i wonder if note 4 could support this new kind of sdcard ??
Hi,
yes. The Note 4 supports 200GB MicroSD cards. I have a SanDisk 200GB card in my phone. No issues so far.
Regards
Stephan
I have the same one as well. 10gb partitioned for link2sd and the rest for storage. zero problems
This may sound stupid, but i will go for it and ask. Can you make ext sd + phone sd to work in RAID ?
Hi Sectoras,
no, RAID is not possible. And what RAID should it be? Mirroring, Striping, Raid 5, Raid 6?
You are thinking about a joined memory of internal and external SD card, right? This will be possible with Android 6 / Marshmallow.

I was thinking about RAID0 (Striping i think) to improve performance. If MM support such thing it could be awesome

No, it does not support striping. What it does support is called "Just a bunch of disks" (JBOD) but that's no RAID. JBOD is a storage volume created by joinig disks (here SD cards) of different sizes. JBOD does not improve performance, it just supplies you a single storage using all memory cards (Phone 32GB + ext. SDcard 200GB). There is also no data security (redundancy of data). Therefore RAID 0 (striping) is, technically spoken, not a RAID as well because of the missing data redundancy.
I also expect several issues with the JBOD solution of Android 6. The externa SD card is much slower than the internal memory which might have and according to some reports on the net does have adverse effects on the loading speed of apps and data. Also when the SD card breaks you will probably have to re-install the complete phone as you have no influence on where the apps and data are stored.
I saw a 256GB micro sd card. I'm assuming that will work too?
Yes, should work if the 256GB is an SDXC card.
If a phone supports SDXC cards based on the SDA 3.0 specifications (like the Sandisk 200GB card) it will support every SDXC card following that standard.
SDXC supports 64GB up to 2TB.
If some day there will be for example a 512GB or 1TB SDCX card available it should also work with the Note 4.

256GB Micro SD cards don't exist only 200GB
You either saw a regular 256 GB SD card or a fake 256GB micro SD card which has been reviewed as BS.

There is no such thing as a 256GB microSD card at this time. Biggest one you can find is the 200GB one mentioned.

ur wrong.. 200gb is not the last high capacity micro sd.. their is one micro sd with 512 gb capacity.. company name is Microdia.. just google about it..
The 512GB card from Microdia doesn't exist yet. At one point they were claiming it would be out 8 months ago (and was going to cost $1000) - but again it does not exist yet (and might never be as it's been almost a year since they maid these claims). I've seen plenty of people scammed and ripped of on these cards - again - THERE IS NOTHING BIGGER THAN THE 200GB for sale at this time.
Interesting I didn't know the Note 4 could support a microSDCard of that size, I thought the largest card that can be used is a 128GB card.

Hello all, anyone know what the max card support for the universals sd/mmc reader is
Thanks
Hi there,
If I'm not wrong, the manual says clearly that universal can read/write SD cards up to 2GB (unless someone with a better expertise than me knows something different).
In any case, this is not completely right, many people uses 4GB cards (including me), but it seems that not all the applications can cope with them, photo camera is one of them, if I'm not wrong, it will not save the photos to the SD unless it has 2GB or less free space.
Somewhere else in this forum, someone else said that he even uses a sam..ung 8GB SD card (very expensive).
Hope this helps

Yup i use a 8GB Samsung SD Card to watch DVD's. I dont have the time to encode DVD's to avi xvid format so i just copy them directly to the 8GB card and watch them on the tcpmp player. Quite fun i believe. I am waiting for the 32GB SD Card release by samsung and sandisk.
im using the 4gb 150x sd card from mobymemory (£47) no probs! nice and quick too noticed tomtom load quicker.
also im using the newest qtek rom and the camera stores to card no probs (dont have to have 2gb used as per some other complaints)
Im getting the 4gb Transcend sd card soon.. im currently using 2gb transcend but I soon realized it still isnt enough...the bigger, the better of course
nuclear, I don't understand... how is an 8GB SD card possible??? 4GB should be the absolute max.
Does the Universal support SDHC in one of the newer ROMs or something?

Well the device will always show you 2000MB regardless of the ROM. But you can put more than 2000MB on your 8GB card and it will read all the files and you can use them. Its just that at this part the memory monitor will show your SD card in the negative section or full. All SD Card are compatible in the HTC Universal. Enjoy.
I am waiting for the 32GB SD Card by Samsung and SanDisk
Brain... does... not... compute.
Nuclear, I need more info. What card did you get? What brand? Is it SD or SDHC? How did you format it?
What's different about the Universal that makes it possible?!?

