Hello everyone I am a tmobile customer and had a phone that was stock and got caught in a boot loop the tech said the motherboard went out on the phone. I ended up buying a note 4 that was factory unlocked for a good price. When I got the phone it turned out to be a verizon note 4 that was factory unlocked. I was expecting the SM-N910H not the 910v that I got. The phone has a sim slot so I put mine in it and can make calls but since I am not on verizon I dont want all the verizon stuff on it I am thinking I need to root it and was wondering if it is possilbe to flash a tmobile rom to the phone I am told the motherboards are the same in all of the note 4s not sure if that is true. I just want my phone to work as it is supposed to and since the retailer wont take the phone back or and refund me I am stuck with the phone and trying to make the best of it. I dont want a paperwieght so any advice would be appreciated. I am not sure how to proceed.
Thank you all in advance
The bootloader is locked on the SM-N910V and can Not be rooted.

So does that mean I am stuck? Nothing I can do?
You can return the phone. Otherwise there is no thing you can do.

Sadly, I agree.... unless you return the phone, you are stuck, bud.

So yesterday evening I sent in my Nexus 4 to get a replacement due to my battery dying on me out of no where. The phone was rooted with aokp installed. I tried everything to try and boot it up and get it into fast boot to unroot but there was no luck there. So my question is have any nexus 4 owners that have had to get an RMA send there's in rooted? If so was Google able to get your phone up therefore causing you to pay for the replacement?

every device that ive ever sent back to google to get rma'd has been bootloader unlocked, root, custom rom/kernel. never a problem. last one was my nexus 7, stopped charging. generally, if its hardware related, theyll take care of it.

It's a Nexus..
I highly doubt Google will notice or care.. :good:
I don't see you having an issue it's a hardware fault.

At least 1 person has already been denied RMA because they unlocked the bootloader, so they care.

I find that rather odd... I wonder if there was more to the story..
In the past I have sent Google unlocked, rooted, and custom ROM'd Nexus 7, a Galaxy Nexus, and a Nexus 10...
Never heard a peep from them..

I can't find the thread (guy probably deleted it) but basically the guy told the rep he unlocked the phone and he was then referred to some other department that then denied his RMA.

Say that I got approved for a RMA and when they receive my phone they don't spot any problem? Will I need to pay the full price of the new phone they send to me?

We'll I was hoping to get a dev to look at the system dump and see what they find.
It's probably some app you have installed. Don't panic. Restart the phone 5 or 6 times and see if it still appears..if it does it may just be an app messing with it. Definitely nothing to worry about unless it just annoys you.
I throw everything under the sun at it. I been working on getting the Verizon Note Edge rooted. I tryed every root tool out there. Even every CF autoroot. Verizon has this phone locked to the tee. Hope someone comes up with something soon. I even tryed ADB codes. Its a no go. So if you planing to buying the note edge with verizon and want root. You might be better off with sprint or t-mobile. Towelroot will not work with this phone. I even ripped that app apart to hack into it. To see what geohot did. That was no good also. Intil we get some really good dev's on this. This edge on verizon will never be rooted. Hopes this helps who ever plans on buying one..
i want and edge... can i use any other carrier with verizon and root it.. or can i buy a non carrier specific edge to work with verizon?

Do we at least know where it's locked? I've never taken a stab at what it takes to root from the ground up, but perhaps some insight on where to start?

The developer edition is probably the way to go for Verizon.
This is so annoying... I wish Verizon had a developer tool that'd allow us to unlock bootloader if we wish to. Does anyone know when the developer edition will be out?

I been on the phone all week between Verizon and Samsung. Trying to get info on the developer edition and trying to throw FCC REGULATIONS laws at them. One rep hung up on me. Saying that Verizon don't care about the law. I am thinking about switching careers. Then taking Verizon to court for forcing contracts on people. That don't meet standards of the FCC. I spent 3 hours reading every regulations of the FCC. And how the block C works that Verizon bought back in 2007.

Yeah. Because that would open the flood gates. For all samsung devices on Verizon. There's some more loop holes. I still studying on. As I can get any back up firmware for this device.

Need a guinea pig? I'll help!
Even though we tested a Verizon Pixel, the bootloader was not locked. That means rooting and installing ROMs is possible; that should allay some fears about Google turning the Pixel into a closed realm.
http://www.pcmag.com/review/348519/google-pixel-xl
? soon enough we'll get a verification from the people who are getting it from vzw on 10/20. Sadly my date is 10/28.
That's great news! I pre-ordered from Verizon to replace my note 7. I kept reading that it might be locked so i looked into ordering from google but the Pixel XL was sold out by the time I tried to.

Same here I've been having second thoughts about my pre order with Verizon since the rumor was the bootloader was locked. I've been checking Google store a few times a day to see if they got any in stock. I hope this is true. Is there a way to check quick while in in the Verizon store when my pre order comes in on the 20th? Before i give them my note 7 ?
I put all my money on this one being just like the Nexus 6. Guess I should get a lottery ticket today.

It was never locked. All of that was fear mongering based on speculation, a rep said this or that which is unreliable, and one who claims they had prerelease firmware locked down.
Meanwhile we have someone with a Verizon Pixel in hand who has confirmed its unlockable.

You will want to find instructions for the Pixel because it's new hardware and software, but it's fairly straightforward. Here is a video link from the Nexus 6P for reference.

I'm wondering if it only locks when it's activated on a Verizon SIM. I might be grasping at straws and hoping here. I wonder if anyone can start the phone up with a T-Mobile and/or AT&T sim in and see what happens.
Take sim out before powering on to check. That's my best guess and what I'll do.

Rooting will not unlock the phone. You need to stay with Sprint for 50 days to be eligible for unlock. If you are planning to reuse on a different network, better return the phone.
