Shoud i buy one? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello
I'm currently using One M8 and i wanna buy a new phone. Does the S7E will get big support from developers? How is the battery comparing to i6S+ & Note 5?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

I moved from HTC M8 to S7 edge. There are a few things I miss from the M8, the Boomsound speakers were great, the IR blaster, MHL support I used a lot and the dual LED flash/torch on the M8 was great also.
The edge is still a really nice device though! I would think the edge will have good support as it is proving to be very popular.

Note 3 or G2

I'm about to upgrade (through sprint) and I'm trying to decide which to get.
My pros and cons.
Note 3:
Pro- 5.7 screen with no software buttons, expandable memory, (maybe care about battery and stylus)
Con- Camera with (no OIS), does not operate on all three bands of Sprints LTE (actually just one band)
G2:
Pro- Able to use it in an armband when jogging, better camera, [email protected] PPI, Tri-band LTE for Sprint, new to me android skin, IR blaster(I would probably use this more than a stylus)
Con- Dev support compared to Note 3, software buttons (could be fixed with PIE after rooting), cluttered notification drop down (my opinion), no SD
Not trying to start a flame war just want to get opinions.
The G2 looks to be a really nice device bit the lack of expandable storage is a deal breaker for me. If the G2 had 64g internal maybe I could live with it.
I like the large screen on the note plus the killer battery life which even if its marginally better than my N2 will still be amazing.
My vote N3 all the way.

You've posted this in the Note 3 forum, you're going to get a lot of biased answers. The fact that you've posted it here already shows what you're hoping people will convince you to pick.
Note3 has an IR blaster as well FYI.

Note 3 hands down. G2 is just another phone that has nothing that sets itself apart other than being new.
Did not know about the IR blaster.
Also I posted in both the G2&Note 3 forums so I could get opinions from both sides.
Thanks for the input so far.

How do you find the storage. I like being able to plug in a microsd (though it's mainly full of nandroid backups)
Can you use otg in recovery?
It doesn't matter what phone soon, with glass and the moto 360, will we even get a phone out of our pockets in the next few years anyway
Whatever it is, will likely be an American model for whatever I choose. I will probably end up buying it off of the Google Play Store, as I don't like the bloat that the OEM's put on the phones. My wife has a MotoG that was purchased recently, and except for the MicroSD expandable storage and the removable battery, it meets all the specifications of the SGS III. It suits her fine, but I find these aspects a nessecity in a mobile phone. I don't know what my next phone will be, but it must be able to take MicroSD cards, and have a removable battery.
Oppo find 7
The hardware speaks for itself.

I'll buy a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact now.
My S3's display shattered for the second time now and I am fed up with minor annoyances with CM11 (no 5 GHz Wifi, Bluetooth range problems (maybe related), battery drain after 1st call). The bloated stock firmware doesn't attract me either.
Additionally, Samsung's open source support is mediocre.
Plus, the S3 screen could be a bit smaller for my hands.
Don't get me wrong – the S3 is a great phone, there are just some small details that annoy me. Oh, OLED display – how I love it...
But when I get the chance to unlock a Z1 bootloader or get an unlocked phone, I'll switch.
So far I'm not impressed with the lineup, so I'm sticking with the S3 for now.
The new HTC One looks really nice but I can't live with such a crappy camera. And I don't wanna buy another Samsung phone so the Galaxy S5 is out.
The Sony Xperia Z2 seemed nice, but it's just way too large for me. I'm hoping for a Z2 Compact to come out soon. If it keeps the awesome specs of the Z2 in a small package, I am so sold!
The One Plus looks interesting, but I got a feeling it will be in short supply initially, and by the time it's available the LG G3 is probably out and some leaks of the new Nexus will probably be out.
All in all, an interesting year if you're patient Also the S3 is serving me fine, running a Kitkat ROM on it and it flies and feels as new. My only gripe is that im missing a lot of the Samsung features (camera features, face detection, Allshare etc), but if the elusive offical Kitkat update from Samsung ever comes, there might not even be a need to update my phone this year
Switched to Note 3 few months ago.. Fully stasified.. But miss my zero lemon battery

I have already ordered Note 3 so that's what I will have as main phone ans s3 as a secondary one, it's so good to leave it behind or sell it. Note 3 for the bigger screen, stylus and snapdragon 800.