Its a SD. Samsung 150X 8GB SD Card for $200 or so. I formatted it when i insert it into the Universal. Then i hooked it up to my PC. Transfered a DVD into it. And then back into the Universal and it played the DVD!!!
Hmmm I got one of these
http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Item(1239)-SDSDPH-1024-SanDisk_Ultra_II_SD_Plus_USB_1GB.aspx
MUCH faster transfers when you put it straight in your PC. I'm thinking of getting the new 2Gb version soon

My Universal screwed up my precious 4GB SanDisk Extreme III card and my 8GB Samsung. Literally it made my 8GB to 2GB and my 4GB to 2GB. I lost 6GB of space on my 8GB card into nothing. I am contacting tech support all day and this is what they posted. THE MAX IS 2GB!!!! >>>>>.<<<<< scary ;(
http://www.sandisk.com/Compatibility/Device(8016)-i-mate-JasJar.aspx
I was going through the SD specifications, and it looks like that SD 1.1 could support up to 64GB (!!!) using 32KB clusters.
Unfortunately, this won't ever happen, since SD 2.0 flags anything above 2GB as a memory error.
8GB should be possible because FAT32 defaults to 4KB clusters, which would match. Larger capacity would need reformating to match the larger SD clusters, but technically it should be possible, IMHO.
So probably some of the Samsung OEMs do work at 8GB using SD 1.1. But I'm seeing the new auctions say SD 2.0 compatible only.
Oh well, I can live with 4GB, but I hope Windows Mobile adds support for SDHC and MMCplus.
Nuclear, the 4GB Sandisk I believe is SDHC, so it will probably screw things up. The 8GB Samsung you could probably reformat on your PC.
If you have an SDHC and an SD USB reader, use the SD one, as the SDHC one might force you down to 2 GB.
Hey, it's just my guess from reading the specs.

My SanDisk 4GB Extreme III is a SDHC? I was sure i bought a SD only. It says SD on it....
As for my 8GB my PC detects it as only 2GB. Reformatted and again only 2GB. I know another way to fix it. Partition MagiC!!! I lost 6GB in partition space. And same with the other 4GB card. Once i partition it every 2GB it will make 3 cards in 1 . Well stay tuned and i will let you know how paritioning the space helped.
Hello folks, this is my first post.
I want to buy a SD card for my Kaiser (-> T-Mobile Germany MDA Vario III to be exact).
Each time I call the service, i get a different answer. Sometimes the SDHC works with the Kaiser, sometimes only the SD does, sometimes the 8GB would work but sometimes the Kaiser can only take cards up to 4GB.
So my question to this awesome forum is:
1. Do 8GB SD cards work with a T-Mobile Germany MDA Vario III?
2. Does a T-Mobile Germany MDA Vario III take SD as well as SDHC cards?
Thanks in advance!
Hi. I see no reason why the a German version of MDA Vario III wouldn't accept an 8GB memory card. The TyTNII (registered name) is SDHC enabled and I have read on numerous websites that it has the ability to accept memory cards of up to 32GB.
I, like you, have the T Mobile MDA Vario III, only I live in the UK. I'd think that different brand names for practically the same device (TyTNII) would be fundamentally simmilar, and that if a TyTNII and UK T mobile MDA Vario III could accept an 8GB SDHC card, then it would be no different with the German MDA Vario III.
I am currently looking for the best 8GB memory card, with memory card reader too. Tell you what, get an 8GB memory card, and if it somehow doesn't work, just return it and explain that you had good reason to believe that it was compatible with your device
Mine is arriving from MemoryBits.co.uk very soon hopefully. £43.62 (+p&p) with USB card reader.
I'll let you know if it works!
ok! thanks both of you a lot! ill probably buy one and then return if it doesn't work, just as one of you proposed (the number guy )
(btw, thanks for the awesome fast response)
one problem is, you know, its the 20 december and id like to have it on the 24th for obvious reasons, so i think i cant afford waiting until you get yours, but still AWESOME thanks, foaf!!!
Boy are we in the same boat I received my sdhc 8gb just in time for Xmas but the Tytn 2 is still under the tree in its box :/

No it's not, as SDHC is the newer format required to go above 4GB and it's on available on MicroSD, MiniSD, and SD Cards.

