Changin from China to Euro FW - One (M9+) General

Hello
Please bear with me if this is a stupid question and kindly point me to the relavant thread.
I'm living in China and can only buy those crippled Android devices here (No Google, no PlayStore, no DropBox, to much ....)
However, I need to replace my M7 and don't want to fly to Europa just to buy new phone. Will the following work?
- Buy a new M9+ HTCM9PT(M9+) here in China
- Change CID for example to HTC__102
- Flash Stock ROM (Can someone point me to one if above will work please?)
Important is that I will end-up with a stock firmware and that OTA will work in the future.

My friend. I've bought my M9+ in China. if you just want to install the Google Package on this mobile, it is quite simple. No need even to root, you won't avoid your warranty. Is that what you want to do? It looks you just want to have the Google Package.

Thanks for your answer. Did the this with another HTC phone. Unfortunately its not the same at all. Even if you install PlayStore and later other missing apps a lot of servies won't let you store information on DropBox (like HTC Backup for example) but only in Baidu cloud. I couldn't even restore my backups from DropBox because it was, even when installed, was not selectable. At the end the system still is a crippled Android but with a Google PlayStore. BlinkFeed was missing features, Camera Upload always had issues, ...
Thus, my only chance is to either replace completely or buy a phone in europe/HKK directly.

You can do what I did (see this thread). Hope it helps answer some more of your questions.

I will try to change CID first. Anyone can point me to correct EUR FW for HTC9PW?

I finally found some time over the weekend. Firstly, just installing PlayStore and later other apps does not make the phone in any way similar to a real Android phone bought elsewhere
DropBox, even if installed and connected, can't be selected to restore HTC backups
Error messages in this round grey overlay box will, no matter which language you select, be in Chinese
A lot of APPs will think you're Chinese because the phone is originally a Chinese phone
Some of the APPs can't be disabled
If you swipe over the HTC Logo there will be a program called "Hidi" or "Heidi" started and not Google. The voice recognition of this program is rather bad. My Chinese friends and me had a lot of fun with it
I therefore decided to invest the 25USD and go the real way. I, S-OFF, changed CID and installed 1.8 EUR version which, after putting S-On again, now runs very good since a couple of days. OTA update to 1.9 worked perfectly!
Thanks to all for their suggestions!

hi, just got this phone for my son. wanted to update to android 2.1, had to jump thru hoops just to get to the update service. tried to download and install back and restore on the phone no go. it wont allow me to install other than market place. its stupid that this app is not already installed. is there another app i could use to backup the phone before updating? thanks. btw, sonyericson's site really sucks!!!
So you posted a thread just to tell us this?
I'm curious, what kind of hoops did you have to jump through to get the update service? It's rather easy to download the Update Service app via their website. Actually, I've found Sony Ericsson's website one of the easiest to navigate. The Backup & Restore application COMES preinstalled with the phone, atleast that's how it was when I got mine with 1.6.
*sigh*

Hello,
There are lots of backup apps on the market, I also did manage to search and download the backup and restore apk from the web. Haven't had any probs with x10 especially updating.
Ben.

Are you in the US by any chance? If so, you won't find 2.1
And market should already be installed - you probably did something wrong during the update process
You must be on At&t, right? My At&t x10 didn't have backup and restore installed on 1.6 and no 3rd party apps either.
Are you in the US, then? Hope you don't plan on updating with SEUS... We will NEVER get it here
You can get past the install block by using Sideload Wonder Machine- 2nd post HERE, linked you to the thread to cover common problems...
Or just search backup in the market and find another app...
And then once you backup you can flash to 2.1 with Androxyde & Bin4ry's flash tool. use x10a generic build 2.1.A.0.435
the phone kind of sucks as it is when you buy it. especially from at&t. as i did.
but once u get into things on this site the phone is completely awesome.
and does not need any more bashing lol
we are more than happy with out modded x10's.
sorry
hi, sorry i forgot to say it is an at&t phone. i have sideload 1.0, i copied backup and restore to my hard drive, tried to load it with swm, but would not allow access. i'll try market place and use a different backup app.
root and use titanium backup

First, if you just got it then there shouldn't be much to backup. Update to 2.1 and treat it like a new phone. Second, if you got it from AT&T your X10 is branded AT&T meaning they have put all sorts of restrictions and blocks on your phone. The one you are dealing with now is blocked access to non approved apps. Basically AT&T has pay services that they want to force you to use.
You need to forget about SEUS or PC Companion for now. You need to use the X10 Flash Tool 2.6 and flash x10a global generic firmware 2.1.A.0.435 found here on xda. This will debrand your phone lifting non-market app restrictions (you still have to check "allow non-market apps" in settings / applications). This will also give you the latest 2.1 update, including dualtouch. You can also use the flash tool to root your phone, giving you even more control to modify your system and remove the preinstalled junk apps you don't use that slow down your device.

