I'm going to straight up admit that, while EMUI does add a ton of useful tweaks and improvements to Android, not everything in it is to everybody's taste, particularly if you are a big stock Android fan.
In this guide (which was written based on Honor 7 software version B320 but probably works well on most Huawei / Honor devices), I'll take you through ways to make your device feel more like stock. Feedback is welcomed and I'll be updating this document frequently with additional info and improvements.
I am going to walk through the process from a freshly reset device, but you can of course pick out just the bits you want!
Launcher
After going through the setup wizard on your device and configuring your Play Store account, one of the first things you will likely want to do is replace the standard EMUI launcher. It's particularly non-stock feeling due to it's lack of app drawer. This is nice and easy, because the standard Android launcher is available from the Play Store.
The process
From the Play Store, ensure all currently installed apps are up to date (particularly 'Google').
From the Play Store, install 'Google Now Launcher'.
In the Settings app, select the 'Apps' option, press the Advanced button and select 'Default app settings'. In this screen you can specify the standard Launcher. Choose 'Google App'.
Press the home key and you're done, you should now have the standard launcher!
Further tips
On pre-Marshmallow devices, you may notice that third party launchers (including Google's) don't correctly make the top and bottom bars transparent. Sadly this includes my favourite launcher, Action Launcher 3. Another alternative, Nova Launcher, does have this feature however.

