What's Mean Vendor image ? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

when i need it? i have unlock my bootloader with TOOLKIT and install new ROM
i have build mmb29u.
its goods? when i need to change it?
thanks

When your Vendor image needs updating the device will notify you that you need to update it. If this is the case you can the flashable files from the Pure Nexus thread and flash them with the latest version of TWRP.

Every time there is a new build vendor number of the android, you will need to update the vendor image. You will only have to do this once, but you will have to flash a older vendor image if you planning to use a rom that has a older build number. Rom must match Vendor build number. If it does not, then you need to update.

Htc One Developer Edition 4.3 rom.zip available Ruu coming soon

Here is official htc one developer edition 4.3 rom.zip link and soon ruu will be posted too
http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
The download for the zip is now there.
How is the zip flashed - is stock recovery required ?
I currently have a S-OFF device with 11111111 CID. Will this flash ok or will I also need to the change product id ?
Probably need to change MID but why do you want to run a US-based ROM? I'd just wait for the EU build personally
Having said that, you just flash it in fastboot after 'fastboot oem rebootRUU'

if you dont have developer edition one there is no point of having this zip. i would advice to install INSERTCOIN or ARHD which are now based on this update. you can keep everything stock on insertcoin so it will save you alot of hassel plus you can add addition tweaks you like
and when update hits your region you can get ota by running your region ruu

Warning!

Some people said that you can update your lovely device to the Chinese firmware version. That is true! It works. However, motorola updated the bootloader version for the Chinese firmware. If can never downgraded to the original 5.0 for XT1095 or others because the bootloader does not support that. Here are three ways for you if you do not want to use the Chinese firmware: The first one is what I did which is to contact Motorola and replace a phone for FREE. The second one is to flash the XT1092's 5.0.2. It works too although I did not try that. The third way is to wait the official 5.0.2 firmware for XT1095.
Just a warn to those who want to update your lovely device

I think is precipitated to say "never"
The boot loader on the Chinese version is new I agree. But eventually Motorola will upgrade all the boot loaders to that version, even the Pure editon. When Motorola will decide to upgrade all to the new motoboot even the pure pure edition won't be able to return to <5.0.2.
So, you can try it yes, just avoid to flash Motoboot.img
Flashing any 4.4.4 to any 5.x already updates the bootloader and it cannot be downgraded. You can downgrade all of the other files though and the phone will work just fine.
Have you tried manually flashing(mfastboot) all of the other files to downgrade? If they are preventing the downgrade of the entire OS this is something new, and to be honest I don't believe that they are.

Before using RSDLite you must replace the files of KitKat (gpt.bin and motoboot.img) with those firmware Lollipop otherwise you can not do the downgrade. I pass easily from 4.4.4 to 5.0.2 and 5.0 and my Moto X XT1092 works perfectly.

actually you can downgrade via TWRP, just flash the restore files of system and boot
Via Fastboot you cannot downgrade because when you are trying to flash the system.img the phone says image is too large, although the fastboot windows says OK but the phone will stuck at logo.
Via RSD I have not tryed, but maybe later today will do.
Resuming, if you flash via fastboot the motoboot.img you wont be able to flash system images older than the version the bootloader is meant to, but if you use any other method you can easily downgrade and upgrade.

Of course. I've tried manually flash except motoboot or gpt.
This will just make your phone sucks at the boot logo

Flashable zips for system and radio would be the simplest thing for everyone. I would love to create them but don't even know where to start. Is there a reason no one has done it yet? That is the first thing to happen for nexus devices.

Need Stock Recovery for 1.62.400.1 Dual Sim

I have a HTC U Ultra Dual Sim version from Singapore. Since I am a new HTC user I flashed TWRP without backing up my original recovery. Now I am unable to take OTA's. I extracted stock.img from my new update package and flashed it but still the OTA update failed. I can't find any RUU or factory image for my particular model.
If anyone can provide me with a sock recovery package that matches my current software number 1.62.400.1 it will really help me out. Or if anyone can provide me with further guidance on how to return to 100 percent stock, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Procuring original Stock ROM from Motorola

Hello XDA-mates !
I own a Moto X Play 32 GB, Dual Sim - XT1562. I had unlocked the bootloader, Flashed TWRP and rooted using SuperSu, all is well.
I no longer wish to have an unlocked bootloader and root and wanna fallback to Stock ROM with Locked bootloader.
Which as per my knowledge can be done by flashing a stock Rom.
The problem now is I am not able to find it in Motorola's portal / repository, and customer care was of no help.
Coming to the questions now..
- Is it necessary to flash Entire ROM package or would just flashing the recovery and bootloader by extracting it from the compressed package work as I am already on Stock ?
- Has Motorola provided Rom's For XT-1562 at-all ? (not XT-1563, its there for XT-1563)
- How can I trust Stock ROM's available on XDA forums or Github, there is no authentication / checksum ( MD5 / SHA #) nor information about the source / origin of those files.
- How did the up-loader's get those files ?
- How can I get those ROM files ? while OTA updates download ? How ?
Thank you for going through the post

