Samsung GT-T5800. Android OS 2.1-update 1, I5800XXJH1, Kernel 2.6.29 root SE-S603 #2.
The problem:
1. Battery till 50% discharges normally - about 10-15% per day, but after 50% it immediately shows 15% and asks to connect charger and phone switches off very fast. actually no chance to mane even emergency call. No 40%, no 30%, no 20% in battery level.
2. When connect phone to charger - battery charging level immediately set to 80% or every ~10 seconds: 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%. After that phone charges about 1,5-2 hours till 100% and after about 1-2hours it asks to disconnect from the charger. Battery temperature during charging and after it: 31-33C.
After 3d 8h 40min. (~80hours using applications: Battery booster and Memory Booster, no 3G) of battery usage phone switches off.
Battery usage was:
Android system: 61%
Cell Standby: 19%
Phone Idle: 12%
Bluetooth: 4%
Voice calls: 4%
Time from 15% to 5% - 15 minutes with no using the phone. Battery's temperature 20C, Voltage: 3588mV Phone switches off. I have tried 2-3 times to switch on the phone to make battery more empty and finally switched it on and at the same time connected it to charger.
Here is the interesting charging time line after phone died and was switched on to charge it (sorry - no in seconds):
0:00 - 1% - 20C/3588mV (temperature/voltage)
0:01 - 3%

4:03 -100% - 22C/4184mV - Asked to disconnect the charger.
After this charge GT-I5800 (with no any software changes) stoped to show 50% to 15%, but 30% disappears fast to 15% (it means one short call).
Possible that battery issue reason is that (I think) phone was charged partly switched off and partly switched on.
Maybe there are some battery level controlling OS software bugs, I do not know.
Is it official bug or issue?
Or some guru can comment that battery level issue? I saw I was not first user having it.

Well i also have exactly the same issue...
I have observed that when i make/recieve a call the battery voltage decreases greatly because of which the battery also decreases and after sometime the battery voltage comes back to normal but NOT the battery.
My battery also drops down from 50% to 15% or 5%.....It's really very annoying...
I think that this is a frimware issue but i am not sure..I am scared that it could be a hardware issue...
Well i have mailed Samsung also regarding this issue so that they fix this issue in the next frimware upgrade and hope others also do the same so that we have a better chance of this bug getting fixed.....!!!

And when I switch off / on the phone then it shows probably correct vallue. For an example. It shows me 15% and after restart it is 60 %. What a stupid bug - I've never have this problem with any device before. Even phones 10 years ago were able to show correct battery status. I think this problem was also with original 2.1 android firmware.
Can someone who has upgraded to froyo pl. confirm that this issue is resolved in the new firmware?

yes, in JP9 / froyo is still this battery problem. When I switch on / off the phone then it's ok. Does someone resolved this issue please ?
My issue still exists. Froyo did not help. Also I can't understand why does one time on charging battery becomes hot, another time -cold.

Same here. I thought it is because of my battery manager widget which I had installed, but un-installing/master clear also did not help. Looks like it is major problem. Moreover, few of the battery widgets mention that in some devices they report 1% level battery change, but in Samsung I5801, it will be 10%.

might work...saw it for Epic 4g and gave it a shot (as its Samsung too). Some sites say LiON do not have memory like NiCd did but somehow it worked for me. Now I stay on 100% for 5hrs or so. lasting 2 days with 45mins call time and some Wifi use. Like today charged full 100% at 9AM and now its 2230 and I have 80%.I have switched off a lot of things. Above needs to be done once only. If it doesn't work then go to service center. Remember battery has 6 months warranty only so be quick and try above on new battery.
I also run LauncherPro instead of stock. Disabled data and enable when out of AP range (only use Wifi when needed and have an AP). Background data/synch is always off unless I use market. All apps are set to never except Gmail. Use K9 Email too and ATK. Am on DDj6 FM. Have removed a lot of apps, foursquare included and run 2 screen with LauncherPro widgets only.

