Unable to flash any rom but stock OxygenOS rom through TWRP - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Despite all of my efforts, I cant even flash any custom rom, including custom hydrogen and custom oxygen os, the only thing I can flash is stock Oxygen OS. Nothing works. I can flash even kernels, but not a recovery.

same problem with me i have recovery but every custom ROM is on bootloop and only OXYGENos is working

Are you sure that your storage is not encrypted ?

Nice @abhisek1994 you've created two thread (this one and this one) for the same problem, in 3 hour interval: what's the goal to this?

hydrogen os..twrp

i am using the latest hydrogen os..marshmallow...
but i can't restore previously backed up cm13 with the twrp used in installation of hydrogen os.....so i tried flashing normal twrp with fastboot....this led to not even getting to the recovery...i was stuck in the boot logo
so..i again flashed the hydrogen based twrp and tried flashing cm13 with it...but it didn't work either...
so guys...how can i use another rom..with my condition...i can't flash neither recover previous image...
help guys
Try flashing the latest community version of Oxygen OS first with the modified TWRP.
Then flash the stock recovery of Oxygen 2.1.2.
Now flash stock Oxygen 2.1.2 with the stock recovery.
Now you can flash the normal TWRP and restore CM13 image.
PS- I didn't try all these. But I think it should work.
This might help
I found a hybrid TWRP that claims to be compatible with Hydrogen. Oxygen, Vanilla Marshmallow etc., made for the OP2. Here you go.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/general/recovery-twrp-3-0-2-hybrid-supports-oos-t3362904
With that you might be able to get into recovery again and install whatever OS you like. I found this searching for the TWRP decryption problem.

Error 7 while flashing new rom

I've had many roms flashed on my op2 through twrp, but now whenever i try to flash any rom(cm, exodus, aicp etc.) I get error 7. I tried deleting asserts line on "updater-script" but no luck...

Hi, If you already have twrp recovery and you can boot into twrp recovery, then you need to download stock oxygen os 2.2.1 ota.
when you download oxygen os 2.2.1 ota, flash it via twrp recovery, after that wipe factory data reset, then you flash your custom roms later. this will bypass the error 7 and you will have to resume enjoying your custom roms.
Here's what happens, when u totally erases the system, data, and formats everything with twrp recovery, custom roms don't run again, i think they kinda need some basic files from the stock rom to enable them to run. i experienced this myself with aicp and this is how i fixed it. so go on, look for the oxygen 2.2.1 ota.zip, download, flash, then wipe data fastory reset, then you can now have your custom roms flashed and working. again.
Right!! but oos 3.0 official is also working

It's there to protect you from flashing a ROM incompatible with your current bootloader (there's two of them, pre oos3 and oos3 bootloader/fastboot).
So if you want to flash a ROM which is Lollipop (or using Lollipop bootloader like easier versions of Graraks and Seraph08s builds) you will have to restore your phone to oos2.x.x first. Same goes the other way around, and also your recovery system must be compatible with respective bootloader.
This info should be force-feeded to every noob checking in on this forum hoping for an easy swapping of ROMs on this phone, which is not gonna happen because of this.

Latest oreo roms and some problems...

When I install the latest oreo rom and recommended recovery, there are always problems
for example: error 7, Can't mount vendor, unable to mount storage...
When I install Pixel Experience and RR oreo rom, this error is happening and I can not install a different rom or another zips, using different recovery not the solution. I tried some suggestions here but the result has not changed
I installed a stock rom with QPST and problems improved
Exactly what we should do, Can you explain in detail
thanks to those who contributed :good:
Which recovery you using

Please provide specifics of ROM and TWRP Version. Did you load mods? Did you use custom kernel?
I installed this recovery for bootleggers 8.1 rom,
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673956719939820462 (twrp 3.2.1.0 It works well),
then I've installed Orangefox recovery for try and I used for long time without any problem,
later I flashed this recovery for Pixel Experience rom
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1322778262904027766 (twrp 3.2.3.0),
installed without a problem but a long time stuck in google logo, I rebooted three times a long press power button and the phone opened normally
No problem when using the phone but all times error on recovery.. such as 'vendor, invalid argument, mount error.
Always these errors during the rom installation and wiping..
Now is stock rom installed, I think there are some changes in the new rom because such problems did not happen before,
thank you for your answers and developers

