Have you installed any official updates from Verizon at any point? I've heard of phones having phantom problems like this after receiving a bad update. I would definitely contact Verizon if you did update at any point. If not then like BigBot96 said, contact Samsung about the problem.
My wife's Note 2 did something similar when the battery died. I had to factory reset. Her phone was rooted/unlocked & running a custom TW ROM, though. May I suggest doing a complete factory reset and Odin. Backup data to computer or external sdcard since this will clear the entire device.
Edit: After rereading OP's post it actually sounds like an app is hanging at startup which could cause this behavior. A logcat should tell you what's going on.

So I have the SM-G928T galaxy s6 edge+. It has a few issues, one being the wireless charging constantly pauses and then comes back and sometimes just stops all together. I fixed this with turning the daydream feature on. My BIGGEST issue is the Wireless! The wireless adapter CONSTANTLY turns itself off at random, then turns back on a few seconds later. This causes any downloads, updates, etc to fail.. I've read that I am not the only one with this issue, but so far no fix has been really found... I've gone into recovery and cleared the cache partition, made sure that smart network switch is turned off, keep wifi on during sleep is set to always (even though it shuts off while ACTIVELY using the phone). I've done a factory reset more than once, each time clearing cache partition. I've been told in several other places that it's my wireless router... This is NOT the case.... For one, I'm a network admin. If it was router issue, I would know it. Secondly, it happens no matter what network I am connected to. Public wifi, home wifi, corporate wifi, etc. All have the same result. The only thing I have not noticed is if it does it even when there is no network traffic on the device, mostly because I don't just sit and stare at my phone when I'm not using it.... Only notice it WHILE I am using it. My assumption though is that it's only happening when the device is USING the wireless connection. It is also important to mention that this is the 2nd device to have this issue. I thought it might be hardware issue so I exchanged it for a new one, and it also has this problem... Maybe I just have terrible luck....

The problem disappears if I turn off the Location Accuracy setting that scans for WiFi networks even with WiFi off. But it shouldn't be scanning constantly even if that setting is turned on--it's using much more power than if I just leave WiFi turned on.
Turning off the WiFi Location Accuracy setting also fails because then, when I use a location-enabled app such as Google Maps, it pops up a message asking me to turn on Google Location services (which is already on, and the phone has a good GPS signal). If I tell it to go ahead and turn location services on, it then turns WiFi Location Accuracy back on and the constant scanning resumes.
So there's clearly a bug, but the problem is very recent and my phone (AT&T) has not received a recent update.
Has anyone else encountered this problem or does anyone know how to fix it? (Rebooting doesn't help.)

Same issue here, started yesterday. I'm on T-Mobile, and have had no new updates to the system.
I saw this was happening (on other threads) to other phones, not just Samsung phones.
Same here in France with SFR, it's very annoying ...

Here's a video of the issue I've been having, which I believe is the same as the one you're describing. My WiFi switch just constantly turns on and off, and I am unable to connect to my network. I have found a way to get it to connect to my network by first clicking the WiFi Direct button (when it's clickable and not flashing), and then when I go back, the list of available networks shows just like it normally does, and I am able to connect. Turning off WiFi again, would then reproduce the problem though. It started happening recently after the latest update for me. I'm non-rooted, completely stock for now.

My H990DS has been bothering me for a couple of days as WiFi turns itself on without any kind of intervention.
Turning it off manually or having the phone restart does not help. I made sure the latest apps installed make no impact.
Playing with Developer Options made no difference.
I am ready to Factory Data reset.
Anyone experienced something similar ?

My 918 always shows wifi active in GSAM's graph, even when set to "Never" under the "Wifi on while inactive" option in system settings. I ended up just downloading Leandroid from the play store and setting it to disable the wifi radio, and renable it periodically to check for push messages. Seems to work fine with doze and standby time has improved.
Under settings, location, three dots top right, scanning, turn wifi scanning off. It turns back on anytime you use wifi and you manually have to turn it back off each time.
Mine (918) does this all the time. Im thinking its a 7.0 thing. There has been a few exceptions where it has stayed off. In my case I drive through a busy section in town and it constantly connects to the 20 or so open wifi spots so I turn it off. Well once I pull into the garage at home its magically back on.
Maybe something to do with networks it recognizes, Xfinity wifi wreaks havoc on it as well.
As soon as I uninstalled the latest apps, the issue disappeared. Not a single exception in 24 hours.
I suspect a Sip Client had caused the problem.

That sounds utterly horific for the battery, nevermind privacy concerns. I thankfully haven't experienced anything similar myself, but I've only ever used custom ROMs so perhaps that's the cause. But that sounds terrible.