As long as I know li ion batteries doesnt have the memory effect but they still have to be recalibrated from time to time, lets say once a month. That means dont charge the phone until it goes off and then charge to the top.
I wasnt willing to wait for 11 hours for phone to charge when I bought it and after few days I ve notice that battery last very short. After that I ve performed the full cycle (drain to the bottom - when phone turn itself off, then after few minutes turn it on, wait until it goes off - repeat few times until its completely off then charge it fully - I usually turn off the phone while charging ).
As long as I know all modern devices like phones, notebooks etc shut down before the battery is completely drained because they want to have safe margin of the battery power because of, as long as I know, when li ion batteries become completely drained then could be damaged completely so you cant recharge them again. Anyway with that "turn on then its drained" I believe that I use the battery more than normal and that phone will recalibrate to the new situation figuring that battery have more voltage than phone "expected".
Anyway with few recharging cycles like those I ve described above I can use the phone now for a 2 days with moderate usage...
That 50-15 problem still exist but 100% period last quite long and also phone can be used a long time from the moment battery reach 15% ...
Try doing it the other way round!
Keep your device on constant charge or at least as much as possible for 10 days from new and you should have now problem.
I have run tests on Lion powered devices for the past 5 years and I have never had to "calibrate" once.
My battery usage is always consistent and seemingly accurate.
And this method encourages max power from the battery.

i just flashed my I5801 with Froyo (XXJPB and then XXJPA), but having very low battery back up, can anyone advice something which can help boosting the performance of the battery? Please help.
Standart disclaimer: I am not responsible if you break things by following this guide, though I will be genuinely surprised if you do.
Credits: This fix is a combination of battery management techniques discussed in the Atrix forums + a technique that I originally found in a Milestone forum (I didn't invent it, but I am too lazy to search who originally posted it ).
This worked in fixing the problem for me (the same problem that I see many others are writing about on the forums), but I can't guarantee it will work for you.
Who should use this? (aka your battery problem symptoms are
1. Battery life on 2.3.4 is significantly worse for you than before.
2. Battery stats are jumping and showing inconsistent information.
3. Your phone loses 30%-60% just by sitting there overnight.
4. Phone idle draining 30%-60% of battery just by sitting there overnight.
5. After flashing a couple of roms, your battery stats got messed up and the phone thinks it's at 100% charge while it's not.
I personally started having battery problems after flashing a couple of roms, applying 1% battery mod and despite flashing jug6ernaut's CWM battery fix.
When I went to bed with a 100% charge, I would wake up to a 50% charge, with Phone Idle process showing up as massacring the battery. The steps below successfully fixed the problem for me.
Prerequisites:
1. Atrix on one of the rooted 2.3.4 roms (ideally,- deodexed and with unlocked CWM)
2. Wall Charger
3. jug6ernaut's CWM battery fix (put it on your SD card you will need it later!) I have also attached it to this post.
4. Battery Calibration app from the market
5. Watchdog Lite or Full from the market
Instructions:
It's best to complete this procedure in the evening before going to bed, so you can leave it at 100% overnight and check in the morning if the drainage issue is fixed!!!
The whole procedure along with recalibration might take up to 5-6 hours!
1. Take the case off your Atrix (one of the latter steps involves taking the battery out from the phone while it's plugged in. Make sure your case won't stand in the way.)
2. Install Battery Calibration app from the market
3. Plug in your Atrix to charge while it's on, wait till it gets to a 100%
4. When the charge is 100%, open the BatteryCalibration app and lookup what the charge is in MV while at 100%. (Explanatory pic, needed number circled in red). Write it down.
My Atrix was showing ~3400MV while at 100%, which is definitely not the maximum capacity.
5. Discharge your Atrix completely until it shuts off.
A good way of doing this quickly is by turning on wifi, and a video player.
6. Without turning on the phone plug it into a wall charger and let it get to 100%
7. When it's at 100%, without unplugging it from the wall charger, take off the battery cover, and take the battery out.
Your phone will "reboot" and show a Missing Battery icon.
8. Without unplugging the phone from the wall charger or turning it on, put the battery back in and wait until the phone recognizes the battery.
9. Your battery should now be recognized by the phone, and showing a charge % significantly lower than 100%.
Mine showed only 5%. Back when I used a Milestone, it usually showed 60% after doing this.
10. Let it sit there charging for 2-3 hours.
My phone wouldn't charge past 10%, but yours might. The numbers don't matter much as the phone is definitely getting additional charge that could have been lost while flashing ROMs, etc.
11. After 2-3 hours, turn the phone on while holding the volume down button and get into CWM.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
12. Install jug6ernaut's CWM battery fix (even if you had it installed before), do not reboot yet.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
13. Wipe battery stats in CWM, reboot.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
14. When the phone turns on, go into BatteryCalibration app again and look up your MV numbers
- if you were like me, they should be significantly higher than before. After this whole process I had 4200MV at 100%, comparing to 3400MV before calibration.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
15. Before going to sleep - Install Watchdog from the market. Go into it's preferences, set CPU threshhold to 20%, check "Include phone processes", check "Monitor phone processes", check "Display all phone processes", set system CPU threshhold to 20% as well.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
16. Make sure your wifi and data connections are off. Now finally unplug the phone from the charger.
Go to bed, let your phone sleep too.
17. Success! Next morning check where your battery % is at and if you followed the instructions correctly / got lucky like me, your battery life should be 90% or more.
I went to bed with 98% and woke up to 94%. So, I consider this mission a success.
(Your general battery capacity should have increased, even if something still was draining the battery, you will be able to find the infringing process in WatchDog with the settings we've set up in step 15 )

