[SM-N920i] Note 5 6.01 Marshmallow Update - Galaxy Note5 General

Some users have posted success flashing N920G India regions firmware onto the N920i. You can find the files posted on mega in this thread and then flash 4 files via odin. It's VERY early so proceed with caution and post any success or failures. There have been reports that the files from sammobile do not work correctly... Please read thread and use files from mega upload (link has changed several times, so I won't post here)
Update: I've successfully flashed the N920G firmware onto my N920i, no issues at all. I would say this is a safe option to upgrade to 6.01, no issues reported at this time.
Update 2: Received OTA update, still not issues to report
Update 3: Official MM firmware finally released, discussion starts on page 44.
Update 4: I'm staying on N920g firmware, several OTA's have already been released and have zero issues to report. You can flash back from N920g 6.01 to N920i 5.1.1, then receive the official OTA for that variant if you deem necessary.

Anyways its a safe bet that it may be released AFTER march 12 when Galaxy S7 line is officially released in Singapore (SEA) ...

Alright, you win, I click this thread as well. Lol

What a tease

n920i is turning out to be the worst version of this phone. no samsung pay, behind VERIZON!!! on the update... wtf.

Put things in perspective...
In the US, only a single carrier (VZW, oddly enough) has released MM on the Note5. The other 3 major carriers have not. I don't think it's been released at all in Canada. Outside North America, it's only been released in 3 regions (Iraq, Cambodia? and SK.)
This is extremely typical of Samsung. Take a look back to the January security updates: They announced that they were rolling it out to the note 5, but it only actually was released to a single phone in a single region (South Africa.) That Jan security update never made it to any other region or model.
From a marketing standpoint, Samsung is patting themselves on their backs for releasing MM on their flagship Note5 device, and being very silent on the fact that it's an EXTREMELY limited rollout.

Note 5 didn't receive any 6.0.1, those CAM and MID means nothing. galaxy s6 and s6 edge getting marshmallow in wide spread release, plus those versions of cam and mid are pure crap in my opinion.

So is the N920i the most popular model?

N920i accounts for 16.867% of note 5 sales...

N920i covers pretty much all of SE asia.. From Singapore to Australia. Fair chunk of the pie

Guys. Beside the rom update is late there is one positive end as well
We may not have to wait for deep sleep fix and custom roms as well.
As dr ketan and others have already fixed deep sleep issue and there are still some real good roms avaiable now for mm.
I wonder i may root the phone next day after MM ?

I use my phone to pay...here it's bank dependent. It's their banking app that enables nfc payments. Mines a N920I.

It's Samsung's fault and then it's the carriers (if you have a carrier variant) Google is not to blame, they have been forcing OEM to improve their update cycles hence Samsung had to pledge to release monthly security updates which themselves haven't been consistent.

Samsung is neglecting to update GT-N7100 to JellyBean 4.3

I read everywhere that the Note II was updated to Android version 4.3 - all the US carriers.
I own the international version, GT-N7100 (imported by newegg.com from UK). I purchase it because I didn't want to wait for the US carriers to procrastinate with their updates. I thought that having a version that Samsung directly updates will be more prompt.
Here we are, forth week of January 2014 and I still have version 4.1.2
I wonder why is Samsung not updating the GT-N7100 to version 4.3.
It's surprising to notice that not too many people complain....
I'm using international n7100 and mine was updated in December. It's releasing region by region. Hold in there brother

Well guys if you're in such a hurry to update (I completely understand - because I was too) then just flash with Odin. Download ROM for your country from Sam mobile and flash it! I did it couple of times because I couldn't wait for OTA (and OTAs wouldn't work anyway becasuse I was rooted)...

It's pretty much not in their business interests to give the latest updates to their phones. Otherwise people would not upgrade or change their devices every year.
"Need 4.4.2? Oh, you'll have to get a Note 3. sure, we'll give you updates in the future. Didn't say immediate future, Did we?"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------EDITED 5pm CST
EDIT: so far through this thread we have learned a few things.
1. The cellular south flash on sam mobile site is the XAR flash which is the original 4.3 US
2. The new update for US is 4.4.2 comes in at 540MB
Build number: KOT49H.P600UEUCND2
Kernel Version: 3.4.39-1146904 Sat, Apr 12th 2014
3. New icons throughout the KitKat update:
New multiwindow,
new notifications drop down window,
smaller notification icons,
all white notification icons,
definately more responsive,
multiwindow tab is gone but hold down back arrow and it appears,
multiwindow allows for a 2 app paired icon creation for easy open
-----------------------------EDIT APRIL 25TH 345 AM
We now have reports of fixing the COO update by using Kies or by downloading the Sam Mobile Cellular South ND2 4.4.2.
Thanks everyone for contributing to this thread!
The update is coming in at 540MB and the download is slow.
The reason I waited for this OTA update is because those that flashed the COO 4.4.2 in the US/North America region might not ever get back to the proper region without a full official flash. When I looked at the sammobile firmwares there were zero 4.3 versions with a North America region on it. So I doubt we will see our 4.4.2 full flash either.
Good Luck to those that did flash the COO region update.
my updated downloaded and is installing now. Will post back with the changes.