Can't access Market and phone is not rooted .. must i root? and should i?

hi,
i brought a HTC DHD from london (Virgin, unlocked) a couple of weeks ago, and im in sudan...and as you've probably guessed, the Android Market is blocked here. The app opens and says "loading" then it closes (goes back to the 'All Apps' menu).
i want to download from the market, and everywhere i go, people tell me to 'root', obviously im new to this concept.
i've read some threads here on this website, but it looks like its a long process, and the "IF ANYTHING HAPPENS ITS NOT OUR FAULT" warning scares me badly.
i want a way to access the market without rooting.
and if there isnt, and rooting is the only way, then what exactly is rooting?
will the way everything works change?
will all my installed apps get deleted?
is the interface different? ( no HTC SENSE?)
and when 2.3 comes out, what do i have to do to upgrade?
NOTE:::
android version -> 2.2.1
baseband version -> 12.2xx...
software number 1.7xxxx
can anyone help?
1. your friends ask you to root is to enable you to use 2 important apps, a. Market enabler, and b. Market enabler codes. Both apps are available in Android market but requires you to root.
2. Rooting, its a process hacking your phone to gain the superuser access where it is not available on stock ROM ( ROM in a sense is the operating software for DHD).
3. Rooting does not remove installed apps. It only 'unlocks' the phone.
4. Rooting enables you to switch ROMs (exp, Android Revolution HD, Cynogen, LeeDroid..). Each ROM offers difference experience in user interface and performance (processing speed aonpd battery life). Users usually find which suits them best and difference regions have different performance albeit similar ROM+kernal+radio (to devs, correct me if I'm wrong here). Some ROM state 'no sense' included which means no HTC Sense is included.
check your email address/ account is correct it stopped my other halfs accessing the market until i changed it.
So now I've rooted my phone successfully and I downloaded market access and market enabler.
But still, I can't open the market.
Is it because my sim card is in the phone?
The main reason for me rooting was to open the market, but I still can't
Alright. From the copy any sim codes of your choosing from market enabler codes, then past.the codes into the market enabler app. Hit apply. Then access the market. You should be alright.
Just download Applanet and use that. Its got tons of free and paid apps and no regional restrictions.

Uninstall it and reinstall the new apk from the site (it will not just update version from the phone)
Oppps, I double posted.
k, i'll try, and tell you what happens

ACER 500A, flashed with HoneyVillain_1.2, unable to download apps

So I have my new Acer 500A and it is flashed, now I want to actually install apps on it, but every app I try to download says "Error Processing Purchase".
Now I did search and they said remove the cache for market, delete my account and then add them back, I did this, but still same issue.
Next I tried purchasing through the web and then installing this works, but is not acceptable, obviously.
Currently I seem to have a small door stop (which it is bad at as it is too thin ). What I want is to be able to install apps any app from the market (you know how it is suppose to work), since until this is fixed I will not/can not do anything with the device, I am looking for a solution. If the solution is a different ROM (or what ever else). I do not care as I have nothing into the device yet, heck I can not install any apps.
Oh, and yes I flush all the caches, I've been doing it it Android devices for some time now and know the plan when changing ROMS.
Thanks,
ERIC
No offense intended, but if you post questions regarding the ROM you're using in it's original thread you're more likely to not only getting a quicker response, but if the ROM author is decent, he'll answer your question himself/herself.
Just in case you get lost and can't find that thread, here it is for you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138115
I found updating to the newest Market, 3.3.11 does work, the older version which remains installed does not work still. This solution seems acceptable for now.
ERIC
ok this is a really easy fix go to this site and update the market to the new version i had the same problem but this is going to fix!
i cant post outsite links sorry bro coz im a "NOOB" but go to google and just type update android market and its the 4th link down
scroll down and download the apk file that updates the maket and install it and that should fix it

care to answer some questions for a newbie?