Anything from Samsung that has 3gb ram or so. (Watch the SGS 5 vs HTC One M8 video multitasking comparison. S5 has pretty bad micro lags, and multitasking sucks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DChf8nhi2tM&feature=youtu.be&t=1m24s) Not note series. Hopefully Gs5 Prime.
S5, as soon as it will be added to the SlimRoms supported devices
One plus one announced tomorrow, LG G3 next

[Q] which one should i buy? Nexus 5 or Galaxy s5 ?

Hello Brothers,
i am just confused right Mobile for me, is Nexus is slow than s5? if we dont look at Snap 801. i am not camera user,
but yea i like Music, one more Advantage of Nexus 5 is, its cheaper than s5, i can buy s5 but if nexus 5 is better to go for this year so what u say,
i dont like other models, i am just confused in btween Nexus 5 or S5 .
Thanks in Advance.
The Nexus 5 will feel more responsive than the S5, but the S5 is still VERY fast and snappy. When you use those two devices one after the other, you will feel a difference.
since you don't really mind that much about camera, i won't mention that the Galaxy S5 has a far superior camera (woops )
but the Galaxy S5 has a wayyyyyy better battery life.
Really depends how deep your pockets are and if you are willing to spend the extra money for IP67, removable battery, longer battery life.

Music quality through headphone jack should not be a noticeable difference.
And yes Nexus 5 will get quicker updates, so that might also be a reason to get a Nexus 5 if you care about fast updates.
Also if you need expandable storage, that is something the S5 provides that the Nexus 5 does not.

M8 if you like the slippery metal body. Sense 6 is more responsive too. better dark light photos
S5 has a higher megapixel camera so it captures more detail when there is sufficient light. Water and dust resistant, removable battery. Hardware keys. Non of that locked bootloader S-On crap, but there is Knox instead...
Also comes down to preference if you want AMOLED or LCD. LCD provides accurate colours, while AMOLED produces more vibrant and saturated colours with true black

I was in the same position as you but there was some reasons I went with the galaxy S5 like the fingerprint scanner. I find it works brilliantly for my thumb print, I registered my thumb at 3 different angels and it works perfectly. The S5 is water and dust resistant which means you won't be worried about the rain damaging your phone. Swappable battery also means when the battery breaks its not an expensive job sending it to the manufacturer, you can just bye a new one. The camera also captures a lot of detail and I find the photos to be really good quality (when the light is right anyway), also the user interface is a lot nicer on the S5 and with a custom rom it is very fast.
I find that the S5 personally is better because you can have the higher security, better camera and it is still a very good phone. If you can wait then maybe wait for the updated Galaxy S5 (prime or F series) as it will have a metal case, bigger resolution screen and more ram too.

S5 battery is way superior. Camera too.
Nexus 5 is faster in some cases thanks to being pure Android. Touchwiz is considerably heavier. Multitasking is better in the N5.
G900H has a Wolfson chip for audio which are better in specs compared to the Snapdragon's DAC, the difference could be minimal. Even the 801 has a great DAC.
S5 also has USB Audio capability out of the box.
You gonna post every day the same question with a different device? :victory: seriously... Choose something and be happy with it. Although right now would be a terrible time to get a new phone.
By the time you finally decide onto something there will be an S5 Prime, M8 plus, LG G3 and Nexus 6...

Anyone moving to Nexus 6P?

Hey I have ordered 6P, will compare and see how it is upto against our S6 edge+.
Anyone else done that too?

Why would we downgrade??
I agree. I think our S6 Edge + is THE top Android phone of the market. Only an IPhone 6s Plus can battle our beast and ours beat it with the camera.

Few reasons:
Aosp is better than tw and rom support will be high
Battery is bigge4 and marshmallow has doze feature as well
Front 8mp shooter
Rear camera is better in dark/indoors(from camera review)
Aluminum body
Future proof

not everyone roms, AOSP being better is a matter of opinion. Hardware will definitely be ****tier, Most upgrade their phone every year now with jump plans from their carriers. The future proof thing is a thing of the past i dont know one person who keeps a phone anymore longer than a year.
I think it's nice, but I love the S6 edge+. Nothing the nexus offers appeals to me. I wear a Samsung Gear S everyday too.
If it had a removable battery and an SD card slot then we could talk.