What is the benefit of having the US version over the COO one we are using now?
Looks like Samsung's servers are overloaded. My ota wont download. It says try at a later time

Not sure yet, only 75% downloaded.
Region COO being Colombia is not US from what I have read over the last 5 days.
If I ever have to sell or warranty the unit, I foresee an easier attempt to do either with the proper region.
Yep, noticed I'm getting it as well here in Northern VA
There was an "full flash" MK1 US update, so there will be a KitKat firmware available. Everything will be fine.

Total file size is 549.37 MB. It is most definitely Kit Kat 4.4.2
The Samsung Sites both official and non, show ZERO Full flashes for the SM-P600 wifi only model at 4.3
That was what worried me about flashing to COO, if I cant find the original anywhere, how am I going to find the 4.4.2 full flash for U.S.
I am happy to report the update is 90% done.
If you want to see progress bar, just go into settings and general and about and software update and update now.

CONFIRMED Official Lollipop 5.1 for Moto X 2013 [UPDATED 06-19-2015]

Source: David Schuster - https://plus.google.com/+DavidSchuster/posts/cV4vDyyMmw2
LATEST UPDATE [06-19-2015]
Full deployment has started for US Retail, Brazil Retail and Rogers in Canada.
Source: David Schuster - https://plus.google.com/+DavidSchuster/posts/bEVD4De32Uo
UPDATE [06-09-2015]
"I wanted to give a quick update on where we are with the Lollipop upgrades for the 2013 Moto X (1st Gen) devices.
We have started full soak testing in France and Germany retail this week with the expectation of full deployment next week if all goes well.
In addition, we have addressed an issue we found in a previous soak test and should start full soak testing in the US and Brazil for retail later this week. If all goes well, full deployment can happen the following week.
There were some questions about support for Lollipop upgrades from our carrier channels. We are in a number of the carrier labs now so we don't anticipate issues in getting the upgrades deployed. As you guys know.... the carrier channels typically take longer.
UPDATE: If all goes well with the soak testing this week we expect to start deployment for 2013 Moto X (1st gen) in India next week."

UPDATE [04-22-2015]
Due to the "leaks" about 5.1 "updates rolling out" in Brazil, here's some trusted words in regard to 5.1 current state:
"We're still in testing. We'll post something in the parked comments when it moves to the Soak stage and then again when full deployment happens. Don't always believe what you read online."
Source: Motorola Forums Manager (Mark).

Do you mean those who installed 5.0.2 test drive?
I don't think Motorola would leave the official MFN testers on an incomplete test drive version, furthermore it makes sense to use the same testers to test 5.1, so as soon as those users get 5.1 it will leak and those who sideloaded 5.0.2 will have the upgrade.
Otherwise, it would be as easy as return to 4.4.4 temporary (skipping gpt and motoboot) and sideload the 5.1 upgrade, not big deal.
No matter what, the situation is not to feel bad about them, maybe they'll even get the upgrade before you do.
I have an brazilian XT 1058 and take the soak. I will be able to update to 5.1?
Logically yes.

I'm not saying Moto did or did not fix anything, but so many people keep saying "Ohhh its version XXXX which has XXXX bug!"
1.) We don't run AOSP
2.) When google updates android, all of those changes are published. 5.1 is NOT a full re-write, sections of code are fixed. These fixes are published and if moto REALLY felt like it they could apply all the same code changes to a 5.0.1 base... At that point what is "version number" is is kinda semantics....
Moto started work on 5.0.2, so that is what their build is called, there is no reason they cannot include the already published bug fixes from later versions of android so they they can release their tested a developed build rather then throwing everything away and starting with a new base every time google updates.

That said, on the S9, the U1 only got quarterly updates. You may end up waiting longer on U1.

What does that thread say of Q?
Q hasn't dropped yet, so unless you have a pixel, your unlikely to have access to Q.
On the S9/+, we got the P beta October or November if I remember correctly. Pretty sure it was August before Pie was official. Samsung doesn't usually dabble in the betas, they wait for the official before they start their beta process.