Important things to know:
1. It's important to understand how battery indicator on Android works and how Android manages / reports your battery life. Please read this article:

2. Li-ion batteries used in modern smartphones don't have "charge memory". Partial charges won't hurt the battery (e.g. charging from 60% to 80% or from 10% to 50% etc). Feel free to give your phone small charges whenever you have time and need the phone to last longer.
3. Smartphone batteries don't like to be completely discharged or to be kept at 100% capacity for extended periods of time (this actually damages batteries over time). But worry not, the battery software prevents this from happening for you. That's why some of your phones never get to 100% or drop from 100% to 90% minutes after you disconnct the phone from a charger.
4. All batteries gradually lose a small percentage of their capacity after a certain amount of charge cycles. It's a natural part of life. It's always nice to have a spare battery or to purchase a replacement when your current battery isn't to the task anymore.
5. Don't pay much attention to the battery %, just use your phones. I know it's very tempting to track your battery usage every 15 minutes and try to find problems. Been there myself. Thing is, if you do this, you might start thinking you have problems, when you don't have any.
Bottom line - just try to use your phone and not mess with the battery unless problems become really apparent.

Other proven ways to improve Battery Life
If you have re-calibrated to a full capacity (4200mv) but your battery still drains terribly - follow these steps to pin point the problem.
1. Find which app / process is draining the battery.
If you get lucky, the infringing app will show up directly under the stock "Battery Usage" statistics. However, in most cases "Battery Usage" isn't very informative. Most people report that they only see "Phone Idle" consuming most of the battery without much insight into the details.
Things to do:
- install Watchdog, go to preferences, set CPU threshhold to 20% (or even lower if it's not enough), check "Include phone processes", check "Monitor phone processes", check "Display all phone processes", set system CPU threshhold to 20%(or even lower if it's not enough) as well. Run it for a couple of days.
If you start getting frequent Watchdog notifications about a certain app breaching the threshold - uninstall it, find an alternative.
- install BetterBatteryStats from here -

Once you find the infringing app - uninstall it, if it's a process - find out if it's safe to stop / freeze before doing anything.
2. Freeze bloatware aka "stop the problem before it becomes a problem."
Unless you are running CM7, your rom is based on stock 2.3.4 and still has blur in it. Blur apps and processes might be running without you even using them and sucking out precious batter life while they are at it.
Things to do:
- Get TitaniumBackup, freeze all bloatware that is mentioned as "safe" in this thread -

Use your phone for a couple of days afterwards and watch for improvements.
If these software tweaks aren't enough, the problem might be with your system setup. Go through these steps which should hopefully fix your setup in favor of awesome battery life:
3. Flash a custom kernel, set up battery saving profiles.
Many people have reported success with this step. Custom kernels are not just for overclocking. A custom kernel with smart profiles will definitely give definitely extend your phones operating life during the day.
Things to do:
- Get a custom kernel., the popular choice on here seems to be faux'es kernel, so I recommend it -

