This method will get TWRP and root access on your phone.....
Follow the steps exactly.....
(This WILL trip knox, so if warranty is important, do not use this method).
1) deactivate 'Reactivation Lock' (can be found under Security in Settings).
2) copy SuperSU zip to your device.
3) boot into download mode.
4) Odin flash TWRP 2.8.7.0 (specifically this version).
5) DO NOT allow phone to boot, (uncheck auto reboot in odin and if necessary remove the battery as soon as the TWRP flash has completed) then.....
6) boot directly into recovery. (Vol +, Power & Home button combination)
7) flash SuperSU zip.
8) boot device as normal.

Dear OP, thank you for this - you are very kind. Just wondering - is there a specific reason you didn't ZIP all these files together before uploading? It's no great hassle - you can just CTRL+A and download as ZIP... I just wondered if you were aware, that's all?
Many thanks, God bless you and Happy 2015
I'm on the brazilian XT1069 5.01 ROM on my Moto G XT1068 and works nice. Is this one compatible also?

Did you need to wipe your /data partition? Or it just works fine simply restoring the TWRP backup?
Necesitaste hacer un wipe a la partición /data? O ya funciona bien simplemente restaurando el backup de TWRP?
Muchas gracias desde España!

you can try flashing the recovery. its just a recovery not like kernel you need to have the specific kernel for your phone variant but if you're afraid of bricking your phone then I suggest not to flash and wait for others opinion.

why cross my fingers? is there a risk of brick?
what do I do if I don't have fingers?
Whenever you flash anything to a phone, there is always the possibility of something going wrong, such as a power failure, flashing incorrectly, etc.
I know that, that's why I want to make sure I do everything right first!
Just scaring you, you cna always reinstall the stock ROM or whatever you like
Its simple for flash/install TWRP

Should work. Can you test it and let us know ?
While installing the Super SU, I'm getting following error in log screen:
"Finding boot image
Boot image: /dev/block/sda5
Extracting ramdisk
Decompressing ramdiisk
Failure, aborting.
Then comes the Important Notice text. SU is not getting installed
Edit: Wiping everything in Advance Wipe worked for me. Installer SU from OTG device and no problems now.