I just ordered a 8GB card - can't wait to get it
Do you guys use the Cardreader or go through the USB Active Sync?
It seems taking the micro SD card out all the time would break the little plastic bit covering it :-(
you don't have to take the card out for just normal use, but if your going to be loading a lot of music or a couple movies at one time you might want to take it out of the phone and use the card reader cause it is much faseter.
Yea, I just ordered the 8 GB Sandisk from ebay. Should be here any day now. I can't wait!!!
Although in a few months when there's a 16 GB card out, we'll all be sad.
Damn technology.
I got an 8GB Sandisk for Christmas and it came with a SanDisk card reader. Looks like a little USB jump drive and you just slide the MicroSD in it.
I had to use it to format the old 2GB MicroSD I was using as when my daughter tried to put it into here Blackberry Curve the Blackberry objected profusely. LOL
Funny thing is all I did was throw the USB adapter in a Vista box and it recommended fat32. I wonder what format was on it when it was in my Tilt?
If it was Fat32 why the hell did it need formating?
I have already got a 16GB SDHC class 6...
Hope I am wrong... XD
But this will not work in the HD2? That's just crazy. Can it really be true that it only supports crappy old and slow MicroSD at the very max size of 8gb and no real internal phone memory??? Even the hero has sdhc :S
EDIT: Source: http://www.htc.com/europe/product/hd2/specification.html
The specification says '(SD 2.0 compatible)'.
SD 2.0 allows up to 32 Gb per card.
HC only means the card is bigger than 4GB.
Can't see any issue here ...
So my microSDHC is compatible? =)
The slot is a microSD one. Your card is a microSD one.
The SD 2.0 standard allows 32 GB. Your card is 16GB.
(Forget about the HC part, purely marketing and useless)
Short answer: yes, your 16GB microSD card is compatible with the HD2.

Look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2472486. Myself haven't go through in details but i believe 128GB is possible
128 is the biggest available (on amazon, but deeply backordered - I bought mine like a month ago, and still no sign of shipping). The manufacturers appear to be supply constrained.
128GB of flash just barely fits into a microSD package with top-of-the-line process technology. That's the biggest we're going to see until another round of process shrinks (and this is why it's taken until now to bring out a 128gb microsD card).
However you can mod your phone with an sd card to micro sd card adaptor and use a 256gb up to 2 terabyte card - theoretically... People do use 256gb sd cards though. This is proven to work...

So does NOTE 3 fully support 128GB? I mean, if you insert a 128GB will Note 3 see it as 128GB or just 64GB? Or will it sense it as two separate 64GB partitions?
I ask because I see in the specs: "it can be expanded with a up to 64GB external memory"...

Thats because 64gb was all that was available when Note 3 was launched.... The S3 specs only say up to 32gb but I used a 64gb sd card in that as well as the Note 1....
This is the manufacturer covering their A$$ so if for some reason someone did have a problem they point to the specs sheet and say it wasn't covered...
Rest assured it does NOT partition the sd card... I have a 128gb sd card - using the sd card to micro sd card adaptor - on my Note 10.1 2014 ed with no problems... Hell, I use a 128gb sd card on my Note 10.1 1st edition...
Still running out of space though.....
I get my adaptors from here, though I have seen cheaper these are just the right size - http://linitx.com/product/sdmicro-to-sd-card-adapter/11922
I have a 64gb flash card its the fastest class ect. and it runs PAINFULLY SLOW! it takes forever to even copy stuff onto it from USB3. its much slower then the note 2 for some reason. i had it tested and its not faulty. its just a PAIN IN ASS. so only use it if you plan to keep it on there a long time. now I just delete/copy the internal memory as its much faster then move all stuff overnight while its on charge to External

If you have a 256gb micro sd card you just plug in where the micro sd card goes, I was referencing an adaptor that has a micro sd plug and you can insert a normal size sd card. If you have a 512gb sd card this would also work...
Hello, I purchased a 200 Gb Lexar microsd.
I was so happy of its capacity, but now I have a file system issue. It made it just readable, so no way to modify it neither format it...
Since my data stand there I cannot give it back in order to get a replacement or refund...so I think no more Lexar at all...

Hello, can anyone test 256 gb sdcard with mi a1, I know the specs said it can only support up to 128gb SD card ,I want to test but I don't have 256gb SD card
Ty
Why would you anyone get a 256GB SD to see if it works? It's useless....
Why, because if it work I want to use it, for storing movie and work stuff
I don't have 256gb sdcard ,that's why I posted here and asked anyone who owned a 256gb sdcard to test it with their device
I use 200gb memory card without any problem.
I also have a 200gb, system says its a 256gb card with 61gb used by system, which makes it have about 180gb free, so exactly what I'd expect, works without problems
Thanks bro, now I can buy the 256gb sdcard without hesitation

Are you using Oreo? The is a bug where cards are reported as being double their actual size so it looks like your card is actually only recognised as a 128GB.

I am using oreo, but I can still copy more than 128gb to the card without problems
So how did the 256 GB card work out for you?
