Problems with Charging With Marshmallow Update - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have had the phone for a few days now. I have tried 3 different charging bricks as well as a new Samsung charging cable. No matter what I do, I only get "charing USB" and using the ampere app, it never hits about 4volts on charging and says "normal" as charging state. I'm using a galaxy s6 fast charger and tried 2 cables and 3 bricks and still just "normal" mode. Any help pls?

Nexus 4 charging (USB) when plugged into wall?

Hey guys, noob here. Tried to thoroughly research this issue before posting but I cannot figure it out. When I first got the phone I fully charged it with the wall charger and it charged at normal speed and when I went to the battery menu it said charging (AC) Later on I plugged it into my computer so that I could put some music on it and ever since then when I plug it into the wall it says charging (USB) and its slow as hell to charge. Basically unusable for day to day use. So far I have tried multiple chargers, factory resets, and restarting the phone with the charger plugged and unplugged. Also, when I plug the phone into the computer now it just charges and does not show up as a device or anything. I have contacted Google about a replacement, but god knows when I will get one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I'm charging my phone for the first time on my PC and it's taking forever also.

Bro, the PC USB output is much less than 1.2 ampere output provided by the wall charger.... Lessee ampere means slow charging.... Charge with wall charger

Sounds like there is a setting for the USB connection like with the HTC Flyer where you tell it the kind of connection you want to use. Whether you want connect to pc or charge only. For the Flyer it will charge a little when connected to a computer but if you want to just charge it via the wall charger you need to select charge only.

Did you even read his post? The phone thinks its charging over USB when its plugged into the wall and is charging slowly. Something is definitely wrong.

Sorry I guess I should have phrased better, I am aware that USB charging speeds are way slower but the issue is that when plugged into a wall charger, the phone thinks it is charging through USB and charges ridiculously slow.
Is this happening with the charger and cable that came with the phone? If so, I'd try to RMA it. Google should have stock to cover warranty purposes.

Yep. Happening with the stock charger any every other one I have tried. Got an rma for it and the shipping estimate was the 25th but now it switched to pending. Don't know if that is good or bad
Try a factory reset, settings > backup & reset > factory reset. Missed it in your original post but it wouldn't hurt to try it again if you're gonna RMA it.

Get a multimeter. Check for continuity on the middle two contacts of the USB charger. (While unplugged)
You should have continuity. If you do, blame the phone. If you don't, blame the charger.

My nexus4 yesterday have the same error, only charge USB mode (original 1.2a , sony 1,5a and samsung 1.0a chargers) but today charge AC mode
May be when is hot only charge in USB mode?
Thanks guys, I guess I will try out the multimeter thing and report back. Finally got a full charge into it over night so maybe that was all it needed. I will report back with any solutions I find in case anybody else develops this problem.

Now my nexus start charging AC mode and then, randomly change to USB mode.
When the device is wireless charging on what mode is, USB or AC?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Mine says USB right now. It must be temperature based. Odd they would change it from AC to USB. I would have gone the warning message route. E.g. "Stop using your phone if you ever want it to charge. 'AC - slow' charge now enabled."
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Or borrow another charger to test the same issue. You could even see if it's the cord or adapter by swapping them as well.
I let my phone cool off. It went back to AC charging. Definite temperature issue. Just odd is says USB/AC and not hot/cold.

Finally I have found my problem, was the original LG cable, with other Samsung usb cable works fine and always chage AC mode.
I have phoned to google support and don't change the charger or cable only, they change all the box (phone and charger)

Yes of course :good:
Glad you guys are able to solve your charging problems. My problem definitely goes deeper than a heating up issue. I have left my phone on charge without use for hours on many different charger setups (mix between LG, Motorola, and stock adapters and cables) and cannot get it out of USB mode. Still No sign of my replacement phone either. I also cannot get more than 7 hours of battery life out of the thing even with data, GPS, and sync off and screen on the lowest brightness. I think I just got an all around lemon /:

I just read an article about 2 apps (songs and prized) that should be containing malware that only gets active while charging. They put a heavy load on the cpu and cause much longer charging. I can't see a connection between rooting and charging times.
Nope, root won't cause this. Either a faulty port on phone or wallcharger. Also might be a malware. I suggest factory reset (wipes all data except sd content)

did you change your usb cable? my nexus5 would charge supper slow with diferent microusb cable.
g2 charges fast on original cable. i might try diferent cable to see if it charges slower
im guessing its malware. and by the way, can you factory reset without delete all the internal sdcard? i thought g2 dont have the feature

Problem with charging the battery!!!!

