Hello,
First of all, great phone. Build quality and specs are superb, but that EMUI...is ok.
First thing i did was setup my nova launcher like i had it
http://i66.tinypic.com/333bsee.png
Now for the questions!
1. i have the GRA - L09 version which seems to be able to have Android 6.0 and EMUI 4.0 correct?
I have this http://i67.tinypic.com/20tkl1t.png
its a branded tmobile version of 5.0.1. What do i need to flash first to be able to flash 6.0? i read that you cant just flash any version and that you have to be on a certain build to be able to flash 6.0-
please, if someone could elaborate a bit more.
2, whats up with the colored status bar? i noticed it works only in some stock apps and not in playstore etc.. Is it a nova launcher problem? because it seems its system wide.. looks a bit ugly when youre used to having it. It just picks the colour of my wallpaper so if my wp is red, on whats up is red aswell, its not picking the colour of the app. any fix for this?
thanks dear p8 people

Hello. About marshmallow (6.0) there is only beta version available, so for now i really dont recommend you to install it (downgrade could be difficult if are new in huawei system files). About status bar, its known bug of system, in most apps its transparent, so it has collor like your desktop wallpaper, so we can just wait for fixed marshmallow which i hope will be released in about month. I tried beta and i can tell you its way better then current 5.0.1, so much faster, much more battery friendly ang very nice UI with no buggy status bar etc, but of course, there are some other bugs.
Hi loop!
First welcome to the Huawei universe! Hope you'll stay with us.
Now to answer your questions:
1) To update to Marshmallow & EMUI 4 (In a beta state obviously) you'll first have to debrand your device. I think some people explain how on this forum. Then you'll have to download the update files, put it in a dload folder, etc etc. Everything should be explained on the subject about this beta update.
2) You can remove this coloured status bar on EMUI 3.1 by using a live wallpaper or by making a transparent gradient on the top of your wallpaper. It'll have an 80% transparent shade however... I recommend you Every Stripes and Meter by Google. Used this two for a while and both work!
Or if you want you can download maximax's EMIUI theme. It has a wallpaper with that transparent gradient on top of it. (However it's not a material wallpaper. :/ )
Please note that in EMUI 4 the status bar won't have a blured colouration of your wallpaper. It'll be a "gradient" colouration (Just like on Kit Kat!) If you want it to change you can find a theme, open it using your favourite archive extractor, and find the status bar gradient file and make it fully transparent. (Did that with the EMIUI theme on both the navigation bar and status bar. Also made the status and navigation icons look more like stock Android. )
Hope I've been helpful to you! Have a nice day.
Hi,
I'm picking up a P8 tomorrow coming from a Galaxy S4 on Cyanogenmod and my only concern is the UI. Is there any ROMs or ways to bring the P8 closer to stock other then a launcher, I saw in a review that even with google now launcher it retained the Huawei icons. Is there any way to make these stock?
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
Under MM, it was possible to mod icons with CSCAppResource.apk, see [GUIDE] [Advanced] How to make an IconPack for Samsung Touchwiz [JellyBean].
Since Nougat, I do not find the way to make that it works.
Any idea please?
Thanks
PS : rooted phone of course.
Yep, struggling here too with nougat ...
I guess it has to do with what Samsung made with touchwiz with nougat as they re-branded the launcher as Samsung Experience. Something happened where the new version of the launcher does not pick up the apk/xml we use.
Hello
Thanks ahmed_ais for your feedback.
Hope someone could find the tip to make it back, maybe modded Touchwiz Launcher.
Does someone know if it is possible to add 3rd apps in Samsung Theme?
It seems that it only works with Samsung app ones.
It could be a solution
Found a solution !!
Hey, I just wanted to update you guys about a solution I have found: Substratum
It's a very big and deep theme engine worth checking out. I was able to theme apps icons throughout the whole system (including Touchwiz Experience launcher) without touching any apk so it's as clean as CSCAppResource approach.
Substratum can do a hell lot more of course, thanks to everyone contributed to this project. I have attached some screenshots from my setup using an icon pack found online (take a look at 3rd party apps icons)
Hello,
Can U provide us please more details how to proceed?
Thx