Okay... I'd recommend one thing.
Install the custom ROM. Then follow flashing procedure and do read the new FAQ posted by the devs. And after that... Try to reflash the recovery.img by pressing install image option. After this... If the problem persists, try to follow the procedure again and check if your recovery image isn't corrupt. Plus don't use the recovery from TWRP.ME
I have a recovery that can solve this problem but you can't restore ROMs you backed up

I did actually try a second time, just flashed pixel experience rom and twrp 3.2.3.0 recovery on the stock rom - recovery.. same errors are happening and this problems improve only when I install stock rom with QPTS.. I will do clean installation in a short time again, just wonder why there is so much vendor error on recovery...

If you want to install latest update roms then read this FAQ:https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77872447&postcount=2325:confused:
if you want to revert to old roms then you have to flash stock nougat rom using qfil and install twrp 3.2.1.0 and install old roms
don't do it wrongly otherwise you will get updater error 7 or can't mount vendor, etc,

You should be on latest nougat that is with november security patch. All rom after 14/10/2018 should flash with latest twrp that is 3.2.3.0. all roms before that should be flashed with twrp 3.2.1.0.

The thing is with new twrp there is decryption support which was lacked in old. Vendor partition is present in both i think. All the new roms are encrypted by default

OnePlus 6t Wifi Issue on custom roms

Okay so I've tried Pixel experience, lineage os , omni rom treskmod and couple of other custom android 10 roms, all stable and official and also updated ones, the wifi just simply doesn't work, wifi hotspot won't turn on either. I've tried every solution on the internet. I've even factory reset my phone using msm download tool and no luck(did this countless times).
I'm back in OOS 10.3.2 and there's no issue apparently.
At one point , i flashed a custom rom and the wifi didn't work, so I flashed OOS in the two slots and checked , the wifi works in OOS apparently, and never in custom roms.
Has anyone got this issue before and knows a solution?
How is your installation procedure?

I flash OOS and twrp on both slots, reboot recovery,
And then flash the rom and twrp, reboot recovery, then format data and factory reset, reboot recovery, if needed for some gapps, then reboot system

That's a lot of unnecessary steps. OOS on both slots, reboot to bootloader, boot twrp, format data and flash the custom rom, reboot bootloader, boot twrp and flash gapps, don't install twrp permanently if you are not going to install Magisk.

I need magisk too, I usually permanently install twrp
Also you think it's the way I'm installing at fault here? Or the rom? Or is it something wrong with my device?

Alright so got one doubt, I used OOS 10.3.2 to flash, should it be oos 10.0 only?
Thought that didn't make a difference.
I am also facing the same issue. Were you able to find any solution ?
So I found out treskmod omni rom and Paranoid android quartz 2 work perfectly , try those out, it still doesn't solve the problem in the other roms though. So not exactly a solution.

Can't install any custom ROM. But why?

I wanted to upload a new rom to my phone (pine, 16GB), but it will never boot. Always after rebooting, TWRP will be loaded again. I'm tried multiple ROMs (LineageOS, DotOS, MokeeOS ), but the problem occurs for all rom. TWRP says, flash succed for every one system, but not booting after reboot.
I'm used twrp-3.5.0_9-20210101-pine-arm64 version. Only I can do flash a stock rom using MiFlash, but no custom rom via TWRP.
Mi device is correctly unlocked via Official Unlock Tool app.
Can you tell me why?
Thanks
Maybe try another twrp version or another completely like OrangeFox can't really tell you why i don't have as much knowledge in why or how it works but i have tried a lot on mine so this should be ur first troubleshooting step from my point of view also have you flashed the ROMs with their instructions some say the sequence you should format or wipe ur data etc...
Working for now,
The problem was that I didn't choose to Format data
