Android 4.4.4 LMY49G Omnirom for Galaxy i9100 - Omni Q&A

Hello everybody,
I'm using a Galaxy SII i9100 with an omnirom mod and just learned that Google released an update for android 4.4.4 (which is the latest omnirom mod for my phone) called "LMY49G" to fix some security issues. Does anyone know if theres a plan to develop an appropriate update for the omnirom mod (and therewith also for my Galaxy S2)?
Thanks for every answer.

Google actually did a KitKat security update?
Interesting. We did do some KK security updates, will need to talk to the team about this one for devices that never saw L or later.

Right, relying on my information that update called "LMY49G" has been released for android 4.4.4, 5.0 and 5.1.1; for version 6.0 and 6.0.1 the release is called "2016-02-01", I think its the day of the release. As far as I know the update has only been released for google nexus devices and for blackberries with android. It should fix some critical security issues. Maybe that information is helpful?

That doesn't make sense on further thought...
Anything 4.4 would have a K prefix to the build. Something starting with L would be a 5.x build.
https://source.android.com/security/bulletin/2016-02-01.html says 4.4.4 for "updated versions" for some items, however - I can't find an appropriate release tag for these anywhere in AOSP.
Some of them appear to be some of the old Stagefright vulnerabilities which we already backported fixes for...
God the documentation for this update is confusing/poor...

Okay, today I got a notice, that there's been another update called "LMY49H". Again its been released for Nexus and Blackberry Android devices to fix some critical security issues. And also again its called LMY49H (obviosly just the last letter changed) for android 4.4.4, 5.0.2 (thats also different this time) and 5.1.1 but "2016-03-01" for versions 6.0 and 6.0.1. So I think this time its from the beginning of march. You're sure all of those problem have been fixed in the omnirom mod before?
Thanks for your help!

[XT1053] 4.4.4 update, full release notes (link), and explanation

Note to moderators: Due to the content, I believe this warrants its own thread. We have a separate thread for the OTA (for manual download), and a separate thread dealing with The X/G/E 4.4.4 rollout as a whole, which has long since devolved from there. I didn't see any release notes for our specific update posted, other than the false and regurgitated 4.4.3/4 hybrid notes for carriers. If you still feel that this post should be rolled into one of those separate threads, I can respect that.

ENHANCEMENTS
After installing the software update you will notice numerous enhancements and changes, including:
Android™ 4.4.4, KitKat® Android 4.4.4, KitKat, is the latest release of the Android platform and includes enhanced security updates to OpenSSL.
Click to collapse
As expected, it's primarily just an OpenSSL security fix, though there are other hinted enhancements, likely bug fixes to any of Motorola's under the hood differences from AOSP.
I know that there were many people who were concerned with the delay in this update. It's because Android 4.4.4 wasn't really needed for our device, just as not all Nexus devices got 2.3.7 or 4.3.1 (device-specific changes).
The actual AOSP changes from 4.4.3 to 4.4.4 was literally one OpenSSL security fix. HTC backported this fix to their 4.4.3 software, hence why they're not rolling out 4.4.4 on their devices. Google also made changes to Google Play Services to mitigate this security issue, so any device from Android 2.3 to the present has this fix (to a degree, see * for details) with or without Android 4.4.4.
So, why did Motorola update the carrier variants to 4.4.4 ahead of the unlocked and developer editions? The unlocked/developer editions got 4.4.3 while most of the carrier variants were still on 4.4.2. Moto's 4.4.3 update provided new features for the Moto X such as pause while video recording, as well as the new Android dialer and some camera enhancements. By the time that 4.4.4 was released, most carriers delayed their update to have this security fix incorporated, while the unlocked/developer edition models were already good to go.
Most of the carrier-branded 4.4.4 variants have a Motorola software version beginning with 212, but this variant got 213. So it's likely that this update has some other Moto changes that will eventually filter out to the carriers, or be incorporated into their L-updates.
*This security fix plugs a security hole. The update to Google Play Services acts more like an anti-virus. It does two things. First, it prevents the upload of apps to the Play Store that would exploit this loophole, and it scans your devices side-loaded apps (if enabled by the user) for apps that use this. Basically, if you have Google Play services installed and up to date, you cannot be affected by this bug. If you're running a pure AOSP-based OS modified on a Chinese handset without Google Play Services, then you need 4.4.4 to avoid this security issue.
I got my 4.4.4 on Sunday. (Dev Edition)

If it's not a major update, I'd rather wait for the next major release (L?), instead of doing all the revert to stock - reroot procedure.
Is there a way I can stop getting the OTA notifications? They are really intrusive, and it wants to install itself, but I don't see any options to not get it.

