I've just talked to the Honor-Support Germany.
I've mentioned some things and the friendly staff-member gave me this information:
Known Problems they're working on currently:
Battery-Drain issue
Music-Player Control Support on Lockscreen for more players
I have also mentioned that the impossibility of extracting the system .apk's prevents improvements of some apps by the community, maybe they'll give us the chance to improve the Huawei apps by ourselves...
Things I've mentioned, which are not in work today ( 12th May 2016) but which will be forwarded to the corresponding department:
Port of Cyanogenmod to Honor 7 (they also wanted to know my E-Mail address to contact me if they'll begin to port)
I will continue the list so that we can have a summary about what Huawei/Honor is working on at the moment.
I you also had contact with the Honor support, post it here and I will add things to the list!
btw: I know they can tell you everthing and maybe they are not even working on that points, but come on guys! Because they have already helped the CM-team to port Cm to the Honor 4 they will maybe do it for the H7 as well
Sebster
I'd also spoken with honor Sweden regarding awake problem together with Google now.
These is their answer
We have escalated this on to our developers now we'll see if it found something at this there.

Thanks for info. I am waiting for new update. I tried B300b rom but I did not like it so much. I hope new rom will be more stable.
And they still not released the MM OTA in Eastern Europe...
Heads up to those interested.. I think the kickstarter campaign is going to start soon. Looks like it could be pretty decent if the hype is anything to go by.
Hopefully they'll involve communities like this one in their development, it'd certainly help brand awareness!
Edit : In fact they have a pre-launch fb group here - https://m.facebook.com/groups/577584915748399
Edit 2 : Any devs interested in the watch should join, they genuinely seem interested in community participation, so any feedback from you guys would be good.

Congrats guys, hope it's a step above the rest. It is refreshing to see companies interact with the paying public like that, I know pebble did really well with their campaign, but I'm not sure how open they were to suggestion from the community.
Unfortunately (fortunately) I procured a fenix 3 for my birthday recently and it suits me down to the ground, otherwise I'd have definitely grabbed one of these.
Looking forward to the Onyx to add to my collection: seems to offer a lot of possibilities and upgrades for the smart watch communities...wondering if I'm developing a watch addiction...12 steps here I come................

I've received mine - it's easy enough to get Android APKs and Wear APKs on to it, but it lacks a browser and account manager so many apps will crash out. However, many also work perfectly fine, particularly once you modify the DPI.
It's a lovely watch - the best I've owned, although the Gear S running Android is also very functional in a different (ie fully Android) way.
Rooting is problematic for now - most of the usual apps aren't successful at rooting. Has anyone found a successful process?
No problems with the CPU and it charges quickly wirelessly. All in, a lovely watch.
Question - other than the custom OS features, is it worth more than the £99 Gearbest watches? I'm not sure, but it's certainly stylish.
I'd buy it at £130, but I think that's the price point all good smartwatches should be at.

I get that FC too. Settings -> Battery -> Battery Use -> Screen, and it's over.
Side buttons are made of plastic and it's littly wobby - that's regular in middle ranged xiaomi phones anyway.
Anyway, good device. And I'm waiting for a RR Rom to flash.

no ROM yet besides china stable and developer. TWRP just appeared on the MIUI forums today though. sadly no touchscreen support as far as I can tell.
Try flashing one of the modified MIUI roms from one of the below:

Allow me to put the nail in the coffin here. Intel Atom chips have only received love from KonstaT - his work on Cube Iwork8 Ultimate/Air + Chuwi tablets sporting the Atom chips e.g. - he is the main reason anything gets done for the Mi Pad 2 (check the credits )
The Nvidia chip is found in ... Shield Tablet which is still being supported and in other devices - still receiving love.
Quick search on the MT8176 chip. Couldn't find anything. And I know for a fact that KonstaT doesn't mess with MediaTek chips.
Obviously, I hope the best for the Mi Pad 3 owners, but it doesn't look too good right now. Mind you, I did suggest that you try flashing the Xiaomi.eu and/or Multirom.me's Mi Pad 3 MIUI rom. They both optimize the rom, so give it a go and tell us which is better.
Lastly, Chris from TechTablets isn't impressed and suggests the Mi Pad 2 and Ifive Mini 4S over the Mi Pad 3.

