Ressurection Remix v5.6.3-20160214-jfltexx Signal problem - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello All,
This is my first post here and also my first attempt at flashing a custom ROM so please bear with me if I break any community rules.
I own a Galaxy S4 GT-i9505, which I had rooted 3 years ago and had never bothered to upgrade. So I used to have the default Android 4 in it. I finally decided to go for a custom ROM and upgrade to Android 6. Friends recommended I try the Ressurection Remix version which I did. I downloaded and succesfully flashed Ressurection Remix v5.6.3-20160214-jfltexx.
All work fine except for two issues which I will describe below:
1. Signal
The device seems to have no signal at all in many locations, including my home. I moved the SIM to another device and the signal is strong, so it can't be sudden problems with my operator. With Ressurection Remix the signal indicator says that there is no Cellular Network connection, and if I try to call someone, it fails with the "Can't connect to Network" error.
What's funny is that if someone calls me, I actually can answer the call and speak without any problems.
What's also funny is that I just came back from a trip where I had the phone with this Rom installed. While roaming, this problem did not appear at all. I could both make phone calls and use the roaming data connection without any complications.
2. Device Lag
After a while the device gets laggier and laggier, to the point that it becomes unusable. This feels like a memory leak. There seems to be an old topic about a memory leak in the Galaxy S4 forum. Does the Ressurection Remix Rom not contain the fix for it already?

for signal issue, update first your bootloader and modem to the latest veraion for your device..

Yes, updating the modem and bootloader may fix the signal problems. But once the bootloader has been updated, downgrading will be a bit harder.
There also is a newer version of Resurrection Remix available, you might want to try that before anything else.
You could also try the fairly new rom VRToxin if Resurrection continues to rebel.

Thank you for your replies guys. How can I find what is my current booloader and modem version? And where can I find the latest ones for my device (S4 GTI9505) and a guide/tutorial of how to upgrade them?

Since you never updated to the official lollipop, you most probably have KitKat bootloader and modem.
Guide here

Thanks GDReaper. Updating the Modem and bootloader did fix the signal problem so my most major concern is solved. :good:

For the lags you might want to try the newest RR version. 5.6.4 has been released.

A300FU Signal

Hello! I have problem with my phone. I was on Cyanogenmod, but then i wanted to flash that resurection rom or whatever its called. Booted it up, but there was very weak or no network. Then I decided to reflash stock rom. On the first time there was no signal too, but reflashed again and everything was ok. I remembered that Touchwiz is unusable and flashed again CM. On the first moment, signal was ok, but after while it started to lag. Yesterday flashed back the stock rom, and for that moment everything was ok. Waked up this morning, and what do i see?? Yes, there it`s again. Weeak or no signal. Emergency calls only.
I checked that my IMEI is not changed. Have reflashed modem with odin, sometimes thinked that it was working, but reception keeps bad. Is anyone having same issue? Maybe you can tell me how to fix this and help me?
Actual signal in my house and everywhere is good, but all problems started when I wiped all data and flashed resurection rom or whatever.
Did you check proper support for the rom? Some roms in development(like one of the versions of the CM for the a300fu don't have properly working wifi

Installing Kitkat modem on Lollipop rom, risky? might solve the Refreshing SIM error

Setup:
rooted note 4 910F Snapdragon
Nameless Rom V5
POK1 modem
While I'm at work (an area with a weak signal) I sometimes get the "Refreshing SIM Data" error randomly. enabling DATA roaming helped a bit, but not enough. It used to happened on earlier lollipop modems as well from what I recall.
read about this on google, did the standard stuff but nothing solved it completely. last solution I will try is suggested in this thread, stating that reverting the modem only back to kitkat version may solve this.
just to be sure, I won't brick my phone if i install kitkat modem on a lollipop rom?
if it's somehow safe, which kitkat modem should i install? can someone please give a link?
thanks.

