Okay what version moto g4 play do you have?
You can fastboot flash the stock firmware for your phone. If you do that, you should back up everything you want to save 'cause flashing the stock firmware will wipe your phone.

If IMEI is zerod out sounds like you may have lost your EFS and without backup nothing can be done about it. What happens if you flash a firmware that came with the device?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I had this happen on my old Moto G 1st. Gen before and I managed to fix it by flashing to the phone's stock firmware. Don't know if it fixes it every time or if I got lucky
Didn't back it up and I tried flashing the stock firmware and same issue happens.

Hello, my G4 Plus reads IMEI 0 when *#06# in ROM, but I can read the correct IMEI from fastboot getvar imei and can see my correct IMEI in /proc/config/imei. Any help to restore my IMEI is appreciated, I will be happy to provide and test any information as needed.
Also, I can connect to my carrier, but I cannot use voice, data, or SMS. Sometimes it drops to no service.
Would anybody happen to know how to enable RNDIS + DM + MODEM mode on the G4?
you flashed wrong stock rom check again and flash correct one i did same once lost imei then flashed right one and got it back look into this thread you can find it https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/help/tale-woe-looking-xt1644-stock-rom-t3419649

I'm having the same issue right here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/help/help-xt1642-hard-bricked-help-t3498943/page2
Keep tuned with me while we both fight the dragon
At least if all fails you have a so much better chance being in the US; you could resort to service centers to change board. I don't have that option.

Is your bootloader unlocked? If so I'd go to TWRP and flash the stock 93-14 N backup that's floating around somewhere on XDA.
Also, make sure to flash the radio and fastboot corresponding to your stock ROM version.
If you don't fix your phone though I'll take it

Did you make a imei backup Image the first time?
Gesendet von meinem Moto G (4) mit Tapatalk
I think the IMEI isn't erased. I had the same issue last month. There are different types of firmware(custom roms are based on them too) and they doesn't notice the IMEI If you flash the wrong one. So I would recommend to flash the right and if you do not know the right, try every (I suggest to test the Indian one first. In most cases it is the solution).

Yes, the N ROM that can be restored through TWRP.
By all means, also try flashing stock Nougat through fastboot.

That's not good idea to flash all available firmware. It can be old firmware and flashing old firmware (downgrade) can damage lots of things on your device.
First tell us which device you have and if your your phone is g4plus and not changed to normal g4. FingerPrint working correctly ?
Try "fastboot getvar all" command check if it shows your IMEI somewhere, and post result here. ( if it shows IMEI, then tell us and remove it and post.)

In my case I flashed all firmware included in android 6 (it's stock) from a custom android 7 build. I know it's an old thread but I'm still open to suggestions and hoping to fix this.
To make more sense, I downgraded from 7 to 6.
My sister bought an G6 from someone, but when it boots it says that it is needed to fill in the credentials from the previous owner. But the previous owner is not replying.
So I thought it would be easy to unlock the bootloader, flash TWRP and reflash the device. I tried with minimal ADB and fastboot (newest version) and TOOL ALL IN ONE. But I get stuck because I'm missing unlock.bin
Anyone knows a workaround? Or another way to hard-reset the device? :good:
Lgup and uppercut.
Or your need to get the unlock.bin from lg dev website.

And btw I don't understand why ****ing Poland is messing with European laws and why they block all black foreigners and refugees!
Anyone? Is there an G6 image which supports the REFURBISH function on LGUP/Uppercut? Or another option? Thank you big time.
Just wait the vendor you reply, or file a complaint, they must pay you back if the device does not work properly, and he has surely stolen it, nobody here will help you to unlock this phone because it can be used by thieves

I originally bought my Moto G5 Plus unlocked from Best Buy. XT1687. I rooted it a couple years ago, tried Lineage out for a bit, and something else. I ended up putting it on 8.1.0 and unrooted it, however, I can't lock the bootloader. The image signature fails, and the pre activation fails as well. Everything I've found online says this means I'm trying to install an older version of Android than what's on my Moto. My Moto is only running 8.1.0 though. I'm just trying to get back to factory settings and official US retus XT1687 conditions. Any help for this would be greatly appreciated.

You need singed image of firmware to flash the device and lock the bootloader. You can get singed image from here or from Lenovo moto smart assistant.
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/potter/official/
But I suggest you to keep the device bootloader unlock to keep safe from getting hard bricked or any other problems which occurs after installing stock ROM.
