Need to know if Can flash stock recovery from twrp - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a stock recovery zip that can be flashed with twrp to keep root but just get stock 3e recovery.
If so any links guys?

Download the full ROM for your device from this thread:
[Firmware] Moto X Style/Pure Stock Software
Extract the files in the zip file. In there, you should have a file called recovery.img. Copy this file to your phone/sdcard. You can then flash this by going to Install in TWRP and browsing to the folder you copied the image file to. Press Images in the button right corner and choose your file in the list. Select Recovery when the next screen comes up and then Swipe to Flash. Once this is done, reboot the device. Please note, I take no responsibility if you have issues using this method and I recommend making a full backup before flashing any file. I would personally flash the recovery file using the ADB/Fastboot method though this method has worked fine for me. You may also need to note that if you need TWRP again, you will need to flash it using the ADB/Fastboot method as the stock recovery does not offer the option to flash custom files.
Hope this helps.

I read about this elsewhere I downloaded something similar Not Your link but the twrp .IMG had .md5 attached and cant rename it to flash any ideas how to rename or further extract a .IMG.md5

As far as I am aware, a file ending in .md5 or in this case .img.md5 is not actually the image file, but the md5 checksum file. You would need to download the actual image file. The md5 file is just a verification file to confirm that the file is correct before it flashes. If the file is not present, TWRP will bypass the check and flash. If the file is present and matches, TWRP will continue the flash. If the file is present and the check does not match, TWRP will abort the flash.

Apologies, just realised you have the XT1575. I have an EU XT1572 hence why I linked to the thread above. As you have the XT1575, use the files from this thread:
[FiRMWARE] XT1575 PuRE FiRMWARE aNd STuFF
The recovery files are available to download separately in the above thread. Just choose the file you need depending on which version of Android you are running.
Hope this helps.

Automated recovery flashing archive (3.bat's and all the files you need)

This comes with the .img of Amon_ra, 3 batch files to reboot into bootloader, flash it, then reboot into recovery (will need to type reboot recovery) into the shell for the 3rd batch file (it tells you so) then you are immediately into recovery. I made this batch file and if you repost, please give proper credits. This script can be easily modified to flash any recovery for any phone since it's just generic commands. This currently is using amon_ra for the HTC Evo 4g and can be used after gaining s-off using Revolutionary or any other root method. I used the install recovery.bat for switching quickly from Twrp to wipe for my roms. Anyway, here is the bat. Instructions are included when you run each batch file. So just extract these to your desktop as is meaning don't put the .bat files in the same folder as all the other files. They need to be seperate.
You run them in this order: Reboot1.bat>Recovery install.bat>Reboot2.bat
^ in order from left to right.

Returning to stock, cant flash system, now wont boot from backups

OK, so i'm returning my N4 to Stock from Dirty Unicorns as i am possibly selling it. i Downloaded a copy of stock 4.2.2 from Google and extracted the images from the .tgz as instructed in this thread.
i re flashed the bootloader and radio fine, i had changed the radio previously to fix signal issues, but when i try to flash system it hangs on writing.
now when i boot into my recovery and restore an old backup it doesn't get past the boot screen.
any help with this would be really appreciated
cheers
Airhn
Make sure you are in the correct folder location when flashing. Depending how you unzipped the tar, your system, boot, userdata and recovery img files might be in another folder. cd your way to the correct location then it should work.
I shift+right click to open a cmd prompt in the folder. I can send the files to the phone no problem but it hangs when trying to write it

Maybe switch cables and USB ports to make sure it's not one of those things. Check MD5 sum of the tar if you didn't before you started?

Nexus 7 2012 trwp and cwp and side load android 4.4 zip flash error

Hello xda, I unfortunately have an issue with flashing the android 4.4 factory zip. I know there are many different problems including the "status 7" issue which is ticking of some people. But I have a different error,
no md5 file found..
verifying current system..
"/system/app/Currents.apk" has unexpected contents.
E: Error executing updater binary in zip...
Can someone please explain this error and the solution for me? I have tried everything I could find, I'm rooted with trwp and I even tried cwp and adb side load to flash the android 4.4 factory zip but the same error always appears.
Someone help me.
I must of deleted Google currents by accident. And I couldn't even flash the android 4.3 factory zip without getting the same error.