Get one of the battery saving SetCpu profiles along with it. Basically, a good battery saving profile looks something like this:
- absolute minimum CPU clock with screen off (something like 275 Mhz)
- lowering CPU clock with temperature > 50C (something like ~800Mhz)
- lowering CPU clock when battery < 30% (something like ~800Mhz)
Many people reported success in using such profile for lowering "Phone Idle" drain.
4. Flash a different radio.
WARNING: Be extremely careful with this. Flashing a wrong radio is the right way to hard brick your phone.
Although some people are reporting to have fixed battery drainage by trying out a different radio, I seriously wouldn't recommend going on a flashing spree unless you know what you are doing.
My advice here: flash the latest 2.3.4 for your carrier if you haven't yet. From there on, experiment at your own risk.
5. Disable Data and Wifi when idle either manually or with an app."
I seriously get surprised every time someone says they have a horrible battery life, when they keep an internet connection on at all times. Constant data always = battery drain.
Things to do:
- use apps like Green Power to disable data / wifi for you when you are not using it
- learn to turn off your internet connection manually
6. If all else fails - start over from scratch (read: clean install a rom).
I've heard reports of people getting better life with Froyo than GB, or that a specific custom ROM solved their problem for them. A million dollar question: if it works for you, why not use it?
Things to do:
- try a ROM without blur, like CM7
- try Ninja Speed Freak (developer and many users reported great battery life)
- if battery life is your top concern - try Froyo

Are you using stock Orange 2.3.4 rom?
If yes, your Rom might not have the battery jumping problem. You can still use this guide without the battery fix to recalibrate.
Let's wait for someone with Orange 2.3.4 to confirm if jug6ernaut's CWM battery fix can be used or not.

like when I restart the phone, it shows about 10% higher than before. I tried this multiples times yesterday. When it was about 40%, it starts to drop suddenly, 'till it got to 18% and get back to normal decrease to 4%, 2~3 hours later...
See the images attached, the red circles are the times I rebooted it and the blue arrow is when it drops suddenly...
Question on step 4. To confirm, we shouldn't click on anything in BatteryCalibration, all that needs to be done is take note on the MV number, correct?

Did it only start doing this on 2.3.4 or you haven't checked before? Anyway, I would do the calibration to see if it changes anything.

Yes it just starts when updating to 2.3.4... In the first days I got the impression of lower battery level, so reading the forums I saw the restart/level change problem, and tested it

You probably updated to 2.3.4 while not at 100% battery level, and it messed up your battery stat. So, yes, do all the steps in this guide except for jug6ernaut's battery fix part.

I'm on a rooted stock GB and I'm having the problem where the battery usage stats are inaccurate and won't got below 90% after using it all day. This all started after I used Battery Calibration. Do you think that this would help correct the problem?
Edit: Also, would I need to complete all of the steps including the CWM part? I haven't flashed any roms yet, so I don't know if this would be necessary.

Seems like you used Battery Calibration while not at 100% charge and your battery stats got messed up.
The reason I recommend using CWM is because the battery stats file is created on each boot. So, with my instructions you can charge the phone to 100% while it's off and wipe the messed up stats before it boots.
You can try using my instructions, without the CWM part, except you need to wipe your battery stats with Battery Calibration app after step 4.
lol i left pandora on since this morning and its only at 67%. ugh, when i wanna force drain the battery it goes slow as hell but when i wanna conserve battery live for usage it drains quick. hahaha.
I just flashed navalynt's πCrust rom fully charged, cleared stats through cwm, booted and now i'm close to 3days.

lol yes. I used video playback to drain mine. But if it's really a PITA, you can always just leave it till tomorrow to discharge naturally.

Yep, that's why flashing only when at 100% charge always pays off.
I get the same results by booting to CWM, wiping battery stats, rebooting, starting Battery Calibration, plugging phone into wall charger, charging to 100% (4197mv for me), and then calibrating with Battery Calibration. I start this process at any battery percentage, and have been doing this for a long time now. I have never had to deplete my battery until my phone shuts off, and get great battery life.

