If he's on OC4, then he can Odin back to NCG and root from there and flash any VZW S5 TouchWiz ROM that he'd like. Following the OP's instructions of course. I got this S5 on the OC4 version and haven't "officially" updated to newer versions yet. Just update the proper "flashable" firmware as needed for the ROM I'm running
I'm not sure but the new root method that JrKrsue has developed is for one's that are on OE1 and up. Due to those were the one's that were unable to gain root. I could be wrong but if you're on OD5 and below, you can get root by Odin back to NCG. Please feel free to chime in if I'm wrong or mistaken

I have used jrkruse method to root Boc4 also there are two different methods now for rooting as I will never go beyond bod5 on the bootloader so I will always have the choice to go back to 100% kit kat witch includes kit kat bootloader

[Q] Upgrading from 4.2 to 4.4

My Google powers are wearing out, so I figure I will ask directly.
I am currently rooted, running the stock ROM on my L720. The android version is 4.2.2 and the build is JDQ39.L720VPUAMDL. I want to upgrade to 4.4, but I want to either keep it rooted or be able to reroot the phone.
Currently I can turn on my Hotspot with no additional app. I want to be able to continue using my phone as a HS. This is essential. A functionality my phone doesn't have is the ability to move apps to SD.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. (And I'm sure this question is asked a thousand times a day, but google and search are failing me ) Thank you so much!
Odin NAE tar, root, flash hotspot mod. Done.

Also this will give you Knox. If you don't want Knox there is a thread to keep your older bootlaoder

Is this like Sprint's android version of herpes?
I admit that I am a bit confused. Do I need to unroot my phone before I do this? I hate asking for help, but I really don't want to screw up my hotspot

Hahah it can be compared to that , although I swear I wouldn't know.
To understand Knox, Google it and read up on it. Its just a Samsung warranty /security thing. Most of us don't care having it or tripping the Knox flag.

You don't need to unroot to Odin a tar file.

If you decide you don't want Knox, this would be the thread you want. Follow the directions correctly and you should be up and running. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277480

[Q] Help updating to 4.4

I am currently running 4.3 root SPH-L720, when I try to install the OTA update it says it fails but can work and lose root.
I want to know if go with the update it will unroot, and/or wipe phone or brick.
You have to be on a stock recovery even then it might fail if you have custom apps or mods. Best thing is to Odin NAE tar and re root.

Completely agree with Daniel, he has given excellent advice!

Just Rooted 5.0/Jasmine, now I wanna go back.

The Jasmine mod makes it so I cannot play the only game I use this phone for. How do I go about removing the Jasmine mod completely so I can return to my game? I'm downloading the OB6 stock firmware and I plan on flashing that with Odin in a minute. Will that do the trick?
Yes. But need to update to 0F1

Where is TWERP for g900vvru2dpf4?

Heya, I've been trying to root my Galaxy S5 (Verizon Marshmallow 6.0.1 g900vvru2dpf4) and the instructions I'm following say that I need TWRP (or a similar custom recovery) but, I can't find the link to TWRP for g900vvru2dpf4. If anyone can link me to it or a similar custom recovery for Samsung Galaxy S5 Verizon Marshmallow 6.0.1 that would help a lot.

Not yet. I need help with that here.
I posted answer to both your questions on the linked thread in your post

Samsung Galaxy S5 (VZW Cid 11) are there anyways of having root access or a rom?

Sorry if I am an "idiot" for this topic but is it possible to make a custom rom bootable on a locked bootload (cid 11) and flashing custom recovery?
I mean on my LG-D605 it had and still has a locked bootloaded but by "loki-fying" the boot.img it was able to boot into custom rom and it was able to boot on custom recovery

Are there anyways of having root access on stock firmware?
============================================================================================================================================
Is there a way to flash stock roms that are completely debloated? :fingers-crossed: :fingers-crossed:
Anyway thanks in advance for your help!! :highfive: :highfive:
Loki is not compatible with s5 Verizon and there is no way to boot a cm based or aosp based rom on g900v with a locked bootloader and it is possible to have root on lollipop and kitkat firmware what is your firmware currently? If your on kitkat

You can use towelroot exploit to get root on kitkat firmware and for lolipop firmware you go to ok3 root thread on xda under s5 Verizon section