Use a file manager to check to see if you have the Currents.apk in the /system/app directory, if it is missing just copy the attached one to /system/ap and change the permissions to rw-r-r to match the other files. The attached Currents.apk is from the JWR66V file system.

For permissions, if using ES File Explorer, long press on the app, press “more” in the bottom right corner, select “Properties,” then press the change box that is next to permissions. If you are using Root Explorer, long press on the file, and then select “Permissions.”
If you continue to receive errors, I recommend downloading the following stock JWR66V ROM, HERE. You can then pick out each file that you need, or you can just dirty flash it to restore all the needed files.
Attached is that file, you just need to unzip the file, and then change the permission on the file too rwxr-xr-x.

I have similiar issue on 2012 3g, stock, locked, no root, stock recovery. Did a side load, but during system verification i got "/system/media/bootanimation.zip" has unexpected contents. Error in /sdcard/0/ update.zip. (Status 7)". I'm on jrw66y tried to reflash, successfuly, tried 4.4 ota again, same error. I recived two OTA's for 4.3 and had no issues. I can understand errors for apks, but for a stock bootanimation i just can't... Does someone have a idea what next? Thanks in advance.

OK I reinstalled the old android 4.3 factory zip and then updated to the second 4.3 update and then the 4.4 , when I update I'm quarter way, it said error, boot animation has unexpected contents, I need the old boot animation back because when I turn on my nexus it doesn't have the traditional "x" boot animation anymore. I guess this new boot animation is from the JWR66V factory zip for rooted devices you gave me from before. Can you please give me the old boot animation file, I hope this is the only error I'm gonna get.

I had the same problem and I solved it flashing system.img an boot.img from factory image. I don't remember the post so I'ill explain you. (For this method you have been bootloader unlocked)
1. Download Factory Image from Google site.
2. Unzip the .tgz file.
3. Unzip the .zip file in.
4. Copy system.img and boot.img to the location of fastboot (i. e. in SDK platform tools).
5. Open CMD in that location (shiftRightClick> Open Command Prompt Here).
6. Write this commands:
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Note: Userdata partition factory reset your tablet. Don't flash it!
And that's all. Your Nexus 7 has been updated.

Will the flashing system.img and boot.img wipe the data?
Unlocking bootloader wipes data. Flashing system and boot won't . But, sometimes device won't boot if data is not wiped. Now, as i wage lurking around for a solution or rooting and wipe data, I'm much closer to 2nd solution.

I installed the OTA and I don't know what happened, I got stuck on the Kitkat logo screen (boot animation). I am unlocked and have CWM installed. Now I can't get past that screen. I can access adb and also CWM recovery.
I am also planning to try this method now. Is it okay if I have CWM Recovery installed? Do I have to remove it in order for this to work?

The Factory Image include 4 files: boot.img, system.img, userdata.img (this wipes your data) and recovery.img (if you use a Custom Recovery, you don't have to flash this, if you don't, you must to flash it. In addition, your recovery isn't important. You only have to reboot your device in bootloader mode (Turn on pressing Power+VolUp+VolDown) and connect it to your PC. Finally you have tu follow the steps. Simply and clear. Your device has been updated.

[4.4.4][TWRP][Modified system] OTA update zip file

So I have pulled and uploaded the update zip file to drive just in case anyone needs it.
And modified to get it working on twrp with Modified system but important core apps like systemui.apk need to be untouched though, no need to flash stock again, just normal flash via TWRP, worked on mine.
And some people were asking if it flashes default recovery or not, so the Answer is TWRP/CWM will stick.
And you will not lose root Access too