Icon themes
As you can see in the above images, even with a custom launcher installed, many icons (such as the Play Store) are 'customised'. These backgrounds are applied using a theme. The default Honor 7 theme is called 'Spectrum', but I've made a special version, 'Spectrum Pure' that removes these icon customisations.
The process
From this post on MoDaCo, download the 'Spectrum Pure' .hwt theme file.
Copy the .hwt file to /sdcard/HWThemes on your device (you can use the built in 'Files' app for this if needed).
Launch the 'Themes' app, select the 'Mine' tab, select 'Spectrum Pure' and press 'Apply'.
When you go back to the homescreen, your customisations should be gone! Note that some launchers need to be restarted to pick up the change, so if in doubt, reboot your device.
Third party apps
A number of third party apps are installed out of the box, thinks like '50+ free games, 'Bubble Bash', 'Dragon Mania', and Puzzle Pets. You can get rid of these if you prefer.
The process
In the 'Settings' app, select the 'Apps' option.
Select the app you would like to disable in the list and press the 'Uninstall' button.
Further tips
The Facebook and Twitter apps can be removed in the same way if you don't want to use them.
Additional Honor apps
As well as third party apps, a number of additional apps are included by Honor that have no stock Android equivalent. You can remove, in the same way as above:
Backup
Compass
Honor Club
Mirror
Smart Controller (if you remove this though, you will need to install a different app to enable IR functionality)
Vmall
WPS Office
The process
In the 'Settings' app, select the 'Apps' option.
Select the app you would like to disable in the list and press the 'Uninstall' button.
Disabling un-uninstallable apps
The above apps are all easily uninstalled, but there are also other apps that while you can't uninstall them, you can disable them. The apps you might want to disable are:
Email (if for example you are using the Gmail app instead)
HiCare
Magnifier
Notepad
Weather
The process
In the 'Settings' app, select the 'Apps' option.
Select the app you would like to disable in the list and press the 'Disable' button (this will be greyed out for system apps).
Keyboards
Out of the box the Honor 7 includes a Huawei customised version of Swype and 'Android Keyboard (AOSP)', which is a basic build of the stock Android keyboard. If you are not using Swype and you want to use the stock Keyboard, you should use the Play Store version rather than the provided build to ensure you get updated.
The process
From the Play Store, install 'Google Keyboard'.
Launch Google Keyboard and complete the setup wizard (this is important!).
In the 'Settings' app, select the 'Apps' option.
Select the 'Menu' button and the 'Show System' option.
Select 'Android Keyboard (AOSP)' and press 'Disable'.
Select 'Huawei Swype' and press 'Disable'.
Calendar
Honor have replaced the stock Calendar app with their own, however Google Calendar can be installed from the Play Store. The Honor Calendar app is not un-installable or disableable, however using adb access from a computer, there is another solution.
The process
From the Play Store, install 'Google Calendar'.
On your device, enable USB debugging by tapping on the 'Build Number' in 'Settings' -> 'About' multiple times, then from the newly visible development menu, clicking the 'USB Debugging' checkbox.
On your computer, from a command prompt / terminal, run the command 'adb shell' - accept the security prompt on your device.
Run the command 'pm hide com.android.calendar'.
You should now have only one Calendar app in your launcher, as shown below (before / after shot!).
Clock
Just as with the Calendar app above, the stock Android clock application can be downloaded and the Honor equivalent disabled using ADB.
The process
From the Play Store, install 'Google Clock'.
If you haven't already done so, on your device, enable USB debugging by tapping on the 'Build Number' in 'Settings' -> 'About' multiple times, then from the newly visible development menu, clicking the 'USB Debugging' checkbox.
On your computer, from a command prompt / terminal, run the command 'adb shell' - accept the security prompt on your device if required.
Run the command 'pm hide com.android.deskclock'.
You should now have only one Clock app in your launcher.
Messaging
If you are not a fan of the Honor Messaging app, you can download and install the Google version and, once again, remove the Honor version.
The process
From the Play Store, install 'Google Messenger'.
Launch the app and set it as your preferred handler for text messages.
Run the command 'pm hide com.android.mms'.
You should now have only one Messaging app in your launcher.
Files, Music, Recorder, Videos
Stock Android doesn't have a Files app per se, nor music, recorder or video apps. These can be removed using the same method as above.
The process
If you haven't already done so, on your device, enable USB debugging by tapping on the 'Build Number' in 'Settings' -> 'About' multiple times, then from the newly visible development menu, clicking the 'USB Debugging' checkbox.
On your computer, from a command prompt / terminal, run the command 'adb shell' - accept the security prompt on your device if required.
To remove 'Files': Run the command 'pm hide com.huawei.hidisk'.
To remove 'Music': Run the command 'pm hide com.android.mediacenter'.
To remove 'Recorder': Run the command 'pm hide com.android.soundrecorder'.
To remove 'Videos': Run the command 'pm hide com.huawei.hwvplayer'.
These applications should now have disappeared from your launcher.
Screen Lock and Torch
The Screen Lock and Torch shortcuts are currently parts of packages that can't be disabled without ill effects - these need to be removed via a custom ROM.
FM Radio
This can be removed using the 'pm hide' process, but this will remove all FM Radio functionality (there is currently no stock Android equivalent app).
Calculator
The stock Android calculator currently isn't available from the Play Store - I will post the APK here in due course.
Contacts / Dialler
The Contacts / Dialler cannot be changed to the stock Android versions at this time.
Notification pulldown / Settings app / Stock app icons / Lockscreen
The notification pulldown colours, settings app colours and icons, stock app icons and lockscreen can be modified using a custom theme. I am working on a 'Stock Android' EMUI theme that I will post here in due course. Stay tuned.
Great guide!
If you nova launcher prime, you can hide the apps without using prime
Truedialer can be used instead if normal contacts and call, but it will still use the same interface when in call
Use the material theme available in the theme part of the forum to change the look of system UI and settings, it I almost like marshmallow and lollipop(the icons)
Excellent work Paul, great guide thanks for your efforts, I may try it as you make it simple for us.
Cheers
Many Thanks Paul. On Icon Themes, may I point out that there are 2 small issues.
1. The google maps icon has its right top edges cut out
2. Folders don't have any boundaries
Would you be able to help please. I am on PLK-UL00-C675B330, the final Marshmallow version

Hi ! Thank you for this guide.
I just had one problem : the icons. I downloaded the theme and applied it on Theme App. But there's still this white background around every icon.
I'm on B320. Do you have any suggestion ?

If you're using a non stock launcher, you'll need to clear data on it to pick up the new icons.

Thank you for your quick answer.
I just wiped Google Now Launcher and Huawei Launcher cache and data, uninstalled Google Now Launcher, rebooted phone, re-applied theme (icons are okay on stock launcher) and installed Google Now Launcher again. It still doesn't work.
Which is weird is that it works on some icons.
Here's a screenshot : http://i.imgur.com/mkNpvgS.jpg
That is weird. Which ROM version?

I'm on B320.
Strange. Maybe try the r4 theme release I just uploaded.
Odd though.

