Graphics messed up in some games - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

I recently got myself a SM G 935F and it's working great so far, but I have one issue. When I play games that use high graphics it's sometimes messing it up.
For example, GTA is flickering really much every couple seconds. Unfortunately, I seem to be unable to screenshot that. Also, in this game, it looks pretty awkward as well, I've attached a screenshot of that. In Crazy Taxi it's not lagging or anything, but it sometimes doesn't react to any touches on the screen that I make for some seconds.
I've also attached two Screenshots of a graphics benchmark test, and the result is that my phone ended up like half as good as other SGS7E's.
I already did a reset (didn't have much data on it yet anyway) but it didn't help.
Does anyone else experienced anything like this?
And do you think I should just wait for updates for the apps and the phone itself which may fix problems like this?
My software version is G935FXXU1APB4 (6.0.1) and I have an European Exynos model.
Thanks in advance for anyone who takes time to reply!

GTA: SA has graphical glitches/artifacts for me too and I also have the Exynos variant.

Gta is not optimised for Exynos variant

Oh I'm glad to hear that, I was afraid my phone had a problem. Maybe it's really just the problem that it's too new and will be fixed with updates in the future.

Subway Surfer Lag?

Anyone else suffering from lag/freezing up whilst playing subway surfer or any other games on their s4?
Played it on my note 2 with no issues! During a run it will lag or freeze up for a second usually making me crash into something
Makes going for high scores pointless as I know it will just lag and get me game over.
Reason I'm asking on here all the reviews for current version with my device are positive not a single mention of any lag.. Could it be the phone?

could be the phone itself or maybe the game itself i d suggest trying other games if u face lag its ur device reuturn it to the shop
if not then try removing and reinstalling and if that dont work id say get a custom rom or factory reset

Bad game performance

Hey just wanted to know if anyone was experiencing lag in games. I turned off all game options in package disabler pro and it fixed the brightness issue but still having FPS issues. I play Order and Chaos 2 and on my Note 5 it performs beautiful, on this phone it's laggy and choppy. I can't figure out if it's a graphic issue, optimization issue, or a network issue with this phone. Please any input is greately appreciated!
Some games I play run perfectly smooth but others run choppy. Hearthstone for example. That game lags worse than it did on my GS5 and couldn't even come close to the smoothness of my 6S+. Royal Clash runs great though. Super smooth with no hangup. Asphalt 8 also runs good which is odd being how it's graphics are more intense than Hearthstone.

Disable gameservice with debloater for example
Which version are you using? Maybe it's just optimization problem.
I'm using the snapdragon 820 version of the s7e... and maybe it is an optimization problem because idk I play the game a lot and it's aggravating me to the point I'm wondering if I should return the phone within my 14 day window... I can't see much of an increase over the Note 5 aside from the camera and the size lol

So is this a problem with the game makers themselves or is it a phone problem? Or both? I'm debating on returning this phone and going back to my note 5... this phone processor is better and smoother, I love the always on display, and just everything else about it but it's not a drastic difference from the Note 5 though. Also even with the font on minimal extra tiny things still look huge on here compared to the Note lol

I don't know who's problem it is but the more I look into it, the more I think everyone is to blame here. I believe it's a problem with Marshmallow and Samsung phones.

I don't know then. All i know is over in the Hearthstone forums, everyone with Galaxy S 6's are also complaining about lag and bugs. Maybe it's a combination of Snapdraggon CPU's, Marshmallow and Samsung.

Maybe... not sure it's just so annoying lol
The only strange I've found is Minecraft PE. It runs smoother on my 2012 Nexus 7 than on my Exynos S7 Edge. But that's clearly an optimisation problem rather than hardware being unable to manage the game, because this phone is at least five times more powerful.
I would suggest against returning your phone for this issue. It's clearly a software issue which I am sure Samsung will fix. I am having the screen dimming and choppiness with Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes. I had no issues on my S6 Edge before installing Marshmallow. Now I have the same issue on the S7 edge along with the color saturation issue. Most new phones usually have at least one update that addresses the issues once it hits the mass market.
There is supposed to be a update for Hearthstone soon to fix graphical issues, which could also fix lag. In the meantime, delete the game's cache/data and give it another shot.
And as mentioned above, disabling game service by Samsung helps with lag and color issues.

That only helps with the color levels, has little to no impact on games with actual performance problems on the S7.

It didn't fix it and the game is still choppy. I ran it side by side with my iPhone 6s+ and it was no contest. It's so smooth on the 6+ my S7 looked and felt like an atari.

I'm not entirely sure what's causing this lag but it's definitely an isolated issue, only few people have it.
Could you give more info on your device? Also, do you have apps that run and/or monitor all the time? Some people reported random apps that they hadn't even install draining their battery and/or slowing down their phone (ei.: Pocket).

Some games run super smooth on the Snapdragon version and others lag like hell. Asphalt 8 and Clash Royal run extremely smooth yet Hearthstone lags like no tomorrow.
That bug applies to all 6.0.1 sammy devices. Ive seen this on note 5 and now s7edge. Guys please complain to samsung

I wonder if it has to do with the high Android System drain SD variant are getting. I doubt it's something we can fix ourselves atm thought.

Not entirely true. The Exynos variant doesn't seem to have that issue. Which makes me think that it's an optimization issue.

