how to remove sense?

Has anyone removed Sense? How does your phone run? And is it possible?

Yep. Just remove Rose.apk and Rose.odex from /system/app. I made my own custom gutted Hero rom with a lot of things removed including the boot animations. Im thinking about uploading it. I can upload a Sense-less (pun intended) Hero if you would like. Note, I did not test it much. Just played with it for a few minutes. Make sure you Nandroid backup

Is it truly "Sense"-less? That is, with the standard white menu bar, default icons, etc.?

holy hell, removing htc sense speeds up boot time tenfold. i had it diabled but after removing it completly boot time is awesome. thanks for the tip! cant wait to try ur rom

Im going to upload it soon. And now it is not going to be truly senseless yet. I dont have enough time to do that right now but I hope to soon. At the very least it will have all HTC Widgets deleted as well as Rosie.

Well, I am just going through some basic testing right now to make sure it works. I made two roms. They are both basically MoDaCo's roms so he should get all the credit. I just took some leg work out of it for you guys
Like I said, when I have them all tested and working I will upload. Hopefully that means soon. And remember I am not new to the whole rooting/hacking scene but to rom development I am new so please forgive me for saying these are pretty darn beta

My phone is way faster with sense gone

my phone runs great i have MoDaCo 1.1 with apptosd and i removed htc sense my phone is only useing 8m of internal storage. I can't belive how fast it is.

WTF is wrong with probex?

I don't know what's going on but has anyone tried going to www.probex.ca to get themes for the tp2? i have 2 of them and i wanted to see if they had new ones but their site isn't working. anybody know if someone does the same if not better tp2 themes?

[REQUEST] PNGs Finished! MIUI ROM for MDPI.

Devs,
Not sure if anyone has had the chance to take a look at this, but they've finished converting the PNGs from MIUI to MDPI. I know there's been a lot of hype over this ROM and I'm sure it would be a big hit with Eris users if someone decided to take a crack at it!

I've been watching this Rom and everyone at the hero forums have done some amazing work. We have some incredible devs here who should give it a go

Maybe you can ask tazz to take on another rom? lmao

From what I see, there isn't any source for it yet. Without that, porting is nearly impossible. It was designed for ARM7 cpu... so we'd need the source.

More like I have a droid so I have the option of theming(?) rather than being locked into one style for 2 years .

^ That, or AT&T sucks, and I'd rather stick with Verizon so I stick with Android ... because, what else is there really. I'm one of the few [thousand or so] that would jump if I could *laugh* Until then, I try to get the most out of what I've got.

I'm with you on that, but I do see some merit to a new UI keeping our Eris' fresh. Could be fun if somebody decides to pick it up.

Oh, disregard what I said about it then. On a phone as limited as the Eris the only way to make it truly fast is to do it from source.
Has anybody asked the devs to release the source? That is, if anybody wants to pick it up.

yes they were asked and as of now they were told no

Wow, way to act in the spirit of Android.
Somebody should grab a copy of the ROM and reverse engineer it just to mess with them.

While I am all for open source and sharing this is more of an android overlay just like Sense and motoblur which we don't have the source for either.

[Devs] Anything you need?

Hey all.... Been a while since I wondered through these parts but have to say I'm chuffed to see DHD development is still ongoing.
I have been the proud owner of the 'One' for a while now and actually just wanted to let the devs here know that if there's anything I can pull from my phone or get hold of for them to use here for the DHD then I'm more than happy to do what I can. Let me know
Ps. If you're wondering if the One is worth moving to from the DHD then I can tell you right now it'll blow your mind lol!

there is no jb base for DHD, u have to port.

[REQUEST] 4K 120FPS Cam for AOSP

Hi,
Just installed the latest CM on my device a few days ago and I miss my old camera on CloudyG3...
I couldn't find any camera app with 4K and 120FPS Slow motion that works on AOSP.
If anyone of you know an app, it would very helpful.

Com'on guys, I'm sure a lot of people would LOVE to have an app like this. And I'm not a developer, but I don't think it's too complicated.
Do anyone of you know someone who can maybe develop such a thing?