Hi, although I'm not expecting much development (if any) for this tablet and I know it won't be a hit in sales, I find it most interesting. Those specs are just fine for my needs.
Plus, Xiaomi has proven a brand with very high quality products and which you can trust (I've had a couple of phones, the 12.5" laptop and some other stuff from them and I love them).
So I couldn't resist and I have just ordered one. As long as there is Miui and it gets a couple of update, it's fine for me.
Anyway if any developer is motivated for some cooked roms, I'm sure a few of us will appreciate!

MAC address changes after wakeup from Wifi standby
I just received my MiPad 3 this weekend - a nice first impression regarding appearance and haptics,
BUT, I recognized that every time the Wifi wakes up from standby again, the MiPad comes up with a different MAC address! Not after reboot (observed on different MediaTek devices, e.g. Cubot X9), but on any Wifi reconnect after standby it reconnects with strange MAC addresses beginning with 00:00:00:aa:bb:cc - while in the "about the Phone" still the original MAC address is stated.
It seemes that this behaviour had been an issue for the MiPad 2 as well:

VERY disappointing at all!

I tried to register as a user at xiaomi.eu and kept getting an error message that my attempt to register was rejected because it "resembled automated or spam-like behavior. Please contact the administrator for further information or assistance." I tried 8 or 9 times before giving up. At any rate, I did download TWRP for the Mi Pad 3 and installed it. I then flashed the custom "weekly" room from 5-26 and all is good. It sort of took care of the region issue as settings no longer shows China.
Would really like to contribute at that site, but if it's that difficult to register - forget it. But thanks for the link. ?
Hello people, I can't patch my device to February Patch.
I'm stuck to January one.
I've tried EVERYTHING (updating Google Play Services via APK or signing to beta tester on Google Play).
At the end, I've done a factory reset, too.
My device IS NOT Rooted, and bootloader is LOCKED.
Someone can help me, please?

Me too. Brand new Xiaomi, just bought today. After setup, it downloaded two updates, Dezember and January update.
Maybe we should wait a little longer.
Wait for march update?? Sigh.
My wife's device too, same issue.
You mean you don't see an OTA update option? If so just wait a few days, it gets rolled out in batches. You are just unlucky.

Ah.
So there are no updates for people that are on January, then?
Have you got some links where I can read about the stopped distribution, please?
Xiaomi has a weird habit of randomly cancelling released updates. Has done that before, will do that again. Chill out and just wait. And never buy anything based on Android One from them ever again - this company treats the MI A1 as an unwanted child. The February security update still has no official changelog 10 days after release.

I understand. Thanks for explaining me that.
Yep, I have 2 A1's, one for me and one for my wife, and neither has gotten the February update. I've asked Xiaomi about it through 2 FB groups, through the Feedback app and through email to their global support. I have not received an answer from any of those avenues: nada...crickets.
Honestly, I would rather a company pull the update than continue to distribute ones with major issues, but the total lack of communication is disheartening. I think the A1 is by far the best price/performance phone I've ever owned, and had high hopes of Xiaomi being my new 'goto' manufacturer. That is in jeopardy if they continue to step all over the whole idea of Android One and continue doing things without communicating why those things are needed. In the case of Android phones, no news is NOT good news! I will give them some slack, for a while, because the A1 is what, 6 months old? and it is their first Android One phone, so maybe it takes a bit for the need to 'do it right' to trickle down to the devs and working stiffs in the company. But that is only possible if it comes from upper management, and that is communicated by them. So far, all I've really seen in such communication is MIUI, which is a total no go for me. Get your stuff together Xiaomi. You've built a nice base of customers who might never have bought your products with the Mi A1. If you leave them high and dry, you will lose them just as quickly!
It's a nice phone indeed. But based on my experience, I wouldn't count on them communicating with users about software updates.

