Device wakeup in Doze mode. - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greenified device waking up when there is a shake or movement, kept idle. Ambient screen flashing up every now and then when I am not even picking it up.
Anyway to fix it ? On top of that previously I didnt have ambient screen turned on. Anyway to disable ambient display ?

Ambient display or Moto display? By the way, it is normal for the phone to wake up occasionally or else you won't get any notification or your alarm won't trigger.

What triggers the screen to come on

I keep noticing the screen turn on when I'm holding the phone in my hand. I'm not pressing the power button

Settings->Display->Ambient Display
I read it in another thread, but found out it applied to me as well. I had Light Flow installed and it was the culprit. If I use the power button to shut off the screen, ambient display would kick the screen back on. Same happened just randomly while I'm driving down a smooth road (no sudden bumps/shakes) and the screen would randomly turn on. I switched to Light Manager and so far the behavior has stopped.
I stopped using light flow long ago as it would usually cause issues. Let me check out ambient

Yeah ambient I don't need and disabled it

I tried to like ambient display but ended up turning it off. It got annoying when I was holding the phone and my touch woke the phone up from ambient. What exactly is supposed to trigger this thing? Light? Motion?
No lightflow here but I do have a skinomi techglass which I thought I read could screw with the light sensor.
Yeah I feel the same way about the ambient display. I have no real need for it. My screen turned on at least 5 times while I was holding the phone in a cab. Annoying

Should the 6p turn on when pulled out of your pocket?

I wasn't able to find a solid answer on google. I have active display turned on. The 6p turns on if I pick it up off the desk (about 10-20% of the time though it doesn't turn on when picking it up). But if I have it in my pocket and pull it out, it never turns on. Is it supposed to turn on?
Yes the sneak view should come on when you make heavy moments on your phone.
Yes, Ambient Display will turn the screen on. at first it'll be in grayscale, but as soon as your finger touches the screen, it will be fully on waiting your input. you can turn ambient display off in settings if you no longer find that feature useful. I recommend turning on the LED Notification light if you prefer that over Ambient Display.

Screen turns on after turning off

Does anyone have an issue when pressing the power button, the lockscreen will come back on for about 3 seconds and then turn off again. I can't figure out what is causing this to happen.
Just checked and I don't have this problem. Weird. Have you changed any settings on done a update?
The usual culprit is probably an app that uses notifications and clashes with the Ambient Display.
Try turning off your Ambient Display from the Display settings and see if it still does the same. If not, then you need to find the app that causes the Ambient Display to think it has received a notification when in fact, it has not.
I found that LightFlow is causing behaviour like the one you've seen. I turned off Ambient Display because I like LightFlow more.

Wave to wake Marshmallow

For actions, I have approach for moto display turned on.
Under display, notifications are turned off.
As I understand it, the phone should wake by wave, but _NOT_ wake up the display when notifications come in.
Instead, i'm not getting it to wake by wave. The only way it'll wake by wave is if the notifications are turned on under display (in moto assist app).

I've noticed that too. You're not alone.
<eye roll> Why even have the options like that. Seems they put an AND statement rather than an OR in the code.
I may have a partial workaround. The notifications wake allows you to set a time window when notifications are NOT shown. I set it from 00:00 to 23:59. This keeps the phone from waking for every notification and keeps the wave to wake functional.
So, I took this a step further.
I left the time interval in place as mentioned above (12:00am to 11:59pm). This prevents the screen from turning on for each notification alert.
I was bothered by how sensitive the prox sensors were. Bring your hand anywhere near the phone and it lights up.
Disabled the approach to wake option in moto display. The display still lights up but it now requires some form of movement such as picking it up, rotate/twist, etc. It's not perfect, but gets the job done.
I was annoyed by the approach thing always lighting up my screen too. I have found that I do like the screen coming on when I move the phone though. Just bumping it lightly is sufficient to light up the screen.

Nokia 6 SystemUI Tuner

I used an app named Activity Launcher and found under SystemUI an activity called System UI demo mode(com.android.systemui.DemoMode).
There it has three categories; status bar, Do Not Disturb and Ambient Display
Under Ambient Display there is an Always On toggle. After setting this to on and powering off the screen the Pixel Ambient Display shows of but only for a few seconds. After that it blinks for a few times before it goes completely off. If you trigger the Ambient Display with the proximity sensor it does the same routine. Why is this happening? Is there a way to fix that blinking?
