[Q] ROM Toolbox

Okay, so. finally I have a rom that runs absolutely fantastic. (Dorimanx, in case it matters with this issue)
But I did not like the status bar/icons in the status bar.
A friend told me to use the rom toolbox, so I did.
with the toolbox I installed ICS Green skin by Chuck Norris.
It all went fine, so I decided to install another skin. It worked fine. however, I didn't really like it. So I reverted to the old.
During the reverting, titanium backup crashed. I'm not sure how that screws up the process. but It did. (even though I had already made a backup from the very first skin I installed)
now, after this crash. my wallpaper changed back to default. and the icons were in fact stock. BUT
I now can not change the icons any longer. they just stay stock no matter which one I install. Anyone know why this is?
Edit:
I also noticed my accounts on my phone (Google, facebook, whatsapp. the whole lot.)
were deleted along with the wallpaper thing.
I just resigned the accounts. and suddenly the icons changed to the ICS Blue skin..
I wanted green back, but hey. at least it did something. LOL.
Still, anyone know what caused this?
Like an SD card fail or something?

[Q] CM 11 change cursor icon

Hello people, I have now completely moved to CM11 on the Note 3 and I'm not looking back. It's brilliant. There are issues like battery life and audio and so on but I expect these issues to be sorted out in the next few weeks. Anyways the thing that grinds my gears the most about CM11 on the N3 is the hovering cursor. I want a visual indicator of where the stylus is, and on the Samsung ROMs it's perfect, however on CM the big black cursor does not look that great. I was wondering if someone with greater knowledge than me could help with this.
cm-11-20140126-NIGHTLY-hltexx\system\framework\framework-res\res\drawable-xxhdpi
'framework-res' is an apk file, that I extracted with 7zip
My idea is to extract the APK file above, and just replace the cursor icon with something smaller or more like the one on Samsung ROMS, then 'remake' (dunno if you compile/compress it) it into a apk, flash this to the device. Would this work or not?
I have attached the two /png images found in the folder above, which I pulled out of the latest CM11 nightly. The basic idea is to replace the cursor with the other icon.
If this is not possible, is there another way to do it? Xposed modules are able to replace battery icons and all sorts of other things. Can the cursor be replaced that way?

Hi there! Looking to do the same... No luck so far. I try with other .png but i always got boot loop. Lets wait for some real dev to help us!

LiquidSmooth is now on the obake!!!

here is the link to the downloads. i did not create it but found out when i was downloading repo for it.
http://liquidsmooth.net/?page_id=211
i'm sure they will be adding a main thread but until then here is a gateway. have at it. it is in NIGHTLY folder.
Liquid Smooth 3-9-15 Nightly Build
Once I saw that there are official LS build for obake I had to give it a try. So far it seems to be working well, I haven't dug into it and tried everything yet but the basics are working. They do have their own performance / kernel tweaker built in and many of the usual LS options are making their way back.
One interesting thing is they do not use the CM12 theme engine, they are using 'Layers' for theming. I remember reading something about this a while back but don't know much about it. I have tried it out, there are some themes available that work with it but not as many as there are for the CM theme engine. When you download a layers theme either from Google play, XDA or the theme forum, they are 'usually' saved to a folder called 'overlays' that you access and install from the layers option in the system menu.
From what I have read about layers so far, it is supposed to be based on native android code rather than what CM did when they built their theme engine.
I played with it for a while and the themes I tried were not quite as 'polished' as the ones for the CM theme engine. But, one thing I did like was that, if you like the theme but say just one or two apps did not look right like the play store or keyboard, you could delete just the overlay for those apps and keep the rest of the theme.
***Edit*** It is not quite ready to use. The phone was not working, calls would come in and go out but there was no audio. There were a few other bugs but that was the big one.
Liquid Smooth 2-22-15 Nightly Build
I thought I would try the 2-22-25 build and I'm glad I did, it works. I could make and receive calls and the audio worked. Also, this version has the CM12 theme engine. I also noticed that LS includes the normal 'SU' for super user / root access.
I will be keeping this one and backing it up.

