[Moto X Force] - slowness after some time - Droid Turbo 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I got a new device ~4 months ago. At the beginning it was running super fast, but after a while I started noticing a lot of app crashes and the phone became laggy.
I am running on Android 6.0 with nova launcher.
After an issue with the headphones jack I got a new phone from Motorola. Now I have both and I wanted to test one against each other. I ran AnTuTu benchmark 6.0.1 on both and the results are interesting:
I get 90784 on the new device and only 46741 on the older device. I really want to know what I did in order to cut it's performance by half to avoid from doing that again. So I guess my question is how can I analyze why this drop of performance happened ?
Thanks !!

something weird with 2 vibrants

hello all
I found something funny
I've purchased myself a vibrant about 1 1/2 month ago
it was all nice, problems with gps as do many have, and besides it had few lags here and there..
I flashed bionix final along with upgraded rom of JAC
all is ok
still little lags here and there.
last week I purchased a vibrant for a friend...
took it to my hands to install him some apps, plus rooting the phone and etc...
his phone is with stock VJFD version (should be old by now, and that what also came on my phone)
his phone has totally no lags...
my score in quadrant for example is about 960
his score is about 880
his phone starts faster, reloads everything faster, shutsdown faster, and general feeling in the interface is that it is much faster.
is it possible by any way?
does it make sense that both phone act very differently?
my phone never felt as smooth as the newer phone does, even with updated rom+kernel
is it possible the hardware was changed along the way or something else is interfereing on my phone?
Rami
Some phones work better than others. I never had lag on the stock ROM and even though my GPS was slow to make an aquisition, it still worked.
If anything, JI6 broke my compass...which now goes haywire pointing in all sorts of directions when I am standing still

Describe the phone's performance ....

So I'm looking to buy the Moto G 2014, and every review I've seen so far describes the performance as "OK, Fine, Not bad", even though my sister has a Galaxy S3 Neo (Which is running the same SOC but with a 0.5GB more ram) and the performance is stunning. So what do you think about it ? and if a ROM can make it even a better runner be sure to tell me.
Thanks a million !
Moto G xt1068 will be best in this price range..
It has got a lot of development.
Performance on Stock is fine, but the animations smoothness are crap, partially because Stock is 5.0.2, partially motorola's fault. Install an AOSP ROM (not CM12.1, it has some unnescessary things) and a decent kernel and then the performance will be way better. Its a good performance overall, for a 2013 mid range CPU.
Sent from my XT1068 using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks guys !! Really appreciate the help !
For what you pay you get better than OK
How much do you think it's ok to spend on extra 0.5gb ram? USD 20-25 I think its ok, but how much I will pay to not have touchwiz on my phone it's priceless.
I'm wondering what people describe as fine. I had a Nexus 5 before and a friend's original Moto G seemed decent, so when mine broke I bought a Moto G (Gen 2.)
I've had it a few weeks and it seems to get laggier and laggier. Most apps take up to a full second to load, there are a couple that take multiple seconds. It often can't keep up with how fast I type and will lag hard so I'll have to stop and wait otherwise it will miss letters or start thinking I'm swiping and just input random words. Most of my friends who have upgraded to lollipop have complained about how laggy it is (but I thought it was supposed to run on even less resources.) What I want to know is, is there actually something wrong or is this the expected performance of a Moto G running lollipop? I'm finding it nearly unusable. I'm just running the stock rom cause it didn't have a skin. Do I need a custom rom for decent performance?

Stock 5.0.2 Lollipop, doesn't matter if is Titan Prime or Vanilla stock, it will be laggy, because its Android 5.0.2, if you want a decent performance on Lollipop yes, you will need a 5.1.1 Custom ROM, i think AOSP by LuK1337 has a great performance. Or just flash a 4.4.4 ROM (NOT CM11, its a bit more laggy than stock 4.4.4), i'm using PAC 4.4.4, Its not that stable, but it have 60FPS Animations and a great performance.