A friend of mine owns a Glaxy Grand 2 (obviously ) he has a problem with charging his battery. It takes him from 5 to sometime 6-7 hours and despite that the phone charges until it goes to 90-94 % and then it stucks there. If he remove the battery and open the phone again the battery is fully charged.
Any tips or a solution?
My thought was that its an ROM problem.
What is yours?
Thank you in advance!
maybe the firmware problem are you on latest firmware?

check your charger. it should be 1Amp. If it is 0.7Amp output, then it will get stuck at 94 to 95%
click on thanks if you think I helped.

Is it recommended to change the suggested charger that comes in the box... I dont know at this point if it is 0.7A or 1A, but will there be no problem to change to a charger with 1A output if its 0.7?

Yes its the first thing that i asked him, maybe a reinstall of the ROM could fix things. But i thought i would ask if anyone else had the same problem.
you should try re flashing the whole rom using odin otherwise go to a samsung repair center
I have exactly the same problem,
Sometimes it stuck on 92%,93%,94% but sometimes it works perfectly

Mt SM-G7102 came with 1A charger. My wife has the S2 which comes with the 0.7A charger. if I use the S2 Charger, my Grand 2 gets stuck on 94%. If I use the Grand 2 charger, charges right up to 100 percent with no hiccups.

Not a perfect solution....can anyone help....everyone should purchase S2 charger...hahahaha

you seem to have replied without reading.
the S2 charger is 0.7A and the GRAND 2 charger is 1.0 A. so, buying a S2 charger will never help. You will be stuck on 94% for a very long time. You need a 1A charger for Grand 2.

Well, in that case, have you thought of getting it checked by Samsung? Maybe its a hardware fault?

Me Too!
I have this problem too!
I flashed by Samsung firmware 4.3.3 again and it's NOT solved
Hi MY Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 mobile is not getting charged. when it is of 40% I connected to charger, when I see it after 10 mints it went down to 10%. I tried with different chargers to make my mobile battery full but its got getting charge. so if some one knows how to get slove this problem please let me know.
Thank you.
This one kind of problem is kinda the hardware based and not the software. As you can see guys, if you reviewed every single reply and solution. The charger is the problem with some replies, so the charger from S2 will make you get stucked on some certain point of 90% to 94% but if the Grand 2 charger will never have problem.
Conclusion: Use you're own charger (Typically the original charger u have when u got ur phone)

[SOLVED] Does the USB cable have to support fast charge?

Is it both the charger brick and the USB cable that support fast charge or just the brick?
I ask because I want to use the longer USB cable from my Samsung Galaxy Tab S but somebody recently told me the cable also has to support fast charge. When connected, the phone says it is fast charging.
Can anybody confirm this?
Thank you.
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
I used my longer cable I got with my galaxy tab s, and it fast charged fine.
Technically the brick, the cable and where you're plugging it into all play a part. But it's actually only the brick that's fast charge certified.
Granted if you buy a cheap cable, then it might not work. I have several cables that are very thin, and didn't work with fast charging. But they were cheap.
I have numerous white Samsung cables I've used over the years, going back to the one I got with my galaxy S3, and all of them work with fast charging.
If it's a decent cable and not cheap, chances are it'll be fine.
If it says its fast charging, then it is

I use plug that came with my note 4 and wire that come with one of my many xperia device so don't think the wire makes difference
Well last night I used my longer Tab S cable with the Fast Charge brick and it still charged ectremely fast, so that answers that question.
Thanks people.
You can see if it's fast charging on the lock screen, it will specifically state it.

Ye thats the first thing I checked, but a few days ago someone on these forums suggested that even tho it says Fast charging, it does not fast charge with a "non-fast charging" cable. I guess he was making it up.

Fast charging comes from the wall adapter as well question is: Are you using the original wall adapter? If no fast charge did you try different wall adapter?
Also have you tried wireless charging to see if fast charge works? If it does then maybe something is wrong with your usb type C port on your phone Dirt or lint inside?
Test all these let us know what you find out
