I have a note 3 and I am with Telus. Using Speedtest I am consistently slower than my neighbor who has an iPhone 5S with Bell.
Outside my house I rate between 10 and 35 Mbit/s and he is above 50 Mbit/s. It doesn't matter where we are, his speeds are always
much faster than mine.
I called Telus and they said they did some changes and reset whatever they reset, but it's the same thing.
What are others speeds like with Telus?
Ian
Which note 3 do you have? The Canadian LTE version is Sm-n900w8.

The sim was given to me when I bought the phone from Telus, I am sure it is capable of LTE speeds.
These are my settings and according to Telus, they are correct.

Are you on a monthly post-paid plan? I know some carriers don't let prepaid customers achieve LTE speeds on their phone.

I'm on a monthly plan. What speeds are other Telus customers getting?
Ian
This is strange because Telus and Bell share towers in certain areas and, with tower sharing, I wouldn't expect such a difference in speed.
Have you tried your Telus sim in the other person's phone or vice versa.

Hello,
I have tried a few of Roger's APN's including internet.com and rogers-core-appl1.apn but have yet to see a 3G connection on my phone. So far it's been on constant 'Edge' or on a rare occasion 'GPRS'. I have taken it out with me while running errands around town but it has never connected at 3G speeds. I never had a problem with any of my iPhones getting 3G speeds. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. So far I have tried 'Network Mode' on 'GSM only' and 'GSM/ WCDMA Auto' but it made no difference. Listed below are the 2 APN's I have used on the Roger's network.

This is supposed to be a US Streak (what I was told when I bought it) but I'm not exactly sure how to verify that. On the back under the battery cover it has the following:
Model: M01M
Type: M01M002
If anyone can verify/confirm what model this is I'd appreciate it.
I just found this on wirelesgoodness site. If true, it would appear that I have a T-Mobile compatible version of the Dell Streak which is exactly NOT what I need.
"We first spotted the Dell Mini 5, aka Streak 5, on the FCC back in February when the device appeared as the M01M002. Today, a new version of the device called the M01M002 passed through the FCC.
Both versions of the Mini 5 are quad-band GSM devices. However, the new version of the Mini 5 supports WCDMA band IV, while the previous version supported bands I, II, V and VIII. This is good news for T-Mobile customers, since the carrier relies on WCDMA band IV in the United States for 3G data services."
If anyone can help me figure out exactly what model this is US or UK, AT&T or other I would greatly appreciate it. I don't want to waste anymore time if it isn't an A&T/Rogers Wireless compatible phone.
Thanks.
what are the umts bands listed on your box? umts 1900 and 850 are for att, rogers, and telstra. 1700 is for tmobile. and 2100 and 900 are europe and asia.

The box I have is not for my Red unit it's for a Carbon one so who knows if it's the same. It does list all the right bands 850/900/1800/1900 & 2100/1900/850 but like I said, not the original box so don't know for sure.
i cant seem to find model numbers. there is no tmobile version. only 02, unlocked, and the att beta. do you have an o2 bootsplash when you start up your device? is the back cover matte or shiney?

The back cover the rest of the shell is glossy red and there is no O2 splash screen, only the Dell logo/splash on boot up.
Thanks for trying to help me figure this out.
More evidence that the model I have is indeed destined for T-Mobile and compatible networks. Looks like I will have to try and trade/sell it for an AT&T.
From Engadget:
"Whether it's branded the Mini 5, the Streak, the Streak 5, or something else entirely, we can say with certainty that Dell's going to be hitting the Android market hard in 2010 -- but we didn't realize it'd be hitting this hard. It looks like the company might be taking a tack similar to Google's with the Nexus One, because a second variant of product code M01M just garnered FCC approval -- this time featuring WCDMA Band IV in place of Bands II and V, which means it'll work on T-Mobile's airwaves instead of AT&T's. In lieu of a carrier deal, could Dell be looking to blow this out on as many carriers as it possibly can? We hope so -- as long as our wallets can stomach the unsubsidized hit."

So are you saying someone sold you the T-Mobile beta device under the impression that it was the AT&T compatible device?? Or did you buy it off eBay or something? I remember seeing a few eBay Dell Streaks and some of the listings were shady, saying that the device has both AT&T 3G and T-Mobile 3G, which is FALSE.

