Sprint Variant Marshmallow ROM - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright so i'm confused and reading around on here hasn't helped. I've flashed custom roms etc to previous phones no problem but with my S6 Edge+ i'm clueless now. I've got the G928P variant with G928PVPU1A0GD software version and i'd really like to get to marshmallow, i know there are still bugs etc i've read posts about battery drain and what not but doesn't really matter to me. I am rooted, have TWRP installed, but i'm just not sure what i need for 6.0.1. would anybody be willing to explain or point me the right way?

So far I have been unable to find any custom roms for g928p 6.x. There's little love for that model it looks like.

SM-G920R4 US Cellular 6.0.1 Root

If anyone wants to root their US cellular S6 Smg920r4 on 6.0.1, I know there's no section here for US Cellular, but this works perfect. It's the Sprint TWRP 6.0.1 Marshmallow root method. Just follow the instructions in the Sprint thread. Root in minutes thru Odin. Hope it helps someone else like me who was looking and looking for Sm-g920r4 specific root.

I've got xposed running with a few modules that are stable and somewhat supported on marshmallow. Again it's super easy to root your stock firmware on your US Cellular SM-G920R4 Galaxy S6. If anyone has any questions, please let me know. Thanks
Twrp
My s6 won't boot into system it boots into twrp recovery. And I did make a backup of my phone with Smart Switch and now Smart Switch tells my device is not supported. Any solutions?
What firmware were you on? Were you already on 6.0.1 and did you get it fixed yet
How did you get Xposed to work? Did you have to use a custom rom? If so what one did you use?
thank
Thank to me
I'm still hesitant to pull the trigger on this. I see questions being asked about things that I don't fully feel comfortable stressing about. Was this a successful way to root or a fluke that may work for some?
how to install edge screen on s6, just like s6 edge

I was able to root my device though a youtube video by "android doctor" but was not able to get his 7.0 ROM to load on my G920R4. Does anyone have a ROM they WERE able to work on this S6 variant? Thanks

For sure. US Cellular is small beans compared to the other major companies so its always been hard to find it. This is the first device I have ever struggled to find a way to do it though. All other took work, but this one is the only one so far that has been impossible.
I was able to get his ROM loaded onto my phone but there was a spot where I had to "select CSC" and US Cellular wasn't listed as one of them. I think T-Mobile and Rogers were the only USA companies that it had. Maybe I should have tried it by selecting T-Mobile or Rogers but I just didn't really know what to do. The one that I tried (which was a UK CSC - because it mentioned something about selecting it if yours wasn't listed..but I believe it was only talking about UK companies not listed) wound up getting the ROM to load but I had NO touch screen capabilities.
After 6 hours of getting that that point and having to reload the official Samsung ROM, I gave up and went to bed.
I wish I could find someone that has been through this already to lean on for some assistance but with this phone, it seems like no one has been first. Maybe that is my purpose in life.. But then again, I also don't want to completely brick my phone in the process. Maybe I'll try again tonight.

Can someone make a custom ROM for people like me?

Okay so I have a G935A (AT&T s7 edge) on 7.0 QC2 and since our bootloaders are locked we get kind of left out of the loop when it comes to custom ROMs etc. I was wondering if someone could make a ROM on 7.0 that is friendly with my device that I could flash using flash fire? I know there is ECHOED ROM but that is on marshmallow and I need a nougat one with like adaway and all the basic stuff you know. Hopefully with wifi calling still working too as I use that a lot. If you could help me find the right developer to talk to or get him to check the post out that would be helpful. Thanks.
Ask him
Try asking Luca Grifo aka Tkkg1994 he is one of the greatest devs for the s7

He said he doesn't support phones he doesn't own....
I take that as nobody can do it? Mine as well go back to stock unrooted then... RIP the dream...
Try devbade?
You could sell your 935A and buy a 935F, root it, use Tkkg1994's CSC selection tool to put AT&T volte/wifi calling on an international model (which is faster with better battery liferunning a S7 nougat rom in under an hour.