After the calibration I had 4200mv, so it seems like you are doing things right in regards to the battery.
"Taking the battery out and putting it back in" trick works wonders though in restoring battery life to maximum state (if you had it decrease for some reason). I've tested it multiple times even back when I had the Milestone.
I have a new Samsung S4. Trying to learn how best to configure it to minimise battery usage and to ensure I don't install apps that eat battery. There's nothing wrong with it, battery usage is fine, just trying to get the best out of it; whilst keeping as much functionality as possible without having to constantly turn things on and off. I'm trying to avoid rooting it.
As a starting point, I'm checking usage overnight, when blocking mode and power saving are on, with wi-fi and data off; but with the alarm clock set.
I have an i-onik 7.85" tablet on Android 4.2.2 - with a deep sleep battery saver app set to slumberer ("always deep sleep when screen off") it only uses about 2% of battery overnight - the battery currently holds about 3600 mAh - so that 3% equates to 108mAh.
First time I tested my Samsung S4 (the european LTE version 9505), (actually I think I had wifi, data, location setting turned on and power saving turned off), it used 4% battery overnight. Not bad, 4% of 2600 mAh is 104 mAh. Still I thought I might do better. I tried the deep sleep app on slumberer but inexplicably the usage then jumped to 12% (whereas it at least halves battery usage on my tablet). I've since un-installed deep sleep battery saver and started turning off wi-fi, data, and turning on power saving - so I'd expect it to use 4% or less battery overnight.
The actual battery usage instead increased to around 9% to 12% - although the settings used might have varied.
Three nights ago I made sure that all apps were closed, and everything turned off as above - battery usage overnight was still 9%. I used WakeLock Detector and found that a Morrisons App was causing wakelocks. I uninstalled that, and the next night the battery usages was down to 6% with much fewer wakelocks. Still not as good as before though.
I then found there were wakelocks due hotmail and gmail sync - hotmail I changed from push sync to sync every 4 hours, gmail I changed from hourly sync to manual sync and I also turned off master sync. I also turned off location setting. That cleared the wakelocks for these apps, but battery usage last night had increased to 9%.
So, despite the same settings and less wakelocks (and it was in deep sleep all night except for 16 minutes), battery usage increased from 6% to 9% - still no where near the 4% I had at the start despite making various changes that should reduce battery consumption.
The only significant wakelocks last night were:
com.domobile.applock (via alarmManager) awake 35s giving 992 cpu wakelocks
com.google.android.google (google app) 7 wakeups
Can anyone think of any cause for increased battery usage from 6% to 9% despite more time in deepsleep, less wakelocks (other than the 2 above but there were many more wakelocks the night before lasting several minutes) and location setting turned off. I wonder about starting again from a factory reset ... NB every night before going to bed I've rebooted the phone, and charged it to between 90% and 96% and it's been tested over the same period of time. Is it normal for battery usage when the phone is sleeping to vary so much?
Charging the battery inconsistently might lower the battery life. And letting it discharge to much does the same. I generally avoid letting it go under 50% and unplugging it before 100%.
I don't know what causes your issues, but if you want full control over your phone, you will have to root.
I also had 2% drain over night at some point, but now I have 4%. But this may also be rom related.

Each day my battery is generally dropping to about 30% at which point I charge it up to between 90% and 95% before turning turning most things off ready for bed.
At some point I may leave it plugged in overnight instead - is that a bad thing?

By charging inconsistently I mean exactly what you said. You charge between 90 and 95% generally, instead of leaving it to charge 100%.
Somebody said that if you live in the EU you will not lose your consumer rights. I guess that includes the right to have your phone repaired because it is in warranty. Other people have reported that the phone service accepted and repaired their phone even though it had knox flag 0x1.
There isn't much you can do on stock unrooted roms in order to reduce battery consumption.

Thanks - that's a good point about signal - my mobile signal and wi-fi signal does seem to vary, so that could contribute to fluctuating battery usage. I decided to test that by using airplane mode and have started charging to 100% on your advice. Unfortunately when trying to dismiss the prompt to upgrade to lollipop, I accidentally started the upgrade, with no way to cancel it. (For me, lollipop really seems a downgrade, I've lost a lot of functionality I used all the time in KitKat).
The bad news it that on lollipop overnight last night, despite using power saving mode and airplane mode, and basically everything else off including sync, it lost 7% of battery.
So I decided to do a factory reset, thinking it would go back to KitKat - but it didn't - it stayed on lollipop. It did give me the option to choose which extra apps to install (including some Samsung ones) - I declined to install any extra apps, and also turned off automatic app updates - I then turned off sync, backup and anything else that I thought might eat battery - leaving the phone with the most basic set up possible. I've not since installed any apps except Talk2Go.
The good news it that since the "factory reset" to lollipop, I've tested it for two periods of 4.5 hours on airplane mode, everything off, and I did not turn on power saving mode. The battery lost less than 1% - in fact for my last test it stayed at 100%. So either the reset fixed battery loss on lollipop, or the power saving mode was actually causing battery loss!

