download your rom
unzip and untar the file boot.img
make a tarball
and flash it with odin.
if any step above, is it strange to you, or you still have any questions, do not use custom kernel again. You are taking too big steps for your knowledge
To solve your problem now, flash your ROM. Next time, search before flash any custom thing

Hello,
I own GT - I9000 with STOCK ROM exactly this one (2.3.6 TMZ - Baseband i9000XXJW4; and Build number - gingerbread.BOJW6)
And I wanna root and flash from stock to custom rom (CM9).
Before posting I tried to root my SGS by SuperOneClick 2.3.3, however it stopped in the step 7. And now I would like to use ODIN for this. But I will do this once and I dont want to make hard brick from my phone. I am confused in this terms like PDA,CSC atc. And I dont know where to find new ones.
It´s possible to join files to this thread for ODIN for rooting and flashing?
It´s needed to upload new kernel, baseband (PDA,CSC and so on) on the phone?
Please would you mind to clear this issue up for me?
Thank you very much.

Please help me, I am beginner in this trouble...

I am in it too. Try this, it might help :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101534
Hello all, and please help me with some small details before rooting.
I have an LG G2 with stock KITKAT 4.4.2., baseband M8974A-1.0.190084,kernel 3.4.0., build D80220b, software D80220b-219-02.
My questions
- do I need to upgrade stock firmware to D802d or D802f before rooting, and if yes wich is more stable
- is a SIM card needed (as inserted in the phone) for rooting process
- do I need to unlock the phone before rooting since it is locked with my local carrier (TELE 2 HR)
- does a custom ROM automaticly eliminate OTA upgrade and so prevent from bricking, or it must be unchecked manualy
- when installing a custom ROM (probably Cludy G3) do I need to flash a new custom kernel or it doesent mater (probably Bruce if it is compatibile)
- how does one check for compatibility ROM - kernel, is it just simple as finding "stock ROM" - "stock kernel" in the title
- do I need to instal a new KK baseband before custom ROM since I am allready on KITKAT
- do I need to do any kind of factory reset and/or wipe before rooting or later instaling a custom ROM
Thank you very much in advance, I have been searching all over for this simple answers but couldnt find any,
Sorry if the questions are too noobish but I am afraid tostart anything before I find the answers

1. You don't have to upgrade because you can use rooter that is compatible with your current firmware build, the differences between the firmware are only on their features, with less case of minor problem solved from previous build.
2. No, you don't need to put your SIM on.
3. Custom ROMs are meant to give you better performance of the current build, especially if it is Stock Based Custom ROM. Why you shouldn't update via OTA? because with several changes in the custom ROM, Official build will find it different from its official release, which would cause errors that could ended up with bootloop, even worse.. Hopefully, several developers also have their own OTA feature so people can easily get the update.
4. It doesn't matter since Custom ROMs sometimes come with their own suggested kernel that fit with the ROM. But you can also try other kernels if it suits you.
5. Yes, it is quite that simple, but also try to find out whether it is compatible or not with the ROM.
6. No, if you already on KitKat, you don't need to flash KK baseband.
7. Only when you are about to flashing new ROM..

found my country is familiar with this modem:
i9500xxuhoc5
Israel (Cellcom) 5.0.1 I9500XXUHOC5
or
I9500XXUHOI1
I want to download the full rom and then extract only the modem and flash it

tar.md5
thanks so much!!
Hey are you referring to the official full rom/firmware downloaded from sammobile.com?
I know this sounds ridiculous, but I got around my modem issues by installing the official rom/firmware from the above website (thus installing the proper modem), then flashing everything I wanted from there (TWRP, custom rom, xposed, etc.)
(I couldn't find a mirror for my exact modem...... :s)
Hope this helps

Hi sorry I'm unaware of a rom named "infules v4", but I'd first would go flash stock OFW just to ascertain that its a software/modem fault, rather than a hardware fault.
For instance, me being in Australia and having an Optus sim card, I flashed the firmware package with the XXUHOJ3 Modem in it (http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/62513/I9505XXUHOJ3_I9505OPSHOJ1_OPS/).
Assuming you downloaded: (http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/57455/I9500XXUHOI1_I9500OJKHOI1_CEL/);
Open up ODIN and load the firmware to PDA/AP (depending on which version of ODIN you've got).
From there you can root, flash twrp, install "infules v4", and whatever other goodness you like
Note: Just whatever you do, make sure you do a nandroid backup prior
Hi guys,
I see several Roms in the Rom Section that require to flash a new Bootloader and Modem.
I can't find any explanation why this is needed or what it changes.
Afterr flashing those. Is it than necesarry to reflash stock if you want to try another Rom.
Would be glad if someone could please elaborate on this topic a little bit.
Thanks

But before flashing anything make sure your device version is supported by the rom. I am in canada and have a w8 version device, not all roms support this device.
You need a new bootloader and modem, if you are upgrading to marshmallow or adding a custom rom. As the older roms do not support 6.0.1 and custom roms have a base from a different device (usual F series of the international devices). You would then reflash the bootloader and modem for your particular version if recommend by the rom developer to take advantage of certain features like radio (modem), volte if supported. It also depending on where you are reads your sim card and imei correctly.
no you do not need to back to stock to flash another rom just follow the rom developers installation instructions. If you have any questions, it is usually best to post in the rom thread as developer or someone who is very familiar with that particular rom can get the help you need.

Thank You very much for the explanation.
I do have a F-Version (International unlocked) So if I install new Modem will I still be able to use evrywhere ?
Hey,so I have the Note 3 HLTE and I need NEE since I live in scandinavia and I need the baseband and BootLoader and there is alot of new things since back in 2013 or so I flashed and tested out several AOSP ROMS including PacMan,RR,Carbon and others. So I have gone stock android 5.0 for close to 3-4years now and I watched a newly updated URL on the net about the best and newest ROMs that are based on android 9.0 and 10.0 and I found the Havoc Rom pretty interesting.
But there are so much to delve into, and I kinda forgot the process in order to Root from installing Odin, picking the CSC,BL,AP to installing TWRP to installing Custom ROMs. So I need a step by step guide on how to do this. I used to use the SuperSU app,but found out Magiska stops even more. I have also downloaded the GAPP pico and nano.
I have installed Odin 3.13.1, had to get a stock SAM 5.0 android FW image, managed to find the PIT file in case, and I'm using this and I'm thinking this is the correct to use; N9005XXUGBNL8_CL3643614_QB3415922. If not please redirect me to the correct one. So I think I have all that I need, but I'm not sure.
I have found several guides here on XDA and read them when it comes to the ROM installation, outside of XDA and a updated YT video that has been updated in 2020,but they are different in the step-by-step and so I dont know which to follow.
So I need somone who is kind enough to guide and write down step by step on how to flash with Odin, TWRP via Odin and the Custom ROMs. THe installing of Custom ROMs I have no problems to do. But I need the correct order so I dont brick my phone or bootloop it.
Kind regards
Anders
Odin and flash
TWRP Recovery as per version required by each rom .
Flash Custom rom as per that roms instructions .
CSC NA
BL NA unless instructed to update .Likewise baseband/ modem
CSC BL AP are for stock rom Odin flashing not custom .