No Sir, you're absolutely wrong. I tried out AOSP, Quantum OS and even PA. Nothing comes close to how smooth Titan Prime is.
I get 20,000+ on antutu without even tweaking the kernel settings. And that says a lot.

Hi, I know exactly how you feel. I had a Nexus 5 and a OnePlus One before my G (Gen 2). Especially, after lollipop it had become so laggy, sometimes, I felt like throwing my phone. I rooted and started flashing roms on the G after I got done with college in the first week of April, and I haven't felt frustrated ever again. Great phone, with great development. If you want a rom that is fool proof, download Titan Prime 1.0.3 and use it with Stellar Kernel 5.0. (Also Xposed works perfectly on it)

suggestion needed!!

hello guys, my father changed phones and left me the legendary htc hd2. so i started playing putting android on it so i can use it as a secondary device or as gps/media center in the car.
being a nexus user i know that android 5 is kind of bugged an possibly heavier than 4.4 that why i choose to install ChauTien SlimKat 4.4.4.
So my big question is: what rom (or kernel) do you recommend to install on the legend for best performance and/or battery life? is there any specific tweak that i should do to the device??
thank you in advance!

I just used the carbon rom (as far as im aware there only is one carbon rom for this phone) as i had it for long on my nexus and really like it. I tried quite a few roms but in reality on android you will always have long app launch times and some UI lag. In terms of absolute smoothness the WP 7.8 easily wins. Not a single bit of lag at all, only annoying problem is getting the thing activated to use the app store as i couldn't find a way to get into a chat with microsoft on their website(might just be the case like a lot of times, that i missed it somewhere really obvious). Avoid android 5 roms, the performance is horrifying. Tested android 6, and it is a little better but still i think that 4.1-4.4 roms are the best if you need android. On android 4.1-4.4 after the long loading of a app is done i found graphical performance quite okay and hill climb racing ran with only minimal lag every once in a while (totally playable), but didn't even get into the actual game on android 5. It also helps a lot to disable HW overlay and force gpu in developer settings as it gets rid of most UI lag.

Rolled back to 4.4.4

After many years away from KitKat (2 years?), and a long list of nuisances (5.0 had neverending problems with Xposed, 5.1.1, any version, would close an app out of a sudden, and put my back to a sluggish, slow slow loading Home Screen), i took the decision and go back in time, and reinstall the golden - to me - version of android for the Z1: 4.4.4.
And yes its working fast fast as it should be with so powerful insides.
I dont know whats the problem with the newer versions, its not about lack of power on behalf of the Z1. It feels like memory leaks.
The KitKat isnt much different than every other versions that came after it. Tbh, the whole design got nailed down during IceCream and got prettier and prettier, but its essentially the same alot of years now.
What did i miss from 5.1.1? Quiet Hours. But i downloaded an app that does exactly that. I didnt even bother to root or apply TWRP.
Just wanted a fast computer that can make phones, play media, surf the Internet, make use of VoIP. !
I prefer 5.1.1
Well I have swayed a few times back and forth with 4.4 and 5.1 on my Xperia Z1, I've researched and got to the point where I realized the 5.1 improved this device a lot
Pros:
1. The battery life got a lot better
2. Precise multi touch up to 10 fingers (and more maybe)
3. Design is awesome
Cons:
1. There is some bug with the microphone, when I switch to loudspeaker during a call and switch back to phone mode then the other party will not hear me, so I avoid clicking that "Loud" button
So as you can see, for me there are more pros than cons in the update so I stick with it
I cant argue the fact that for you the 5.1 is working perfectly. Sadly for me its the exact opposite, whether its rooted or unrooted.
The 4.4.4 gives me all the good things the newer versions should give me, sans the updated interface.
Kitkat has slight lag compared to 5.1
On 5.1.1. Greenify is all I ever need off of root. With a little bit of "headroom" thanks to Greenify, I actually have my Z1 clock limited at 1.037GHz. Not laggy and perfectly usable.
i m on 5.1.1 and rooted with custom stock based rom and i dont have any major probs and no lags...m using my phone continuously(camera, watching videos, listening music, internet browsing, downloading files.) and m getting 1 and half day decent battery life i.e very good battery life. if i start using phone little lesser i may get upto 2 days battery life...
İ use Xperia z1 (c6903)5.1.1 .three days ago i uploaded mx rom v8.5.0....Normally everything is very beautiful but battery performance very very bad.i watching movie and The battery draining quickly.example my charge is %35 but later 1 minute %0. My english bad sorry.last month i try 4.3 jb and 4.4.4 kitkat.battery performance is perfectly.i want to back 4.3 jb...
I remember buying a Z1 for €630 when they came out brand new. It was so fast (I had been using phones like the first galaxy mini and iphone 3gs). I noticed even though it's still fast on 5.1 it always felt like it was faster using the older firmware for some reason. I have a Galaxy S7 now but I still own a Z1 too because I think it's still a really good phone, even 3 years later. I'm wondering whether to use a custom rom on the z1 and if so I have no idea which one to choose. The Z1 is a lot better than the first Z in terms of speed and battery life and I think the phone was ahead of it's time when they made it. It was the biggest upgrade from Z to Z1 than any other new Sony phone that came out after that in my opinion. You'd still use a Z1 now but with a Z you'd complain that it's going slow or that the battery is terrible.
As I said though before going too far off topic, I always felt that the phone ran smoother on kitkat than it does on lollipop. I have no idea why, maybe it's the ram usage or the way it reminds me of when I first bought a Z1.

