I have charged my Nexus One yesterday for the first time. I live in holland so i had to use my USB cable, and the power adapter that came with my HTC hero to plug my USB cable in.
After the phone was charged 100%, i disconnected it from the charger and only downloaded + added a widget to my home screen. After i did that the battery was already down tot 97% :O:O
Is it defective ?
i noticed having to complete a few charge cycles.. charge fully, use it till dead, charge again
now it seems to hold out much longer
Hmm ok i'll try that. But did yours also drain this fast?
what setting is your screen on? seriously though, im sure some other battery experts here would know, but i think they take a few cycles to get to maximum efficiency

What do you mean with screen setting, and what should i put it on?
Sorry totally new to the phone hehe
I've noticed this too. However as soon as the battery reaches around 50% it takes a lot more to drain so it evens out in the end I guess

Hmm ok so it also went that fast on your phone? i have been using it for about an hour now and its down to about ~90% =\, concerns me a bit.
Found out something else, concering the usage of the screen. When i look here:
Menu -> Settings -> About Phone -> Battery Use
The phone tells what uses the battery the most or something, but the strange thing is that it says:
Display 55%
Isn't that very high? Maybe that is causing my battery to drain so fast
Battery meters are not an exact science. Its using what it knows about the battery's state to guess of how much % is remaining. The battery meter will need to be calibrated once, and then overall battery should improve with your next normal 3-6 full charges.
Again, you do not need to and you shouldn't repeatedly drain the battery to 0, only once is this needed to set the phones battery meter, unless you clear it (possible within amon ra's bootloader).
As for your observation, yes that is completely normal, there is not a whole lot of definition within 3% of battery as far as displaying it. What the real picture? Enter in #*#*4363*#*# on your dial pad and then go to battery information, and you'll see the accurate voltage. (this is also accessible from "spare parts" if you have it)

All %'s here are vs the amount of time on battery (shown at the top in h:m). If you just unplugged your phone and you go looking here, you'll see the display % VERY HIGH... because the screen has been on the entire time its been unplugged
Its a % after all of the usage since last unplugged.
i've noticed my battery life is much better since i got the desktop dock.. lots of people charge until the light turns green then immediately grab it and start using..
leave it for another hour or two and it seems to get much better.
dont know if anyone else has noticed this but the top corner indicator light turns green once the battery goes somewhere over 90%, leaving it charge longer will get you to 100

You probably found this by now, but one flick to the left and you should have a widget for WiFi, GPS, etc. The far right one toggles 3 levels of screen brightness. The brightest two settings really suck down battery.
just a tip, when you are draining it to recalibrate the battery, after you get to the point that the phone shuts off, boot into the bootloader and run that thing till it completely dies... i did this for my phone, sat it in bootloader with a bright ass screen for like 15 min before it finally finished off... get every last ounce of juice out of it before you start charging it back up
Hmm thanks for al the reactions guys. I'm going to recalibrate my battery now, and lets see if that helps a bit .
Then i have a other question, its not about my battery but since i already have a open topic i dont want to create another one .
Can anyone of you test the following:
When you are calling with someone, and your calling volume is on the maximum (so the volume of the speaker that you hold against your ear). Can anyone notice a little crack from the speaker when the other person talks a bit loud or make's a loud noise? I'm wondering if there is something wrong with mine. With several tones the ear speaker cracks a little bit, like the sound is to loud or something?

Yep sounds about the same on my phone, dont worry about it lol
The draining thing is from the old nickel days, the lithium batteries are made for daily use so just treat the phone as you would normally. The battery will get better as time goes by.
Also I am not having that problem with the speaker
Hmm, I have my device since last week (Netherlands) and the battery usage is frightening. Sucking it dry in about 24 hours. I haven't let it die out completely though: I thought lithium batteries were not supposed to be used that way. Ni-Cad batteries were used that way.
Ah, see here:
Guidelines for prolonging lithium-ion battery life
Lithium-ion batteries should never be depleted below their minimum voltage (2.4 to 2.8 V/cell, depending on chemistry). If a lithium-ion battery is stored with too low a charge, there is a risk that the charge will drop below the low-voltage threshold, resulting in an unrecoverable dead battery.[citation needed] Usually this does not instantly damage the battery itself but a charger or device which uses that battery will refuse to charge a dead battery. The battery appears to be dead or not existent because the protection circuit disables further discharging and there is zero voltage on the battery terminals.
Lithium-ion batteries should be kept cool. Ideally they are stored in a refrigerator.[citation needed]
Aging will take its toll much faster at high temperatures.[citation needed]
[edit] Prolonging life in multiple cells through cell balancing
Analog front ends that balance cells and eliminate mismatches of cells in series or parallel significantly improve battery efficiency and increase the overall pack capacity. As the number of cells and load currents increase, the potential for mismatch also increases. There are two kinds of mismatch in the pack: state-of-charge (SOC) and capacity/energy (C/E) mismatch. Though the SOC mismatch is more common, each problem limits the pack capacity (mA·h) to the capacity of the weakest cell.