Samsung probably replaced the stock lollipop battery saver with their own battery saver.
You could return to kitkat by flashing via Odin. Doing so will not give you knox status 0x1 and you don't even need root.
On second thought, you have the new bootloader so you probably won't be able to do it without tripping knox..
From what I saw, battery saver changes only the minimum screen brightness to a lower value than normal and it changes the CPU governor to a more battery friendly one.
This is what I observed on the GPE rom battery saver mode.
Testing continues - for the first few nights battery drain was less than 2% on airplane mode, but it wasn't repeated last night. It drained 9% with exactly the same settings (ie everything off except the alarm clock, no foreground processes running and airplane mode on).
I've installed a few apps - one from TalkTalk, one from Three Mobile, a terminal emulator and wakelocks detector. So have now uinstalled the first 2 to see if they are causing the drain - BUT I suspect it's a bug in this release of Android Lollipop.

Many people have problems with the stock lollipop. Samsung messed up.
It might also be the battery. I have my phone since november. My battery used to drain 2% over night. Now it drains 4% over night. Basically it drains very fast to 96%, from there it drains normaly, depending on the usage. This happens on every rom I tried and with even the most battery oriented settings.
You seem to be using applock. If you don't need it you can delete it and get rid of a few wakelocks.
Was having trouble with both issues, pulled battery with phone on, waited a minute, put battery back in, both problems fixed!

You wouldn't want do it if on a regular basis but you can try turning phone off, pulling battery out, putting it back in after a minute and if that doesn't work, try my method.
I would wait until the battery is super low and then reset network settings under the reset menu. Power down, pull battery and sim wait 30 sec to a minute and replace everything. Then plug in the phone first and then reboot. Let it charge completely and for about 20 minutes more after it reaches 100. If you do a lot of rebooting I have found the phone has issues. I only reboot with the phone plugged in, otherwise it drops 2% every reboot..
Be careful, I did that with a ZTE Zmax 2 once (75% charged battery) and it sent a phone into a bootloop. The only means of fixing it was that I luckily had a 2nd Zmax2 laying around and used its battery on the bootlooped phone which remedied the problem. Both batteries work fine , I just swapped them between the two phones.

I used to worry about this too. This is my first LG product and it MAY be different but at the Sprint store the first thing they would normally do is pull the nattery to look at the ESN. They never bothered to power it doen forst so I asked a couple times and was told it will mot hurt anything. I had Samsung products for uears and have done battery pulls at all levels of charge and for many reasons, but I never had a problem as long as the battery had enough juice left to boot the phone. If not I had to charge it, LoL.
Just thought I would share, I personally wouldn't worry.
I know on my old Nexus 6 pulling the battery with phone on was only an issue with fsync disabled using a custom kernel. I think most phones have built in protection to stop this from damaging the file system.

my v20 phone battery draining was about 1% per hour before (about 7% totally ) and recently increased to 2% during sleeping time overnight. (draining 15% overnight in sleeping state)
it seems that during day either performance off battery is decreased.(about 5h with wifi and screen on usage)
Fast charging while second screen is On , is slower than when it is off therefore when second screen is Off , fast charging goes better . exactly , first 30 mins fast charging makes about 40% battery charge(instead of 50%) and after 60 min leads to 85% and full charging taking place after about 100 min instead of 80 mins.
another important thing is that sometimes shades have been seen on the LCD that many users have complained about it.

testing battery drain in safe mode in done and didn't change results
turn off location services and location scanning for WiFi and Bluetooth scanning
turn off WiFi being On during screen is Off.
turn off auto sync, NFC, GPS etc.
not using auto brightness.
not using comfort view .

second screen is off during test overnight. (either with second screen is ON with faced down to lower brightness in other day test )
phone is in Air Plane Mode and all data services is off.
system apps like Google services and Play and Assistance is limited by permissions.

