Hi, so, I'm new here and I'm trying to root my verizon note 3 and i see a few threads saying ways but I'm not sure what to trust... I also apologize about this not being under the development thread but it wouldnt let me put it there since I dont have enough reputation points and whatnot. If you need my email, phone specs, etc, respond and I'll provide.
Much appreciated.

Thanks for such a fast response.
Baseband version: N900VVRUEOF1
Android version: 5.0 (Lollipop)
What exactly is a baseband version? I just copied that string from my phone settings, dont really know what it means
When an update gets pushed to our phones from Verizon or who ever our carrier is that changes..idk all the details I'm not an expert but they add new things and patches ect. To the phone and that will let you know what version you have. Now give me a little bit and I'll copy and paste where you should go to root you're phone, make sure the read everything and follow everything that say in the 1st post and you should be good..I've been rooting for about 6 years now since my DROID eris and just followed everything they said and never had a problem. I'm become more balley I guess now haven done it and know how to fix a bricked phone and have messed up but always manage to get it fix

Thank you!! Coincidentally my first phone was an Eris as well... Got it used for free from a friend and I only stopped using when the trackball crapped out
you can root Android version 5.0 Baseband version OF1 or OB6 with this method :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-note-3/general/ob6-of1-n900v-note-3-verizon-oneclick-t3333569
this method is the best way to root your phone from the other two.

Sadly, this link no longer works. What is the deal-e-o with these links?
Is there a conspiracy in place to prevent upgrades from 5.0 PL1?
Do you have a more resent suggestion that might get me to 7,8 or 10?
Thanks so much
I’m looking for this as well. Please suggest the procedure for baseband version N900VVRSEPL1 on Android 5.0

This is a thread to discuss the bounty thread for the bootloader found here.
Are there any developers who would like to come out of the woodwork and share their progress?
I'm not thinking many will if they are trying to get the bounty to themselves. If I were a developer I would be hesitant on sharing anything until it's finalized.
I know there are developers working on this. I know a few in person, and a small handful on XDA.

I'm not sure that there was much hope to start off with. I wouldn't count on this happening anytime soon personally.
I'm sure it will happen one day. The iPhone 4S took several months to jailbreak, but the point is they did it. They didn't even have a bounty to work with. If you need some custom ROMs now, getting a normal 9005 might be what you need.
I'm not worried about it for now. The stock rom is pimp as ****! It would b nice, but for now I'm more than happy! This phone is amazing.

However, RLDV is extremely easy if you follow the step-by-step that @designgears provided in his thread. Never used Kingo but it works and it's very easy as well.
Good morning guys, Please pardon my ignorance if you find anything dumb about this post, I just switched back to Android yesterday.
I want to side load 4.4.2 on my Verizon Note 3 Using Odin. I found this write up here --
http://androidcentral.us/2014/01/update-galaxy-note-3-to-android-4-2-2-kitkat/
A couple of things that concerned me were it has to be factory unlocked. "Make sure your phone is factory unlocked. It is compatible for both users". Being that it is global ready does that mean it is "unlocked"?
I know I should root but being that I just got it I want to make sure there is not anything wrong with it first etc as I heard once rooted its irreversible and Samsung would know (correct me if I am wrong).
Any follow up insight would be great thanks guy.
First question. Are you with Verizon? If yes, is the the developer edition? If no, then DO NOT FLASH THIS. The link you posted is for the international version of the note 3. Being able to use a Verizon n3 globally via adding that plan does not make it unlocked.
Also. There are a few other threads on this same exact topic.

I hope I caught you before you tried anything.

If you were to flash that it would most likely brick your phone. Just because you root your phone doesn't mean that it's permanently rooted or that "samsung will know". It's not hard to get rid of root access either. If you have never rooted a device before I suggest you do a little research on how to root your specific device before you start. There are a lot of write ups on XDA and other sites that will provide some very helpful information. I've read countless posts of people who rooted and started messing with files that they didn't know what they were for and ended up with a paperweight for a phone, all because they didn't take the time to search and read the forums first.
I have rooted my phone while not tripping KNOX, I am still on M17 4.3 that came with my phone. I am trying to upgrade to KitKat, as I have heard from numerous people in my area that the signal has improved dramatically for LTE and 4G.
1. How do I go about upgrading to KitKat without tripping KNOX or losing root? Is that possible at this juncture?
2. Can I upgrade to a custom Kitkat ROM while also recieving my signal upgrade? Or do I have to upgrade to an official firmware/ROM first before I recieve the better signal?
Thank you very much for the knowledge!!
Upgrading to stock 4.4 won't trip your knox but custom 4.4 will most probably do.
So should I take the Ota update or what? Will I lose root?

If you already have the ota for your carrier/device then go for it. You might loose root as this is official but you can root again after if that is the case.

There is a guide at the link below specifically for tmobile on how to upgrade to 4.4. Maybe you can post your question there as most likely someone in the same situation as you have posted there. As far as tripping knox, as long as you flash official 4.4 firmware it will not trip. Rooting and custom recovery on 4.4 I don't know since I don't have the tmo one.

Apparently you have not, and now you are whining around here about it without actually providing any information on what happened - were you unable to follow the procedure? Too bad for you Was it something in the procedure that could not work on YOUR SPECIFIC MODEL? I've gotten conflicting results when reading the forums about whether or not the G928T is rootable via Arter97's kernel. In how to guides I see evidence that it might be but on the Arter97 dev thread it says coming soon.. yet at the same time in update 3.6 it says "added support for T...".
Can anyone confirm if the Arter97 Kernel can be used to get root access on a G928T running 5.1.1?
Also, I woke up this morning to an update from T-Mobile... I'm assuming I shouldn't take the update if I plan to root? Anyone have any suggestion there?
The version #'s are as follows: G928TUVU2COI5/G928TTMB2COI5/G928TUVU2COI5 in the update details...

the only issue I had during the process is this:

I tried King root and it said it cannot root the phone. I have Feb 21 build of the 5.1.1 rom.
I think, Galaxy J3 serie is not capable for root. No cfautoroot database is not available for this device. But root may be possible on Galaxy J5 and J7.

Hi i am a user of samsung J3- SMJ320F(Bangladesh). Few days ago i had tried to root my phone using odin. I eanbled TWRP. FLASHED SUPER SU. After flashing my phone gone into bootloop. And sadness is I couldn't find any Firmware on any website for free for my device. so, i had to repair my device in a random shop; And they flashed SAUDI ARABIA FIRMWARE On my phone. And it cost me almost 3$ ....so, If there's any solution please let me know because i cant use my phone without root. and these bloatwares are really irritating. so anyone?

What it do folks. First of all, THANK YOU and I apologize. I dabble a bit more with my devices now and Ive had a lot more success then previous years and that would be due to the hard work you "techies" have dedicated and shared. So thank you for all the grueling and frustrating progress put in. I feel like I'm there with guys. As for my apology, I'm lost on singling out individuals that should recieve their just do. My bad. This is my first ever reply sort of like finally getting my feet on the steps in a refreshing icy summertime lake that holds now bounds. No brakes cause my foot is stuck on the gas.
I've rooted a few devices with KingRoot, KingoRoot PC edition was a success, and now the flag-ware Odin3(any version) takes the crown along with TWRP got my J327P 2016 from BST voided due to the cracks root has invaded with passion.
I thrive from any and all feedback and refuse to accept thats not possible or it cannot be done phrase; all I hear is "challenge accepted!" Please let me know if I'm not in the correct area for ranting but again thank you for all the knowledge and by all means charge on the great work!:good:
