I have a note 3 sm-n900L with lolliop 5.0. After endless tries I have not been able to fix my GPS which loses connection to satellite as soon as it establishes one and navigation is not possible. I have heard that this may be a software problem and I have heard that it started with lollipop for many. I want to install a kitkat rom through twrp 2.8.6 while keeping the lollipop bootloader so that I can my lollipop rom backup easily. Is there any rom that works for sm-n900L. Please help.

I have updated my GT-I9500 (S4 Exynos version) to the official TouchWiz 5.0.1 ROM (I9500XXUHOC1), but ever since this update the phone gets heated up during usage and especially during charging (which is high than what it use to be earlier). Am getting frequent force close messages (some which were fixed with a recent OTA update) but still the experience has been horrible with the official Samsung Lollipop uddate. I have now rooted and got Philz Touch Recovery in place. All I wanted to find out is can I wipe and flash CM11 (GT-I9500 Version) on my device, will it work or will that brick the device as am directly downgrading from 5.0.1 to 4.4.2 ? Is there a specific way to do this ? Any help is very much appreciated, I need to get out of this 5.0.2 for good.
Of course it will work. downgrading only applies to official roms.
Is it possible to downgrade the N910F from Lollipop (POF2) to KitKat (ANK5)?
YES, IT IS POSSIBLE.
Before yesterday I've never used KitKat on my Note4.. When I bought the phone I had no time to try it (KitKat) because I've straight rooted it and flashed a Lollipop based ROM.
Then yesterday I wanted to try a KitKat based ROM and I've lost about 30/40min looking in the forum for the answer to the question Is it possible to downgrade the N910F from Lollipop (POF2 or whatever) to KitKat (ANK5)?
I could not find a proper answer.. there was this BOF5 bootloader can not be downgraded but it was always in a "strange contest" and it did not convinced me.. after 30/40min I said ***k *t and I just performed a full wipe from TWRP, flashed ANK5 modem and bootloader via ODIN, and installed the KitKat ROM from TWRP.
Sorry for the Question/Answer but this thread may will help someone to save time.
P.S.: My KitKat adventure lasted only 10min... It looked ugly to my eyes! Went back on POF2 and now trying out AICP

When you flashed that lollipop-based rom, that was a custom rom I assume? Did it contain a bootloader? Maybe you were still on the KitKat bootloader.

Yes, it was a custom ROM. No, it didn't contain bootloader. No, I wasn't on the KitKat bootloader, for sure my bootloader was POF2. Trust me if I tell you that before the KitKat ROM I've flashed too many Lollipop ROMs with many Lollipop bootloaders.
I'm trying to do this but i fail in every action at odin with this SW rev. check fail. device 2 binary 1 in my SM-N910C and in odin its fail... ( i gets this after recovering my phone at kies after a bootloop )

I have an s4 GT9505 with stock kitkat 4.4.2 BTU rooted.
i have an issue with the vpn working for a short while 1-2min then timing out and nothing loading. im using vpn root.
i have found that it appears to be a common issue in 4.4.2
is there a fix for this?
or do i need to flash to lollipop 5.0.1
if i flash to lollipop do i need to upgrade modem and boot loader? (seen it in one of the roms posts)
im happy enough with the stock rom can i root lollipop?
or is there a good rom without too many issues? it was too hard to workout a rom so went stock last time. and on my older phone the custom roms always had issues with something.

Please I own a SM-910H version of the Galaxy Note 4. I tried to flash the N5 ported Sixperience rom but I was experiencing a bootloop because my bootloader wasn't a lollipop 5.1.1 bootloader. I downloaded the 5.1.1 bootloader (910HXXU1COH4) and for some unknown reason I'm not able to flash via odin. It fails whenever it gets to "sboot.bi". I tried flashing the stock firmware, both lollipop 5.0.2 and 5.1.1 but they all fail when it gets to "sboot.bin". But I'm able to flash Recoveries and 910HXXU2COJ4 bootloader.
I reverted back to stock kernel and recovery and still didn't solve the problem. I tried to flash CyanogenMod 12.1 via recovery it also didn't work.
Please I need help to fix this problem because I'm afraid it might affect me in the coming months if I want to flash android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Below are the information on my phone frmware
Hi,
i want to buy a new note 4 - the version 910f.
If i update the new phone with stock 4.4.4 rom to the latest 5.1.1 - will there be any problem if i want to install root or anything like this later on? Can i still install custom roms?
I want to now this, becqause if i update my new amazon fire 7 (2015) to latest stock 5.1.1 rom - there is no chance to start recovery anymore for installing custom rom. With only 5.0.1 all is good and i can install custom rom with recovery.
Is there a similar problem with note 4 or can i install latest stock rom and won´t get any problems later?
Only thing i found is that i can´t go back to 4.4.4 when installing 5.1.1? And i can´t go back to 5 when i´m installaing marshmallow because of changing partitions size?
So if i go to stock 5.1.1 it doesn´t matter, because i don´t want to use 4.4.4 and i can still use all stock roms and change to marshmallow later?

No problem if you don't plan to use 4.4.4. Note that if you update to latest 5.1.1
>your bootloader will be locked you can't go back to previous roms or use custom roms which are based on earlier versions such as 4.4.4 custom roms or 5.0.1 custom roms.
>you can still root your phone install custom recovery and install custom roms which have newer bootloaders. However rooting 5.1.1 is bit different because with android 5.1.1 there is an extra security layer in the kernel which detects and stops device from being rooted you need a "permissive kernel" to root 5.1.1. And then you can do whatever you like.
Would it be a better decision to stay on 5.0.1 for the moment and later install 5.1.1 custom rom? To not loose unlocked bootloader?
And one more question: if I deactivate bloatware in application setting off stock rom, is bloatware complete deactivated or is it still running in the background somehow?

You can install 5.1.1 with these bootloaders coj3, coi3, pok1 , coh4 these are safe and won't lock your bootloader. i'd recommend 5.1.1 over 5.0.1 because the difference is day and night in long term use (when u have many apps) 5.1.1 is much smoother and better battery life just don't install coj5 or newer bootloaders. I don't use custom roms because in my experience stock rom is the best custom roms have some bugs etc. If you deactivate bloatware in application settings then its no more running in background.
OK, thank you. But so I should deactivate ota updates and flash latest stock update with Odin, so that I don't get latest locked bootloader?
How can i update to latest 5.1.1 update and keeping the (old) unlocked bootloader?
Do i have to donwload version from smamobile and flash with odin? How can i disallow to update bootloader too?
And if i update with ota - i will get latest (locked) bootlader automatically - no chance anymore to remove it?
-----------------------------
I don´t want to root my phone the first time (because of knox) but later on i maybe want to root too.

There is no way to be sure if the older bootloader will work with latest 5.1.1 rom. So its better to stick with the bootloader which comes with the rom and yes if you update with OTA you will get latest 5.1.1 and bootloader automatically. Just go to sammobile and download 5.1.1 with COJ3, COi3, or POK1 (nordic countries). and Flash with odin.
