Glass replacement - screwed up. Quick Advice - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Bought a new lens on Amazon.com to try and fix a shattered screen. Unfortunately, the glass did not come off clear. It is tinted and what's left on the phone is gray and cracked. Now the screen will not turn on.
I realized that when trying to melt the glue and get the lens off, you need to remember that the glass is clear. So if you stick a playing card in there, make sure you can see it clearly! If you're unsure at all, I would not try this at home!
I'm not sure what I am even looking at, but I think I need a whole need LCD assembly. Bummer. Anyone want a broken one?

It's possible that too much heat was applied during the glass removal process or there that some physical damage to the LCD itself.
The replacement LCD/Digitizer/Glass/frame assemblies are not cheap, even for third-part screens from Aliexpress. The cheapest option may be to find a used s4 that has defective internals and a working display.

LCD Screen Plastic cover?

I'm looking to trade/sell my TyTN (m3100) soon for a Kaiser, its in good shape considering I've had it nearly a year, just some cosmetic damage to the case
the screen is ok too and works great but there's a few scratches on it however and a piece of dirt
hence i figured and other quick research seemed to tell me there is a screen cover atop the actual LCD screen (if that were not so the dirt would come off)
am i right in thinking there is a cover on the lcd and my lcd isn't actually scratched? is it a digitizer or something of that sort?
it seems to be on ebay for about £12/$25-not the full touchscreen

how much would i be charged roughly to have it fitted?
(i dont really want to open the device myself!!)
or is it really easy and should i just do it myself?
any info would be much appreciated
thanks for reading and thanks for the help
ALSO is this so called digitizer to be electronically coonected?

Broken plastic "lens" replaceable

So today my phone dropped on the ground flat on the ground from about hip height and after picking it up i noticed i now have a cracked screen from the top.
I'm wondering how much the plastic front lens will run about. I see some prices online for about 100-180$ and it seems like every1 is pointing to the g1 digitizer?
The touch screen features work properly with no problems at all. I'm wondering, is that whats really needed? Or is there just the plastic lens somewhere?
Don't really feel like spending around 130 bucks for accidental damage. Might awell wait for a different phone to come out .
I know you can order just the glass but I have never needed to repair the glass or LCD on a G1 or MT3G. From just looking at mine I assume you can seperate the digitizer from the LCD.

the G1 digitizer is not a "plastic lens" it's the touchscreen, which sits on top of the LCD screen. I bought a replacement digitizer for relatively cheap on Ebay. If you are going to fix it be extremely careful. I managed to break the flex cable of my LCD screen fixing the digitizer....

[Q] Replacement glass or lcd

Hi, has anyone disassembled omnia 7 screen before? May I know whether the glass and lcd are glued together and whether it is difficult to pry open the screen? (I have pried an ipod touch screen before)
*I just broke my omnia glass and thinking of getting a replacement from ebay but the lcd and glass package is too expensive (>$100) while the glass only is below $20 so I was thicking of getting the glass only.
Thanks
First of all, how the hell did you manage that - it's Gorilla Glass!
There is a tear down of the phone here
Quite complicated and delicate process unless you are familiar with doing this kind of thing.
As for the glass being connected to the digitizer, yes I think they will be stuck together with some sort of glue resin. Probably not the best idea to prise away and try and fit yourself, I suspect you'll be disappointed with a homemade attempt to stick a new pane of glass on.
I actually couldn't find the glass-only on eBay, I could only find the £80+ glass and digitizer items.
Claim it on household insurance, send it back to Samsung or save up the £80?

damaged front glass / screen

Damaged my front glass display. No bleeds or dead pixels and digitiser fully responsive.
Can the glass be replaced alone?
Been to several local repairers and they saying glass display and digitiser comes as one unit and needs to replace all which comes to about 50% cost of phone. (Would written off if it was a car).
Seen some online vids using dry ice to remove the glass then reglue a new one followed by UV light to fix glue. (Sounds like dental work).
Any experiance on this?

This was possible on earlier phones even if they have digitizer and glass together, but you would need special equipment to do this, and it was a dangerous process where the chance of damaging the whole display was huge... On the Edge phone I do not see how it would be possible, because on flat screens you needed to take a wire and put it between the glass/digitizer and be careful by removing. After that you have to glue it again with UV glue.
The special point here is that with the edge screen the chance of breaking it totally is for sure more than 90%. Also as I have heard it is not even possible to remove the display on the s7 Edge without braking it. So if you need to replace just the home button, it leads also to screen replacement.

above link is proof of concept... it can be done... also several professionals in the US offer this service. I was just a bit bamboozled why its not being offered by anyone locally.

S8 bent, screen shattered?!

Hi there,
my S8 is slightly bent due to a crash with my bike. The screen is shattered, the digitizer and the glass are broken, too.
Now's my question: does the S8 have a separate frame in which the screen/glass-set is placed or is this frame (seen as the aluminum sides on the outside) part of the screen/glass-set which will be replaced by the repair shop?
I'm asking so I'll know if the bend-problem will be fixed with the screen/glass-replacement or if they'll try to charge more for it.
thank you!

aluminum frame isn't part of screen dont worry
You can change just the screen, or some screens will come with the frame, but the latter requires you to transfer all of the components. Have a look on ifixit, search Galaxy S8 screen replacement on google and read the ifixit guide:
Use this guide to replace a cracked or broken display on your Samsung Galaxy S8.
Note: This guide instructs you to replace only the display while leaving the original frame, logic board, and battery in place. However, some replacement screens for this phone come pre-installed in a new frame (a.k.a. chassis), which requires a very different procedure—transplanting your phone's internals and installing a new battery. Make sure you have the correct part before starting this guide.
This guide involves removing the rear glass cover, you will need replacement adhesive to reattach the back cover to the phone. If your replacement screen does not come with adhesive, you will need to use tape to secure it as well.
If the frame is damaged or bent, it's important to replace it, or else the new screen may not mount correctly and can suffer damage from uneven pressure.
The process of separating the display from the frame usually destroys the display, so don't follow this guide unless you intend to replace the display.