Yea sure ...
First of all one would need to download the substratum theme template from here. We need to pay attention to step 3 from the description of that template as this is what we will be doing. Knowing that any app should have an icon either in one or more of /res/drawable folders or one or more of /res/mipmap folders, we need to put our themed icon in that location in assets folder within the substratum them.
Let's take an example of Facebook app. The launcher icon for that app is located at: com.facebook.katana/res/mipmap-xxxhdpi-v4/icon_katana.png (and perhaps other mipmap folders as well, I didn't check). Therefore, I should include the same hierarchy in my substratum theme like this: MySubstratumTheme/app/src/main/assets/overlays/com.facebook.katana/res/mipmap-xxxhdpi-v4 and there I put the new icon with the same name icon_katana.png (the name is defined in the app's manifest file so it should be exactly the same).
Once done, we build the theme and we push and install it to the phone then proceed with Substratum app.
Hey guys, this is my 1st post so if I'm doing anything that I'm not supposed to or posting in the wrong area, please say so.
Ok, so, I used to have Android phones back in the day, since 2.2-2.3, then 4.0-4.4 and still used custom roms to update my mom's Moto G 1st Gen, from 4.4 to 7, but I manly used iPhones ever since 2012 and the easy jailbreak life made me kind of lazy - all of the process of jailbreaking and installing tweaks was very easy.
Now I'm back into the Android world with a Moto G4+ and I've already unlocked the bootloader and installed a few of the available custom roms, but none of them were actually stable enough to use in a daily basis so I got back to the stock rom.
Now I'm downloading LineageOS (that's the rom I also used to upgrade my mom's phone) and I got a few questions about it (since I can't post them on the official thread):
- can I enable the notification LED?? I can't do that in the stock rom but it worked really fine in the cypherOS rom.
- is there any option to disable the soft keys and use the fingerprint sensor as these buttons?? I mean, some kind of gesture, like the VirtualHome tweak in iOS, when a touch equals to home, a double tap to multitask etc. Just saw that the G5 will have some gestures in the FP sensor that will replace the soft keys, so a port of this feature would also be good.
- is this rom already rooted or do I have to install something else??
- is xposed working?? I actually found one article about it in the G4 but it was for MM and then I didn't find anything about it in N.
Sorry for my dumb questions, I swear I was going to read all of the official thread but when I was in the 9th page I saw that there was 294 total pages and then I gave up. :crying:
[EDIT]

imgur . com/BvDf0Uh
OK so, answering my own questions (at least a few):
- the LED is enabled by default I'm in heaven;
- THERE IS a default option to use the FP sensor as home button AND another one as to place multitask screen to show up by double pressing the home button. With this two options I am able to use the FP sensor at it's full potential (in my humble opinion) BUT as you can see in the images I am able to hide the softkeys only in a few parts of the system, it still shows up when you pull down notification center and also when you open up the keyboard. It's very annoying. I guess this question is still up.
- I think it's rooted by default thank you very much.
To your xposed question: no, there's no xposed for nougat out yet

It won't come back. If you mean a screenshot where you see "themes", then it is with substratum. Themes appears in settings after installing substratum. It has nothing to do with CMTE.

Hello,
sorry if this was asked already before, but is anyone else having problems with Huawei stock theme app? To be more precise, I've encountered problems only with 3rd party theme apps, such as this one : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=emui.en.com.S9_UX9&hl=en.
In my case, mentioned theme gets applied only partially (color and style in apps like messages and dialer are changed, but status bar icons along with navigation bar icons remain unchanged). Running stock, without root and with locked bootloader.
My model is FIG-LX1C432
Currently on version 8.0.0.170.

Hi, I'm actually a developer of a system called Pixel Platform that is based on EMUI 8.0.0 for the Huawei P Smart and this has also been a problem for me
To avoid confusion I would like to explain something
the end numbers represent different features ( higher number means newer features but not newest software released )
for example this month 8.0.0.146 was released before 8.0.0.137, but next month 8.0.0.137 could be released before 8.0.0.146 ( Huawei releases the same version every month but with newer security patches ) so even though 8.0.0.146 has newer features it is not the newest available software.
8.0.0.139 or 8.0.0.138 is where Gesture navigation was introduced but theming became broken ( started showing up around November/December so it has been around for a while existing through multiple versions )
As much as i'd like to update my software base to newer than 8.0.0.137 I can not as theming is broken on newer than 8.0.0.138/8.0.0.139
You are not alone in experiencing this and I am surprised it hasn't been reported as much

Thank you for the elaborate and quick answer.
I see, it is good to know that I am not the only one facing these problems, but yeah it sucks...
While on the topic of versions, may I ask how did you downgrade/install version 8.0.0.138?
I've tried all methods I could find, and still nothing. It is strange that hard resetting phone with dload method cannot be done, as installation aborts at 5% with an error..
Thank you for you time once again.

I have an unlocked bootloader so I can use firmware finder and Hurupdater
DLOAD method does work but it is not as simple as just using update.app like it used to be
you could message my facebook page "Livitech development" and I could walk you through installing a specific version for your phone model through DLOAD
Hello. I recently bought a 1 din flip screen android unit that looks like it's the xrross X95A8P5D.
https://www.xrross.com/mobile/xrross/car/1din/x95a8p5d/main.html
Has anyone ever had any experience with it?
My MCU is mcu_lm_2.94_3
It has 2 USB ports on the back and 2 usd cards on the front, under the faceplate...
I tried to download the stock firmware but they said that I need to pay 10 usd to unlock the zip file. So I did...I am still waiting for a response from them...
1. Where can I download the stock firmware and mcu? (For warranty reasons obviously and how to install it)
2. What other roms can I flash because the stock is rather ugly?
3. Is there a Android 8.0 or 8.1 rom with light theme in systemui like pixel phones? All android head unit roms that I stumbled upon have dark theme in settings and quick settings...
I find that light system theme is more easily readable during the day.
4. Is there a way to remap hardware buttons to my own liking?
5. Is there a more advanced diaper app than the stock one used by the most stock roms? Something that shows favourites to and can sort them by first name instead of last?
Sorry for the long post and thank all you guys in advance for any help!!
