Hi guys,
I am quite new to the whole world of Android head-units. I've found a unit that fits my car and before I buy it I was just wondering if you guys could help me out a bit.
The unit is: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Android-4...RE-/281909711323?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
It states that it is a RK3088 unit, although it must be RK3166 if it's quad-core, right?
https://youtu.be/DK4O1XGn0nM?t=3m13s - looking at the description it seems it's a HuiFei type MCU MX.
I note that the XDA repository doesn't include firmware updates for this MCU - does this mean that I won't ever be able to update the firmware? Would the custom ones (Masaryk?) work on this MCU?
I've also read that the microphone is pants, which is why every seller is including some-kind of an external one, in this case a bluetooth one. How does a microphone like that get powered? Is it a difficult to get power to it when installing?
My apologies if this is the wrong forum.
Hello friend,
This is Nicole from Kaigele, which is a 9 years proffesional car dvd player factory.
Thank you for your attention to our Huifei units. But sorry to tell you that,i have checked your attached link,it's not from our factory.
Sorry i can not help you more.
Have a nice day!
Best regards
Nicole
I'm looking at upgrading my head unit and was looking on ebay and came across this https://tinyurl.com/y76zsaqs
Anybody know if they're any good or could recommend a hu, I would be grateful.
Thanks
I know this has been asked a thousand times before but there doesn't seem to be many answers to it. I even checked the aoggested posts that come up when I typed this post. What would be a good double din android head unit to start with please? Are there preferred units for installing custom roms? I used to have an android tablet set up as my car stereo, literally with stereo line out, but that was a bit clunky so looking at a dedicated unit. I already have a reverse camera wired up so would ditch the screen and use the head unit. If no one has any suggestions are there any review sites for these. I did have a look but as they seem to be unbranded not a lot comes up. Thanks for any help.
No help
Due to the overwhelming help, response and support from this community I've managed to buy a head unit. ****ed if I know of its any good or not but I'll find out when it comes.
Hey Guys,
I’m new here.
I have an issue with my 2011 Ford Fiesta and android head unit.
Please see this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...s/ford-fiesta-steering-wheel-buttons-t4081065
I have the exact same issue as this, and the solution posed on here doesn’t make sense to me, I am hoping someone can help me understand this a bit clearer because currently I am at a loss.
Cheers

The short answer is that you need to connect 3 cables from the unit (Key1, Key2 and Ground) to the correct cables in your car. You can do that with a CanBus adaptor for your car or manually thus saving a lot of money.
I had same issue with my Nissan Murano 2006 and it took me couple of months to figure it out and now everything works. Keep searching online.
Hi All,
I'm new to this forum, and new to Android too.
I bought an Android Auto Unit last week and it works great!
There are a few apps that i like to try on my unit, this is a Mekede M300, bought on AliExpress and it has Android 10 installed.
For using these apps, my device has to be rooted.
So i was looking for a way to root my device, but got stuck on my way trying to find out how to do this.
I don't know exactly in what category my unit belongs...... there are forum for MTCD, MTCE of MTCB, can someone explain to me what this means??
Maybe after that i can determine in what category my unit belongs.
Is someone also knows how to root my device, i would be very greatfull!
Thanks in advance!
A little late, but I ran across your topic now. You can find out what kind of unit is your by going into Settings, then into About like on any Android device.
