Hello,
I am having a problem with wifi calling. I am on a stock un-rooted Nexus 6p on T-Mobile.
I was just in Columbia and wifi calling would not work.
I tested my wifi strength and I was at 5 Megs up and 5 5 megs down.
My wifi calling works and connects fine the the USA every time.
My problems with Wifi calling while international also took place in Amsterdam and Germany.
I did try to connect to my VPN in the US then turn back on wifi calling so that T-Mobile would think that I was in the USA.
Has anyone had this problem ?? What is the way to fix it???
Thanks in advance
You don't need to VPN back to the US. If you are overseas, you can connect to local WiFi to make free calls back to US numbers. Any calls made to non-US numbers will be charged at the applicable long distance rates.
Anyways, if you are trying to connect to a public wifi, many require a check-in via web browser. then you will be able to use wifi calling.
I can confirm that I was properly connected to the hotel wifi. I can also confirm that the port or ports were not blocked on the hotel wifi network because 2 other of my friends were there on the same network and were able to use wifi calling. My friends are also on T-mobile.
Is there a way to check the status of wifi calling on Nexus 6p running 6.0.1. Like I said it works fine in the US.
That's interesting. I am rooted on pure nexus and works fine in USA. I haven't traveled out of the country to test. But I will be in traveling a lot the next few months so I really hope it works.

Let us know when you travel out of the USA because it works fine in the US with no problem. as far as I can tell.

BlackBerry say there's a setting for enabling or disabling wi-fi calling.
"Swipe down from the top of the screen once using two fingers, or twice using one finger.
Tap The Settings icon > More > Wi-Fi calling.
Turn on the Wi-Fi Calling switch.
To see when your device will make Wi-Fi calls, turn on Wi-Fi Calling Status.
Tap Wi-Fi calling preferences > Connection preferences.
To use a Wi-Fi network, even when you have a cellular signal, tap Wi-Fi preferred.
To never use a cellular network and only use a Wi-Fi network, tap Wi-Fi only.
To only use a Wi-Fi network for calls when you don't have a cellular signal, tap Cellular network preferred."
I have checked in vain for the above settings even though I got text from EE saying wifi calling is enabled on my phone when I first set it up. Is this a carrier specific setting or are blackberry telling fibs?
FYI - I have an unlocked PRIV US version and use it with T-Mobile and I do have WiFi calling.
Thanks it would seem EE in the UK have blocked the setting.
I'm from germany and for me the setting is also blocked.
There is no such setting option in India. I can't find it on my Priv

It's carrier specific, and glitchy as hell. Good luck to you.
EE Rom for Priv?
Some thieving toerag lifted my Google Pixel XL (which I was extremely happy with ) and I only had insurance on my iPad (I know, no point calling me names, I've already called myself everything under the sun!) So I had to get a replacement. After a few duff cheap ones which I returned, I got the Priv from Amazon (SIM free) and am amazed that a nearly 3 year old phone (even though brand new) was so feature rich and so well made. I'm chuffed to bits. EE(UK) sent me a replacement SIM and all systems go....except with WiFi calling. EE have confirmed that it needs to be one of their ROMs for the WiFi calling to work, and I'm really struggling to find a ROM for it. Don't suppose anyone else had any joy, or workarounds? Plan 44b is to get a cheap (£30) non branded Wireless Repeater with an 10m aerial cable you fix on the roof, and a small control box and internal antenna which will work on all mobile networks. I don't mind doing that but it's gonna take about 3 weeks to get here from China, and I was hoping for something a little faster - rubbish signal in my area and can't connect to the EE booster box!!
Would AT&T WiFi calling work if I'm travel abroad (say, in Europe)? If not, how about if I connect over WiFi to a VPN server in the US?
Never mind, AT&T website says it should work (without even using a VPN). It's as though you're doing it from within the US, so calls to/from US numbers are free but international calls (including at your actual location) are not.
I just now switched from AT&T to T-mobile because I finally got sick of AT&T for various reasons including very high prices. The network lock is removed. How can I get wi-fi calling to work on this phone? When I try to enable it, I get "To enable this service you must confirm your emergency address.". Then I see "Wi-Fi calling lets you make and receive calls over Wi-Fi with your AT&T account. When you use Wi-Fi Calling, information about the country where the Wi-Fi connection is made will be sent to your carrier. Learn more about Wi-Fi Calling.". The last two words are a link to https://m.att.com/shopmobile/wireless/features/wifi-calling.html?referrer=. It seems there's a hangup of AT&T versus T-mobile. What should I be doing to get this working?
In case anyone is wondering, this particular phone is being used because it must be kept unrooted. I have a G900T that has been rooted.
I have an unlocked Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935U). My carrier is Total Wireless (Verizon MVNO). I recently got a new office at work, and the Verizon coverage in this part of the building is terrible. I use wifi for data but cellular calling basically doesn't work at all.
I've been looking at other networks, and I'm leaning toward T-Mobile or MetroPCS, one of the reasons being they have wifi calling and the wifi at my office is plenty fast. I checked in settings to see the wifi calling option, but when I go to settings > connections > more connection settings, which is where the wifi calling setting is supposed to be, there's nothing about wifi calling.
I had a thought that maybe the wifi calling option isn't there because my current carrier doesn't support wifi calling, so I contacted Samsung support. I asked if I get a SIM from a carrier that supports wifi calling, would the wifi calling option be enabled. They said that unlocked phones don't support wifi calling at all.
This confuses me, because this thread mentions some people were able to use T-Mobile wifi calling on an unlocked S7/S7Edge. But that thread is older, so maybe for some reason wifi calling was removed from the unlocked S7 Edge with the Nougat update?
I suppose the only way to find out for sure is to get a T-Mobile or MetroPCS SIM and see what happens. But is anyone able to shed some light on if this is even worth trying? I suppose it's also worth trying out just to see if regular cellular calling on T-Mobile might be fine at my new desk, but hopefully there's some way to do wifi calling.
Unfortunately I think you need the sm-g935f to get t mobile wifi calling. Don't think it was ever achieved on the U models
I had an s7 edge from T-Mobile (SM-G935T) but I flashed the unlocked firmware essentially making it a SM-G935U and I had VoLTE and Wifi calling working with no issues. It was about a month ago, so it was on Nougat. I would expect no issues with an actual SM-G935U on T-Mobile.
Well, I answered my own question. I switched over to the T-Mobile 10 GB $50/month prepaid plan and when I changed SIMs the phone gave me a "reconfiguring your device for new SIM card" message. Wifi calling is now active.
Also, this is a list of phones that support T-Mobile wifi calling. I probably should've checked here first.

I have a S10+ that was bought from US Cellular that I am now using on Straight Talk with a TMobile sim. I had Wifi calling working just fine before I switched to the new Beta update. After switching back to Android 9 it now says "This is currently unavailable under the call settings for Wifi calling. I am at a loss. I live in an area were the cellular signal is spotty at best and need Wifi calling to work.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

AT&T doesn't like unlocked phones so it's possible the option isn't showing up because of that. Many AT&T customers with unlocked phones have reported that they needed to contact AT&T customer service to get WiFi Calling or Volte working.