Performance troubles with Motorola Moto X Force (Android 7.0)

Since quite some time I am having some peculiar performance problems on my Motorola Moto X Force. Sometimes any interaction (like just opening Chrome for example) takes incredibly long until it responds. This also happens after clearing all apps in the task switcher and it can also happen pretty soon after rebooting the phone. Imho a phone with a 4x 2.00GHz Cortex-A57 + 4x 1.50GHz Cortex-A53 (Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810, 64bit) and 3 GiB RAM should not have such problems.
Thinking some app might hog the CPU in the background (though I do not have any battery problems - it can go for over 48 hours without charging) I installed some system monitoring apps in order to get to the bottom of this. One app, System Monitor Lite has the ability to log in the background, when enabled. I wanted to check if I can correlate CPU or RAM usage with the periods where the phone runs slow.
However once the background logging of that app is active, the phone immediately runs noticeably smoother! And it runs smooth as long as the background logging is active. Once I turn it off, the phone will get slow again after some time. This makes me think now that this phone (or Android 7.0) has a power management problem. i.e. letting the CPU(s) run in a low performance state, when it should not.
Has anyone else ever experienced something like that or any ideas how to combat this?
Dude that thread is not for moto x force, just the moto x 2013! search the right thread for ur device.
Thread? Do you mean the Moto X General sub forum? There is no Moto X Force sub forum as far as I can see.

Thank you, I did not realize that. I only used the Search on the front page. The thread has been moved now.
Hello, friend! I am having problems like yours too. That´s annoying me. I just used this phone from about 1 and a half year without performance issues, but from 2 months until now it started with stock rom, so i rooted and flashed Lineage OS. It runned smoth for a little time (3 weeks), but after that the phone got slower and slower no matter what i did. Got heating problems too, A LOT heating.
So i clean flashed Ressurrection Remix, and it was a charm at beggining! Very smooth, but after a few days it started the same thing as always, but the heating got lower.
So, i´m finished with this phone, i think the "Planned obsolescence" got us. It´s a 2015 phone and makers wants us to move on and buy another.
But, while i dont buy a new phone, i´m accepting the challenge to make my XForce runs smooth again. I´ll try this monitoring app you said and then i´ll flash another rom, the "Stock L!ite" from CrashXXL here on XDA.
I´ll post my feedback here.
Yeah, I'll also just get rid of it soon.