Help(urgent), updated G900P to Nougat, all is fine but no network signal

thank you for help.
I bought it today due to previous phone failure, it had LL5.0, I updated it to MM6.01 updating the bootloader before and then the rom, now I loaded Nougat by twrp.. all is fine except no network signal. I think the problem is with baseband, my version is G900PVPS3CPK1. What can I install to have it working?
I'm without phone, I pray someone to help me quickly, thank you
the baseband works ony in LL 5.0 actually on stock ROM G900PVPU3BOK4_G900PSPT3BOK4_G900PVPU3BOK4_HOME.tar but it boring asking to update to MM, if I update no network connection.
I was on 7.1.2 Resurrection, it works great extept baseband, guys said me it is projected for G900F.. but while I tried I had the MM bootload where baseband doesn't work. I dubt I can use the bootloader of LL that works..
You need to flash a baseband that was intended for nougat. I have. G900p (sprint s5) running on a att network. Im running crdroid 7.1.2 my sim works great ... You need to reflash stock rom and either leave it alone or do some reading before you just start flashing stuff you dont understand ....
thank you for help, mya you kindly suggest me a stock rom that worked for you?
I've solved the problem, but not really happy how.. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3698397
Found Resurrection remix that works great on G900P, and used Lollipop AO (they said last of LL 5.0) as boot loader. When I used the MM bootloader the baseband wasn't working, as well when I left the stock AO 5.0 update itself by internet to MM.. several updates insluding baseband to the most recent releases and network was off..
THe problem is intriguing, why this happens?

Uncommon behavior when flashing custom ROM - Please help :)

First of all hello to everyone!
I have quite weird problem:
I have my phone rooted and customized since day one - Installed KitKat, tried some launchers, unlocked UPSM and so on.
It ran flawlessly for nearly 4 years.
Recently, for no particular reason I decided to wipe&refresh it and maybe install some totally custom ROM.
NOW: I can install ROMS like Lineage 14.1, 15.1 or Resurrection Remix 6.0 and they run fine except (yes, You probably guessed it) they mess up baseband and IMEI.
I can still revert to original 4.4.2 stock ROM and both baseband and IMEI work fine so i'm not in any "brick panic"
The point is I still want to move to some custom ROM but can't sort out baseband-modem and IMEI problem.
I tried to flash several different modems to no avail - sometimes (totally randomly) IMEI showed up on first boot after flashing but was gone after reboot.
- On my current 4.4.2 stock, IMEI shows up correctly NO MATTER which modem version I flash (is it weird or normal or what?)
- none of modem versions work on Lineage OS nor RR
- SIM card works flawlessly on all other devices and on my current 4.4.2 ROM so it's not damaged.
Is it matter of proper custom ROM+MODEM combination or something else?
Can anyone help to sort it out?
What more information do You need?
Thanks in advance!
Flash the latest lollipop stock firmware to update your bootloader.
Yeah, meanwhile I did flash lollipop an hour ago and it works fine with IMEI and all.
Latest version I could find for my phone was Lollipop 5.0
How can I tell if bootloader is updated?
Can I Flash sole bootloader independently via Odin?

Yes you can. Go to this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/bootloader-baseband-bl-cp-samsung-t3582504
Thank You all for help and pointing to right direction!
Taking care of proper bootloader version was the key step that sorted things out.
Now I'm enjoying superlite bloatware free 8.1 oreo with LineageOS 15.1 on great 4 yrs old device.
And it works super smooth. Way better then original 4.4.2.
Now I'm being tempted to push the limits and try 9.0 Pie with LOS 16...
Whenever flashing a stock ROM with Odin, the stock ROM includes a bootloader and modem file.

Rooted s5 keeps losing network signal in pie

I've just rooted my phone by using https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/development/rom-t3855148 . This rom works but it is marshmallow. I have tried lineage 16 and resurrection remix, both uses pie. I have signal at first, then after next reboot, I lose signal. Does anyone know a solution to this? I just need a good stable rom to use as daily. I've been using the galaxy s5 verizon on stock for the past 2 years.

I had the same problem on every pie ROM I lost signal after every reboot then I flashed the 2018 vzw modem in Odin and now I have no issues no more. This worked for me I take no responsibility if u try it I'm just trying to help

İt can be about MMS messages. When i try to download a mms message my network was losing.
For those who come across this thread in the future, I can verify that the method that ryan posted works! (flashing the modem "20180118_G900V_QL1_MODEM_NON-HLOS" via TWRP). I had the problem where my Verizon Galaxy S5 running HavocOS on Android Pie would lose its network signal after the first reboot after flashing, and this method proved to fix it. Though I can't speak for other device variants.
I had the same problem.
Going into twrp and restoring the 'efs' partition from either a stock install backup or any prior working backup. Only the efs.
RR did same thing on my phone. First boot only.
