The phone is an international GT-I9505. It was previously running 4.2.2.
The software I have chosen to upgrade is the same software I have successfully used to upgrade my other GT-I9505.
I have used the PIT File in order to get access to the recovery mode.
I have tried two different frimware, both downloaded from samfirmware.com.
The phone gets stuck @ system.img.ext4.
I have done this many times before, but this has never happened.
Please tell me exactly what details you need so I can offer you the information in order to help me figure out this mess, it's driving me crazy ....

If I don't use my laptop's USB 2.0 port, it won't even start the flashing.
To make this easier: I have read most of the basic stuff around the forum (ports, different firmware, wipes, flash pit).

As this model is not widely available public, it is hard to ask for a PIT file.
You can try to flash the N910F firmware again with the N910F PIT file.
Would you mind showing me the info (screenshots) from your device using Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app? I'm very grateful.
I flashed N910F Firmware several times before, didnt help. I cant do a screenshot because the phone stuck at the samsung logo.
is there any other way to recover the data partition ?

Did you use a correct firmware file + correct PIT file for N910F?
And did you tick the Re-Partition option?
What was the error message in the Odin? Can you post the full Odin log here?

I dont get any errors on odin, and yes, i also tick re-partition.
I currently have 2 Firmware Files for N910F but only 1 Pit File
that i could found in the whole Internet. Which Pit File do i need ?
I hope anyone can help me bringing the device back to life
Can you post full Odin log while you were flashing the firmware?
Best solution:
Go to a Samsung Service Center: they can repair your phone!
And once again: 910X (demo units) are NOT sold to public!
Thats the full Odin Log.

Yes but it is only a PhilZ Recovery Backup, i can upload it to my MEGA Account if you want it. Buildnumber is N910XXXU1ANJ2_LLK. Maybe there a some Files from me inside the ROM, please delete them immediately.
On my Demo Unit, i just flashed the Stock ROM for N910F (N910FXXU1ANJ4). Works great.

No, it is still Wifi only, you cant use cellular because live Demos dont have a IMEI.
Flash SuperSu and Flashable Busybox (attached below)
then
use adb
adb shell
mke2fs / dev/block/mmcblk0p27

Hi all, I have rooted my galaxys in the past, but I have ran into a problem with this device, I am now only getting ''firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again'', I have tried connecting to Kies, but all I get is an error message. I have tried to flash another rom, but I get error messages aswell, and I just stay stuck in the same place .
I have tried to bring my s5 to a local guy who roots and fixes phones, but he could not solve this. Now Samsung will not touch it, as I have voided the warranty.
Please can someone help me, I don't want to loose €400 of a brand new device if someone can help, I will show my appreciation in some way!! Please people, I am so desperate :crying:
Need to ask Qs in the Q&A forum

Go to Sammobile .com and download a stock ROM for your model S5
Use ODIN to flash it while the phone is in download mode
Instructions are under the download on sammobiles site

Which model S5 is it ?
Choose the correct PIT file for your exact model S5 (Example, mine is the G900F), from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52329647&postcount=2
Extract it, and add it to the PIT section in ODIN, at the same time as you add the stock ROM to ODIN, and flash them both at the same time
Not sure if this is what you have tried in kies3, but this is what worked for me before when things have gone wrong and i had nothing but a samsung paper weight:
Go into download mode and do a firmware upgrade and initialisation through kies3. You will need your serial number and model number( on the white sticker behind the battery. in kies3 go tools> firmware upgrade and initialisation, then follow the on screen steps. I used this when I soft bricked my note 2 when I had it, I personally find it's the best way to restore a samsung device.
If you have any issues, try checking for kies3 updates to ensure you have the latest drivers, and if you can get into the stock recovery on your phone, you could try doing a factory data reset and cache wipe which also sometimes helps.

The suggestion of @*Detection* will definitely work if done properly, but before doing that you can try this:
Extract the hidden.img from the firmware that you're trying to install, and rename it as hidden.img.tar, now open Odin, and load that file on AP and flash it. After turning on the phone wait around 5 minutes and it should boot up.
got the phone back from SBE (Samsung's Irish Partner) with a chip on it should i try kies3 before going with odin?

which version of ODIN do you recommend I use? thanks again!
The one in the instructions under the download on sammobiles site, I think it's 3.10.7
But you should be able to use any from 3.09 > 3.10.7
Newest generally recommended unless it fails, then try an older version
When you add a PIT file, ignore the instructions about re-partition, it needs to be ticked for PIT, it will set itself up automatically once you add the ROM and PIT

Smart switch is a toggle switch in WiFi settings, to tell the phone to switch between Data and WiFi to keep the best signal

If you are currently on a ROM that has v4 boot loader's, part of your problem may be that you are trying to flash a rom with v2, v3 bootloaders
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers Legacy app

When you try to get the device into Recovery, it will appear like it isn't doing it or looks like an "No Command" error and it can take a couple of min to actually get into Recovery.
I would boot into Recovery again, let it sit for a few min. My bet is that it will eventually get into Recovery. Once it does, do a Factory reset, and then reboot into Download Mode, open Odin connect the device to your PC and install all 4 of the items from the Stock ROM thread, don't mess with any of the settings in Odin, just populate the slots with the BL, AP, CP and CSC

OK you got bootloader v2. Try to flash some older version of MM in download mode using odin

You need to start by using the latest Odin, 3.12.3 for installing the original ROM. If you try to unlock, you need to go get the PrinceComsy version. PrinceComsy won't work for in-bricking a device, and if you have any of the stock versions of the ROM, you need the 3.12.3 version.