As OP said,
U only have to edit the updater-script file present under condor_4.4.4_TWRP_flashable.zip\META-INF\com\google\android in order to get the zip file working.
1. Copy the condor_4.4.4_TWRP_flashable.zip file that OP shared to your PC.
2. Now open this file using any zip handler like 7zip/winzip/winrar/windows explorer(if running windows8+), browse to the above location to find updater-script file, now extract /copy this on your PC.
3. Now select an option to edit this file using Notepad++ (step 4 on how/what to edit/change)
4. As per the TWRP error log, remove all the lines from the updater-script in particular to that error.
For Ex. if the error says:
/system/app/LiveWallpapersPicker.apk\" has unexpected contents.
then u need to remove the following line from the updater-script
apply_patch_check("/system/app/LiveWallpapersPicker.apk", "f4b9dc41f0d4691a2f9b71be06036c1de91c43ea", "d57f5cbc092e3e6cab286793da70ee7ffc4f440e") || abort("\"/system/app/LiveWallpapersPicker.apk\" has unexpected contents.");
assert(apply_patch("/system/app/LiveWallpapersPicker.apk", "-",
f4b9dc41f0d4691a2f9b71be06036c1de91c43ea, 160480,
d57f5cbc092e3e6cab286793da70ee7ffc4f440e, package_extract_file("patch/system/app/LiveWallpapersPicker.apk.p")));
5. Once u are done with all such, simply save the updater-script and copy this back to its location and select replace if asked.
6. Now save the condor_4.4.4_TWRP_flashable.zip and copy it back to Phone and try flashing now using TWRP.
hope it helps

Flash the attached recovery.img (after unzipping the archive) using fastboot or mfastboot.
This one is only for XT1022.
Okay, so tried to modify the updater script to get it working with TWRP but it won't work if you modified any system file by yourself because it verifies all the system files and then patches them, (I had modified many apks, so it didn't work.), tried to skip verification but then it failed during patch.
So you can try But it won't work for modified system. and must create a nandroid backup.
Use the attached updater script for TWRP.
Even Stock recovery won't work on modified system.
update works on rooted devices but there should be stock recovery
Rooted users can update their moto e but must have stock recovery. If you are facing problem with trwp recovery while updating it, then flash the stock recovery annd then try. It works

Android N Preview 5 beta npd90g (flashable & image, no encryption & dm verification)
** DISCLAIMER: APPLY AT YOUR OWN RISK **** The following are instructions for installing Android N Preview 5 image released by Google on 7/18/2016. After the installation you will have TWRP recovery 3.0.2-0 with the data partition erased and unencrypted if you use method 2 **Always backup your data before flashing something a total stranger gives you!
Method 1: Flash update through TWRP recovery (keeps your data and current recovery)
1- You need to have TWRP 3.0.2-0 or higher installed on your phone.
2- Download this flashable zip.
3- Copy to the phone internal storage and flash via recovery.
4- Reboot. Your data should still be intact and your OS is upgraded to N Preview 5 beta. If your internal storage is unencrypted before flashing it remains unencrypted.
Method 2: Flash update using a computer (wipes everything, unencrypts data, and upgrades TWRP)
1- ALL of your data including the internal storage will be lost so make a backup. (If you know what you are doing and you are coming from unencrypted Marshmallow you can modify the instructions to not lose data but I won't help you with that).
2- Download this file. Note that it is NOT a flashable zip.
3- Unzip into a folder of your choice on your PC.
4- Open a command window (cmd) and cd to this directory. then run the following:
Code:
flash-all
5- Wait until prompted, then press key to reboot the phone.
6- Your data is wiped and your OS is upgraded to N Preview 5 beta with unencrypted internal storage. Your TWRP is also upgraded to 3.0.2-0.

The link doesn't work for me (method 1). Brings up a blank page.
edit - sorry, I see it's still being uploaded. When I first looked on my phone it said this was posted at 5:37 am. When I logged in on my computer just now it says 11:37 pm (25 min ago).
Thanx! Just got the OTA Update available message - can I flash the OTA as well when I am coming from your unencrypted Android N4?

If you take the google OTA your phone will be encrypted and your recovery will be replaced with google's. If you want to keep the recovery and unencrypted sdcard then flash the flashable file above (method 1) that I just finished uploading.
do you have to be on N already, to flash using method #1, and also, are the normal wiping methods required?

You can be on whatever rom you want. Just do a full wipe (data, system etc) and don't wipe sdcard. Then make sure you have TWRP 3.0+. And just flash the zip from method 1. I just did and it's working perfect.
Thanks @najoor !
Why is it always after I post that I realized what I did wrong? LOL edited and deleted.

I'm currently on preview 4 with twrp and root with elemental. Do I need to restore the stock kernel before flashing method 1?
Thanks for your work on this, najoor!
Edit - Autocorrect mis-correcting my spelling

No but your kernel will be replaced with N kernel and if any of your apps depend on the elemental kernel they will stop working.