First u need to know that, once u relock the bootloader, u can't able to unlock it and even if u relock the bootloader, u can't rid of bootloader unlocked warning (it can be hide by flashing custom bootlogo)
My suggestion is that don't worry leave it unlocked and flash custom bootlogo that can hide bootloader unlocked warning.
After do that, If u want flash stock rom, just skip logo.bin file.
There is so many nougat roms for MXP, u should try one of them.
Flash this file from AnoopKumar's thread, this can hide the bootloader unlocked warning.
Fastboot command: (fastboot flash logo logo.bin)
Mfastboot command: (mfastboot flash logo logo.bin)

I have never tried relocking but "fastboot oem lock" seems to lock in most cases.
And also, " fastboot oem unlock <UNIQUE_KEY_FOR_YOUR_DEVICE>" unlocks it and once the key is obtained it should be reusable!
Though I would request the veterans to comment on it.

I won't comment on your security concerns but I used this repository https://github.com/motoxplay/stock and it seems to work out for my Moto X play XT1562 Dual Sim 16 GB model. I am an active user of the XT1562 ROM on 7.1.1 and Build no. NPD26.48-24-1 for Asia and Dual sim. No apparent security issues faced!
Would be awaiting for more answers..
Thank you Smyaknti,
Currently I have installed Lineage, loving it.
But have downloaded the Roms from Github for any urgent future necessity.
It's strange was checking Asus site they provide all software stuff easily, even kernel source..
Wondering have I not searched enough ? they must have provided it some where... only then custom kernels were made right.. so Roms, Kernel's would be available somewhere, maybe in some specific region or some moto dev portal..

Moto g5 plus stock ROM

I'm having Moto g5 plus Indian variant xt1686. I have installed a custom ROM Resurrection remix and I'm currently running it.I want to get back to stock rom. I went through many existing threads only to get myself confused. I want you guys to help me get back to stock ROM so that I can get OTA updates.
1. I have working volte and IMEI till now. I didn't take back-up of persist or efs as I was lacking knowledge. Can I take back-up of those now for going back to stock. If yes then suggest how?
2. I don't remember my build number from which I unlocked my bootloader. Should I lock the bootloader again to get OTA? If not then please suggest any way to get back to stock whether Oreo or nougat (get updates to Oreo then).

From what I believe, you should definitely backup your EFS and Persist right now while it's all good.
If you don't remember your last stock build number, it is safe to use the latest build for your region.
Once you flash a fastboot ROM and everything's good to go, there's absolutely no need to relock bootloader as the script in the OTA only checks for system modifications and if it finds any on your phone, the OTA will not be applied and the update will eventually fail. To ensure that you are able to apply OTAs without any hassle, I recommend you don't do ANY system modifications like root or camera mods or similar. Stick with the core OS and you'll be good to go.
You can alternatively use TWRP flashable ROMs by @NZedPred, they're like a newbie-proof solution to getting to stock ROM from virtually any ROM without losing any functionality as they only flash the OS part of the ROM and rarely do any changes to the HW functionality of the ROM like Radios and Sensors. If all else fails, you can always flash a TWRP flashable stock and be ready to go.
Or
You could simply download the Oreo fastboot ROM with the August security patch which is available at the moment but isn't the latest one as the latest October security patch rolled out to RETIN devices just a few days ago so I doubt that the full fastboot ROM would be available this early. But then again, if you flash the Oreo August patch, you can take the OTA to October patch and be just fine.
Note:
But a bit of advice, if you're planning to go back to Nougat using a Nougat fastboot ROM, I'd highly recommend the TWRP flashable as one can mess stuff up while trying to downgrade using a fastboot ROM as Moto phones have problems downgrading. It's all about these two partitions called "gpt" and "bootloader" which when not paying attention to while flashing can cause a hard-brick.
A safer approach would be to skip these two partitions while using a fastboot ROM to downgrade but I'd be honest and would suggest you to wait to be sure this would work as I myself haven't tried this while downgrading from one Android version to another as Oreo bought with itself some Modem and a few other changes in partitions as compared to Nougat.
If I were you, I would wait for some to confirm the part in the "Note" just to be absolutely sure that it'd work.
Thanks for the response

I'll be going with your suggestion and flash the twrp flashable oreo.
