Night clock - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answer

As much as I like it. How likely is this to cause a burn in. Doesn't move at all.

Was going to try it tonight. is it only on the edge?

Only on the edge yeah. You could use the always on though.

I used the night clock on the GS6E and it never left a burned in image.

It does move, at least the one included by default

Screen Circle problem

Got my SGSII yesterday only to realize that there is a circle on the downleft of screen. It's very annoying. Went to Telenor today but they had no phones left. Only thing to do now is wait 4 weeks for a new one.
Any idé on what this is? Have you checked your own ones?

More people have this. I don't know if it went away with anyone? Some say it should go away and the production process causing it.
I see you also have the 1/3 yellowish/darker screen. I am wondering if there is someone who doesn't have this.
Sorry didn't want you to focuss on it, guess you didn't saw yet. but a lot have this(if not everybody).

Haha now when you say it. I was so blind cause of that circle that I didn't notice the yellow/dark thing! Haha!
Do you have a link to any other source that say that they have gotten rid of the circle thing? I searched alot before posting but couldn't find anythin.

wow almost looks like you kept your phone in your pocket with some coin for too long
dial *#0*# to see the menu for individual color display, or use some app like Dead Pixel Detect , to do more tests.
lol it's funny
Dont have any problems with my screen. Tried setting higher and lower brightness on different background and saw nothing. Are display problems really that common?

So no Yellow on the left side on grey? No vertical lines of white on grey background?
No blue coating when tilting the phone?
Take a picture i will look.

Funny like a face plant, as long as it's someone else.
I wouldn't be amused having to wait 4 weeks to get that fixed.

I took some more pictures on different backgrounds and it seems like it is only visible on grey. Ar almost.
Only thing to do is send it in?
this phone has so many faults.
all you can do is send it back and get another one... and hope that there isnt something wrong with that.
Am I lucky? My one has no problem. Did you do special things? Or the circle point was pressed? I am worry about possible problem on my sgs2.

Didn't do anything. Opened it, charged it and booted it. Tested it out and rolled down statusbar, noticed directly and all my happyness for my new phone dissappeared.
I guess its the kind of person who owns the phone..
I myself am almost a perfectionist.. well.. atleast when i buy new things.. why would i want a new product with some minor/ major problems on it?
hardware problems.. not software.. since software can be fixed.
I had the circle on mine, top right of the screen. Made a thread about it last week: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1078058
Noticed it shortly after taking delivery of the box when I was viewing some photos. It's not visible on pixels where full brightness is used (no matter if it's R, G, or B), but on anything between black and full white it's visible. Sent mine back yesterday for replacement, but I was told by an Expansys-USA rep that they won't have any in stock till the 30th.
Supposedly it's from the suction cup used on the assembly line and that it's technically supposed to go away over time. Expansys only gives a small window of time for returns, and my circle wasn't showing signs of disappearing. Might wanna have yours swapped out, too.
Thanks, was looking for someone else having this problem.
I live in Sweden and ordered from operator Telenor.
They only have a 7 day DOA, so I called them and because all phones were out both in physical store and on the web, they was going to send me a servicebox that I will pack everything and then send it. Hopefully I will get a new one in a few weeks. They say that it can take up to a month though.
Hey there,
I got the exact same thing, but on the right side of the display. I got this thing just yesterday, I live in Germany.
I really do not want to send it back, especially since it seems display problems are pretty common with this phone and there is no guarantee I'll get another one without it.
Anyone knows if this might go away? I have 4 weeks until I have to send it back.
No idea if it will go away, but if you've got 4 weeks, maybe you can see if it does fade over time? I had a really short period of time to report any problems with the phone to Expansys (48 hours), so I couldn't wait.
Man... 4 weeks..! That seems like such a luxurious amount of time to check for problems with the phone.
I can't see anything like this on my phone...
How can I see/make it:-??

case with built in card reader?

i have looked everywhere and ive never seen one..what are the chances of getting a case with otg capabilities?

I doubt this phone will be any different. Is it a great idea? Of course it is. On paper anyways. However, no one wants to invest in the R&D for something like this. I suppose someone could form a start up project like the guy starting one for the MicroSD > MicroUSB adapter in the other thread. But unless you are going to going to be the one to do it, don't hold your breath.
I'm actually thinking of trying to make something like this if I end up getting this phone. Fixed battery and storage absolutely kills me. The problem is that the phone is already so long, and I don't know how I'd feel about a protrusion on the bottom (or a protrusion at all for the matter..).
Beyond storage via USBOTG, I'd be tempted to add a battery into the case as well. I suppose getting it to hold together may be tough. If I actually get serious about it, the back cover may come off, and something custom will get screwed on in its place. Then I might even be able to tap into usb internally, with an additional microusb port and toggle switch on the new back cover.
All dreaming at this point though, but something I've been thinking about for a while. Maybe with a new phone, I'd have a bit more motivation.
Although for something as "simple" as just a microsd usb card reader, there looks to be some decently thin ones out there: http://dx.com/p/ultra-slim-micro-sd-transflash-usb-card-reader-color-assorted-7106 for example
could probably gut that and cram it in some generic cases. Or of course just use a small usb drive, but for me, it's more the idea of having my data on a fairly universal media (microsd..) that I could pop in a different device easily
Plus, I have no experience with USBOTG, so I'm curious about any extra power draw -- say if it prevents deep sleep?