While I don't get extremely bad battery drain. The few times I've noticed it going down a bit faster than normal have had Android system at the top of the list or at least 2nd in place. A reboot usually fixes it for a while. This has happened in every ROM I've tried. Also I swear that stupid Wi-Fi scanning when WiFi is off option in locations settings turns itself on when it feels like it. I rarely turn my location on and I've checked a few times and that feature is on for whatever reason
Power down.
Pull battery.
Hold power button for one minute to discharge any juice that may be on the motherboard.
Let phone sit for 30 minutes.
Put battery back in.
Power up.
The motherboard and battery should now be re-calibrated. If you still have problems, try a new battery.
My Son's Nexus 10 had served its purpose. But Started to die at Random percent, Mostly above 50%.. So Got a new Tablet for him. But Did not want to throw away this Gem of a Tablet.
After weeks of Trial and Error finally found a solution Thanks to input from a Redditor.
Issue/Problem: Dies at Random % showing battery %0 and Shutdown. But In Recovery with Full Brightness it does not Die for hours.. (as later found out.. Recovery does not need much CPU power)
So What did I try:
1. Changed Rom's (All the way from Base Google Images to Oreo) >> Did NOT fix the Problem
2. Clearing battery stats.. etc. ( incl completely discharge and Charge and all those cycles usually we do to calibrate the battery) >> Did NOT Fix the Problem
2. Ordered a New Battery - (Samsung Model From Ebay - I guess it was used or who knows ) >> Did NOT fix the Problem
3. Changed Multiple chargers (Wall Adapters/ Cable from multiple brands which i have at home.. LG, Samsung etc etc) >> Did NOT Fix the Problem
Solution/ What Fixed:
Thanks to redditor.. Who mentioned about CPU power consumption.. And Old Mother board might not be providing enough Power to CPU. (As this tablet is Old.. It was just an Hobby to make it work and Did not want to spend more money on MotherBoard)
By this time I was on Marshmallow Linage OS Rom.. (As Everything works), Gave Root access to one of the CPU app's and Did this..(See Below) Enabled on Boot to keep the same settings.
Setting the CPU max to 1200MHz and Min to 200 it WORKED! I tried every damn thing before. For some reason... this idea did not strike my brain. So its the Power consumption from CPU.
EDIT 1: after some more testing You can go upto MAX 1600MHz (Your mileage may vary)
Finally Battery drained till zero without shutting down.
LET ME KNOW IF THIS FIXED YOUR TABLET TOO.. If you have the same issue as mine. (I Know many had this issue like mine.. but none had solution) Hope this helps.

I used below app (But u can use any CPU app).. But other than those above setting(s).. I DID NOT change anything else. But u need ROOT to make that change.

Hey You can go MAX upto 1600.. If that doesn't work for u.. Keep reducing a lil by little.

Unfortunately at the moment I don't solved the problem, even if I set the cpu min to 200 and max to 1200.
I've installed a new ROM, deleted the cache and still the problem persists. I will do other tests trying to recalibrate the battery.

Humm... Anyway @1600 mine died at 30% .. So made it 1500 and past below 18% and Still running. So I guess 1500 is max I can go
Also Before coming this conclusion: I did the fowling
Charge 100%
Delete Batterystats.bin
Run this command from adb "adb shell dumpsys batterystats --reset"
And then Changed the CPU max (Please NOTE , Select "On Boot" to keep the same parameters). Once u change the CPU settings .. Reboot and see .. if its keeping the same settings.

I could get away with seeing it to 1600.

Streetmart you absolute legend. I'd never thought I'd see the day my Nexus 10 would drain down to zero again. I tried 1600, then 1500, to no avail; then I said screw it I'll just go down to 1200 (with little hope of it working).
It feels so weird to actually have an internet “solution” work. I'm super happy. I didn't want to buy another tablet. I love this one and it worka perfect for what I use it for.

I think the normal is 1700MHz. It's what the program showed before I changed it. All the best! Keep us updated.

What a difference... i installed that a few days ago, and i haven't used my N10 much but on standby it's still at 99% usually it would be WAY lower.. i think that program did more than just lower the max cpu a little.. don't care though. the N10 lives on!!
If you still have this issue, I have been updating the kernel and also found some of the power control settings needed tweaked. Disabling "opportunistic sleep" "logging time spent in suspend" and enabling "advanced power controls" seems to do the trick. had an issue where the device would shut off if battery level reached 20%. Haven't had it happen again yet.

