Hello,
I'm new here at the forum but may I ask why the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/thinkpad-tablet/general/how-to-one-guide-yoga-tablet-2-t3174597 is closed? Many of the headlines of the different topics in it are looking very interesting (at least for me as a Yoga Tab 2 user). Was there something wrong with this thread?
Thank you.

Hi everyone
I think we need an android q&a forum to keep this dev forum clean of spam and repetitive questions that are filling this place.
Does any body have an opinion on this?

I believe it does not help too much since too many people can't seem to read/search the forums anyway. And they will keep on asking the same questions anyway, regardless where they are posed. I believe the non-developers should answer the simple questions so the devs can concentrate on their work.
I agree but if a new dev came along and saw the state of this forum i think they would be a put off joining in.
This is why the devs use skype and irc because this place is a mess

if you're talking about a real forum, with different web address, it's a lot of work.
or maybe you are talking about creating a FAQ page:
if you create it here on the forum, only you will be able to edit it.
but instead, maybe you could create a WIKI page on the photon webpage, and refers to it everytime a n00b ask a question ?

i don't know if you have rights to create wiki page, if you don't, ask me or codiak/tzacapaca/schlund via pm

Thanks for your input, I think a faq thread probably the best way to go, I'll put something together and post it tonight.
I think we need a personal moderator to keep threads clear of spamming.....
+1 for Q&A section,i would like to see this forum the same as HD2 one, with different sections for different OS & stuff, maybe then people won't make mess in dev section
I've sent mod a pm to request a sub-forum if he says no I will post a faq thread here, if he says yes i will post it in q&a

No problem mate, it was needed anyway
I'm seeing two general sections on main index page but they both link to 'HD MINI General' ????
Just looking at this.

We did this...

I don't know why every forum section cannot contain at least 1 thread like that.
Surely you can see that this will get closed too???
lol

Erm, you just did post here.
XDA has a forum for "Off Topic" posts already
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=261
If everyone simply used the forums as they were intended, there would be no problems. Creating an "Off Topic" thread in device specific fora is essentially allowing behavior we are trying to stop. Post about the Samsung Galaxy S II in the the Samsung Galaxy S II forums. Dead simple. Report anything that is off topic and don't respond to it and we can delete 1 post as opposed to 2 pages of derailed thread.
Unless I hear something different from the Site Administration or a Senior Moderator, this will be the last time I address this.

1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.

3. Post only using a clear subject and message.
You're most likely to receive a helpful answer to your question if you use a short subject title that describes your problem and a message that explains in detail what your problem is and what you've tried to solve it.

5. Post a message only once.
As a large forum we don't need unnecessary clutter, You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time, it might take a while before you receive an answer.

General - Question & Answer section is not a place where everyone can open a new thread with the own question. It is needed to search before, read the sticky threads, read the wikis, read and read once again, and post in an existing thread, if necessary. Repetitive topics will be deleted/closed without previous notice. Topics like 'urgent help' or 'do I brick my phone?' and so will be deleted/closed. Infractions issued to reiterative members. Remember XDA-Developers.com is about development. That includes Q&A section! Thanks for your cooperation. Best regards,
what's this
is this mean that I hava to edit this before I can start a thread?
I know and thanks very much!
thank you
Ynt: Attention !!! Please read before start a new thread

Hey guys. I thought that we could have a general thread here where we talk about everything between heaven and earth (without breaking the rules of course), make introductions, bash certain companies, etc. A thread of this type made a huge success over at the GS3 section so I thought we could have one here. This could also be seen as an attempt to de-clutter the General section. If you don't agree, then this thread can be locked and forgotten.
Remember to be civil; we're all part of the same community! :highfive:

I have a galaxy s4, and I've recently joined this forum to help solve an issue I've got. I noticed a lot of people mentioning knox, but I have no idea what that is! Sorry to sound dumb, but can someone explain what it is to me please?
Thread stickied 2nd from the top of Q&A.

Ok um thanks
Wouldn't it be better to Google this instead of posting another pointless thread?
Exactly why I referred to the stickied thread (the whole point of it/being stickied was to avoid threads like this).
