Kcal settings Nexus 6P - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering what everyone has the kcal settings set to on this Nexus 6P. I find using sRGB mode seems a little washed out. Looking to get my screen as accurate as possible!

Best way is to root and change kernel.

Hi I've done this looking to see what people have set their values to. Looking to get as close to perfect color as possible so maybe someone has a tester or something. Someone out there must have done this.

Yes I was were you are 6 months ago. My G4 I used KPPD post processing config script, but you can't do that with the 6p. The best way I installed ElementalX kernel or Franco kernel and you can tune to your heart's content. There is a way because that's what sRGB is doing. I thought I found a place in stock settings where it can be done but I can't remember

Voltage control after flashing Franco kernel

What do you guys use to monitor and control the voltage of your cpus of your nexus 4 after flashing the Franco kernel?

you cant. not yet
Oh I thought I heard you could change the voltages with Franco kernel so I kept trying to see which apps work but found none thanks though what's limiting the nexus 4? Is there any other way to under volt?

Franco personally is not a fan of undervolting. He'll probably make sure the kernel is stable before he adds the undervolting feature. There's been a lot of ironing out going on with the kernel and adding undervolting capabilities would probably cause more trouble if its implemented now.

Safe undervolting limits on Matr1x 6.0 using trickster mod?

Hey gang, I recently started playing around with voltage settings and I've hit a roadblock.... I don't know what I'm doing. I know that Matr1x comes by default undervolted but I hear about guys going further and getting better battery life which honestly is what I'm after. If anybody has any suggestions on how much to undervolt safely feel free to chime in. Thanks in advance.

Every device is unique. You have to see what undervolting limits work for YOU. Just go down a step and see if that works, and if it does go down another step, etc.

Kernel refer

Can you refer me to a kernel that's out of the box ready to go? To be honest I am pleased with the stock kernel, which i am using, but I want a mod to make the in ear headset volume louder and supposedly I can't do that on stock kernel. So I need something close.
When I look through faux and Franco threads I get overwhelmed with all the settings and interfaces talked about.
Another thing is I like stock Google colors, not the darker ones a lot of the devs have been updating to.
Thanks

Go with Faux To the best of my knowledge if you flash Faux's kernel you retain stock Google color presets until you choose to tweak them via Faux's kernel management apps (you can also revert to Google presets via his app after experimenting with colors yourself). He does have an enhanced stock kernel if you want to keep as close to stock as possible.
As for volume or speaker settings he's got you covered there as well--check out his apps on GPlay. You don't have to feel overwhelmed because he does provide you with "recommended" settings on the various sliders & knobs within the app interface. And the enhanced performance & battery life you'll get is just gravy. Good luck!

With either Franco or Faux's kernel, no need to be overwhelmed by all the settings. They work just fine using the default settings out-of-the-box, and you can just change the settings that interest you.
Use Franco kernel. It's been amazing so far. Everyone is impressed with battery life and all. You don't need to mess with the settings. Just run as is.

M preview radio on Verizon better than 5.1 radio for me

There was a spot in my work building where text messages would get a -1 not sent error. With the m radio it works every time.
Flashed it last night. And it works better in my house than before.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Agreed. Same experience here, in low reception area in a box canyon in Oregon. Had 0 bars of service in house with VZW 5.1 radio; flashed M radio, and have 0.5-1 bars of 3G/LTE service now.
Keep those radio optimizations coming, Motorola!
So you guys are running 5.1.1 but with the M preview radios? I just got my N6 a week ago and the signal and battery life are terrible compared to my G3. Looking for solutions before giving up and sending this back to Motorola.

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try tonight and see how things are this weekend. As of right now I'm planning to return this and go back to my G3. I guess I'm hoping for a reason to keep this, as I love having a Nexus again.

Different question... is there a way to backup JUST the current radio before flashing this, the same way you can with a kernel?
How did you guys get the m radio to work.. I tried flashing the one from that link and it said unknown under my baseband and had no service... I had to go back to 98
I'm on Verizon and flashed that m radio zip
I'm on the m bootloader as well. I tried the preview and skipped the bootloader and radio flash when I went bact to chroma. HD calling works fine as well

You would just fastboot flash the old radio

I am running the M preview and I find that the radio works a lot better than the 5.1 radio
I flashed the M radio earlier today and so far I see a marked improvement. I'm no longer randomly losing my signal completely while at home. I also flashed a custom kernel and tweaked the color settings, so my screen looks much better as well. Let's hope my battery life improves as well. The need to charge in the middle of the day is quite annoying.

I downloaded Lean Kernel then an app to tweak the settings called Kernel Adiutor (the unusual spelling is on purpose). But any kernel adjusting app of your choice should work. Then I followed the info found in this post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59092146&postcount=3017
The screen's overly warm tones are cooler now. Plus the app I used has a high brightness mode that boosts the level up a bit, which is handy in bright sunlight.

Tried it and my eyes prefer warm better. Cool seems to dull and more fake to me. Guess whatever suits you! Thanks for the link.

Stock CPU governor settings

I would like to know if someone that is running stock ROM with Stock kernel and rooted to check what the governor and governor settings are
So, I have an Amazon ads enabled G4 that I got from a friend. While using CPU-Z I noticed that, at least what the app shows, is that four cores are always on, and two more turn on as needed. While the four that are always on are clocked at 1.21 gHz... We'll call these four "battery efficient" cores, it seems the other two that turn on as needed are clocked at 1.44 gHz or the "power" cores. At least for me, there is a total of four "power" cores but the extra two never come on.
In an attempt to save battery, I turned on the android battery saver on. With this enabled, the "power" cores turn off and do not come on at all. The four "battery efficient" cores stay on and what a difference between battery saver enabled compared to battery saver disabled. I also noticed all of these eight cores to have a minimum speed of 806 MHz.
So, I've been able to achieve over 6 hrs of Screen On Time. I could only dream of when I used my Moto X Pure Edition. I'm trying to figure out why the 808 while based off A53s does not achieve said Screen On Time, while a far inferior processor is able to do this with no problem.
Obviously I cannot root the phone to check it myself. Anyone care to discuss?

I know it's extremely hard to figure out what the stock governor and its stock settings are, however, I was hoping since we have so many great minds here at XDA that thus would be an attainable request ???

So, if you have a rooted moto G4, would be greatly appreciated if you share them stock governor setting and anything related to the kernel

I'm not rooted and I can't load the app right now but can't you see the settings even though you can't change them on a non-rooted phone?
I've tried, but I have not found a way or an app that shows the actual governor parameters settings. It only shows what governor is being used. @Tel864 do you know something I don't???
Anyone else that has their g4 rooted please help.