Any news on this? Had the same problem on B320 - after updating to B330 same bug is still there.
EDIT:// Clearing launcher data of Google App (Not Google Now Launcher itself) fixes the problem!
path: Settings -> Apps -> Google App -> Storage -> Manage Space -> CLEAR LAUNCHER DATA (middle option)
hello all,

Hiding the drawer icon is definitely something I'm considering However I have a few ideas to improve it as well, perhaps a sort of "quick launch bar" in a row where the icon is currently located.

No problem buddy! Im trying to find more bugs and ways to make it better...Last night when I downloaded the APK and tried to install it my phone wouldn't let me cuz it said "App not installed. An existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed." The way I tried to install it was using Root Explorer and just over writing the app by installing the new APK but i guess something is going wrong with the signature cuz ive never seen this happen...so I just went to the playstore and uninstalled it from there and re-installed the new copy from there....But i still have one more issue. Whenever you install a new launcher from the play store and immediately after you click the home button the OS prompts you which launcher do you want to use..i have 3 launchers installed (Nova, Chameleon, & Tile) But the OS never prompts me which launcher do I wanna use...
UPDATE: Alright so I got it working now. Android now prompts for the launcher >>> https://docs.google.com/open?id=0Byxlw5J4qbOvZDNKY21yV282TGM
But one more bug I found is that whenver you go to the widgets in the app drawer and you drag for example Airdroid 4x1 Widget Tile Launcher crashes.
This is extremely promising... Keep this up, if you play you're cards right, you may just have the most "innovative" launcher out there

Hmm ok. Are you on ICS? Dropping widgets is still being worked on, added it to the known issues list now.
As for prompting for the launcher, it should prompt you every time you install a new launcher, strange if it didn't. It's possible to go to Apps -> Your current home launcher -> Clear defaults to make it prompt if that happens again.
I'll be returning home this weekend, hope to get a new build out soon Cheers

i love this launcher!!
here some ideas:
- make it more flexible (the user no more needs to sets numbers of colums and rows)
then:
- option to choose min tile size (width and height)
- option to choose from horizontal scrolling or vertical scrolling in home
- option to choose paginated scrolling (regardless scrolling orientation) in home
- drawer categories
- option to enable google search bar near the app drawer button
- option to replace the launcher menu in app drawer with google play shortcut (or another app)
- fix custom color (can't set a custom hex color on nexus s cm10)
add these features even in a paid version and i'll buy it
keep it on!!

Preamble:
This was designed for the full screen of the Nexus 4, so it works best with a ROM that supports full-screen mode a.k.a. PIE. It should look ok with the status- and navbar but everything might get a bit small .
Requirements:
- A custom launcher like Apex, Nova, etc. For this tutorial I'll be using Apex
- Zooper Widget Pro
- Media Utilities
- BalckUiInspirant_by_kwerdenker_2_40.zip
- Tasker, if you want the settings panel
Step 0:
Install all necessary apps (if you haven't already). Enter Media Utilities after you have installed it, go into settings and check Zooper under the "Application integration" category and Make coverart available under "Experimental features at the bottom.
Step 1:
Download the zip to your phone, extract the content and put the *.zw files into /sdcard/ZooperWidget/Templates/.
Step 2:
Go into the settings of your custom launcher. Set the grid of your homescreen to 10x6 (10 rows, 6 columns). If it's supported by your launcher, you should also hide the dock. (Bonus: In Apex under "Dock settings", check "Dock as overlay" and under "Behavior Settings" set some gesture do "Toggle dock. This way you can put your app shortcuts into the dock and show/hide it via gesture)
Step 3:
On your homescreen, long press to bring up the menu and select Wallpapers, then choose Gallery and navigate to where you've extracted the zip file to. There select the wallpaper and resize the box to cover the whole screen. Finish with "Ok".
Step 4:
Long press again to bring up the menu, select Widgets->Zooper Widget Pro->7x2. Tap on the resulting widget, select "SD card" and then choose BlackUI_Clock. If you want, you can select "Widget OnTap Action" in the next screen and choose something you want launched when the widget is tapped. Your alarm app for instance. If you are done, just exit the setup screen by pressing the back key. The clock widget should now be on your screen. If not, wait a second and it should pop up. Now position the widget where you want it to be on your screen. On my screen, it sits right in middle
Step 5:
Add another widget, this time choose BlackUI_Music. Nothing to setup here, just exit the setup screen again and put it where you want it.
Step 6:
Another widget, this time choose BlackUI_Weather. Again, not much to setup. So back to the homescreen and position it.
Step 7:
Can you guess it? Right, another widget, BlackUI_Calendar this time. Before you exit this one though, you should select "Calendar to display" and check the calendars you want to display on this widget. You can also setup an OnTap action to open your calendar application if you want.
For everyone without tasker, this is as far as you gonna get. Sorry but Zooper currently does not support changing system settings by itself. For everyone else, here are the steps for the setting panel.
Step 8:
Put the ZW_Tasks.prj.xml in /sdcard/Tasker/projects/. Open Tasker, press the home icon, tap "Import" and then select the ZW_Tasks file. This should be all you have to do in Tasker.
If you can't see the file when trying to import it, make sure you have "Beginner Mode" unchecked in the settings of Tasker. Thanks to haelmchen for finding this.
Step 9:
Add a Zooper widget (7x2, like the others), select BlackUi_Settings and exit back to your homescreen. Try the WIFI toggle and see if it works.
And that's about it. Enjoy your new homescreen and if you have any questions (or just want to show off your setup), feel free to post to this thread

