The Device Is Awake Too much (Too Many Wakelocks) - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
i have too much wakelocks in my phone
i try to install franco kernel but it didnt help
today from the morning the device was awake for more that 2 hours (that the screen off)
my location scanning wifi and all that staff are off.
what can i do?
there are pictures of better battey stats.
and battery stats according to settings
thank you

Have to tried greenify and amplify? You most likely dont want to uninstall Facebook Snapchat Whatsapp and Instagram becuase those are all still installed. They will destroy your battery life. But If you greenify them, it wont be as bad for your battery.

i have greenigy that i put in there all my apps except whatsapp .
greenify supposed to make thos apps sleep and not awake the device right?
so maybe the drain is not from the apps because if it was because of they wil appear in the partial wakelocks

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling all your FB, WA and so forth apps? The stats look to me like lots of awake around screen on time and are perhaps down to multiple connections running wild syncing.

Walk me through what you do to attain zero wakelocks please.

Juice defender, no juice defender, ATK, no ATK.
I get great battery, but betterbatterystats is still reporting wakelocks from google services and facebook.katana. Sync is on ONLY for facebook with 3 hour interval.
I used titanium backup to freeze:
-email
-gmail
-maps
-kies
-talk
You will never have zero wakelocks, as they are how the OS works.
If you have apps keeping a wakelock longer than they should, or when the screen is off you have a problem.
Also check the graph in settings > about phone > battery, if the awake and screen on lines line up apart from where you may have been downloading stuff, talking on the phone, listening to music, anything else where it would make sense for the phone to stay awake when the screen is off, then you are ok.

oh the phone sleeps perfectly, I just thought there was room for improvement what with 2 minor wakelocks. just a junkie for tweaking .
I un froze everything gonna scope out the batt life with no power saving apps/features.
[edit]Success! I got around to freezing some more .apk's with Titanium as per https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?hl=en_US&hl=en_US&key=0Ag43oj7rLQP4dENZcmhGN0ZUa3pHSENVeXlqUm5vV0E&single=true&gid=0&output=html
and I'm getting 1mA power draw in idle/sleep according to BetterBatteryStats. Before I froze a few extra apps my best was 20 mA in idle.

you want zero wakelocks? buy a nokia 3410. As mentioned its excessive wakelocks you should worry about. Zero wakelocks means no point having these type of phones as you wont be using any of its features.
A logical step would be to actually use the phone for a week or two and monitor the wake locks in conjunction with what you are using on the phone .

The easiest way to do this - completely serious - is to just shut the phone off when you're not using it.
When you want to use the phone, you need to wait for it to boot up. That's one button and 30 seconds or so.
To freeze and unfreeze apps as you need them will take just as long, be MUCH more tedious, and still drain more battery while the phone is in sleep mode.
booting the phone drains a fair chunk of battery though (at least on my previous 2 phones)

I too have frozen most of what is in that spreadsheet but im unsure about talk as it gives a "caution" warning but i do not use this and i notice it is always in my wakelocks, can anyone who has froze this confirm that it's 100% ok to do so?
thanks

Battery drain problem despite Greenifying almost all apps. Please help!

I clean-installed Omega v20 (Omega kernel) and restored my apps with Titanium Backup. I greenified every app except those that I require notifications (e.g. WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, Timely, etc.)

Man, one thing I know is that Facebook, whatsapp, etc., are known battery hoggers. They prevent your note to deep sleep. In my case, I just greenefied both apps, despite if I lose notifications. You can try greenifying both and keep checking in an amount certain of time. I'll almost sure your battery will improve. Hope this helps!

Looks like it won't go into deep sleep.
Did you turn off scanning and auto network switch in Wifi settings?
Also, turn off sync. (facebook will still notify you, but it won't constantly download all the poats, it'll do that when you open the app.)

Before I upgraded my ROM to v20, I was on v18, and I had great battery life. I have never ever Greenified Facebook/WA. So I'm reluctant to head down that path. Thanks for the tip though!

Alright, I'll try that.
Anyway here's the weird thing. BetterBatteryStats reports 0% sleep and 100% awake, but Settings > Battery Usage reports that the phone is NOT 100% awake.
Hey guys, I found the problem. Flashing Omega kernel will result in higher battery drain. Solution: To flash the stock kernel. My battery consumption is now about half of before.

