Hi, I've created this thread to compare battery life between different ROMS
Post your current ROM, and your battery life ( with screen if you want )
Don't forget the poll !
S4 is a great phone but battery wise it's completely ****ty. The maximum SoT I can get is on stock TouchWiz based ROMs and that's only 3 hours.

I've seen many people with +5h SOT, maybe some useful kernel tweaks, but even with custom kernels I can't get over 2h30-3h

What? Are you sure people can get 5h+? I really doubt that man. They're probably using extended batteries or battery cases.

Yea I don't remember where I've seen it, but they got +24h with around 7-8h of SOT without charging the phone or using battery cases
I could get 50h+ battery life with 10h SOT on my LG Spirit thanks to some tweaking of Interactive governor, so I think it's possible
For me, I got 3.5-4h SoT with my mobile data turned on, both GearCM and stock-based. I'm using a Hippo 3200 mAh battery.
5h+ SoT? Possible. Don't use any mobile data, only Wi-Fi. That's it.

Got 6h30 SOT yesterday and still 40% with Lollirom and Impermium 3.4 kernel, Yankactive kernel
I watched 2 movies, I think Wi-Fi is the major battery drainer

Wow this is excellent !
But I can't live without Lollipop and Xposed
I have a battery issue : my battery drains fast from 100% to 80-75% and then it drain normally
Do you have this problem too ?
I think I'm gonna buy a 3000mah battery
I just bought powerbank, the battery of s4 is worst ever seen. ??
We should get better battery life with 2600mah, maybe a bad battery management ?

My battery drain 100-90% quickly....then it is normal.Give a Try "Repair battery life" app to fix that.
I have galaxy s4 i9505,i9500 i also had nexus 5 and xperia z1 but compared to them s4 battery life is best....i have tasted all phone with different rom and with different trick.......with nexus 5 i can get maximum 5hour sot...with z1 got maximum 4-6 hour sot.But with s4 i got 6.30 hour sot and 1% standby time per 5 hour.....whre nexus 5 and xpria z had 1-2% standby drain per hour.....
Now on my i9505 i alawys got 6h-6.40h SOT even on wifi with "kushan rom 8.0" so try this rom before changing battery.
I've already tested Kushan Rom, but battery was draining fast too
Today I installed GoldenEye Rom with OC/UC Hulk Kernel, PegasusQ governor and some undervolting : SOT is just perfect and standby AWESOME !

run the battery down to nothing, until it turns the phone off. then boot and charge it to full without using it.
if you want to go further, when it's reached 100% turn it off and charge again until it shows 100% then reboot and do the same again but leave it for 15 minutes still charging at full.
always remove the cable when turning the phone off or on !!

use synapse app and under clock your CPU to 1200 MHz and see the result
As I can see, no one can get a full day with Lollipop
Some KitKat users here who can last a day ?
I had it with Optimized CM 12.1

Just thought I'd give a quick review of Cyanogen Mod 7 battery life and performance.
Standby battery drain of about 1.5%/hr with 3G, backround data on, auto-sync on, wifi on, GPS on.
I've never obtained such great battery life on any stock rom or stock-modified rom (I've tried a few different ones over the last year or so)
The performance is also much better than any of the stock-based roms (no lags).
No need to create new topic for that information.
fan/zombie boys everywhere
aple has ones so why not android ;]
Which nightly are you using? Which kernel?
After a night my Galaxy S is always dead. I solved the problem disabling 3g connection and sync. Stock rom 2.3.3 and semaphore kernel.

Sorry to say but useless thread. Just keep the damn charger always near you and battery life wont matter.
Btw did cyanogen pay you for posting this?or........
haha I had the same thought
I used to always hear about CM7 having god-awful battery life. I don't know if people were lying or if they fixed some major bugs, but I certainly have no complaints about my phone's battery life (running CM7, of course). I get through way more than a day.

That's my current battery stats. Haven't used the phone too much the last little while, but getting over 24 hours is not uncommon—I actually very rarely see my phone last for under 24 hours, and that's usually because of 5+ hours of screen on time. For that battery, I'd say about 75 texts, 30 minutes of phone calls, and about 30-60 minutes of web browsing. Fairly light use, but nevertheless, the battery life on CM7 is nothing to complain about.
EDIT: Looks like something was causing a wakelock the last ~6-8 hours while I was asleep, causing my phone not to deep sleep. If that hadn't of happened, it would still have quite a bit more battery (when I went to bed it was 44%, so it shouldn't have dropped to 27%—it should have dropped to ~40%). This just proves my point even more: battery life on CM7 is not bad at all.
seriusly?
do you see any battery change in that period compared to one earlier ))
when it was awake on your funny screenshot it was discharging with the same when the phone was not awake acordding to that stats so no impact registered
Thanks to share that information...

