mmb29v - twrp won't stick! - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I updated my (stock/rooted) nexus 6p to mmb29v today. Problem is, TWRP (3.0) won't stick
From fastboot, I can use fastboot recovery (twrp.img), then click volume down twitce to load twrp..
But if I reboot, then try to boot into recovery, I get the green android...
Anyone else experiencing this?
-mark
Edit - actually, after re-installing it, then installing supersu, it finally stayed...

No I am getting TWRP when booting into recovery. What I did after flashing boot, system, vendor was boot into recovery. Got the red triangle So held volume up/power and booted into stock. Rebooted into system. From there used
adb reboot-bootloader
sudo ./fastboot flash recovery <twrp.img>
Recover stuck after that.

No problems here on mmb29v and latest twrp

I got the same problem. May I ask how you installed supersu without custom recovery?

After you install TWRP, use the VOLUME & POWER button to enter recovery(that's TWRP), then you can install SuperSU.

Bootloop on OP2 after 3.1.0 OTA

Hello everyone.
I've recently got the notification from the updater saying that oxygen OS 3.1.0 was out and awaiting to be downloaded (was on 3.0.2).
Since I unlocked bootloader/installed twrp/installed supersu when I was on 2.1.0 I wanted to update using the same method that I had used to update it before: install full zip of 3.0.2, install zip 3.0.2->3.1.0, install supersu
Problem is after I've done this the phone was stuck into booting animation when booting into system.
And since I'm dumb and nervous I thought that wiping /system before the installation was the solution.
So once again, this time with also system wipe, full 3.0.2->ota update->install supersu
Now you already probably understood that not only the phone is booting forever, but also I lost access to twrp and only have fastboot showing up when trying to boot through power+vol up
What can I do? What did I do wrong?
Thanks for the attention
Edit: I can access recovery, had the wrong combo of buttons going (i was pressing power+vol up but it's power+vol down)
I repeat, TWRP is fully accessible
Edit 2: Since TWRP was fully accessible I reinstalled both full zip and 3.0.2->3.1.0 zip without supersu and it booted... What did I do wrong with supersu?
Depends on the SuperSU zip y supposed you need the one specific for oos3 beta or h2os

I fresh installed 3.1.0 but after booting up and flashing supersu v2.78 i get bootloop. Before it always worked so i think we need to wait for an updated version of supersu.
I boot in fastboot modes by volume up + power and then connect with pc en boot in recovery with fastboot command. 'fastboot boot recovery.img'

Did you try flashing the modified SuperSu 2.78 zip?
I had the same problem until I flashed the SuperSu mentioned from Spannaa the post before.
It happened to me too and the fix is to flash the modified supersu.

Download the full OOS 3.1.0 zip from post #1 in the Oxygen mirrors thread and flash it via recovery.
If you want root, flash a SuperSU zip from the same post.

Zenfone 2 ZE551ML not booting up

Please help, I've made the mistake of applying the marshmallow update file, while using the TWRP recovery. It was stuck on writing splashscreen, for around 2hrs. I thought about restarting the device to restore a previous backup image. That is when the screen turned off for good. No matter what i tried, I could not boot into recovery, or even fastboot. I've tried the key combinations, adb, but nothing seems to bring this up to life. Please tell me how to flash the stock zip, I don't care about the data in the phone at this point.
You probably have the same problem I have. Fixed it with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/help/thead-bricked-phone-updating-to-mm-tips-t3452785

I did have the same issue,Thank you. But in the later steps, when the phone boots into fastboot, I cannot use any flash commands. It always shows FAILED (remote: flash_cmds error!). Any ideas?
Can you boot into recovery now? after doing those steps I still had twrp installed and used the recovery.img from the stock rom and then booted back to stock recovery and applied update via adb

Just flash TWRP latest version using computer
Same happened with me. Nothing is flashing. Tried almost all ROM and even Backup of stockroom is not booting. Every reboot moves back to TWRP. CM14.1 update messed my device.

Ok This is stupid. Asked for help minute ago and I am now with solution. Here what I did and got my device back. Download CM recovery from CM downloads page. Download recovery of 12 not 13. and now download TWRP recovery latest version. Both can be found on XDA. Flash CM recovery first. Boot your device into recovery by taking off battery and then vol. down + Power. Now CM recovery will bootup. Now power off device and again boot into bootloader. Now flash latest TWRP recovery and do same as with CM. Now it will work flash anything.

Before you do something, make sure you read all of the dev posts in the thread or ask there.

accidentally flashed boot with twrp help

Hi, i was messing around on my rooted 7.1 nexus 6p and i downloaded the official twrp app from the play store.
I opened up the app and i pressed the "flash twrp to boot" button and now i cant boot into android. Whenever my phone turns on it just takes me to twrp recovery.
I could just wipe my phone and install everything again but i dont have a recent backup. oops
Is there possibly a way to unflash the boot or something? thanks in advance.

Try
fastboot continue
in fastboot mode
I think something of this sort had happened to me and this sorted it out.

TWRP Stuck after upgrade to Nougat

Hello everyone,
i just flashed the newest Pure Nexus Rom and everything went fine.
I forgot to flash the SuperSU Zip so i tried to got back into TWRP, but now it stuck.
The System boots normally, only TWRP wont boot.
Anyone had that problem too?
if anyone else has the same issue, here is the answer:
I forgot to erase the userdata or cache.
If you have the same problem use fastboot!
fastboot format cache
fastboot format userdata
Then it should work again.
(Everything on your own risk)
If you dont flah SuperSU asap, TWRP will not stick on reboot (w nougat). That was the issue.
No SuperSU was not the problem.
It happened before i flashed the SuperSU zip.
As far as i know, there is a problem if you upgrade to Nougat and dont format the userdata and cache because of the encryption or sth like that.

Exactly. It happened before you flashed SuperSU zip. Not flashing SuperSU caused your problem. It needs to be flashed the first time you go into TWRP or you won't be able to boot back into TWRP. The previous poster is correct.
Maybe we talk about different problems
Ive formatted cache and userdata yesterday,
now i can go back into twrp.
(SuperSU is not flashed now).
Just tried it, works perfectly!

I never, ever flash userdata, and never had an issue.
We can agree to disagree. Either the other poster and I arent understanding your question, or you arent understanding our reply. It's cool, it happens.
But TWRP not sticking is due to not running SuperSU at the end of the install process. It wont stick.
And now i know the misunderstanding!
My sentence was a little bit silly formulated:
It didnt stuck by flashing SuperSU. I just forgot to do that and when i recognized this, i want to boot into recovery. Then i recognized the bootloop.
So SuperSU as itself was not involved. By the way BeansTown wrote in the Thread for PureNexus Rom that you have to format your userdata (normally over TWRP).
Shame on me that i didnt read before start flashing

Did I miss something?

After flashing TWRP from the bootloader, go directly into recovery and flash SuperSU 2.78 or newer to make it stick permanently.

Hmm. If you are on stock, reflash the boot, system, recovery, and vendor from the factory image that matches your stock, security update. Restart the phone and boot into Android. Restart into the bootloader then fastboot flash recovery TWRP-angler.img. See if it lets you boot into TWRP then. If not, try an older version of TWRP and see if that will flash and allow you to boot into it.

Tried that, ended up going down an update in TWRP and it worked, weird....
I had a similar issue and I had to go back in and reflash Recovery image to recovery partition and all was well