recently i flashed overcome's p7500 rom and i like it a lot. i didn't know anything about kies before that, and after flashing i couldn't get my device recognized by kies.
1- is this because my csc changed when i flashed a custom rom?
2- does my csc change when i flash a custom rom?
i dont give **** about warranty etc. i just want the best for my device. so i'll probably update my device everytime overcome relaeses an updated rom.
3- so, am i missing anything by not using kies?
4- i'm from turkey and paid apps are not availible in market for my country. does changing csc will make them availible?
5- does changing csc will benefit me in any way other than the paid app problem?
6- can you offer any modifications (besides pershoot's or riego's kernel)
also many thanks to all developers in this forum, i was hating my device before i met you guys. keep up the good work.
bump! nothing? cmon guys someone got to know answers to these. i also want to add that:
7- Are apps stored in root directory or sd card section which doesnt effect from wipe?
3. Nothing AFAIK. I haven't used it till now.
6. You can try out the Touchscreen sensitivity solution in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1336464
7. If you are wiping from Stock Recovery then everything including sdcard partition will be wiped.
If you are wiping from CWM Recovery then only data and cache partition will be wiped. sdcard partition will be intact.
I don't know rest of the answers as i own a wifi tab and Market is available here
Yes i have tried that touchscreen app but i didnt notice any difference tbh. I didnt have any sensitivtity issues tough maybe it's an issue on wifi tabs
Its very visible when you draw something like while using pen memo

1. Kies reckognises only stock ROM's. Overcome is modded.
2. Usualy yes. If you use multiCSC then you have 1st rom on the list installed. (experience from my SGS and zillion of flashing)
3. No, nothing at all. It's "%&#@%$£" anyway.
4. No need. Root device, use Market enabler from market, fake provider to T-mobile and that is it. But only if your country is on google checkout list. If it is not, your credit card will not be accepted.
5. On SGS I haven't notice any significant changes.
6. No. I have P1010 and I think I'll get me one P7510, so I don't know the device yet. For now I can't suggest nothing.
7. Answered. But warning, if you change CSC all settings are going to stock. Including apps.

thanks for your clear response. turkey is on the google checkout list, in fact i've been using it since last year. i tried market enabler before, i faked my provider to T-mobile as you said and finally i could access US market but still it didn't allow me to purchase anything although i purchased many software from google in past
I allso have problem with my P1010 (wifi only). I can't search or download anything. But I can buy whatever I want for my SGS (weird). So I buy and download to phone and transfer it to tab.

Do you have an android phone? Use market enabler on there to purchase your apps. They should then be available to you when you click 'my apps' in market (listed at the bottom under heading installed apps) from your tab. Install from there.

Phone Hacked with Spyware Remotely ?

Hi,
My brother has been told by an associate, that he has hacked his phone and can track and hear everything he does and did it remotely.
Also said the App is undetectable.
His phone is a rooted Note 3 and his wife has a non rooted Galaxy S5.
Now, I have told him there is no way for for somebody to remotely install any app on your phone even if it is rooted, unless it is already compromised and or unless they have your Google account and password, which i am not 100% sure that would allow you to install anything either.
So my question is, if he flashes an original rom and creates a new Google account, can he feel safe that his phone can't have malicious apps installed with out his knowledge ?
I would assume a factory reset wouldn't be enough to get rid of an app installed as a system app ?
Is there any programs he could install to check for malicious apps.
I think my brother is just being overly paranoid and this guy is a ****
Help greatly appreciated.
Hopefully this is the right thread / board, if not please move to the correct thread please mods.

I would say, scan with an antivirus like avast and see what can come up, and to your question, if he flashes the stock rom, everything which has been installed as a system app will get removed, also if your phone is rooted , avast has a function which is called firewall, in that you can control the internet connectivity of all the user/system app. I use it to block internet access to systems which in my view do not need any connectivity to run. Its very easy to do also. ask him to change his goole password and also user 2 factor authentication on google.
Sounds like someone's been watching a bit too much Person of Interest...
Do such 'apps' exist? Yes. Are they publicly available? Hell no.
I dont think theres a software like that in public. Thats a lot of money to be earned "IF" ever and theres laws to break.
Just do a factory reset from recovery or a better solution is to upgrade your firmware to the newest build from samfirmware
Factory reset won't delete system apps.
The least you can do is flash stock ROM using Odin to fulfill your brother's OCD.
Thanks guys, will put my mind at rest and hopefully his.

1- Yes. And no need to create a new account, just change the password of the current account.
2- Yes, in some (rare) cases.
3- I'm not sure. You can try some antivirus apps or security apps on the Play Store. But in general, you can check yourself by finding apps that have the following permissions: READ SMS + RECORD AUDIO + FULL INTERNET ACCESS... Try to eliminate well-known safe apps, plus some experiences and some helps from the other, you can identify these malicious apps.
