Nexus 7 (2012) unrecoverably dead? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an old Nexus 7 running stock bootloader/OS, that someone started a factory reset on (possibly by using the hidden 4th button under the casing), but is now stuck on the "Erasing..." mode.
I've tried every button combination I can think of to boot the device into a different mode, but it is determined to always return to this Erasing screen. Is there a nack to accessing the bootloader (I've tried just holding power button and volume down for a very long time, hammering the volume button during reboot, tapping it once when I see the Google white text on black background, but to no avail), or is it impossible from this mode?
Sometimes I'll manage to boot it into APX mode, where the screen is black, but the PC recognizes the device, but I'm not sure what use this is?
This is a picture of the mode I'm stuck in:

Have you checked ADB is working or not. Try with nexus root toolkit, it may help you out.

Galaxy S black screen

Hi all, I have a galaxy s and was going to install a new rom. I saved the rom to the sd card and pressed the power button to go into recovery mode, the screen went black as usual but never rebooted and the screen stayed black. I connect it to the pc and it tried to load some driver something to do with "test driver" but anyway the screen stays black and the phone does nothing. Any ideas how to fix this without sending back to Samsung. Thanks for any ideas. Wayne.
Does the phone show the samsung logo at the beggining or is it just dead black?

the same problem with me today blank screen, no vibration, no download/recovery mode, anything. The only sign of life is when I connect it to my PC, it detects a new device named SEC S5PC110 Test B/D , request a driver
You should send it back to Samsung. I'm thinking that its more than a software (ROM) problem when even download/recovery mode isn't working.
Same happened to me, try to get your phone back in restore mode with the three button trick. Amd reinstall the image again... it will work..
mine is just black does nothing except request a driver when i connect it to a pc. SEC S5PC110 TEST B/D. thats all it will do.
It is probably the deep sleep coma bug (I've had it ever since I flashed to 2.3.4).
Hold the power button down for 10 seconds and it should reboot the phone.
Remove the battery, leave the phone disconnected from the PC and get the phone in restore mode. Then when that succeedes, connect the phone to the PC.
I heard this problem in other forums when users flash a wrong rom or firmware. Only samsung can repair your device.
Try to access download mode: vole down button + home button + power button if you can access this let me know

[Q] impossible to restart/boot Nexus 7

Hi there, have a specific problem, tried to google and search through the forum but no success.
I have stock ROM with 4.2.1 android, no root etc., I was browsing web via Firefox, opened 3 pages, battery cca 48% when suddenly everthing freezed, even home button and whole screen become unresponsive. I pressed the Power button for several seconds to turn it off and to restart it, however the screen is off all the time. I have tried to do hard reset, hold the power button for 30-180 seconds, hold all 3 hardware buttons for 30-180 seconds, hold just power and one volume button, connect to PC (always connects as Unknown device, not able to load any driver), tried all of this with and without power supply connected. After all this I am still not able to boot the device. Any idea?
Try unbricking Nexus 7 guide
Hi, you should always be able to get your Nexus 7 back to factory defaults by following one of the many "unbrick nexus 7" guides, like:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1781250
Good luck !
unfortunately I am not able to flash it as my screen is still black, I do not see whether it is on or not, I am also not able to connect it to computer as it still pops up message that the device is unknow and I am not able to install any driver for it, nor automatically, nor google usb drivers... still getting unknown device message...
I'd just return it to Google and get a new one

Click to collapse
Ouch ! That sounds like a broken device to me. I'd also RMA it.
Have you try plugging your tablet into your charger and check if your device is charging or not? (you'll see a battery status in the center of the screen) if so try to charge it for an hour or so and then after that try to press the ff.
while your tablet is off press and hold both vol. up and vol. down button then press and hold the power button. keep it press for at least 10 secs. and see if you can go/access your fastboot mode..
charged for more than 4 hours, tried that, did not helped, already sent for repair... hopefully will be changed for new one...
Just pry off the back and unplug the battery, ubereasy and will work fine again. Unless you got a lemon

[Q] Nexus 4 Blank Screen

Hi All,
I have dug, and dug, and dug some more, but I can't seem to find out wtf is going on with this phone.
I was attempting to flash back to stock using these instructions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312) on my windows 8 machine. However, after the last step (Step 14 in section D), my nexus simply went blank. And stayed that way. Now, I can tell the backlight is turning on, however nothing is displaying on the screen. Also, my computer is no longer recognizing it. All I can manage to get out of it is my computer is a noise after I hold down power and volume down, along with a red flash of the notification led. The backlight will stay lit, but the screen isn't even turning on. It is also not showing up as a device, adb is simply returning "waiting on device" (or similar), and it is not returning the serial number after typing "fastboot devices".
Is it possible I hard bricked it somehow? I'm at wit's end here. and I would MUCH appreciate any and all help.

[WiFi] [1st Gen] - hardbricked? Doesn't boot but Windows makes a sound when plugged

I also posted a thread on Android Central.. Sorry I can't post links
Hi guys,
So last night when I was working on a website design, I decided to test it on a tablet too. So I asked my dad if I can take his tablet and he told me that I can and once I'm done to restore it because it's very slow. I decided to restore it before using it so I don't lose time while long loading happen.
Initial status:
- rooted
- Android 4.2 or 4.4 (he doesn't remember)(I don't remember since I used Nexus Toolkit with auto detection)
- debugger mod activated
- about 50% battery
So yeah, I plugged it to my computer. I chose Auto Detect Device from nexus toolkit. I selected "Device is on/Normal" from Flash Stock + Unroot. The Nexus 7 was unlocked.
The process started.. the Nexus 7 was on my desk and I was browsing the web when I realized that it was stuck on the Bootloader screen for some long minutes.. I stopped what I was doing and looked at it for 2-3mins and nothing changed. Then I took a look at the logs and I saw some errors that I don't remember.. I tried to use the volume buttons to switch the Bootloader options and nothing worked.. Then I decided to unplug the tabled and press Power Button and Volume Down. It stopped and never booted again.
Current status:
- can't boot
- can't reach Bootloader
- when I plug it to Windows, I hear the sound that Windows detected some USB but nothing popup
- when I press the Power Button and both Volume and the tabled it's plugged, I head some sounds like USB disconnect/connect
- no little flashing light at the bottom
- black screen
I tried all Power and Volume buttons combinations, plugged and unplugged.. nothing worked..
It's possible that my Bootloader was deleted? Anything I could try?
