After failing miserably at trying to partition my 16GB SD Card and using Apps2SD - I upgraded to Froyo which as we know is the only ROM that allows us to move apps to the SD Card. My question is which type of APPS can I actually move, because after going through all of the installed apps on my EVO, the only one which allowed me to move it was ACT 1 video player.

These are the apps that I consider a MUST have for my usage:
1.)Mvideo player - infinitely better than the stock video player and can display subtitles also comes with great folder management
2.) SMS backup and restore - to back up and restore my SMS inbox when I flash to a new ROM
3.)Opera Mobile - Something thats pretty much close to the functionality of a Safari browser, puts the stock andriod browser to shame!
Other apps already mentioned like G+, flashlight app, youtube app and ect!
Titanium Backup is a must... especially for the n00bz who are always begging for non-wipe versions of roms.
Other than that:
Astro File Manager
PowerAmp
RealVNC
Screen Off and Lock (I don't like to use the physical power button)
Tasker
WiFi File Manager
Screen Filter
QuickPic
MoboPlayer
The rest is not that important, but these are mandatory for me.
This belongs in the Themes & Apps section.
Hi all,
I'm looking forward to get my Tab 7.7 16Gt 3G/Wi-Fi and I like to get some app recommendations, free or non-free.
It will be mostly used while travelling so apps should work without Internet connection and in flight mode.
So far my list has:
- Kindle for Android
- Astro File Manager
- Sygic GPS or NAVIGON for Android
I want to:
- View photos
- Watch movies
- View PDF documents
- View/edit Word 2010 documents
- Play some games
As noted they have to be usable in flight mode.
Other must have apps ?
TIA

Some MUST HAVE apps for the Samsung 7.7:
The stock Gallery is good enough to view photos. File Expert is also an option.
VPlayer, MX Player, Dice Player can play almost any media files you throw at it including mkv files.
Polaris Office is an inbuild app to view or edit Word documents. You can get 3rd party apps like Quick Office Pro and Office Suite too.
For PDF: EzPDF, Repligo
Games: Angry bird is everyone's favorite, esp angry bird space. Pool 3D pro, Shadowgun, card games like solitaire.
Must have apps if your Phone is rooted:
Titanium Backup pro
Root Explorer
Superuser
Busybox
Ditch the Stock touchwiz launcher and install ADW launcher EX
^ agreed. Touchwiz sux.
You may also want to invest in a quality SD card (if you haven't already). Depending on video quality(Mbps)...expect about 300 min worth of movie storage or 500 min of music @ 13mbps. You can store more than this but you will degrade quality with lower transfer rates.
If you do decide to root your device, you can also save on precious battery life by adding a battery managment app like JuiceDefender.
I would recommend you to perform the following first before everything else:
1. Get root
2. Install GO Launcher HD (Beta) and make it as default
Some would recommend ADW Launcher EX, but I found GO Launcher HD (Not the EX one) more responsive with less memory footprint. You may compare before decide.
Hi I'm using 8227l device as from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...-firmware-chinese-7-head-unit-ac8227-t3931863
Recently Google maps app become to be too heavy for my device despite it has 2G ROM and I decided to try maps go app. Initially I was not able to run navigation because in horizontal view devices navigation button is hidden under the screen. I managed to fix this problem by using multi window mode - on half screen an app display all elements with navigate button.
So I have tested maps go app and it is enough as for my needs, unfortunately I encountered another problem - during playing announcements app kills all other music players . I researched an internet and found some solution with "apps mutex" options unfortunately it does not work for maps go, navigation in maps go applications. I have tried various players -stock, folder player, aimp - all of them are just killed when maps go play an announcement. I also tried to set different audio output in aimp but no luck - behavior of maps go is all the time the same.
In comparison to ordinary Google maps Maps go behaves differently - Google maps allow to mix audio from numerous apps while maps go just stop all other playing apps.
I am writing here because I have given up...
Any advice how to force maps go to collaborate with other apps?
Regards.
Hi
I have, until now been using Agama launcher together with both Alexa, Amazon Music and Rocket Player (latter for local music). I've been trying to get Car Launcher Pro working with same.
With Alexa and Amazon Music apps, Car Launcher Pro's music control buttons and album cover display works just fine, but Rocket Player refuses to work with it (buttons do nothing, ditto album covers etc).
Wondered if there was a fix or if someone could suggest a player for local music that does work (not a file based player, rather one that will index the collection and list by album, artist etc).
HU is a Vanku PX6 Android 10 double-din running Hal9K's new V5.x
Thanks, Karen
I use Poweramp, paid version, on my Android. Strictly a database music player.
My data base is organized as artist/album/song track. Poweramp can be set up to recognize this.
It's setup is complex but it's extremely configurable. Allows for complete settings and playlist backup. As long as the data base is intact it can fully reconstruct playlists from the backup in under a minute or two for 6000+ songs. Supports unlimited playlists.
High res throughput. An outstanding graphic equalizer with the ability to save multiple EQ setups for albums or individual songs.
Rock solid stable. Zero issues.
Thanks, tried poweramp and it works, but its going to be hard moving from Rocket Player. Poweramp is damned ugly in comparison! I'll try and find some pleasing skins for it!

I haven't play with it's skins much. The current skin works.
Hi. To follow up on this, I contacted folks at my preferred audio player, Rocket Player and they came up with the missing config change within minutes. Now working grand, and ditched poweramp again.
Head to Rocket Player Settings -> System Resources -> Keep Notification and turn that ON.
Head to Rocket Player Settings -> Operation - > Third Party Controls and turn that ON.
Head to Rocket Player Settings -> Headset/Bluetooth -> Obey Headset Controls and turn that ON.
Head to Rocket Player Settings -> Headset/Bluetooth -> Support Volume Controls and turn that OFF.
It was the 3rd one that was missing.
Good to hear but I'm not feeling it. Poweramp is a keeper. I use it completingly offline.