On the music one?... Ah, damn. I missed a step in the tutorial! Sorry, my bad I will update it immediately. The missing step is:
Enter Media Utilities after you have installed it, go into settings and check Zooper under the "Application integration" category and Make coverart available under "Experimental features at the bottom.
Click to collapse
After that the folder icon should be replaced by the actual album art and the music info should be updated when a song is played.
Again, sorry for missing that step. I'm probably just to just to used to this setup

Also you have to be part of the Zooper beta program for the album art to correctly work. The public release with that feature is expect for this weekend.

Ok this is really strange. I double-checked and the needed resources are in the .zw files. Let me re-export and re-upload everything. First time I worked with Zooper, might have done something wrong on my end.

I checked the beta group for pointers and it seems I didn't read an important bullet-point on the last beta version announcement Basically because of some changes in handling of bitmaps, *all* templates created with the beta version are not compatible with the current market version. You'll have to wait until version 2.40 is released in the next two days.
I'll put a note next to the download until that happens. Sorry for the inconvenience.
You can´t add a 7x2 widget on a screen with only 6 columns.
How do I import this data into Tasker? Ok I fond the import button. But then i cant find the xml file. The folder where it should be, is empty

On launchers like Apex or Nova that should work. Alternatively, since these widgets cover the whole width anyway you could just increase the column count to 7. Makes no difference for the widgets

Did you copy it to the folder mentioned in the step? I sometimes had problems importing stuff in Tasker from other folders than it's own.
Did everything like you said in OP.

Hmm... then I'm currently out of ideas to be honest. When I long-press the home icon in the lower-left corner and choose import, the file is there like it's supposed to. Does the file still has the .prj.xml file extension?
I managed it now. All I had to do was turning of the Beginners Mode. Then instantly it found the xml file

Great find! Will add this to the tutorial :good:
When the settings widget is finished, will it be possible to change some switches, e.g. sync to bluetooth?
edit: in your mycolorscreen profile you wrote you were using PA 3.96. Just to get any confusion out of the way, i´m sure you meant 3.69
Good Morning
Can this also work on a SGS 3? i tried to copy the BlackUiInspirant zip on the sd card but the b***ch wont let me also on my phone. Any Ideas?
Hello everyone, i recently installed BlissPop ROM on my D-802.
I was wondering:
1) Can i remove the "Get now cards" ?
2) Can i use smaller icons like the others on bottom tray ?
Image URL: s21.postimg.org/anycthrp3/Screenshot_2015_10_29_11_44_34.png
Futhermore, were could i find stock apps like Dialer and Contacts ? Most of them listed on "G2 THEMES AND APPS" have broken links.
Hi,
1. I'm assuming that's a widget, if so, you can just long-press it and throw it to the "Remove" / "Delete" option that pops up.
2. If you're using Nova launcher, witch I guess you're using, you can go to Nova settings--> Desktop--> Icon layout and from there you can adjust the size of the icons in the desktop.
Edit: Oh and about the stock apps, here's a link to some stock lollipop apps
http://www.idroidspace.com/download-android-5-lollipop-stock-apps/
Nearly all the stock lollipop apps are there, however if you want the messenger app then just search for it at the play store, Google already published it there.
But if you meant stock LG apps, then I don't believe there is a way to use stock LG apps in an Aosp ROM such as Cyanogenmod/blisspop/AICP etc...
Have fun!

