Converted from iPhone to Android - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I need help. I was an iPhone user and always organise my music in Playlists in itunes and my photos in Albums so that anything can be easily reached. When i bought nexus 6p my 1st android phone i couldn't manage to copy iTunes playlists as it is and photo albums all what i could do is to transfer all music and photos without any organising. I saw in the internet a way to do so using (Free Solution) Google music manager but this app is not available in my country and i found (Paid Solutions) i couldn't use them because they are paid . So is there anyway to do what i hope to do Freely and easily
Thanks in advance

It's easy to organise your photos into albums, all you need to do is get a file manager app from the Play Store and create folders for each album in your internal storage, then simply move the photos into their appropriate folders. The Google Photos app isn't a very good local photo viewer so you'll probably want to download a better gallery app like Piktures (this app will show your albums properly).

I've never used iTunes so I wouldn't have a clue about whether there's an easy way to import those playlists to Android.

If you sign up for a Google Account, won't it synch your photos from your IPhone to Google Photos?

I did that and it moved all my photos to my phone but without any organising all photos in one place without being in albums
now my real problem is iTunes playlists, i have a lot of songs it is impossible to make it manually and google music manager is not available in my country

AirSync might do what you are trying to do: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doubleTwist.androidPlayerProKey

[Q] New to Android [iTunes Album Sync]

Hello all,
I am a former iPhone user to just received his Moto Atrix today and I am trying to get some music on the device.
My iTunes library does not revolved around playlists, but instead I use the "Albums" view to play/sync music (to my iPhone). When I sync the iPhone, I have an option of checking which albums I want to sync.
Is there any software I can get/purchase that will let me do this for the Droid. I would like to still use iTunes as my music management software, but sync Albums onto my Atrix. I have tried some software (doubleTwist) but it only allows syncing of playlists (which I don't have). This software would also have to have the ability of playing from the "Albums" on the Atrix.
[See attached for what I would like the application to be able to sync]
Thanks in Advance,
Tom

That's the one I just tried. It only seems to be able to sync "Playlists" and not Compilations/Albums
Sorry I must have skipped that part in your post.
You can try this http://androidforums.com/android-media/139655-how-sync-itunes-android.html

Giving this a try now. So far so good. I am syncing the music now, which is half the battle. Hopefully some music player will be able to "detect" these albums. I will be trying MixZing first.
Make a playlist with everything you want to sync
Or you can download the Motorola medialink software, as it can sync all your itunes musics. Of cause the DRM free one's.

This is essential anyway if you have more music than you have space on the phone, which if you are into music - is likely. In that case, stick to doubletwist.

iTunes agent worked beautifully. I am able to see my albums in the Music player as well as Mixzing.
Cleaned up some album covers that were missing using the free album cover app.
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!

[Q] Music Artist Info

Iam using the stock google music app and I synced my music with Windows Media Player 12 from my Windows 7 laptop. I have all my Album info but no Artist info. I've search for a way to get the info and I have removed all my music and resynced. Is there an app that can help or did I do something wrong when I synced my music. Thanks for the help.

I haven't used WMP in a long time but I'm guessing when you say sync, you actually hooked up the tab to you laptop and than synced within WMP?
If so, than maybe just try directly copying the mp3's over from your laptop to your micro sd card.
Tried that too no luck. Thanks for the suggetion.

There are a couple ways to get artist and album info into your music. There are some apps on Android that can do it, but I personally find that it's music better to deal with doing this on a PC or Laptop than within Android.
The first and easiest method is to use WMP. Once your music is in a place WMP can actually find it, ie: a monitored folder of your PC, by default I think it's My Music but you can add folders manually, then you can open up WMP and hit the Find Album Info button, and go ahead and match your tracks to what you see in there. This works best if you have the music already arranged in folders using the Artist and Album names.
The second way is manually, there's an application called MusicBrainz Picard which is really good at identifying mp3s and also tagging them. If you ripped your music yourself from CDs or purchased them from Amazon or iTunes it should find the information and will match it up for you.
If MusicBrainz doesn't work for you, the last ditch program is Mp3tag which can look the information up based on Album or Artist names, then you can have it batch tag the files for you, based on your arranging the mp3s into the proper order, or you can just tag a few - whichever you prefer.
There are other tools as well but these are the programs I use, so I can only speak for them.
Good Luck.