Galaxy s7 edge performance problem

Hi I just bought galaxy s7 edge, phone is amazing but the biggest issue is performance, most games dropping frames below 30fps even temple run 2 or candy crush soda, sky force, heartstone etc. These games where running on may galaxy s5 smooth I'm really disappointed right now and don't know what to do. Is it a hardware or software issue? Can u help me please?
temple run and candy crush works fine on my phone
ye GS7 has the worst gaming performance in flagship device for years, there is not much u can do without root, and even with root the solution is not optimal to use.
U can however disable gameservice which might help or not, u need package disable pro in order to do so if u don't have root.
You mean best gaming perform. Zero issues here
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers mobile app
no one of the worst, the fact that u don't have issues does not mean it's working perfect, u might not be able to see it.
Again not all games effected, mine games currently are Tekken on PPSSPP and Angry birds 2 on high levels 200+, both lags so bad it's not funny, Note 5 on 5.1.1 was light years ahead of S7.

i did everything, i can prove that it's the software that throttling the phone, not hardware.
If u disable DVFS via root, 85% of the lag is gone just like that.

Not at all but it will trip knox and your software warranty will wear off.
I just give up to play Need for Speed No Limits on my S7 Edge Exynos. Is just impossible to play after 5 minutes.
Just as a information I played the same game on a old Galaxy S4 Mini witch has much lower hardware specs, and no problems at all. Samsung just lie when says a S7 is a phone for games
the hardware is there, the software is limiting and yes that annoying, guys just spam their twitter account and try to go to higher ranks, if we all work together something might happen.
Make sure you don't have any accessibility services enabled. I had to have it enabled for a swipe down to open the notification drawer in my launcher, but discovered that enabling any accessibility service really slows down the entire phone.

S7 Edge Exynos GPU throttle

I've been using s7 exynos variant for quite some time and it's a very nice phone but there's one huge problem with it, when I start playing some games like modern combat 5, Hit etc at first I get 60 fps then after some time the performance drops. It's probably due to aggressive gpu throttle as the device barely gets warm. Is there any way to disable the gpu throttle?
Have you tried Samsung Games Tuner on playstore?

My phone is rooted with xposed installed so I'm ready to make some modifications to the system
BUMP
Firstly, i have no idea what modifications you could make as i dont have any issues like what you report.
Secondly, modifying any throttling is inherently dangerous. A slight tweak and your phone could overheat and batteries tend to explode when overheated! You've been warned!
I would suggest you look at whether its an app issue before doing something that could brick, damage or destroy you phone. Its also kinda jumping the gun a little to say straight away its GPU throttling as it could be CPU doing work of the GPU due to a dev error (and thats seriously slow!) or even a delay due to loading graphics from an SD card etc.
Also, it could very well be root related...

Try uninstalling xposed and be happy with a phone which works as it should (and gain the ~25% performance lost because of xposed...)

Thanks but I have had this problem before installing xposed
It's not root related, i know exactly what you're talking about. I sold my S6, got an S7 just because of this problem. Exact same problem. Now i have the S7 edge, still the same. I dont know what's the problem, but it's very annoying.
Works fine on my shield tablet though
All i can suggest now is to wait for Modern Combat Versus, hopefully it will be better optimised, with Vulkan support
Update : So I recently updated my phone with Nougat and the problem still exists BUT I have noticed something weird, As I said before the game loses fps in less than a minute (it's still quite playable but it's definitely not 60fps), when I press the recent button/key and jump out of the game and press it again and get right into it again I start getting 60fps, then again after a minute I lose the frames.

This is exactly what happened to me,and weird thing you mentioned has been there since marshmallow, this is very weird, some games that isn't even gpu extensive also experience fps drops here and there on both my snapdragon s7 edge and exynos s7
Also weird such a beast machine couldn't run psp emulator without fps drop
Been waiting for more than half year for the fix or solution without rooting

I think I've found a solution but it requires root. if your device is rooted then install any kernel manager that supports your rom (I use EX Kernel Manager) and choose the "high performance" profile for both the cpu and gpu. no overclocking is required. now I get full fps all the time. Actually the device throttles the cpu after some time when a resource heavy app is launched (I've done my own testing with on-screen cpu monitor app) so selecting a high performance profile disables the throttling but keep in mind, the device tends to get hotter than usual but not too much. hope this helps

Looks like you have done enough of troubleshooting...I had a phone form UK once and when I called Sony, they told me that phone is international and they won't have parts in US to fix it.
1) You mentioned something about "factory settings", did you mean you did factory reset?
2) Have you also try to re-flash firmware using Samsung software, there was an option for this. Before we had Samsung Kies to do it, I just don't know if it still available for S8. When you do factory reset, it just erases your data and starts from the beginning, but re-flashing is much better, because it flashes the whole firmware and "may" help you eliminate issues.

Right! There could be that GPU has a bad thermal paste and possibly gets hot... Oh, while typing this I got an idea. Try getting an app that shows GPU temperature of your device while lets say you load a game and try to play it for 2-5 minutes. Then with that app, measure before and after gameplay. We need a game that is GPU intensive such as Modern Combat 5 and Need for Speed - No Limits or something similar. Then compare with other users.