Thank for your reply!
1) This is not a widget. That's why i am asking if there any way to remove it.
2) I am using the launcher which come with BlissPop ROM. Should i use Nova instead ?
I was searching for stock LG Contacts and Dialer apps because i prefer them than Google's.
I prefer LG apps over the stock as well, but sadly, I did not manage to make them work in the BlissPop ROM.
And I recommend you to use a different launcher, as he said, Nova would suffice. But I personally preffer Apex Launcher, it just fits my style a bit more. Any of these two should be able to handle your situation anyway.

Yes, use Nova or Apex or whatever launcher you want, I prefer Nova. I've used so many launcher in the past but nothing could beat Nova IMO.
Even though I'm recommending Nova, witch will, by using it, remove that ugly "Get now cards" thingy, I'm gonna have to ask you to tell me what happens when you long press that thing? Does it say anything? Does it let you view "app info" or let you know what app that is?
And for the stock apps, I searched and tried some but none worked (as expected). That's why some people choose to stay with stock systems because of these apps. Personally I've gotten over that ;D

You can set up task manager in your status bar, it should be in the blisspop settings, under status bar OR under the quick settings menu.
It will add a buttom for the task manager to your quick settings, see for yourself

A screenshot or something ? I can not find this option :/
Sure, Settings - Bliss interface - Notification drawer - Task manager.
When you turn that on, an icon will appear in your quicksettings (when you slide down notification bar completely, it will be next to the settings shortcut and battery shortcut).

You are awesome man! Thank you very much!
I installed Pixel 2 Launcher.apk as default Home app. But when I reboot phone, I need manully set Pixel Launcher as default Home app, otherwise Home app will still be Launcher3.
How can I disable or delete Launcher3? Where is Launcher3 app in system?
Even I am using pixel launcher but I am not facing any such issues. If you have not already done, go to settings --> apps --> click gear icon(top right) --> under 'home' select ''pixel launcher'.
P.S : I am using pixel launcher v1.7

If your device is rooted just uninstall the default launcher using 'System App remover (root)' app. If your device is not rooted try to install third party launcher preferably 'Nova Launcher' and reboot, then set pixel launcher as default( As specified in my previous post). I am not sure whether this works. But initially I installed nova launcher and then later pixel. Hope it works.

I advise you not to uninstall any of the system apps because you might have extra problems with installing OTA update. You should only freeze system apps, so they are not active, nor visible
Thanks Ved K's suggestion. I install 'System App Remover' app and find Launcher3.apk's path. Rename this apk, so I get Pixel 2 Launcher as my default Home app when I reboot system everytime.
The next I want solve is set Live Wallpapers - Your world, Solar System as my default Home screen when reboot.

using the same launcher, not having such issue here
I'm using Microsoft Launcher and I don't find any issues keeping it as default launcher.
I just selected (ALWAYS) When asked Just once/always while touching home button.
I have MiA1.
Another alternate is to reset DEFAULTS in settings menu from the LAUNCHER3 APP.
There is no way to freeze Launcher3 if device is not rooted.
You can neither disable nor uninstall default launcher and imo! After playing with ADB tools for years and switching/flashing multiple/heavy OSs in my various devices I find rooting a waste. It makes your device vulnerable (not talking about security, talking about performance) and you eventually miss the future updates that feels miserable (flashing them is time taking, not for worthy people as every worthy individual is busy person).
I am using AIO launcher and almost evrrytime I launch a new app from it's shortcuts on home screen it comes up with a pop up asking for permission to launch the app I want. "Allow AIO Launcher to open...xxxx.". With options Deny and Allow.
The dev and I think this is a MIUI10 thing. I have given almost all permissions to AIO launcher (except making call and sms) but I still get this prompt.
Any idea where I should change settings?
Thanks in advance.
I'm using Nova launcher and there was just an option to use launcher every time.
Go to settings -> permissions...
If not AIO should have it's own settings

There are permissions and there are "other permissions" (dont ask. smh). Go to manage apps in settings and search for AIO launcher and tap it, scroll down and youll see "App permissions", and "Other permissions" . Make sure that all permissions under "Other permissions" are marked Accept and see if it works
You will need to check which permissions MIUI launcher app has and replicated to your launcher, I recall there is a Default App/Action (I'm not sure) that allow you assign which app will be the default for certain things, like you can use Chrome as default web browser.