I'm currently running at 1600 with this guy modified kernel and wow, besides no more suddenly shutdowns it runs very smoothly, it reminds me the pre-marshmallow age of this tablet.

Where are you finding these control settings to change?
I have replace the battery of my N10 because of low capacity.
Now it charge from 0% to 52% then it goes to 100%. On discharge it goes from 100% to 46% then shutdown and battery shows 0%. Percentage is the same in TWRP.
Since replacement of battery it have aroud 10 charge/discharge cycles without any changes.
Any solution for that?

I have to agree on, that the N10 chipset/cpu/powersupply has degraded somewhat & as the battery voltage gets lower during discharge, it can not supply stable power any longer :crying:
If i reduce the CPU speed from 1700MHz to 1200MHz I get to go down to 20% instead the N10 shutting down abruptly at just 30%
I do have a spare battery in the fridge for later on. Once I open up the N10, I'll see if there is a capacitor or two, that could replaced in the power supply area to possibly fix the issue.
Note:
1. On second full charge since lowering the CPU to 1200MHz the battery got down to 14% & I have decided to charge it instead of letting it die at some point at a lower percentage
2. I should have mentioned earlier, that I still use the original N10 battery & plan to replace the original battery with a new aftermarket battery later on if I need to.
3. I use the N10 in an air-conditioned room for no longer, than half an hour at a time only browsing & reading articles with a short 10min video from YouTube.
4. Before lowering the CPU clock from 1700MHz to 1200MHz, the tablet consistently has shut down abruptly, at 27-30% battery level to my dismay.
5. Tried complete battery drain / cache reset to 0% in Recovery mode & then fully charging it while shut down 3 times without success.
6. So far lowering the CPU clock has made a difference & for prof now I am evaluating the N10 battery capacity with AccuBattery.
7. I charge my devices at around 20-25% or higher up to 80% to prolong battery life using apk's to stop charging or alert me.
I have switched to the UNOFFICIAL Resurrection Remix for Nexus 10 (ResurrectionRemix-M-v5.7.4-20161208-manta) MM ROM after rooting my N10 (Danke schön Corinna ) & had to update the baked in Kernel Adiutor.
Installing from APKMirror the "Kernel Adiutor (ROOT) 0.9.73 beta (Android 4.0.3+)" has allowed me to lower CPU MAX Frequency and have it stick after BOOT!

I don´t think so. The capacity of new battery looks really good. I use the N10 as wall-mounted control tablet for my home. With activated DT2W, full brightness, showing cams on motion, controlling home and audio over the day, my new battery runs about 28 hours before it stops. With old battery it was around 15-18 hours from full to off. My workaround: Reading battery with tasker and starts charging at 50%
I think the china batterys have different voltages than samsung batterys and N10 can´t work with this.

With activated DT2W, full brightness, showing cams on motion, controlling home and audio over the day, my new battery runs about 28 hours before it stops. That sounds very interesting. I may find out about that, when I replace the original N10 battery to my replacement battery from China.
I forgot to mention in my post earlier, that I am still using the original N10 battery. The original N10 battery keeps crashing at 30% unless I lower the CPU clock to 1200MHz.
After the first charge at (1200MHz max CPU) I got the N10 down to 20%+ before crashing to shut down & after the second charge I got it down to 14% at the same 1200MHz without crashing to shut down & just recharged it. Mind you I was just surfing the net & watching YouTube. I am also using AccuBattery to estimate the battery capacity atm. (Oh & don't install Battery Charge Limiter, because it boot-loops the N10 after install!)
DT2W sounds awesome. Which ROM are you using on your N10 to get DT2W, if you don't mind me asking?

Sometimes it shuts down at 20% and other times it won't. I'm almost pretty sure it doesn't have anything to do with advanced power settings or any kind of internal power settings with the kernel. There are no thermal configurations on this device and they don't add any drivers for it or support for it until much later versions. Heat seems to play a role especially down here Florida when outside. So far in my experience it's most likely to shut down at 20% if it's too hot and not likely to do so if it's been idle for a bit or not plugged in.