Considering a total lack of communications in regard to the MI A1, I am not buying anything from Xiaomi ever again.
For six months since its release:
We haven't had a single official announcement about the MI A1 development process
We haven't seen a single official changelog (MIUI forums is not the right place for changelogs - Xiaomi's own website is). Some updates have been published without any changelogs whatsoever, e.g. the last one
We haven't been notified even once about updates being revoked (and it has happened at least four times already)
We haven't seen a single comment in regard to its bugs. All feature requests have been rejected by the MIUI forums moderators.
The MI A1 is not fully Android 8 compatible: no camera2API, no Project Treble support
It has extremely horrible low light camera performance
Updates are randomly delayed
Clearly this company couldn't care less about the MI A1.

The page you linked provides an excellent summary of issues. Thanks for that. :good: I agree with you that perhaps the MIUI forums are not the best place for A1 bug tracking though, and it would be nice if Xiaomi actually paid attention to customers and provided a place for updates and feedback. Unfortunately, many users create their own issues, then scream loudly for the manufacturer to 'fix' an issue they created, or just plain complain incessantly about the lack of 'features' that were never part of the deal to begin with, and this may lead manufacturers to be less inclined to offer interactive tools.
While my A1's do not have a number of those issues, it does point to the fact that the A1 environment is varied, probably due to different software combinations from the many different locals it is sold in. Hopefully Xiaomi will get it's stuff together and provide some answers. Continuing to ignore customers is never a good solution. It also points out that if I want some features Xiaomi has neglected (EIS and Camera2 API), I am going to have to root the phone, which I was hoping to avoid.
So far, the update experience with the A1 has not been slooth, and I am a bit worried that the update to P may not happen at all, or be very painful if it does. While I won't go as far as to say I won't buy any more Xiaomi products, if another company comes along that offers excellent price/performance and does a decent job at communication and updates, it will certainly be on my radar.

I'm a bit fed up about Xiaomi. But I'm very satisfied about my device.
I've got Samsung S2, S4, S7 and now Mi A1.
And I can tell you: I'm good with my choice.
I can buy a Xiaomi Device EVERY YEAR with some money I've spent with Samsung. And I love Samsung. But I've been waiting for Oreo for several months.
Mi A1 lacks NFC, I hope my next phone will have it onboard.
During Google I/O 2018, Google officially released ARCore 1.2. With this version, they added compatibility with a wider (but still limited) range of devices. Most importantly, our Nexus 5X is listed as compatible ! You can check the full list of compatible devices here.
Caveat: the new version of ARCore is still being rolling out worldwide (i.e. might not show up on Google Play Store yet), but if you are impatient (like me ) you can download the latest APK from Google's GitHub repository (direct link to APK). APKMirror is listing the latest APK as well, but I haven't tested it.
Installation went smoothly, I also followed Google's instruction (link) to package the HelloAR app. And.... IT WORKS FLAWLESSLY! No lag, tracking is on point, it can detect surfaces located at different heights (i.e. separate the floor from a table), and it also has vertical planes' support!
Since I couldn't find the HelloAR APK that used the latest SDK, I compiled it myself in 5 mins. But if you are lazy, and don't want to follow the Getting Started guide, You can get the APK I got straight out of Unity from here, no changes made. However, I ASSUME NO RESPONSIBILITIES IN CASE YOU BRICK YOUR OWN DEVICE. Since I never posted an APK before, you might think I could infect this APK with malware, and I understand that. If you don't want to trust me, go ahead and compile the app yourself: it's free, and will take you less than 10 mins :good:
Tell me what you think guys of this awesome news :highfive:
You can now download it from store! No more crazy hacking, yay!
What does this do? And would it be worth it to put on the 5x

This would basically add advanced augmented reality support to your device. For example, you can use an app to accurately measure the distance between two point using your phobe, or try Ikea furniture and see how they would look like in your room. It's excitirng because we believed Google wouldn't have added support for an "old" device such us Nexus 5X
Sounds good I'll add it

Thanks, it's awesome!!!
But how to have something different than the Android robot, must we create the samples with sdk or is there already some available models. Because on the show dated 8 months ago, there were playing with lot of objects.

You can create you own apps using the SDK, or you can try other apps such us ARuler, Ikea Place or Just a Line (these are the apps I tested, and work with this version of ARcore on Nexus 5X running Android Oreo 8.1).
Does this mean AR stickers will work too?

I think they still need to be updated, since they are still upside down.. You can try and maybe get different results!
