So any roms for [email protected] S4? I know it is getting it from [email protected] later in the year but I'm rooted.
I don't think any s4 variant will get marshmallow.
With a locked bootloader, there will be no custom mm ROMs for the i337.

I'm currently on MM with an i337 on MDL

The OP has an att phone and, since the att version has a locked bootloader, att has to release the firmware. The phone will not work with a custom rom based on anything other than a tw-based rom.
I should have been clearer in my posting in that I was referring to stock mm from Samsung rather than a custom rom. Sorry about the confusion.
Mate i have the same att phone. If the op has updated his firmware above 4.2 then his bootloader will not be mdl or mdb and therefore he cannot flash non tw roms. If he is still on mdl or mdb like i am, he can like i have

I just recently rooted my Samsung galaxy s4.i purchased it the other day and it's running MK2 I was able to use safe root to do so. I also have safe boot installed as a recovery. My question is, how can I install aosp roms? I couldn't find any information on this. The only roms safe boot supports is stock. Where do I go from here? I am new to s4 so please be nice. Thank you so much.
You can't

Its to bad you didn't get the S4 back when it was released or earlier last summer when it was shipping with MDL firmware. This firmware allowed us to use loki and install any custom rom we want, including pure kitkat. Maybe you can trade your new one for an MDL one.
Well. ... Is there a way that I could downgrade my firmware and root from there?

I wish you could. Devices running MF3 firmware or higher blew an eFuse when they upgraded from MDL firmware. There is no way back. AT&T and Samsung are doing everything possible to make it so we can't root or flash custom recoveries. It's beyond disgusting how much AT&T goes out of its way to stop us from getting into our own devices.
I'd recommend not purchasing the AT&T branded devices from here on out. Let's hope that the international version of the s5 supports AT&T's LTE bands.
Currently have a AT&T S4 rooted with MDL firmware. I have flashed other 4.3 loki roms without any problems (using Goldeneye 20 now). From the reading that I have done on the forums, it is my understanding that certain roms require a newer firmware version, for example, Hyperdrive. Is that a correct statement? If so, will that continue to be the trend with later releases? Can anyone provide any additional information to help me understand this better? Thanks in advance!

For MDL, that does not apply. Basically people with MF3+ phones need to upgrade to 4.3 to have 4.3 ROMs. All you need to do is continue to use loki and never upgrade your bootloaders.

Unless he wants a 4.4.2 rom then he needs the new bootloader....which is locked! so stay away of 4.4.2 for now
Flashing roms (unless stated by OP) will not update your bootloader correct? Since I am one of the lucky ones to have the MDL, I don't want to jeopardize it.

Not true, he can flash a 4.4.2 ROM with the MDL bootloader as long as he gets a loki 4.4.2 kernel. Otherwise the 4.4.2 Google Edition thread wouldn't get much attention

Flashing ROMs will not touch your bootloaders. Just never take any OTA updates to the stock ROM, and never ODIN any firmware except MDL. OTA updates on custom ROMs will only work in some cases (GE doesn't because they're ported from a different model, Hyperdrive will because it has a specialized system).
I'm MDL on 4.2.2, how did you upgrade to 4.3 but keep your MDL?

You can use the StockUp ROM, it's just MK2 with bloat removed and you can even flash the bloat back on if you want.

Interesting yeah, no bloat love here, I've got a metric ton of it frozen with Titanium. I was thinking that the only thing I could try was http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2356276 . I haven't actually flashed any roms yet, only rooted and have twrp. Thank you for the info
I'm on MDL firmware (AT&T) running Hyperdrive RSL13 with KTs kernel. I've had 4.2.2 and 4.4.2 roms on this phone. You can bounce around with no problem. My recovery auto lokis...using shabby penguins recovery.
I noticed the lollipop update is now available for the note 3. However I still want to keep root. I searched google and found this guide, but I'm not sure if its legit or works.

Not sure, but did you see Hsbadr post in android dev...it's a rooted stock lollipop rom
Pay close attention...that is for the N900 International N3 that does not have a locked bootloader.

