Unlock Samsung Note 3 Vodafone UK - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I tried several things to unlock my phone, unfortunately, unsuccessfuly.
I use the Sim Unlock code provided by Vodafone : no chance
I rooted the phone and tried Region Lock Away or the Sim Unlock Samsung app, no chance either. I think that the phone is rooted properly but everytime an app request root access, it times out.
I am running out of (good) idea. Any pointer would be very helpful!
Thanks
David

Are you trying all of these thing while running a stock ROM?

I had the same problem with t-mobile in America. It was because I was using a custom rom. I backed up my phone, installed a "stock rooted rom" and was then unable to unlock the sim. Then I used my backup to restore my phone back to the custom rom. Good luck.

I used Odin 3.04 then I install CWM recovery on it.
I tried to unlock the phone before rooting it but it didn't work which is why I try to root it, nothing works... What is a stock rom ? I only want to sim unlock it really, i dont need / want it rooted specifically

What is a stock rom
Stock as in standard firmware as supplied by Samsung .

This all assumes you have a custom rom installed.
You can return your phone to stock (maybe) but it's kind of a pain.
It seems easier to flash a stock rooted rom, which is similar enough to stock to fix your problem.
Google "stock rooted rom vodafone note 3" or maybe just N9005XXUGBOA5_N9005VFGGBOA2 seems to be what you are looking for {actually that appears to be the stock file that you can flash with odin and mostly re-stock your phone.... not sure if it will accomplish what you need}.

Hi All
newbie to this phone and semi new to android. Mine is a i5801 which is locked to orange. I have rooted the device using z4root.
But is there a easy way to put custom roms on this phone ?
Also is there a free easy way to unlock the phone from orange ?
Thanks
to unlock the phone from orange
first download Odin and change ur firmware to anything other than orange(I5801BVJP9)
the instructions are here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=778880 (stock)
even if u use z4root the phone will not be rooted coz orange locks away access
the procedure is same as above to install new Roms
if u want custom roms then go for kyrillos jpf gingerbread v2.3 or lestatious v1.2
good luck!!
I have put a new firmware on there with 2.2 but its still locked
which one did u try
i once put orange from france on my phone &it got locked when i changed my firmware then it became unlocked
do u still have orange apps!!! if so then u did not change the firmware properly
try I5800XXJPA it is the basic firmware for froyo
Maybe there's a branding vs. locking confusion. If you flash e.g. an Orange Firmware, your phone gets branded, but not locked. It will still work with non-Orange SIMs (if it did so before). So no SIM lock, just branding. The phone will tell you it's from Orange, but not insist on using only Orange SIMs and nothing else.
Locking is a /efs thing, which, to my knowledge, has not been decoded yet. Also, /efs is not changed by flashing a new firmware. So, currently, there's no known way to unlock a locked G3 phone.
Except, of course, the official way: You got a phone at a reduced price. Part of the deal is that you now need to use SIMs from the company which had to deal with the difference. So it doesn't sound insane to me that you have to give them some money back to have them unlock your phone.
success , but it now say its rooted but its not
if u have superuser app then it's rooted that's it
goto menu and search for superuser app no need to open it if it is present then ur phone is rooted
superuser app does nothing on its own it gives permission to other apps like the allow/deny and administrator preferences in win7/vista
I have super user but setcpu says no your not rooted

Soft-bricked and recovered backup. Now unable to root.

Hello everyone.
N910W running stock Samsung firmware, 5.1.1 Lollipop.
I had my phone rooted a few months back and decided I wanted to try a Marshmallow rom. I created a backup of my pre-rooted device a few days prior, so I wasnt worried.
The rom I flashed for some reason would not allow me to use my carriers network, but only other networks. So i restored my unrooted backup.
Now whenever I try to root my phone, I get a bootloop. Every method I've tried so far (TWRP flash and ODIN, pretty much) has produced similar results. I could find the original samsung firmware for the device and flash it over and start from scratch, but I don't want to lose my data if I don't have to.
Halp. Send halp.
thanks guys.
P.s. i tried using the search, but this is either a unique problem or the search bar sucks.