So, if you want to brick your battery, by all means, suck out all the power.
i have a mytouch but i think the things i do can be used with all androids....first recalibrating is a good way to get a fresh battery...then the brightness also helps along with any wireless things u dont use like wifi gps etc.. they should be turned off an brightness should be low...i have downloaded a app lately called automatic task killer..i think this is better than any other task manager because other task managers dont kill apps wen phone is on standby ..apps r still running wen screen is off an automatic task killer kills them..i think u should download this and also have a task manager to kill apps wen u use the phone..another thing is charging the phone wen its completely off..wait until the the light turns green then leave it on for another hour or two then turn it back on....i have seen an increase in bettery life by doing all this...any one esle have any tips ..let me kno
Hello,
I can't believe this has not been mentioned already - but I've done a search and I can't see anything regarding this subject.
I'm just curious as to the battery chart in regards the Display. It is always really high. As a test - I charged my phone to 100% and then over night left my phone alone, with the screen off to see what the stats were. When i awoke the battery chart had the display eating up 54% (even though the screen had been off all night).
Is that normal? Can the Battery useage chart be trusted?
I'm running a rooted device - with XE2.
Am I missing something here
My chart has been 100 precise for me. Post a screen shot if you can.
Also make sure you are not running NoLED.
Yep, ill sort a screen shot out.
And what is NoLED?

So you are NOT running it
It is a utility that uses your screen to display notifications, because there is no LED indicator on the phone that flashes for missed calls, voicemails, messages, etc.
NoLED displayes those little dots on the black screen itself.
Theoretically it makes the screen to be always on, and wastes extra power. But again there is a huge market for that great app (developed by an XDA member here).
Ok - here is a screen shot. Anyone else getting results like this even when the screen is off??
I got the same battery issue like you when i was on KE1.

i have the same problem, my sgs2 is so bad whit the battery life, i cant use the phone a normally working day from 07:00 until 17:00.. and allways i see the screen in the battery chart all the time whit more then 50% battery usage.
if this problem still exist, i will sold my device, thats not for a daily use..
Same answer as always .
Your display has been the part of the phone that has used most of the power used .
NOT your display is using 70% of the battery .

but did you read the first post from the theard owner? over the night, the display stay the whole night off, and use more then 50% battery.. thats not normal sorry.. a device which runs between 4 and 6 houers its a device for fun and play, but not more..
when im driving to the work i need 1 hour and 20min.. in this time, the screen is maybe 10min on while im listening music, and in this 1 hour and 20min my battery drain is 22%..
unbelivable...
from 07:00h in the morning until 12:00h 5 hours later, my battery is on 50%. i had htc desire hd before, and this device had a 1300mah battery and it was better than samsung whit 1600mah..
im really dissapointed..
The display = the majority use of the battery fact .
OP thinks display showed using 54% of the battery overnight .
It showed as a percentage of the total power consumed that the display consumed 54% so if the battery dropped 10% of its capacity overnight then 54% of that was from turning the screen on .
I repeat the battery usage shows what has been using the battery as a percentage of the amount used it does not show the battery drain ,Or even amount of battery used in that time frame
||||||||||Drained 50% of battery today display 20% .
Drained 30 of battery yesterday display 70% ..
WHY HOW AND other stuff regarding battery usage on SGS 1 forum .
jje
after the night was the battery down 54%, e.g. have you lost %46 battery over night? Or was battery down to lets say 90% but display accounted 54% of that 10% loss???
Battery 100% to 99% that is 1% used thats clean with no battery stats .
Battery stats usage shows Display 74% .
Or the display has used 74% of the 1% used .
Its a really simple reading of the usage of the battery by the varying components its not a measure of the battery .