It's not the international N3, as those are modeled "N900n" where n is a number. The N900 is a SIM unlocked US variant that works on GSM only carriers. (All US variants are N900(x) where x is a letter representing the carrier. No Carrier leaves x blank.)
*EDIT*
Just to reiterate, this won't work on the N900V
The point is it does not work for Verizon or Att with locked bootloaders.

If I understand correctly there is currently no way to install Janine ROM of you are already on lollipop right? I just bought a used note three but haven't gotten it yet to see which firmware is on it. In coming from a g2 where there were plenty of ways to root

If you're already on lollipop than you cannot root or flash any roms. You need to be on either 4.4.2 or 4.4.4 already rooted with safe strap installed to install the rooted stock rom
Oh so jasmine ROM is basically stock 5.0 with root? So basically I just need to flash his ROM and I'm good to go? I'm running 4.4.2 and have safestrap installed

Hey guys, everything I've read has said once you update beyond 4.3 you can never go back down because of knox. I also saw someone mention you actually can downgrade to a custom ROM based on a previous build just not to stock. Can anyone clarify this for me? I'm not worried about breaking my warranty since it's long since expired. I'm on the rooted 5.01 Goldeneye ROM and want to go back to a 4.2 ROM. strictly for tethering purposes
What is the model # for the s4?
It's the AT&T sgh-i337
With a locked bootloader, the phone is limited to customs roms based off a stock Samsung rom. Aosp and cm will not install or run.

Thanks for the reply! So if I stick to TouchWiz based custom roms I can downgrade without bricking my phone?
Yes, just don't touch the bootloader or modem.

Ok thanks. Can you suggest a good 4.2 ROM? Also, since I'm already rooted with safestrap, do I just wipe and flash the new ROM or do I need to install a different version of safestrap and kernal etc? I'm have trouble finding any instructions on how to downgrade. I appreciate all your help!
I can't recommend any 4.2 roms as I don't have the phone. Also, I don't think such an old rom will work on an lp modem and bootloader.

Ok so based on your statement "I don't think such an old rom will work on a lp modem and bootloader," does that mean you actually don't think I can downgrade?
You can try but I don't think you will have a functioning phone in that the imei will not be properly displayed which means the phone wouldn't be able to connect to the carrier.

Hi guys!
My dad has been using the above mentioned device for the past 5.5 years. The device is running a stock rooted 4.2.2 MDJ build. His bank is about to stop the support for the 4.2.2 version so we need to update the OS. The minimum required OS is now KitKat but I would like a more moderate ROM. Is it possible to have for e.g. an Oreo based ROM without Knox? In other words, do some ROMs include a Knox bootloader (to enable them to run)?
Thanks for the help!
Only Samsung ROMs would contain Knox.
The apps should be fine with a stock 5.01 ROM if you want to stick with stock.
If you want to run a custom Oreo ROM, I suggest flashing the latest bootloader and modem before installing Oreo.

As I said I would like to evade to flash the Knox bootloader. I know Samsung made it impossible to use their OS without Knox so I'm guessing my only option is to use custom ROMs. Are there any ROMs that still utilise the old bootloader?
You can't flash any bootloader other than stock.
Knox will not interfere with flashing custom ROMs.
Some banking apps will not work with a rooted ROM so you may have to use another app to hide root.

Root is in place just to disable OTA and by the looks of it the banking app doesn't care.
Regarding Knox, I actually think of it as a security downgrade because the NSA played a part in its development and they are known to spy on people. I feel safer when it's not installed LMAO
Is the phone an sgh-i337m or sgh-i337?
The sgh-i337 was made for at&t.

It's the SGH-I337M. Canadian model. CSC is TLS (Telus)
Okay, just wanted to make sure it wasn't the att model because the 4.3 or newer bootloader is locked on the non-m version.
Anybody have any suggestions for a ROM? It doesn't necessarily need to be the latest version of Android. It just needs to be compatible with the old bootloader
If you're still on MDJ stay on MDJ, don't update your bootloader, only the modem. 4.3 don't have KNOX, just don't update from OTA.