AOD Burn In

Is the AOD image supposed to move around? Mine hasn't moved once since I bought the phone, and I've heard it might. I'm just trying to see if I need to turn it off because of a bug. I'd rather not have this image for good!
Mine doesn't move either. For kicks, I boxed it in with sticky notes and it hasn't moved. Turning it off, I guess. Hopefully, they will update the app to address it like they did with the S7's.

Mine doesn't. If you check about on the app what version do you have?
Mine is 2.6.49 and doesn't move at all.
S8+ T-Mobile and mine moves every time the screen locks.
Mine moves also, didn't really pay attention to it till just now

I've been watching it like a hawk. I think it only moves when I put it in my pocket, lay it face down or cycle the screen. I don't want to turn ont he phone yet, but ill check the version after I give it an hour or 2 to sit

Its supposed to move every few mins to avoid burn in. If it only moves when you open the phone, or flip it over etc, leaving it on all night long and having it sit in the same spot will lead to burn in. The S7E moves about every 5 mins to a different location to avoid this burn in.
It's now working!
I just took an OTA from T-mobile. It brought the AOD version up to 2.6.71 and I can confirm it is moving around now. Excellent. Thank you guys for the feedback.
It looks like I may be incorrect. It now moves when I turn the screen on or off, but doesn't seem to be moving in general.
Not moving for me aswell :/ guess i'll keep it deactivated until this is resolved somehow...
Mine seems to be moving, though doesn't seem as often as on S7.
I think it only moves a few pixels every now and then so its not visible. Before it was jumping around very noticeable and people were complaining about that so Samsung changed it to only move around very very minimal.
I use Sideclock AoD on my S8+. I don't think that this is moving. Do I have to be afraid of burning in?
It shifts a few pixels from time to time.
Other times it jumps around like the S7 (less frequently).
Seems intended, no issue.
If your AOD choice image is keeping the same pixels lit the same color over an extended period of time (moving a few pixels at a time theory), wouldn't that also burn the screen? Example: If my AOD image is 500 pixels high and is moving 1 pixel downward every 5 minutes, the bottom most pixel would be lit for ~ 42 hours before the end of your image reached that spot.
I mean this burn in issue would be for a long period of time - even if it moved every 10 minutes you'd be fine. People read things on their phone for longer and that doesn't cause burn in. It's usually hours of the same static image

I honestly don't know about that. I boxed mine in with sticky notes for 90 mins and not once did any area that I boxed in shift under the sticky note. It didn't move a bit.
I would worry more about the home button. I removed it under display settings. It can still be used but it's just not visible.

LG V20 Screen retention

Hello, just thought I would post here about my V20. I bought my V20 on the night of November 10, and loved using it ever since. It replaced my Droid Turbo 2, which was a meh phone for me. Up until last week, I had no issues whatsoever with the V20, at all. Then, last week I could tell there looked to be some thick orange lines on the left and right sude of the phone, from top to bottom. I thought it was probably nothung, so I ignored it. The next day it was gone, until that night, and it was back again, and the line on each side were thicker than before. I now knew that this probably was an issue, but still ignored it. Over the next few days, it got worse, when the top status bar started showing the PM and time in the same place, when the clock wasn't showing, notifications were on the screen when they shouldn't be, and even the second screen started getting my signature burned into the display (though it wasn't burned, since it goes away after a while.) The button bar on the bottom of the screen will burn in as well, as it has started to a couple days ago. Anyone else experiencing this? Have any tips? Thanks

So, how is screen retention going?
I start noticing it in my 3 months old phone. It's not new for me since I had the LG G4.

Oh boy oh boy! My screen has a burn in!

My Nexus 6p is showing signs of burn in on my screen, it's kinda annoying to see now it's very obvious on the status bar as I can see the WiFi, battery and time imprinted on my screen . I used the AMOLED burn in fixer used it overnight I'm not too sure if it worked or what not (I'll keep using it and see if it works) Is there any fixes that makes the ghosting go away on my phone or is it going to be stuck on there permanently?
Your tips can be really appreciated :good:

Phone is a few years old, if you plan on using it awhile I would replace the screen/digitizer, fairly easy to do on your own. There is lots of diy videos out there. What I would prob do anyways. I use mine for my work phone. I haven't replaced the digitizer yet on this phone but I did do the battery once . If you do replace it, I would replace the battery while you have it apart. Only like 10 or 15 bucks for a new one.

Yeah I already replaced my battery as it was shutting down around 30% which was pretty annoying. So you're saying that to fix the burn in, is to replace the whole screen? If its the way to be done to just get rid of the burn in then I'll probably consider doing it. Thanks :good:

I'm almost positive a new digitizer will start you off brand new as far as burn in. But I haven't done that on the 6p yet only the battery.

Thats true if its the only way to get rid of the burn ins then I'll may start looking for a new digitizer/ screen now then. But as I said Im using that burn in fixer app to see if that can cure the problem, I do it over night as the app says its best to leave the app running for 8 hours in order to fix the problem. I use my phone in in the day quite consistently.

Slow process on mine Nardow. I've been using that app for the past 2 - 3 days now and I can see a very small difference but I think its gonna take a while to get rid of it. Either to get rid of the whole burn in is either replace the screen or just keep using the tool to clear off the ghosting.
