Im new to sprint, and got S7 edge but it keeps using the visual vm. I tried unsubscribing but it is still the default Voicemail, i dont want the app. I cant uninstall it.
On my note4 it gave you like a 30 day trial. I agree I didn't want it but it nags you to buy it. Just keep saying no, but enjoy the trial
Same here I had to contact tech support and have them remove it from my account

How was it? I chatted with a CS and wasnt successful. I tried unsubscribing and disabled the voicemail app using package disabler but it wouldn't work.
Tech support removed it for me.. I have normal voicemail now.. Thankfully cause the visual voice was annoying free trial or nor lol

Why not share with us the steps sprint tech support utilized to return your phone to original voicemail?
I used package disabler to disable the visual voicemail just fine.

There were no steps on my part. I called and said hey this visual voice is annoying. The tech support person said "I'll remove it from your account" and that was it. Try logging into your Sprint account and under "additional services" click "remove." Then just disable/uninstall it on your phone

Yeah my experience wasn't like that when I called in or is there anything under additional services for voicemail or am I able to uninstall or disable....
So what do you have in the bottom left corner of your phone keypad currently? Is the icon still there? If you click it what happens?

You did not mention that. Not sure how your going to call Sprint to remove the app when you are on ATT? You will have to take a chance on disabling it.

My wish is that we all slow down when we read and re-read before we post a reply. As you can read bLueBry said "I have an unlocked s7 930p" a sprint phone "my carrier is att."
I'm using 930u firmware on my 930p which doesn't have a voicemail app. I don't want visual voicemail, I would like the original dial in to voicemail and still get notifications.

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if the N1's visual voicemail will be compatable with at&t's visual voicemail, like the iphone. I currently have a touch pro and have to jump through hoops to get my voicemail visual style, and even then it's through youmail, and my email, so not very pretty.
First, you could have discussed this in the other VVM thread going on right now. Second, N1 doesn't have its own VVM. If you're referring to Google Voice, it works on all carriers.
sorry didn't see the other one. must have looked right over it. what I meant though is, will the visual voicemail that at&t uses, like for the iphone, also work with the N1 or do you need to be with tmobile.

AT&T has not released a visual VM app for Android yet, so no. But you should just use Google Voice anyway. It stomps carrier voicemail, and it will transcribe your messages for you so you can read them. (and the voicemail is not even the main service of GV)
I can't get it to work. It keeps telling me it can't change my carrier settings (at&t)

What exactly do you do for it to give you that error?
hey, another question on behalf of my friend. he has an unlocked vibrant, but is using an at&t sim card. How can we set up his at&t visual voicemail?
You might wanna tell "your friend" to look for a Captivate system dump and pick out the at&t VVM app (if it exists) and install it on "his" phone. Then forward missed calls, etc to his at&t voicemail number which I'm sure "he" can get from the carrier.
That's at least a start.
um... google voice?

lol, why are you putting "your friend" and "his" in quotation marks. Are you implying I'm asking the questions for myself? LOL, why wouldn't i just admit that. Its not like I'm breaking the law. It's really for someone else, not my phone. I own the vibrant with a t-mobile sim, and he owns the vibrant with a at&t sim. Is that even something to make up and lie about? lol
btw whats a system dump?

I don't even know what your comment means. If you pay for your rate plan, and it includes voicemail, why wouldn't you use it. You have no choice but to pay for it.
This wasn't the point of the question btw, this person wants to use At&t visual voice... if someone knows how to make it work on the vibrant, It will be much appreciated.

what he saying is that: http://voice.google.com -- it's free and it's better than the carrier's voicemail. When installing the app you can redirect it to Google Voice as your primary voicemail service. And "we" don't use the carrier voicemail because Google Voice's voicemail is better. Just because they give it to you, doesn't mean that you're forced to use it.

No one is FORCING him to do anything. It is pretty obvious that the OP doesn't know what Google Voice is, why be so judgmental about a service that he has never tried before?
And I can say the same thing to you, hypocrite.. nothing better to do than to start conflict over the internet?

Okay so I decided to test out google voice for myself, 2 things I dont like.
I set my phone to driving mode, so it would read the voicemail outloud to me. I don't like how it first reads out your given google voicemail number, for example it reads outloud +196151234567
Another potential annoying bug. If someone calls you, and you INSTANTLY reject the call, the caller gets a busy signal, or gets an error message, and they can't leave you a voicemail. You have to let it ring at least once, if you instantly reject the call, google voice fails.
Maybe someone can confirm this for me.
I need a app that notifies me when I have voice mails.
Something along the lines of an icon letting me know I got voice mail. Does anyone have any suggestion? I run a business and notice I had 17 voice mail but I had no notification that I had new voice mails.

I just realized the ATT app requires you have the visual voice mail feature via ATT. Try YouMail from the Play Store. I haven't tried it but it has good reviews.
And no, no widgets or counters I believe with AT&T.