Just my opinion but the 6P is fugly!
Why did they have to change how the 6 was?
I get the keeping up with the Jones' (finger print reader).
But wait as eventually EVERYTHING will be done through the display.
I cannot wait for that, touching the display ANYWHERE to unlock the phone!

I agree specially when I am rocking the gear s also with my edge plus Sexy combination.
I might switch to a 6p, not sure if i like the front camera on the s6e+ , colors are kinda off and it makes my face look spotty compared to other phones example: iphone 6.

Aosp better than touchwiz according to whom?
Battery is bigger, so is the phone, its pretty huge.
I highly doubt that the nexus camera will be as good as the edge plus.
The S6 edge plus is more future proof than the nexus because of more ram, a MUCH better SoC (that S810 is not going to be a good look).
The nexus is a downgrade. Just because it comes after the edge plus doesn't make it better.
Why the f*+k would you want to do that..
Are you slow??

Nova launcher - far better than TW and close to stock Android
Battery is bigger granted but i doubt it's THAT superior in real life terms of battery life
Not really concerned about front camera, the main camera on the S6 Edge Plus is the best in the business with the exception of the Sony Xperia Z5 )not mentioned in this link but the Z5 is the best) https://www.androidpit.com/best-android-phone
Aluminum body is nice but this is by far and away the best and slickest phone on the market, anytime in travelling i can see people looking at it.
Best screen on any phone.
Might not have Marshmallow right now but as soon as the source code are released the devs will have ROMs in no time
Not to mention the price of the Nexus 6 in Europe anyway is outrageous compared to USA, It's a staggering €649 on Google store in Ireland and the specs are not as good as this phone.
So for those reasons im glad i choose this phone.

Not according to the Engadget review: http://www.engadget.com/2015/10/19/nexus-6p-review/
While I'd give the nod to the 6P over the standard Nexus 6 in most cases, this updated camera still leaves plenty to be desired in the dark. This is a solid all-around performer, but it's not significantly better than the Nexus 6, and it doesn't hold a candle to cameras from rivals like Samsung.
That being said, I think the 6P is a great device and one I would strongly consider if I had to choose a new device.

Are you gonna upgrade Note 5 to Galaxy S7?

Just a quick survey to find out if and why
No. Only things better on S7 is IP68 and microSD slot. It will be great to see this in N6.
For the moment for me N5 is better than S7
Nope, none of the new features are a must have for me

- Faster and better battery life
- I definitely prefer samsung bloarware

How is Marshmellow treating you?
It's a marketing strategy game, nothing is so that amazing with the S7/edge just few upgrades to the S6 which were on the S5, they are bringing back the old features to attract customers, and thats gonna happen to the note 6, micro sd, bigger battery capacity and maybe IP68
Nope. S pen and screen size. Will wait for Note 6

Yep Note 5 camera stand tall, nothing to be ashamed off. i would like to test the S7 Edge personally to see how camera perform in low light, then probably wait for Note 6 as it will have 4000mah at least.
No
I ordered an S7 edge, but keeping my note 5 too.
I am looking forward to the smaller screen in the S7 - I am not a huge fan of large phones though. Water resistance is also something I will use, so that's welcome.

Do you guys have any guess as to how battery of s7 edge will compare to note 5 (aside from saying it's 20% bigger)? Coming from s6 they did some black magic to note 5 battery

Going to the S7 Edge because of the change to the Snapdragon processor. Should mean universal Rom support with AOSP & Cyanogen based development.

Yep switching to the S7 Edge for the snapdragon and hopes for asop and roms.
I absolutely love my Note 5 but that S7 edge is damn sexy. I'm really tempted but I think I'll try and wait for the Note 6.
Unfair poll, if it was a note 6 vs our beloved note 5 with outstanding features built in the upcoming note, our votes would be mixed then. I don't see much added value in switching to a lower powered version of my phone. Without a pen.