[Q] New Hangouts Wakelock

Hello everbody, im using stock 4.4.4 rom and kernel on my nexus 4 rooted. i have some delayed notifications problem with whatsapp so i started to use new designed hangouts. ui is pretty well but this morning i unplug my phone and used whatsapp and hangouts together.
hangouts wakelocks going crazy like everytime i open app it counts 80-100 more and last night i saw over 600 wakelocks
i wanna ask a few questions;
1- is this wakelock detector app stable and showing battery drain correct? if it is battery drain looks equal like whatsapp right?
2- are those wakelocks normal or if it is abnormal what can i do for it?
i realized google+ was doing this wakelocks and i deleted it via root browser but u know i dont wanna delete or greenify hangouts??
wakelocks are normal, they are how your phone is designed to work. without wakelocks, your phone wouldn't be able to so anything when the screen is off, including receiving messages.

absolutely my phone needs wakelock to do something, i just wanna ask hangouts and whatsapp used nearly same. maybe sent 5-10 messages each. so why whatsapp woke 5-10 times and hangouts over 400 times. also i know more wakelock does not mean drain battery, its about wakelock time and processing time. but hangouts wakelocks seems like abnormal

hangouts has much more going on than whatsapp, as well as hangouts being part of google services. i dont really think its the app itself, but more likely what google included with it and how google tries to integrate everything together.

App standby and Doze problem in M.M.

Hello:
App standby in developer option is showing all my app active, even the calculator, fm radio, adobe reader, it is supossed to inactive them if i don't use them and there is a lot of apps that i never used and they are "active". All my apps have set to optimize in battery and i was having better battery life in L.L.. Perphaps performance is a lot superior on marshmallow. In another hand, Doze is not working, my device idlle is eating 1% or more a hour.
Does anyone having this issue?
I have no autosync but notification on with whatsapp, badoo, happn, tinder, facebook, facebook messenger and precisition set to accurate. No games, just chrome an apps allready named. I am getting 12hs of baterry with 5-6 hs of Sot.
Now i have disable personal data on google play store, google play service and motocare in security.
Thanks in advance!
idle is draining more than 1% because when the device is idle the location services and fb notification services are still running in the background.
By default Doze doesn't kick in until your screen has been off for 30 minutes and then it checks to see if your phone is motionless - if it isn't (ie. it's in your pocket and you are walking around) then the 30 min timer kicks in again.
This is, btw, an absolutely over-simplified description. Basically if you are checking your phone every few minutes or walking around with it in your pocket, it's not going to Doze.
In your case, I wouldn't worry about what is active/inactive, instead I'd look at what wakelocks might be causing your battery drain. An app like "Wakelock Detector" or "Better Battery Stats" can tell you this but you have to be rooted.
Did your phone come with Lollipop and subsequently updated OTA to MM? If so, and you haven't done so already, a factory reset would probably help (or at least eliminate one possible battery drain cause).
You have Badoo, Facebook and Facbook messenger with location set to accurate + 5 hrs of SoT!!!!! 12 hours is a Miracle!!!!
What do you expect more? Sun, Moon and The stars?

Thanks all for your answers!
-Update via OTA, factory reset, wipe cache.
-Allready know how doze works, doing test in the nigth, phone on a desc, idle for like 9hs.
-Same apps than in L.L but worse battery. In L.L these apps didn't keep my device awake, now they do. Y checked and the one that make my device awake was Messenger. Uninstalled, tested and device didn't awake with screen off. Like 2 hours laters, same test, now facebook start keeping the device awake... I am checking manually because i didn't root it. I am trying too to see if this problem has to be with high presicition on location service or just facebool and messenger apps, but ****ing tinder don't work with battery saving ubication. I know all are ****ty apps but i love to **** strangers hahahahahhaha.
In the other hand, i had read that in nexus phone and other M.M phones in the developer options app didn't use figure "inactive", in my phone all apps are active and can't toogle to inactive!
Again, thanks a lot for your help!
Also, dissable a system app called motorols notification service, didn't know what it do but was with google play services an Dm services in not optimizing apps. Anyone now what it is? All functionality work the same!
Hi. Don't you have a problem with Facebook Messenger notifications? I set it to not optimize, but my messages are not received immediately. Sometimes even after 5 minutes after turning screen off I don't have notification and must turn screen on.

Help with solving battery drain on SM-T500 WIFI model

My husband got a Tab A 10.1 last year for Christmas and uses it mainly for streaming music on YouTube and surfing marketplace on Facebook. While I know both apps are battery hogs, the battery drain is still unreal. Just having the tablet on the "home" screen for 5 mins will drain the battery 14%.
I have either removed or disabled all the apps not needed, have optimization setting set (says battery life is over a day haha), brightness is low and on auto, and also have an auto app kill installed to stop apps in background. Have gone through and removed background permission and set allowed open background to only 2.
Short of rooting, which I prefer to not do with the lack of options, is there anything else that I can do here? Is this a common issue with this tablet?

If you are having that kind of battery drain just on Home screen, without the music or facebook apps running, either the battery is bad or you have some kind of malware. Have you tried factory reseting the tablet? Or running malware detection app?

I have run the built in tablet scan for virus and malware threats but have not installed an independent app. I will try that though and see what happens. I will also look and see if this tablet is still not under warranty, but honestly just going a phone repair to have battery replaced might be cheaper and faster than sending back to Samsung. Thanks for the help.