Best battery life that I've seen, using cm7.1 stable.
Currently at 2 days 1hr 15 mins with 14% remaining.
Wipes the floor with friends phones on stock roms charging every night. I only switched toCM7 after darkyrom barely lasting 12 hours at times

This sounds fantastic, Cm7.1 is my next choice, on XXJVT battery life is only 12h
thats using juicedefender to activate the data connection when screen turns on, emails still push to phone straight away with gmail so it is fine for me.
WIFI seems to drain the battery a bit quicker but not enough for me to bother flashing different kernels
I saw someone who did 2 WEEKS without charging. Normal using with black wallpaper on 2g network.
seems to be even better on ics... the best i had was ~2% per 8 hours...
3G + WiFi + email max 1 day
Getting some great battery life on evervolv's ICS rom. Anyone else getting similar performance?
EDIT: Today im at 50% with 12 hours use... some tiny tower, about 20 mins of phone calls, gmail, google voice, and facebook sync

wow.. good for u.. my nexus one only last for about 15 hours.. btw, i'm using the medroidmod ics 1.4.0..
That's good. Might be a glitch though if your battery is not calibrated. I had an issue when my N1 was showing over 20% and then shut off. When I turned it back on, it showed 0% and turned itself off. Try to discharge it all the way and see it if will shut off before it hits 0%. I would do it as a precautionary measure just to make sure that your phone doesn't die unexpectedly when you need it most.
nice battery life mate
I have calibrated battery and it lasts around 12 hours with fairly good usage.
But my mobile shuts down when battery at 15 %.
Do I need to calibrate it again?

This will not help. I have calibratet again and again. I'm using the medroidmod ics 1.4.0.
My phone shuts down on 15%.
what are you guys using to calibrate for your battery? Mine used to turn off around 20-25% remaining but after I reset the battery stats its been more accurate. I get nowhere near the same amount of battery life that the OP has but I also am in a bad reception area.
I'm on the MeDroid HWA Mod and I cannot believe thatmy battery lasts for about two days now.
Do you really recalibrate or do you use the function out of your recovery, which function is busted meanwhile?!

Would like to find out about this battery calibration as well. Battery life on my N1 hasn't aged well, and I wonder if the batt's showin its age or something.
Mine isn't that good
I'm on latest MedroidMod but my battery drops fast with screen on and wifi but data off. It's like 20% each 25mins. But ICS is so sweet and cool that I don't wanna go back to the buttersmooth GB.
P/s: Which home launcher are you using/do you recommend to run on ICS?
My battery life seems to have improved slightly as well. I guess the complete redesign Google did, has done some good
wow its amazing
I'm running medroidmod remix and I'm happy when I make the day with one charge.
When my screen is on you can almost see my battery discharge.
With texice i had a huge drain (10% per hour), with medroid it was a little bit better but not nearly as good as with cm7.2RC1 now.
I've also finally updated radio to 5.08 yet.

DK ICS latest update has a really awesome battery life, as well as a very good performance. recommended ROM 100% =)

You're using HSDPA, which uses a LOT more power than WiFi. Screen brightness, animations, screen on time, signal strength, Overclocking & undervolting all affect your battery life.
Brightness at 30-40% is a good compromise,
Using WiFi rather than HSDPA/3G is also a good thing to do,
Using only some animations helps battery life,
Varying signal strength (e.g. if your phone is constantly searching and going up or down can put strain on the battery,
Overclocking can put a huge amount of stress on the battery as it has to provide the CPU with more power than normal (likewise underclocking uses less CPU power and can help you save battery),
Using different schedulers e.g. BFS will affect battery life too.
Finally, just using the Sense UI can have an adverse impact on your battery.
Also please post your battery use as that'd help identify your power hungry applications

I think it's not battery/rom problem but kernel problem. Very similar issues were reported in Infinity thread. Sometimes battery percentage falls/going up suddenly. I've noticed this problem too.
it seems wifi's the culprit (many say that), try switching it off and checking battery life

But the battery neither drains the way it says or charges on itself. If you let that cycle continue you'll see. After the second time "charging itself" it has around 20-30% battery left and stays that way until it turns itself off if lower than 1%
That of course might not be, if your phone drains 50%+ within 2 hours

The s7 edge drops battery fast from 100 to about 85 percent. Then it takes it's time. Once it hits 60, it drops slower, and once it hits 39, it drops slower again. Most of my screen on time comes from between 40% and 1%. Nevertheless, try deleting everything and starting fresh again but flash the firmware from another country using Odin

Is that like 1 hour into a new rom or something...looks like you have no battery stats to go by. Plus if your stock 8.0 stand by is horrible... Flash a custom kernel and underclock the large cores...that has really changed my battery life.

Check your battery capacity with a program like Accubattery like everybody else does. Have you not read the 25 or so other battery threads here on the exact same topic? Step #1. Test your battery!
Gsam battery can offer some good battery stats as well. You will want to enable ADB on your 6P and then you can enable more stats in Gsam. ( google Gsam enable more stats)
What helped my battery life was turning off bluetooth scanning ( search bluetooth scanning in settings). Gsam was showing a bluetooth wakelock using a lot of battery.

I probably should have stated that I have done this and attempted to root and use gsam and the like to disable wakelocks, and mess around with alarms and services. No increase of screen-on time.

I put in a new battery and with stock 8.0 it was about 2.5 sot. Got rid of stock kernel and started tweaking some things and get like 4 sot. I don't really trust the battery apps. They have done nothing for me

I can't even get 1 hour screen on.
I haven't used my phone virtually all day and I'm down to 60%
PS. Any suggestions for a custom kernal?
I'm stock 8.0 ATM using ElementalX
I underclocked the big cores to 1500 /small leave stock at 1500
Leave off all the gestures to wake
Also turn off WiFi and Bluetooth scanning
I turn off location until I need it and keep brightness at 50%
If that doesn't help u prbly should replace ur battery
I bought a new back when I did my battery... it was pretty easy.
About 40 $ total..that's battery and back with new glass and bottom trim
If you do it urself just use suction to separate the body from the screen and watch out for the display ribbon under the center of the battery

Alright, thank you so much! I will be trying both of these.