thats what alot of people dont understand it seems........
i think we didnt understand us..
i try it again.
we start whit 100% full battery.. you dont touch your phone over the night.. and when you stand up, you look on it and see, the battery(only a example) is on 50%.. from this 50% which battery loose, 50% goes to the display.. so, the real drain from the display is 25%, over night, and you didnt switch it on.. you think that's not too much?

yes its a problem. when i do that same test on another phone, display does not appear in the list. if i charge to full at night, unplug and go to bed. when i wake up 8 hours later, the top of my list says Cell Standby, WiFi, Android OS. Display does not appear.
once i use the phone for a few minutes, display jumps to the top very quickly.

i want to share this whit you, at the moment it looks like my problem is gone.. i will take a look on it today, but right now i look on it, and after 6h over night whitout ac and any use, the display is not listed and my battery drain is in 6h 8%.
what i did:
- boot in recovery mode
- wipe data
- wipe cache
- power off
- boot in download mode
- download follow rom:
http://galaxy.androidgamer.org/Firmware/GT-I9100_XWKE7_XXKE4_OXXKE2.zip
(rom is splited in three files, pda modem and csc, csc is oxxke2 is newer than
the original one in the xwke7)
- in odin choose repartition, auto reboot and force time, i allways flash whit the
pit file, so download it to if you want
---> finish.. other steps like root is not neccesssary to describe here.
---> i will report again today in the evening.
for me its better right now.. i found the drain is to quickly again, but really much better.. something around 22h, but whitout a lot of use.. this time on the first place is the android os in the battery chart.. display is showed on the place 3..
Hello guys
I have my galaxy s4 i9505 android 4.4.2 . Is that normal, that my phones battery discharges in 2 h 30 min average (from 100%), when i play heavy games like asphalt 8 from fully charged battery till its discharge with wifi on and on 50 % brightness? Also when im surf the net, stay on fb and do stuff like that, my phones battery discharges in 4 hours. I say thats not normal. And by the now my phones battery discharges 1% in 2-1min
So its that a foulty battery problem, charging port problem or else? Dont tell me reset my phone cus, i done that 10 times already and it didint help
Im pretty sure its not Running apps problem either, cus my phone dont heat.

Let's be organized:
1. Faulty charging port: can be, if you phone charges too long. nothing related with discharge speed
2. Faulty battery: check battery SN, if it starts with BD letters, can be. In this case, the battery would be visually swollen, and your phone shall randomly reset with charge from 80 to 30%, and shall not be able to start without the charger connected.
3. Discharge of 60% per hour is possible, depends from the apps running in background. Install Battery Monitor Widget or something similar to investigate closer.

Thanks for reply I forgot to mention that my charging port is weird, sometimes charges phone, sometimes not. Recently my phone charges only when its turned of completely, when phone is on with charger connected its discharges. Also i can say that thats not a charger problem, because my brothers S3 charges very well with it. I'm i have ordered the new charging cable/part for my phone, and hopping to fix charging issues.
Another problem is that my phone in powering On process goes to Download mode without key combination and dont boot up (sometimes), also in the same way rondomly when i press power on button it goes to recovery mode (without key combination). Is that problem may be realated to this one i stated before (about charging).
It's perfectly normal. There is nothing wrong with your phone.

Really? 2.5h is good on gaiming and wi-fi with 50% brightness? When browsing the net, my phone discharges in rate like 1%/3mins... (average)
it depends entirely on usage. 2.5 hours screen time while gaming is pretty good I think. on stock rom i can manage anything between 1.5 and 4 hours screen time, but it also depends on usage during screen time. if you're running something that's quite hard work on the cpu/gpu and with the srceen constantly on....like gaming.....then obviously that will drain your battery faster than just browsing the web or texting etc.
generally speaking s4 will last through a days normal use quite easily.....but then it depends on how you define normal days use.

