It's in the apps drawer in a folder called Samsung. Go to Galaxy Apps and at the top (on main store window) is a banner titled Galaxy Essentials. That's where you can download the video app, music, and a few others.

Search music player in Galaxy apps. Should be the first one

They made the new Music Player app waaaaaay better by the way. I made sure to disable Google Play Music as it just doesn't compare in my opinion.

Google Music (beta) oddness

I'm a participant in Google Music (beta). I gotta say that I love it. Not having all that music on my devices is wonderful.
However, here's an oddity that I can't seem to fix or explain.
I ripped a CD to my collection on my PC on Friday. Saturday when I went to play that album on my Galaxy Tab it was there and played fine. Perfect.
Then, yesterday, I went to play this same album using Google Music (beta) on my Thunderbolt. It wasn't there. I couldn't find it in Artists, Albums or with search. Gone. I went back to look at my Tab and, yes, it's still on there.
So, the question is: Why doesn't my Thunderbolt have the new album? Is there a way to refresh Google Music?
Should I uninstall and reinstall Google Music?
Both the Tab and the Thunderbolt are running version v3.0.1.339

I think it's there. Click on menu then library option. Select offline only, then again select all music. I know we have a refresh option on the tab version of the google music.

Thanks for the tip. But, no change. Still can't find the artist.
This happened to me on my phone. I went to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Music > Clear Data
Be sure to select the Music icon with the headphones. My phone has a pre-installed app called Music as well.
When you open the app up it will refresh all settings & data.

Having a "hidden folder" issue

I have search the forums and not found what I'm looking for so I will start a thread.
I just used Google play to purchase a album and I selected the download to device option so I wouldn't have to deal with any storage in the cloud. the issue is when I scan folders for new music or using the power amp app, it cannot find this new music. I have used root explorer and can not find the folder Google play placed my purI feel pretty stupid starting a thread for this but any help would be appreciated
Sorry, but when you purchase music from Google Play you have to use their app to play it back, which is Play music. I do not believe there is an option to download your music, because it is a cloud based service. Amazon mp3 is the same thing as google play music, but you have the option to download your music rather than only stream it, which is much better imo.

I was afraid this is what I would find out. I normally purchase my music from Amazon via the download function. Kinda pissed I made the purchase now and can't burn a copy of it for the CD player in the car.
He is correct, can "only" be played via the Google Music app, but there is a work around. Amazon does let you download instantly, but music is 260kbs, Google is 320kbs. You can download your google Music on your pc and manually transfer to your device like any other mp3, or even upload it to amazon and download from there.
Google Music removes the instant dl, but adds full mp3 quality sound.
You then can use any music app.

This is correct... The website allows 2 downloads of each song, presumably so you don't download it to all of your friends computers.
However, you will find the files under /data/data/com.google.android.music/files, but unfortunately the filenames are just numbers, again presumably because they don't want you to copy the songs. It will just be a pain to find which is which.

No Stock Music Player app?!?!?

I finally put some music on my external sd card and went to play it. Lo and behold I can't find the stock music app and when I try to open the file from a file manager app it just wants to upload it to box. What the hell am I missing here?
Just download Play Music or any other music app from the Play Store

I was planning on doing that but I guess I was just surprised because every other phone I've used has a stock music app.
Are there any apps that have notification controls and lock screen controls?
[PLAY MUSIC] is the stock music app.

apps i like for this phone

so i was thinking to start some conversation here by listing some apps i like and having you guys list stuff you like. i want this to be mostly about like system apps replacements (music players, launchers, etc.)
to start, i use nova launcher, and i actually bought prime a couple weeks ago. amazing launcher if you've never tried it before.
for a music player, i use Omich Player (can be downloaded here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.omichsoft.player)
this is a really fast, simple music player that kinda looks like the really old versions of Google Play Music, but without any of the cloud crap and it's free. unfortunately it doesn't have gapless playback for me (but anything using the android music API on ICS doesn't have gapless) and i'm not a huge fan of pirating apps on android (malware gets spread pretty easily through cracked APKs)
next up, for a file manager, i use the OI File Manager (can be downloaded here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openintents.filemanager)
ever since i had cm7 i really liked this file manager, even though it doesn't have root permissions, but it's simply one of the best solutions out there. nice, clean interface, easy to use, open source, and it just works really well. the latest version has some UI glitches every now and then, but i hardly use it anyway so it's fine. file managers are just nice to have around, especially this one.
oh and there's also the obvious titanium backup with pro version (you need the pro version, it's seriously gimped without it)
media player: aimp got android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aimp.player
file browser:ES file explorer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop
skin: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mycolorscreen.themer
video: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mxtech.videoplayer.pro can actually play 720p mkvs
weather Wunderground https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wunderground.android.weather THE BEST weather app ever seriously try it ..
backup: twrp recovery lol
Launchers......Nemus, Nova, or LauncherPro