sim unlock screen keeps force closing

I'm having a weird issue.
Finally paid off the Tmobile note4 not too long ago and i requested the sim unlock code. So with that in hand I should be ready to go.
It took a while for me to find someone i knew with a ATT micro sim that i could use. Many people have nanos or is on TMO. Popped in their sim and booted up phone, no unlock screen. So i attempted to make a call and then the unlock code prompted up but INSTANTLY right after it FORCED CLOSED. Rinse and repeat, same thing happens.
I think the forced closed message was " about.phone" but I didn't think to write it down at the time, i was just mad. So i'm asking if there is a way to get the SIM unlock screen to pop up without a foreign sim?
Right now i'm a Note4 running dr.ketan rom on MM. I'm debating on switching ROMs and trying again or going back to stock for a brief moment (but i forgot how to go back to stock)
Anyone have this problem?

Total guesswork on the first part of your problem.
Did you install the (correct) bootloader and modem files for the Dr. Ketan ROM before installing the ROM itself?
When I used that ROM, the latest bootloader and modem files didn't work. So I used the ones mentioned and had no problems after that.
To return back to stock MM 6.01, I cleared everything in TWRP. I just flashed the official firmware via Odin. No need to bother with bootloader and modem files.
Then I restored my Nandroid backup, after flashing TWRP.

I'm pretty sure Dr ketan rom was correct. Everything works great aside from the documented youtube issue at 1080.
My issue was only when trying to sim unlock the phone. It forced closes the screen/dialer app everytime. Hence why I think it was ROM related.
Any link to factory dok2 rom?

Restore from 6.0.1 back to official stock from and bootloader

I am using Aryanof s7 edge port in my note 3. I need to restore everything back to official. So I think I need to go back to 5.0.
Do I just download the official from and install in obin? How can I restore bootloader too? Thanks.
Use Odin to flash the latest stock ROM for your phone. The stock ROM will include the bootloader, modem, system.
Thanks. Any special instructions I need to be aware?
I tried to downgrade for my previous s2 but it becomes bricked several years ago. I then notice some big version cannot downgrade. That's why I create a thread.
Let me try
I recommend flashing the latest stock ROM for your phone. This will ensure that the bootloader and modem are not being downgraded.
unfortunately, the phone is bricked.
there is a need for me to use the latest stock rom which is 5.0. May I know what I can do?
My retailer gives me some discount for my new phone but I need to restore to the stock rom
If the phone is bricked you can do nothing .Bricked is dead phone .
How did the phone brick?
It keeps rebooting. I then tried to flash another 5.0 stock ROM and due to other things happen, I just leave it there. Amazingly, when I come back, I see the setup screen.
Now i successfully downgrade from 6 to 5. Thanks

Flashing Custom Roms on Oneplus6T

hi guys,
Ive been using stock rom since i purchased this phone.
Thinking of flashing some custom roms. but i have few questions in my mind. Hope you guys can advice me on that.
- Can i use a custom rom without Root ? My interntion is to use banking apps without any problem. Not really interested in in using Magisk to hide the root status.
- i have a manually enabled call recording on my Oneplus6T. Do i get this feature working on any custom rom ?
- I undestand that i need to unlock my bootloader to flash custom roms, so in case if i want to revert back to stock rom in future , will it break any security mechanism of the phone?
Please advise.
- Yes you can run a custom rom without root. You can even lock your bootloader with a custom ROM (WARNING, you can just lock your bootloader, it's a whole process, DO NOT just do this. Research first!). That being said, I would venture to say many banking apps would take issue with custom ROMs even if you aren't rooted. However I don't use them, so I can't say this for certain.
- Yes call recording works in (some) custom ROMs.
- Unlock your bootloader, won't harm anything. You can always go back to stock. If you want to completely go back to stock you should be able to just run the MSMTool and it should put your phone back exactly as it was out of the box. It reloads the stock software, and relocks the bootloader.