Coild You post some screenshots of system? E.g. settings, lock screen, navigation bar etc.
Is LS compatible with my Moto Droid Ultra XT1080? And if so, which download is it? I'm still having trouble rooting this dam thing ever since I took the update

Rooting should not be that hard to do, the method here has been greatly improved recently (1 or 2 weeks ago)
The actual flashing takes only about 30 minutes now.
However it does not unlock the bootloader which i assume is needed for this LS rom.

Looking for a really good Galaxy S5 Rom

Some background on my focus on romes. I want to choose one that I intend to stick with from the start, that supports people who love powerful, technological design and functionality for things, like how i got a new rom after being unrooted and unflashed for years with this phone, because my provider had decided I didn't need Advanced Security settings, and so I had no access to a Smart Lockscreen that I wanted to try out. I like having the ability to configure my ui as I see fit. I've been using LineageOS, but it recently got broken when I tried to uninstall substratum, and discovered it had never created an overlays.xml file, and that the recovery zips substratum provided didn't work, leaving me in a permanent bootloop that not even reflashing lineage fixed.
I was massively interested in AllianRom because of the pitch:
"AllianceROM intends to give the user what THEY want. Tired of flashing Roms and having to ask for little changes to suit your taste? Tired of having to manually change colors of the toggles or the battery or move your clock or make statusbar transparent or any of the other multitude of other little color and style tweaks that Android users love? Tired of flashing AROMA installer for every little change you want to make? Tired of having to add your favourite images everytime a new rom comes out?"
However, that one is discontinued, and it sounds like there were extensive steps that needed to be taken to keep things like GPS from being broken. Is there a rom that compares to this one? I value very "techie" roms that give the users the option to change the design of things like the status bar, windows, whatever, and are geared towards the functionality of phones.
Try the latest Resurrection Remix that just came out with 7.1.2. It is well maintained and has the most adjustments the user can utilize.

Synergy One UI theme compiler and Hex Installer

Has anyone tested Synergy? I want to buy it as it supports One UI but I am not sure how well it supports the A20.
A lot of times, One UI functions like Good Lock(multitasking module) have bugs on the A20. Themeing might also have UI breaking bugs and I don't want to waste money on the apps only to find out that they don't work!?
Hex Installer too and it's plugins. Has anyone tried it?
I would greatly appreciate a review of both.
So, I caved in and, bought Synergy.
Here is my review.
It works for Swift Black and Flux themes. The only bug is the white notifications that can't be fixed although there is always an option in the themes that claims that it will solve the white notifications.
My fun was cut short by Liv Dark.
While trying to apply the theme, my phone went into a bootloop. Mark you, I am not rooted so I couldn't go to the custom bootloader and delete it! I had to factory reset my phone, loosing all my app data in the process! I managed to save my user files while on Safe Mode.
Funny thing is that Safe Mode wouldn't allow me to delete the offending apps. Third party apps are not listed on Safe Mode.
I advice people who want to use it to be rooted! A bootloader with a file manager is a must!
Otherwise, your phone might just bootloop randomly like mine!
I reinstalled Synergy! I tried the Swift Black theme.
This time round, I decided to theme only 3rd party apps abd avoid major system apps.
Here are the screenshots
I got the normal YouTube, Whatsapp, Chrome and Gmail to be OLED black.
I can't seem to get rid of the white notifications though. I haven't found a fix. The only fix I got is a system overlay tweak on a theme that caused my phone to bootloop!
Synergy was updated. They insist on a lot of reboots. After every big step (build theme), it requires a phone reboot. This way, bootloops are not an issue. I haven't got any bootloops since then. It is adequately safe now even without root.
Swift black theme/Synergy also fixed the White notifications. It works perfectly now.
I think Hex installer does more than Synergy. I will buy it one day and try it as it can change ui elements.