Advice for new s7 Root, rom, native hotspot etc...

Sorry if these topics have been posted before but I have spent hours on here and have yet to come up with a plan on what to do. I have a new Verizon s7 still in the box. I do not want to change phones until i get it working to my needs. I MUST have native hot spot working. On top of that i would like it rooted with Xposed and all that good stuff. I would like the newest Nougat, but if i have to settle with MM, that is fine. What are my options? Stock? custom? Thanks in advance.
P.S. I have read about the 930U unlocked version. I cannot seem to find detailed info on the most up to date nougat version. Where can i find it? Is it rootable?

Worth it to root Sprint s7 Edge at this point?

Hey guys, just looking for some opinions here on whether or not people think it's worth it to root the s7 Edge right now. I just picked one up and it has MM and binary 4 on it, so I figure I need to decide if I want to root it before taking any updates. Does the official oreo seem decent? Is there any way to make touchwiz feel less touchwiz-y without root? Thanks!
I would advise to not update to any build after october 2017 if you plan on switching between carriers other than sprint as sprint is the only carrier to have updated the bootloader to 5 and many seem to believe the others won't. rooting is possible either way.
Thanks, so downgrading the bootloader is not possible once it's been updated even with root? I see on sammobile that there are several 935U firmware versions for sprint that are 7.0 but have binary 4, are these viable options? I do have a gear S3 so i would like to not lose samsung pay/S-Health, that still happens when rooted right?

Correct, once you update to any G935P firmware QJ3 or above you will be stuck unable to install any other firmware and unable to downgrade whatsoever, even with root...Trust me i'm stuck in this particular issue atm as I obtained this parts phone with the sprint motherboard that had QJ3 firmware with the bootloader 5 on it and now am unable to use it on my verizon account leaving me with having to obtain another motherboard. the 935U firmwares are completely viable options, they are just debloated and come without carrier modifications, If you need any assistance with anyting further i'd be glad to help, i don't proclaim to be a pro, but after months of research and trails on the G935P I've learned quite a bit on the do's and don'ts lol.
You are awesome, thank you! Are the roms posted in the general s7 edge section working for the sprint variant? The specific forum for the G935P is very dead. Im just weighing pros and cons of rooting, if there are good roms that improve performance and battery life available and magisk is working I think it'd be worth it to root for me

I would look more into the roms listed under verizon and at&t variants of the S7E, they are more active and most roms are made with multi-carrier support...they will say in the installation guides, but the ones listed in the general forums are mainly for the international versions if i'm not mistaken.
Also, check the forums for the S7 Flat version as they seem to be more active and most of the guides/roms apply to both variants, also confirm that in their respective guides.
I just checked for updates on my SMG930P today and it looks as if Sprint is now binary 6!? Hopefully this is a hint that the rest are moving to binary 5 for Oreo. I'm going to wait on this update just in case. G930PVPU6BRD2 is the latest update that just popped up for me.
I just wanted to verify if I flash G935UUEU4BRD1 Firmware I will still be on binary 4 which will allow me to switch carries and achieve root? Is sammobile the only reputable resource for these firmwares? Seems like they charge a bit much. Thanks guys

Want to try different roms

Hi, im a bit of a newbie in this but have done this successfully some times on older phones. Now im asking all the Pro's here. Whats the best for my Samsung S10 to play with.
I mean what kind of rom should you recommend and why? Im looking for something that gets the felling of a new phone. I saw the Lineage Os on youtube and got impressed how clean the system was. I have not tried it. But i cant find any good guides anywhere. How is the process when changing to lets say Lineage?
For the ones who has tried alot whick ones should i look for? Is it the same system using odin?
Helpful for every idea.

If you're in the U.S. or Canada, you're out of luck as only the exynos variants and the Sprint 5G models can be rooted to boot custom ROMs. If you want root, you will have to get an international version of the phone like the Hong Kong variant.
Changing ROMs (if the phone allows it) isn't hard. There's tons of TWRP tutorials out there. The Odin stuff is the same only you have to use a patched version of it that's floating around the forums here.