Than you could try a different media player and see if google music is the problem.
Theres pleanty of free ones in the market.
Temp Fix
I sort of got my artist info. I downloaded IDFixer from the marketplace for free the only program that reads the née artist info is the Acer Media app. Hopefully Google will update their app to fix this.

[Q] mac?

any idea if this phone would play well with mac? i was hoping i could sync it with iTunes and iPhoto?
There may be third party apps out there that give you that functionality but as this is not an Apple device, there is no official support for iTunes/iPhoto. Android isn't designed for syncing everything to your computer like that, really.
Nope, there are 3rd Party offerings as said. The device indexes them automagically when you just copy and paste them to internal storage.

I currently have my google account synced with the Address Book, so it does "play well with mac".
If you want to sync your music and photos -- there're mac google apps for that, but no it won't be iTunes/iPhoto you'd need to use on your mac.
Double Twist works pretty well for me and my Mac try it .. It's free unless you want WiFi Sync

how can you use double twist with no UMS support?
With iSyncr you can sync your music/videos with iTunes, I'm not sure about photos tho.
For music you could install Google Music and set it to sync up with your iTunes, which then automatically gets pushed to Google Music on your phone. That's what I do.

You can just, within the Google Music app, click "Keep on phone", and either click individual songs or entire playlists. It automatically downloads all the songs to your phone, and whenever you download a new song on iTunes, if you add it to the playlist in iTunes that you checked to keep on your phone, Google Music automatically downloads it to you local phone storage. Been doing this for months.

I am also hoping this device works well on mac, been having some trouble with Android File Transfer on macs. Hopefully this device will be different.

Download Google Music Manager on your Mac (should ask you if you want it when you first sign up for Google Music if you're running OS X). Once it's installed, open System Preferences, and choose Music Manager, which should be down on the last row. From there, pick 'Upload.' Then, 'Choose by playlist.' This allows you to choose an iTunes playlist to sync to Google Music, which you'll then be able to use on your Android device through the Play Music app.
You can also use DoubleTwist. You just have to enable (in its prefs) "Automatically import iTunes playlists."
I use iSyncr for mac when I transfer music. Not sure about iPhoto.

I'm not sure about double twist, I thought it was a windows only program, but if you go into Google Music, scroll over to "Playlists", and hit menu and hit "Choose music to keep on device" or something like that, then you can click on the playlist you want.

Yes iSyncr supports MTP it also has a wifi sync. Double twist doesn't support it but you can pay extra for air sync.

Yeah double twist it's only like a dollar or two if I remember correctly ... And as long as your computer and phone are under the same WiFi network you can also sync photos and videos ( time to convert your videos to mp3 files will depend in your Mac specs but in older ones its rather slow for ) but that's it no UMS needed just sync the devices together ...

Any Solution / Alternative to Picasas Sub Folder Problem?

I love everything about Picasa and all its features. Including syncing from my web albums directly to my Nexus 4's Stock Galley App.
But seeing as It does not support Subfolders/Sub Albums and It tends to just throw everything in a root folder, I'm trying to look for an alternative.
Is there any cloud based storage where I can put my pictures on and link them folders to my Stock Gallery App as Picasa does? While still keeping my folder structure? I am using dropbox at the moment, but unfortunately cant figure out how to shortcut to my pictures from my Gallery App

Music Sync

What program does everyone use to sync their itunes playlists to their S5?
I've tried isyncr, doubletwist, and different types of file managers but i have been able to find something as simple as itunes and that doesn't mix up my album covers.

Well Sir, That's a good question I would like to know too!
Im tired of modifying music on itunes and later finding the file, then usb/wifi pass it to phone.
If there is a good app for that, I would like to know.
Urm Google music? Download the music manager for the PC and it will sync with iTunes. Just runs in the background and will sync your play lists etc. The Android app will then download the music as you need it. Album art and all.