Yeah but I think Visual Voicemail from ATT is a feature that has to be activated on the plan. I'm trying to put the icon on my homescreen to see if it gets a count but I don't think it does. I will let you know. First gotta figure out why the visual voice mail is suddenly not working today.

I had visual voicemail with my HTC vivid...never changed anything in my plan...in fact I bought that vivid on Craig's list and just put in my Sim, it came preinstalled on that phone...so not sure if it requires a plan or not...or maybe it does but a some select devecies come with it?? If that's the case you should be able to trick the app into thinking your on a differnt device...like with some build.prop edits or something...idk lol

I use Google Voice as well. So far so good.
I use the visual voicemail with AT&T. I believe it gives me a counter. I will have to look the next time I get a voicemail.
The service is free if you are on the new share everything plans. In fact it turns out you have to ask for a plan without visual voicemail if you don't want it.
UPDATE: no counter numbers. Just the notification icon.

I just bought one of the newly released unlocked S7's. First let me say it is awesome. No bloat and numerous settings that were blocked by Verizon are available now. I popped in my sim and everything works great. The only one problem is that the voicemail app is not on the phone. When someone leaves me a message, I get some wierd cryptic text message. I can dial my own number and retrieve the messages the old fashioned way. After I delete a message, I get another cryptic text message. I assume these messages are supposed to be telling the voicemail app how many messages there are in my inbox. Does anyone know how I can either get a working Verizon voicemail app on my phone or stop these text messages at least?

That's what I thought. I tried installing a Verizon voicemail app from the Play store but it repeatedly crashes and doesn't work at all. It did not look like the standard voicemail app that is preinstalled on the Verizon branded S7. I would like to get the APK that is preinstalled and give it a try but I haven't been able to find it yet.

Are you forwarding the Verizon phone number to the google voice number ? I use Google Voice a little but I didn't think it could handle the voicemail on the carriers system.
I have also notice that the video calling option is not available in the dialer on the unlocked phone. Not a big deal to me but it is one more small sacrifice to have the unlocked phone. I haven't looked for a work-around yet.

Thanks. I already have my google voice voicemail set up and working. I was looking for a way to get the Verizon phone number's mailbox working with visual voice mail. I had to call Verizon and have them add the "block visual voice mail" feature to my line so that I would stop getting the cryptic text messages every time I received or deleted a message. To save someone else some grief, if you do this, you must reboot your phone before the blocking system change takes effect.
I'm using the old fashioned voice mail service now on my Verizon number. It is tedious but I don't get many messages so I can live with it. My battery life seems to be slightly better on this phone than my old Verizon branded S7. My wife inherited the old S7 when the unlocked version was released. Well played Samsung.

After doing this, do you get any sort of notification when you have new voice mails?
I didn't mind the cryptic texts (in fact, I was able to determine what much of what it meant), but at least those texts let me know I had a new message. But recently they seem to have stopped, so now I get no notification I have a new voice mail

Yes, I get the typical voicemail icon up in the notification bar. My dialer has the number one key set to long-press speeddial my voicemail and enter my password for me. This way it is not much of an inconvenience not having VVM.

When you setup google voice correctly by forwarding your carrier number to google voice you will get it all in one place. It sounds like you setup Gvoice incorrectly. Don't use the setup from the app, use the setup on the website it will guide you in doing the phone code you have to enter to forward your number.

The way I was able to get google voicemail to work was go into settings, phone, call forwarding, turn on call forwarding, unanswered calls and then put my google voice number there.
Isn't there some setting that can be used to enable it? I was using Lineage 14.1 on my HTC One m7 right before buying my 930u, and that had visual voicemail built into it that worked out of the box with Verizon.

I was able to pull the APK from my friend's Verzion S7, but when I try to install it fails saying a package already exists with that name. I can't find the package on my phone though. The package name is "com.samsung.vvm" according to pm on the device. I pulled it using these instructions.
I'm using my 6T on AT&T. On my previous phone (an HTC One m7 that I used for 5 years), I used a MMI code to increase the time before unanswered calls go to voicemail. The code includes the phone number that the calls are forwarded to. I tried to get that number by using the code *#61# but it returned "Not Forwarded" on all call types. I dug into Call Settings>Call Forwarding and all the settings are set to "Off". If I go into any of the settings it prompts to enter a forwarding number. Is it just me or does everybody else's phone not show this info?
When I do get a call that goes unanswered, it is forwarded to voicemail and I'm notified and am able to retrieve it, either by calling my voicemail box or using the visual voicemail app. So voicemail is working normally. I just find it odd that I'm not able to get the forwarding number information. Is this because the phone is not AT&T branded/certified?
Do these MMI code things still work like they used to? Or have things changed & I'm not able to modify this setting any longer?
I am having the same issue. When trying the codes or going into settings I get the same results error. Never had this issue with my other phones. Did u add the IMEI to att? Just wondering cause I didn't. Using the imei of my galaxy s6.