You can freeze the OTA apk its called something like moto ota or Motorola ota
it is so annoying that it prompted me to move away from stock. geez. that damn thing popup in themiddle of you typing an email!
Also, why the heck that is not available on the site? i can only download 4.4.2 and .4.2.2! not even 4.4.3... motorola support for a dev phone is sad. absolutely no help. not to mention not a word on how to integrate all the nice hardware on the custom images. sigh... sucks to be a sucker.

5.1 for Moto g baked and served ; possibly marshmallow getting baked

Latest rumors are that 5.1.1 for Moto G 1st gen would be released by end of June. This thread is created to track news about 5.1.1 and future issues with this release .
EDIT :
Looks like we are getting the 5.1 and not 5.1.1 as thought .
India Soak test available here Link .I think it should be the same for Asia
Let's hope beacuse last year europe region get 4.4.4 at end of July...

The 5.1 thread I see is for GPE devices..This is for non-gpe devices most of which are dual sim .

Guys, this is getting worst every time... Just wait for that update to come! I started to see my Moto G as what it actually is: a phone! Another Android version won't do your phone better... Just grab a ROM if you want something better than stock firmware... Because I bet when the OTA comes, you will get bored of it and you will go again to CM12.1, won't you?
So this thread does not make much sense here...
Going by that statement there are many such threads which don't make sense ..It would be interesting to see if Motorola offers support for slightly older devices given that the firmware is almost pure android... Besides cm 12 doesn't seem to work well with dual Sim . Let's watch for few weeks and see how things pan out.

Cool, another update rumor thread. Just what was missing on XDA...
yes, give us 5.1!
I got the xt1032-en-GB. Anybody who got their update for that one yet? For 5.0 there was a thread showing the OTA release status for all regional versions, it'd be great to have something like this as well for this release. I tapped the "check for updates" button a couple of times today, but it gave me an error saying that it cannot check for updates right now.
Whoever says that the Moto G community on XDA is the worst... it's the opposite... and we deserve our updates btw, I disagree with the statement saying that an update won't do our phones any better...after that catastrophic, bug-infested Android 5.0 release (which is not Motorola's fault) any update is more than welcome. Kitkat was supposed to make phones with low specs speedy due to reduced resource usage, so it's quite amusing that everybody keeps reporting that their phones slowed down on all post-jellybean releases. Let's see if this is finally changing again with this release - ART was supposed to speed everything up again, isn't it? (oh and CM is not an alternative...it's the Duke Nukem Forever of Android ROMs, at least on this phone (since I never tested it on any others); I've tried that self proclaimed bug-free official Moto G CM a year ago which was developed by that guy who left, but unfortunately it was a crash-prone mess)
The Costum ROMs are not better at all when it ciomes to bugs and performance and not say memory management. Motorola stock firmware with Android 5.0.2 is good with memory leak fixed the system has just 125 MB consumed and a free of 600 MB vs Costum ROM or GPE 300 MB consumed by sysem and 300 MB Free.If Motorola release Android 5.1.1 with the memory leak and memory management fixed like 5.0.2 then I would be the best Android version for Moto G till then the GPe version with xpirt mod pack is the best as I tested with battery life and performance.
and yes that memory leak is still not fixed in the AOSP branch of Android 5.1.1
I just hope that Motorola will release soon Android 5.1 not when Google is releasing Android M.
The soak test for 5.1 has begun, so expect in a while.

No Idea about Moto G 1 gen.
But in India the Moto E 1 gen. gets 5.1.
MOTO E
Android 5.1, Lollipop, is now rolling out in phases.
Owners will receive a notification on their phones when they are able to update.