Bought it locally off of a Kijiji ad and popped in my Rogers sim from my iPhone to test it. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the Edge/3G issue until I got home.
It is/was a 1700/2100 UMTS/AWS phone!!!
Just to tie things off here... the phone was indeed a 1700/1900 UMTS/AWS T-Mobile compatible phone. I sold it to a local person who has a Wind Mobile account in Canada which also runs on 1700/2100. We tested out the unit with his SIM card and everything worked perfectly including 3G data connection. Based on the FCC filing and this physical phone it would appear that a T-Mobile Dell Streak is likely to be released at some point.
Hi, I'm new to these forums but have been reading around here for a while. Anyways I was wondering if anyone that owns a Note and has ATT knows if it's lte works with ATT. Hey guys, sorry I took so long to reply
I used this great post to set my APN - using the settings in the first APN for my medianet non-smartphone data plan.
BarryH_GEG said:
There are two different APNs to use depending on what data plan you're on. If you're using a MediaNet or Data for non-Smartphones plan (3G) you need to use the Cingular APN. If you're on a legit 4G plan you need to use the special APN for 4G phones. If you reverse it, you'll get no data. For those of you on the 4G plan, go in to the APN settings. When you press menu, there's a reset to default option. It should pull the 4G settings down automatically. If you're on a 3G plan don't do this and instead manually enter the below settings. If you do this correctly you should get data. If you have a quad-band phone and still can't get data it's something with your account settings and not the h/w.

Interesting but found this link from Samsung that shows the NOTE is 4G LTE Maybe on Verizon not on AT&T since AT&T is not really 4G anyway.
http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxynote/note/spec.html?type=find
Network
HSPA+ up to 21Mbps 850/900/1900/2100
4G LTE
EDGE/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900

Take a look at the asterisk right there at the bottom "Network differs by country." Not all Notes will have LTE, if they did they would list the frequencies just like they did with HSPA+ and EDGE/GPRS. It would have to be at least tri-band 700, 800 and 1700, the frequencies used in Europe, US and Canada, and I'm not even sure what frequency is used in Korea where they have a pretty extensive LTE network up and running also.
So, while I'd love for you to be right, its just not the case.
Sorry
Yea wishful thinking.. thanks

ATT launched LTE in Las Vegas today, so now we have LTE with both Verizon and ATT. I have been thinking of buying the ATT compatible GNote (HSPA21+, not LTE) on EBay, but will hold off if an LTE GNote that is compatible with ATT, Verizon or TMobile will be available in the next 2 or 3 months. Is it likely that Samsung will release an ATT, Verizon or TMobile compatible LTE GNote in the next 2 or 3 months?
Has anyone actually connected to AT&T LTE with the Nexus 4?
I live in one of the cities covered by AT&T LTE in Band 4 but have not been successful in getting a LTE connection.
I've set my APN like this:
Name: AT&T PTA
APN: pta
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS: Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS: Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN Type: default,mms,supl
APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
and enabled LTE Only PRL in the phone info app ( *#*#4636#*#* )
Wondering if this really does work or only is technically possible but doesn't actually work in practice.
If you are in the US and have connected to ATT LTE please share details.
Thanks

As discussed in numerous other threads, though at&t owns band 4 spectrum many areas, they only have it activated in one or two areas. One of which being somewhere in Oklahoma. So my guess is that you'll never connect to lte in your area if you haven't already. BTW, at&t just bought up a bunch more AWS band 1 in more markets and that's the band they use for most their lte.

Yes... You have to remember that is an international ROM.. LTE isn't very big over there yet (hence your nexus devices just being gsm) so most of the time if you flash an international ROM they won't have a lte logo as there's really no use for it.. Just because its touchwiz doesn't mean it will have an lte logo either.. I live in the Poconos and when I do get to NYC those are typically the download and upload speeds I see on LTE as well

It's not so much as "LTE" isn't big in Europe, it's actually more... political than you would think. The american carriers jumped on calling their 3.5g networks "4g" because they could achieve 5Mbps using slightly tweaked 3g hardware. (which was much faster than the carriers's 3g networks) In america, "LTE" is the same as "4g" everywhere else, because internationally, there were no marketing politics to call HSPA+ "4g". AT&T, Tmobile, and Sprint all lied to you when they advertised 4G, they were simply using 3g technology that could access enhanced 3g signal. I will forever call HSPA+ 3.5G, because that's semantically what it really is.
"LTE" is the formal name for 4G in the rest of the world that does not have marketing politics that lied to you about HSPA+ being "4G". 4G in the rest of the world means LTE, not HSPA+, not DC-HSPA (Tmobile's 4g liar network).
On that note, 4G isn't too common in Europe because the carriers are still negotiating the way in which it will operate. It has to do with the internet capabilities of Europe (as a whole) more than anything else, because fast internet isn't really a priority in Europe as it is in Japan or Korea (or somewhat as it is in the US and Germany)
