System lagging on wake up - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Anyone else having issues with the system lagging or bogging down on wake up? When I get it unlocked it runs great, but is kind of annoying when I go to unlock and it takes a few seconds.

I think someone mentioned this in another thread. It might have to do with your SD Card, or it can be a theme if you have that applied

Well I went back to default theme and that seems to have fixed it...that sucks though, I liked my theme.

Was there any live wallpapers associated with your theme? try changing your lock screen wallpaper when you're using the theme see if that fixes it

Not to sure then I tried haha.
The phone is still new, so I'm guessing a lot of previous apps/themes still need to optimized for it. Give it a couple weeks; hopefully Sammy will release an update.

Hopefully. Thanks for your help.

Do you use an SD-Card?
If yes, remove it, restart your phone and see, if the lag still occurs

Now that I have root access, what can I do to make this phone faster?

As we all know on paper this phone is a beast but in real life not so much. Now that I had this phone for a week I can definitely say that my Galaxy S3 running AOKP 4.3 ROM was faster than this phone (no joke).
I mean the only thing that really bothers me a lot with this phone (and I don’t know if its touchwiz related) is lock screen lag. Sometimes when I’m locking or unlocking the phone it takes a good second or two to “wake up” or “go to sleep”
Do any of you guys notice the same problem? If so is the any way to fix this now that we have root access?
I’m also looking for any other tips and tricks to make this phone a little faster
Thanks in advance

I forgot to mention, I’m already using Nova launcher and I already disabled all the apps from this tread:

My window animation is set to 0.5 but I guess I will try no animation and see if that helps

My battery last all day and more with it running not a huge application anyways and certainly does not eat up battery

Zero animations will help a little but it won't work miracles. You are used to an aosp-style rom, and Touchwiz simply is not that. Once we get Safestrap, devs will get debloated TW roms for this beast. Until then, you just have to deal with TW lag & bloat

Try to freeze/remove the "S Voice" application that maps itself to ---> double tap Home key.
By removing it, it removes the double tap mapping which greatly helped with home button wake lag on my Note 2
Next most common thing to help you is to use an app such as Android Tuner to edit the stock kernel CPU clocks. In deep sleep(=screen off), you can raise the mhz of the CPU so it takes less time to wake up. Not sure if you can do this on stock kernel/locked bootloader just yet and this will eat more battery in general if your phone is in deep sleep often

Have you tried clearing the cache?
But i don't think this is a problem. I think it's a new 4.4.2 feature that cannot be disabled. Maybe I didn't describe my problem right. When someone calls me and I don't pick up you can see the missed call in a big notification rectangle in the lock screen. This means that someone can just take your phone and see who called you even if you don't want to. I try to find any setting to disable this but it looks like it's a widget in the lock screen.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
If you can't disable it in the settings and the developer didn't include an option for that there is no way to hide it.

I think what you have on your lockscreen is a lockcreen widget. Have you tried disabling Lockscreen widgets?
Maybe if it is a standalone widget it can be removed from the screen. Try and report back.

Hmm...I tried it and ended up with the same result as CM11. I set the wallpaper and it locks my entire tablet up. Are you using a 3rd party launcher by chance? Maybe it is an issue with Nova..

Edit: got it to work, but figured out its the blur setting that FCs it for me. I can turn it almost all the wah down and it works, but pictures from reddit are still blurry due to the high resolution of the tablet.

New TouchWiz UI for Marshmallow users, removes Sprint branding (no root)

Some of you may have seen this:
http://www.xda-developers.com/samsu...iz-is-a-ui-giant-leap-forward-two-steps-back/
Turns out it appears to work for the Note 4 Marshmellow users as well. I've been using it for only a little bit, one change I noticed is that it removes the Sprint branding in the upper left without requiring root. I searched for the app in Galaxy Apps, it wasn't available there, but you can download the apk attached to this post
The recent apps feature is pretty terrible, but it's something different you guys can try.
EDIT: I tried this with the fingerprint scanner, it made me not able to get past the lock screen, all I saw was a blank wallpaper. I guess it works on the Note 4 but not optimized for it. I was able to finally get past it by clicking on the notifications, messing with the settings on GoodLock, causing it to crash, and then my phone rebooted with it uninstalled.
This is interesting. I'm testing it out to see how it goes. Can you say anything about battery life compared to without it?

CAREFUL!! I just set up finger print scanner with this to see how it functions, now I can't get past the lock screen, all I see is my wallpaper, even in safe mode, I might have to do a hard reset :\
Edit: finally got past the fingerprint scanner after the app crashed and made my phone reboot, and then gave me the option to type in the password instead. It worked great prior to setting that portion up though, so mixed feelings about it so far.

negative. there's a lockscreen bypass you can flash in TWRP
it simply disables your lockscreen. I have seen it and for some time, had it, but no longer thanks to a goofed internalsd format ;(
if you find it, please post link!
It felt laggy to me, I've already taken it down. I love the notification bar though

not really imo, apart from letting you group notifications and setting alerts for them, and making the notification pull down menu look closer to stock android.
Edit: I take that back. When you take a screenshot now it comes up with 3 options, more/share/crop. If you hit more, it lets you take a scrolling screenshot without having to use the s-pen.

Alright, well, I jumped back on board to see if I could make this work for me. What I did was install the APK as usual and then used TB to delete the system UI (launcher). Since I use NOVA anyway, I also deleted TouchWiz and TouchWiz Easy crap... This setup has me running faster and with better battery life than ever before! Can't wait for a kernel for this MM situation!

That's crazy that you deleted TouchWiz, didn't even know that was possible lol, hopefully you don't run into any issues, because I had it crash once which caused it to just uninstall itself from my phone.
Good Lock updated with some gesture controls (Which I have yet to test) and bug fixes.

This actually seems pretty nice, I appreciate the chance from the same old Samsung noti dropdown.
I am missing the wifi calling on quick settings already, however.

Shouldn't freeze, but it will be super slow to pull down. That is a marshmallow bug that Nova's developer had submitted to Google. If it's actually freezing that's different and might be anice issue with something specific to your setup.

I'm not sure why it's happening either. Maybe I should just reset my nova launcher. The only times its worked is when I've been able to root my past phones with a similar setup on my Moto x pure, and nexus 6p.