David Schuster, Motorola's Senior Director of Software Management, had recently stated on his Google+ account that most of the company's devices would skip the 5.0 update and instead jump directly to 5.1 Lollipop. According to David, the 2013 Moto X, the 2013 Moto G, the 4G Moto G and the Moto E would all be updated directly to Android 5.1 Lollipop instead of getting 5.0 first

I've got a uk 1039 and recieved the update this morning to 5.1.
are there still people who have the xt1032 or has it become smth exotic by now? I'm still waiting for the update on mine (8GB, UK version). Getting the impression that lenovo has released too many different variants of this phone
Its rather strange . 5.1.1 is a minor update from 5.1 ,and it was released few weeks after 5.1 , with few more bug fixes . Wondering why motorola didnt jump straight to 5.1.1 for MotoG..
That happens; there were a lot of devices who have been updated to 5.0.1 even though 5.0.2 or later was already out. Including Nexus devices.
So where is 5.1 for the XT1032 now?!

There is no definitive answer if we will get it or not.
"I see a lot of questions about when/if Moto G (1st Gen) will be getting updated to 5.1. The answer is yes... we are working on it. I know you guys want dates but we have run into a few complications so as soon as timing becomes a little more clear I will post an update.
UPDATE: I will have more info on Moto E (1st Gen) next week.... "

my question .. will Note 4 get update Nougat 7.0 Official?

No. This is extremely unlikely, as the model is more than two years old now. It was unlikely that Note 4 received update to MM at all.

but will be have CM 14
Cm 14 Might only come for snapdragon variants .
Reporting via N910G.
already struggling with mm , still update nougat ?
According to Samsung's policy, flagship devices are likely to have only 2 years of software updating while our device has just passed that amount of life time, thus, no more major Android update, security patches may still be delivered. (Note 4 has many major Android updates over time, from 4.4 KitKat to the 6.0.1 Marshmallow). Again, this is the biggest problem with Android where software updating is limited, especially for non flagship devices.
From now on, our only hope of getting latest Android version is through unofficial way, CM14, AOSP are our best friends, we only need to give our devs a great support and they'll help our phone to survive one more day. Be optimistic guy

Thank u bro... its very good information for me .... thansks..:good:
We won't be receiving N officially, but we will probably get some version of cm14 (as advised by @yashthemw)
But I also strongly think we will start to see s7 ports of N as beta N just dropped for them over the last couple of days.
So wouldn't be surprised if we see a ported version to our device some time over coming months.
I'm gutted we lost our AICP maintainer ? would love to have seen AICP N running, MM is running buttery smooth with great battery life for me. But we need to sort out our cm14 branch first.
i think so

First Official CM 14.1 Nightly for Moto G (2015) Released Today

I check the Cyanogenmod site every once in a while, and to my surprise as the title says, CM14.1 was finally released today. I really need my phone right now so I can't mess with it, but I will definitely be installing it in the future a) to start getting up to date android security releases and b) to upgrade to Nougat. I am hoping that CM14.1 will be released for the Nexus 4 soon as I would install it there immediately and use it as both a backup phone and to discover all the features of CM 14, as I never used any CM in the past.

Thanks for the heads-up. Appreciated.

Android O dissussions.

This is a copy and paste from Here
https://www.xda-developers.com/android-8-0-oreo-google-released/
Android 8.0 Oreo is being pushed to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) for everyone to access today. The update builds for Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixels has entered into carrier testing, and Google expects the phased roll out to begin soon alongside that of the Pixel C and Nexus Player. Google is also working closely with OEM partners like Essential, General Mobile, HMD Global, Huawei, HTC, Kyocera, LG, Motorola, Samsung, Sharp and Sony to ensure that new devices are either launched with Android 8.0 Oreo or are upgraded to the latest sweet. Further, devices in the Android Beta Program will also receive this final version.
So this means its time for new roms to pop up all across the board, for many devices.
We all have been waiting so patiently.

Thank you Huskied. I did the update by enrolling the beta programme, I got the final release.
And yeah, this is something like a force update, if the OTA didn't hit the device.