Thanks for reply So its nothing to worry about? I had S3 and it lasted much longer than my current S4. Of course i need to look at its 5'' display and 1080p resolution If you guys getting same battery life while heavily using your phones, it means it's ok and i don't have consider of changing battery ?
yeah i think from the sounds of your usage, that's about right for a stock rom.
if you are still only getting about 2-4 hours total use (i.e. battery dead from 100% down to 0%) from your normal daily use while you're at work/school or whatever (i.e. where it's sat idle for most of the day), then you've probably got something wrong. but given that you said you were playing games etc contantly and still got 2.5 hours screen time, that's ok i think.
you can always try and squeeze some more out using custom kernels etc, but if you are not certain it's some other fault i#d try and see what battery life you get on idle first so that you don't lose warranty by flashing a custom system. so yeah try for a day or two leaving it with just normal usage or idle whenever possible to compare

THAT is NOT normal... and yes, it may be somehow related... if your phone shows that often, and if it is under warranty, I'd consider going to service center
ooops, yeah i totally missed the post about your download mode issue and faulty charging port. if you're in warranty, take it back.
Hi everyone, i have problem with my note 4, battery drops from 11 % to 3% very fast and charges after 85% very slow.. this problems started 2 days ago when i flashed dn5 custom rom i thought it was rom problem and flashed sixperience rom but still i have same issue also i tried battery calibration but again.... what can i do???? and my screen on time is only 3 hour. please help me, thanks.
Have you checked what's eating away at your battery? Settings => Battery (Here you should be able to see if anything is causing a drain).
If the settings screen doesn't seem to show anything, you could try BetterBatteryStats (This app will be able to tell you everything that's going on regarding running processes, wakelocks,... You should give it a day or so from a fully charged battery.)
And if even BBS doesn't show anything, I'd flash the stock firmware again (And check if it isn't the battery).

Well, in all fairness, mine is running CM 12.1, and SOT is a bit under 4hrs. Which isn't fantastic either. Quickcharge does slow down a bit after a certain percentage. You could try a new battery, but might be a waste of money.
I'm afraid I can't help you any further, maybe someone else can.

I am facing exactly the same problem .. I don't think buying a new battery will solve this problem.
My mobile is charging by AC very very slow and sometimes it stuck at certain percentage for hours and I tried many things but I am still facing this problem... While recharging if I removed the battery and put it again, the phone shows me that it is 100% while it was not 100% at all.
I wish someone can help us about this problem or if any of u guys tried a new battery and the problem has been solved, so please feed us back in here

well after 3 4 days (i mean after flashing sixperience rom) everything is ok. discharge to 0% then wait and full charge + calibrate battery may fix issue. but still dont like screen on time. only up to 3.5 4 hours
That sounds weard...
I mean the good thing is we could change the battery.
I have a feeling this is not battery issue. it's exynos + apps running on the background. Try to root + disable unnecessary apps (maybe Android 4.4 Would give you higher SOT). I had Note 3 previously and SOT was at the level of around 6 hrs (snap processor) - now on exynos it's around 4 hrs on stock firmware (5.1.1).
I have seen better battery stats than mine. I don't know If something's wrong with my device (I have warranty tho so if it is, I can replace it)
I noticed that wifi is at the top of the list so I'm not sure what's going on.
I have greenify set for facebook because It destroys any battery. Also I disabled my location in case it was google now.
Accubattery shows 55% consumption while screen on (3h 29 SOT) while 38% of the battery gone while the screen is off (80% of that time is in deep sleep)
In the android's battery stats, wifi appears above screen in battery consumption.
Overall it's 16h 45 min of total battery life at 5% battery left.
I have seen 5h, 7h SOT so I don't exactly know what to expect.
I really need a hand because I can't let this pass if it's really a battery issue.
Thanks in advance.
Maybe you want to post a BBS log in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-extreme-battery-life-t3095884 to get proper help.

Nobody knows which device, bootloader status, dual sim, WiFi, apps, settings, rom etc. you are using. So please be so kind and provide these informations.
Also a full cycle of better battery stats is useful with all screens provided.
And as bullfinch110 said: there are threads(older) with battery tips
I'm sorry. I couldn't find a way to upload screens without external links and xda wouldn't let me.
Its xt1641, dual sim but i've only charged it with one.
Stock 6.0.1 Rom
Locked bootloader
Wifi is always on in that cycle. I've disabled today "enable wifi on deepsleep" to see what's up
I've also restored network settings.
